Please help me in this regardWhat all you have studied is basics. And in the institutes they only teach you 5% of actual work, Yes only 5%. They can not teach the whole 5 years learning just in few classes.
In real time When you are working as a technical consultant, you get to speak to functional consultants a lot of time for developing reports, customization, creating custom forms.... So thats why the interviewer has asked a mixture of both technical and functional.
The questions they asked also depends on the number of years experience you have in the resume ;).
How ever you can gain more knowledge from blogs and forums like this.
I will point you to few of them
Your first step should be reading all the documents related to technical filed from the following link.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B53825_08/current/html/docset.html
Then read atleast 10 to 15 real time issues related to your field from forums like this.
and read posts from oracle apps technical gurus like Anil Passi,
    http://oracle.anilpassi.com/basic-concepts-list-of-useful-oracle-apps-articles-2.html
and links to all the technical blogs can be found at

Best of luck and you will get a job soon.

  • Can anybody advantages of SAP over other ERPs like ORACLE Apps

Can any body please tell me how SAP help a company to run it bussiness in smoother way than other ERP's....Please tell me some worthfull points.
    Regards,
    Kamala

    Hi,
The ERP developed by SAP AG is different from the rest of the crowd by the way it functions. SAP maintains a single database across the entire organization and consequently redundant copies of the data do not exist. And hence data retrieval becomes more convenient.
Also SAP is shipped with about 8000 data base tables covering all the modules that are applicable for any industry. So the unity in diversity helps SAP customers to maintain the integrity and enhances the business.

  • Advantages of BPEL over Oracle Workflow?

I am considering using SOA as an interface technology in an Oracle EBS deployment. What would be the benefits of using Oracle SOA Suite over simply using Oracle Workflow w/ Oracle XML Gateway and customizing calls from certain E-Business Suite pages?
I need to have real-times interfaces embedded in some EBS pages, but the interfaces will go away after a year or two, so I am considering that a quick-and-dirty solution might be better then trying to go whole-hog.

Workflow may be scheduled for desupport, but my institution has a support contract with EBS that will probably last quite a while. Relevant Metalink articles (Doc ID 391546.1) do mention that there are exceptions to workflow desupport on 11/07 for Workflow bundled with another package.
So, beyond the desupport issues, what would be other things included with SOA suite that I couldn't do (or would be resource-prohibitive to do) with XML Gateway and Workflow?

  • What are advantages of FCP over FCE4?

    Hi folks,
I've been using FCE4 for the past 3 years. I've also used a pretty low-end camera, but am thinking about upgrading (Panasonic AG HMC150... it doesn't have 4:2:2 color). Typically, I do a lot of compositing when I edit. Will Pro Res give my final output better quality (DVD output)? Are there any other advantages to upgrading my software?
    Thanks,
    Vic

    Hi Martin,
I will answer all your questions as accurately as possible. Bear in mind, however, that I use different settings in different situations, as you'd expect. In any case, though, it seems my end product, i.e. the DVD, had a rather weak video signal. As I've said, it's not jittery... but seems as though it's teetering on the edge... as if it's about to go jittery. I'm usually watching, saying, "I hope it doesn't start to flicker!" Not sure what anyone else is thinking, but to me it's nowhere near what I see on a rented DVD. Perhaps I'm expecting too much?
Anyways, here are my answers to your questions:
What settings on the HF 10?
I typically use manual exposure and auto white balance. However, depending on the circumstances, I sometimes use one of the white balance presets (a "Fluorescent" setting, since it seems to give a good coloration)
The lighting is often pretty crappy. I do real estate videos, and by necessity I shoot with whatever light I can get (i.e. turn on all lights, open drapes. That's why I use the Fluorescent setting; it seems to be a good balance for the various types of light). In shooting weddings, for example at the one I just shot, the lighting in the church was pretty bad. But, it's not that the video signal gets stronger for outdoor shots; rather, it just seems weak throughout. Anyways, as a result of the less than ideal lighting, the exposure was sometimes grainy.
Is my HF 10 working properly?
Yes, it sure seems to be. I very recently purchased an HF M400 and, man, what a friggin' difference! Still has a 1/3" chip, but WOW! I cut together a side be side comparison, and the difference is amazing. So, perhaps that will make a difference on my next shoot (which is this weekend).
What's the nature of my compositing?
I do play around with Picture in Picture type stuff; however, mostly, I incorporate still images (photos, logos, etc.) I don't have Motion or AE, so I do it right in FCE4. But, again, it's the quality (or, rather, the "strength") of the video signal throughout the whole DVD that seems weak, so I dunno if this is an issue.
Do I apply filters in FCE4?
Typically, no. I've experimented a bit, but really haven't incorporated any special effects, or for that matter, even any color correcting. Actually, when I tried to brighten the image (because, as I said, the church was kinda' dimly lit), I "undid" it because the video looked worse with the filter applied.
Did I render the video before exporting?
    Yes. I always do.
How did I export the video from FCE4?
I tried it two ways: Export as a QT movie (stand alone); and Export as a QT movie (not stand alone). These were direct exports, not QT conversions.
Settings in iDVD? I left it at the default, which was "Best Performance". Videos range from 5 mins. to 45 mins.
What DVD player did I use?
I used my own, which is a Samsung. And, also tried it at my buddy's house, but I don't know what brand he has. I believe in both cases, the machines were connected using the red, white and yellow cable (i.e. the standard connection, I believe you'd call it)
    Type of TV used?
Both myself and my buddy still have the old CRT TVs. I have an HD TV (Samsung) which I use as an external monitor, but I don't have a way to connect my regular DVD player to it, i.e. it doesn't take the red, white and yellow connectors typically used on SD DVD players.
Anyways, I'm not sure if you intended for me to provide answers to those questions; perhaps your were just giving me food for thought? In any case, you've convinced me that the problem is not with FCE4 or with iDVD, per se (though, perhaps the issue is in how I'm using... or mis-using... these programs). So, in that sense, you have answered my question: I should invest in a better camera rather than in the Final Cut Pro7 Studio. Because, ultimately, I just want to be able to give my customers a good quality DVD, and that's it. And, based on what I'm hearing/reading here, FCE4 and iDVD should do the trick nicely... and without the apparent complexities of learning yet more software, i.e. DVDSP and Compressor.
So, thank you very much for chiming in! I very much appreciate your taking the time to help out. If you have any additional thoughts, I would love to hear them.
    Thanks again,
    Vic

