For Visual Composer no need any Front end tools.. you need portal connection.. to configure your visual compoer.. the visla composer it self contain all the items.. just like a Webtemplate..
all the reports.. that web based reports or dash boards we can view through Browser only..

How to work with BI using Visual Composer....?

I want to work with BI report and BEx analyzer etc using Visual Composer.
I am using Visual Composer 7.1. I have configured BI system connection using the following link

Creating BI Users in the Portal
Ensure that the BI back-end users also exist in the J2EE Engine. You can use the BI back end as the user store for the J2EE Engine or you can create the users manually. If you create the users manually, you should ensure that they have the same names as in the BI back-end; this avoids the need to configure user assignment.
How to check BI back end user also exist in J2EE engine ?
How to use BI kit in Visual composer. From where can i download BI kit for Visual Composer.
What is the difference between developing application in VC using the above method and using BI kit.

Hi,
Without the BI kit you cannot do a lot of things in VC 7.1.
This kit is not available with 7.1.
The part that you did not understand meant that if you opening VC using a certain id in portal for eg "user" then the same id should be present in your backend system in this case BW system.
Without this it wont be able to connect to the system.

There are a lot of differences between ARIS and Visio, however the main difference between these 2 products is that ARIS is a database in a client server architecture while Visio is a visual modeler with unstructured data.
You could imagine then what you can do with information in a database like Aris: query the objects (processes, roles, activities, etc) by their attributes (owner, relationships), you can have several different views on the information, this is, the IT guy would like to see which IT systems are supporting the opperation of certain process while the COO would like to know in which countries are these proceses running.
You may want to have a closer look to what we call the Enterprise Architecture (SAP EAF). This is not only the definition of landscape but the blueprinting of the whole organization, meaning Business, Data, Applications and Infraestructure Architecture.

Passing output of one iView as input to another iView using Visual Composer

Hi
I need urgent help. Is it possible to pass data from one iView to another using the Visual Composer tool. If it is how? Does anyone have an example or know where I can find one.
Here is my example:
I have created one Page with two iViews on the page. In the first iView i have a Bapi that accepts an ID number of a business partner as input and returns details like Name, Surname , title etc as well as the SAP Business Partner Number. The second Iview uses a Bapi that returns the Address details of the business partner.My problem is that I need to use the Business Partner Number from the first iView as the input into the second iView. Is this possible using Visual Composer? There will be a series of additional all bringing back different details of the same Business Partner and will need to use the same Business Partner Number.
Please advise me if this is possible using VC or if not suggest an alternative way of doing it.

Yes you can do this.
You can use ports (Signals) for this.
In order to explaing this, I will call the 1st iView - the source iView and the 2nd one - the target iView.
1. In the source iView create an "Out Port" from the form or table where you have the details you want passed. Name it anyway you want (in the Properties task pane).
2. In the target iView create an "Input Port" and connect it to the input of the BAPI you want run.
3. Make sure that both ports have exactly the same name (it's case sensitive). and the same fields.
4. Deploy the 2 iViews to the portal, put them in the same page.
Data should be transferred now between the iViews.

PSA - Persistent Staging Area
IDOC - Intermediate Document
PSA is a temporary storing of all the data.
IDOC is used as a intermediate document to trnasfer the data from one system to our BW systems.
From PSA we can transfer 1600 bytes of data & by using PSA we can edit the data also.we can also rectify errors also through PSA,bcoz PSA is a subfunction of our SAP BW system.
IDOC we can transfer only 1200 bytes of data & we cant rectify the errors if any,bcoz it is not a function of SAP BW.

Problems using Visual Composer with Web Dynpro runtime

I am currently trying to build a Visual Composer iView and we need to use the Web Dynpro runtime rather than Flash because it needs to work with a screen reader for users with sight problems. Which is a pity because Flash works fine. But when I use Web Dynpro runtime I'm getting the following problems:
a) When I define fields and pushbuttons in forms where Align Contents is set to Absolute, they do not appear at runtime in the positions in which I've placed them - all form elements are aligned vertically. The only other options are to align all fields vertically or align all fields horizontally. This lack of flexibility makes it rather difficult to create a good screen design; the only option seems to be to create a separate form for each set of differently aligned fields, which leads on to the next problem. .
b) When I define more than one form on a page, again at runtime the forms do not always appear in the positions in which I've placed them; the compiler seems to calculate how much space it needs to display the screen elements and then re-sizes and re-positions the forms accordingly, ignoring what I've told it to do.
c) Toolbar pushbuttons do not appear on forms (they do appear on tables). Irritating, but at least I can still create pushbuttons on the form itself.
There are other issues, but the main problems is that it appears that when I use VC with Web Dynpro I cannot trust the editor layout at all and the only way I can build something that looks decent is to fiddle about with field / form sizes and positions, checking every change on the output, until hopefully I get it looking ok. Having to do this will dramatically increase the time taken to develop VC applications. Has anyone else experienced these problems with VC and Web Dynpro? Has anyone managed to overcome them?

Thanks, but neither of these describes the problems I've been having. And they are misleading since they say that you can use VC with Web Dynpro only with Web Services ie not directly with BAPIs / RFCs, but using it with BAPIs / RFCs is one of the few things that works well in our system.
The most recent problem I've found is that if you make a form or table read-only it will stay read-only in Flash but the fields are editable in Web Dynpro. The individual field disable option does work for Web Dynpro, but it turns the fields from black to a vey pale and almost invisible grey (this doesn't happen in Flash). And you can't seem to change this.
It does seem to be a bit pathetic that input fields can't be made read only. I've tried expression boxes, which are read-only anyway, but they appear in as pale a grey as the disabled input fields. And although plain text fields can be added to tables, they are pretty useless since they can only hold a single value and so all the lines will contain the same value.
I guess I should resign myself to the fact that I am never going to be able to produce a decent screen using VC and Web Dynprp.

Use visual composer for maintenance transaction of R/3

Can I use the visual composer as a tool to connect to maintenance transaction of R/3.
Can I use it to build a sales order or a porches order in the R/3.

Does anyone know if you can use an IDOC interface with VC? Also, does anyone have suggestions for a BAPI for creating and displaying notifications?

Creating TabStrip control using visual composer

Hi,
I am NW04 version for Visual Composer. I want to create a TabStrip control on which I want to show two table from a RFC. Is there any facility available to create this like NW2004s. I found from some posts that NW04 verson doesn't have capabilities to create listbox. Or is there any patches available and after applying we will get the functionality??? Or can I install VC for NW2004s and it will be compatible with EP 6.0??

Use layers and set the correpsonding property. Tabstrip is one of the options in 2004.

An user asked me outside the forum but I was not able to answer...this question now is more for curiosity than asking him.
What´s the font family used in the Adobe Products (Illustrator spec...)...I mean what´s the font family used to compose the dialog boxes and menus?
Would be a system font like Arial, Tahoma or so on?

Adobe system fonts are 'Bitmap fonts', or 'Pixel fonts'.
These are designed as fixed pixel patterns. Scaling is possible
only by integer factors 2,3 and so on (e.g. for tests).
The doc below tells you how to get them, but I didn't test it.

Verdana is a (scalable) OpenType font, where the contours are
defined by Bézier curves. This font is not used for the menues
(would look terrible, if downscaled for that size).

Hi Arun,
In order to display a ppt or a word document you can use the HTML View. The input parameter of the HTML View is a url, you should just enter the url of your ppt or word.
We don't support km components.