  • What is advantage of excel over labview measurment file

    hi
i am doing some data acquision work in labview..i want to know that for data storage which  will be better   , microsoft excel or labview measurment file..       whats advantage &disadvantage of same

Well in my opinion the best type of file depends on your needs, really... I don't think that one is intrinsicly better than the other.
Do you need to be able to read your file with another soft than labview ?
Do you need to have particular headers on your file ?
If you make list of all the possibility you want relativly to your data files then we can discuss on the best format, do you follow me ?

  • What files need to be cleaned periodically in Oracle Apps R12 ?

    Hi
In Oracle Database, periodically we clean alertlog, trace files from bdump, udump, cdump directories and at AIX OS level, /usr/tmp, /var/tmp, /root,we clean .tmp,.log files. Similarly, what files needs to cleaned from Oracle Apps R12 directories periodically to control the harddisk usage?
Any help is highly appreciated !
    Thanks

    Ateeq,
Please be careful when following the steps in the note referenced above especially when cleaning the $ORACLE_HOME/lib directory, otherwise your instance will not function properly. I believe purging the log files at the application/database tiers is fair enough to reclaim space and should be done on periodic basis.

If you click on for example the Oracle 11i Applications Database Administrator link it currently goes here:
    [Oracle 11i Applications Database Administrator]
And it indicates the exams required. Aslo as you are not a Database Administrator OCP you will have to attend (or have attended) an approved hands on course to get the certificate.

  • Pre-built Business Areas for Oracle Apps?

    Hello all,
I'd like to know if there are any 'boiler-plate' Business Areas that come with
    Oracle Apps 11i?
I'm building a Discoverer reporting environment over Oracle Apps 11i.
Apps 11i, if you don't know, is enormous! I'd like some 'off-the-shelf'
    material to start with.
    Thanks.

Yes you need to review Doc ID: 139516.1 Discoverer 4i with Oracle Applications 11i from metalink to set them up.
    Good Luck/Richard

  • What is the advantages of polymorphism over method overriding?

what is the advantages of polymorphism over method overriding, that means if we are able to to create object at different instances at diff time for that sub class reff variable than what is the need of careating object of super class data type(i.e why always it is necessary to have upcasting for polymorphism?but if we can achive the same output without upcasting).....please tell me..lets have complete discuss..

    Seriously though....
WebLogic (for which I have deployed many apps on) as
well as Websphere are both high end Java application
servers, meaning J2EE servers (in short). They allow
one to deploy Enterprise Archive(EAR), a Web
Archive(WAR), or an EJB Archive (in a JR file).
These two servers allow one to deploy EJBs, use
e JNDI, JMS, connectors, and other J2EE technologies
    - Tomcat does not. well, EJBs - no
    JNDI, yes - http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-4.1-doc/jndi-resources-howto.html
JMS - yes (with an implementation, such as ActiveMQ: http://activemq.codehaus.org/Tomcat)
Not sure what you mean by "connectors".
Tomcat provides quite a bit of functionality (but yes, no EJBs)

  • What the advantages of having an BAPI over Other data migrations

What the advantages of having an BAPI over Other data migrations

    Th advantages of BAPI
    1. Simple to use (its just an FM)
    2. Not cumbersome like bdc
where we have to record each and every screen
    sequence.
    3. SAP guarantees the consistency
    of bapi in future releases.
One of the big plusses for BAPIs is that the interface and function are not supposed to change. This is a big plus when you do upgrades or hot packs because the transaction can change (format, required inputs etc) which means you then need to update the call transaction.
Some of the BAPIs are better documented and easier to use than others.
You usually need to perform the BAPI that actually does the COMMIT after you call your BAPI.
The Program coding for calling a BAPI is usually cleaner than setting up the screen flow etc for the Call Transaction.
You don't need to worry about special data circumstances interrupting the normal data flow of the screens and causing errors because of that.
BAPIs probably have better performance since they don't do the screen flow processing.
In general if the BAPI exists for the transaction you want to perform and you can figure out how to use it the BAPI is probably the best way to go.
This is just from my experience working with both BAPI and Call Transaction. I have had some very good successes with BAPIs, but very occasionally found that I could not get the BAPI to perform the update I needed.
Refer the transaction BAPI for detail information.

    BAPI_CUSTOMER_CREATEFROMDATA1
Or you can use FM SD_CUSTOMER_MAINTAIN_ALL
    what is BAPI?
BAPI stands for Business API(Application Program Interface).
A BAPI is remotely enabled function module
ie it can be invoked from remote programs like standalone JAVA programs, web interface etc..
You can make your function module remotely enabled in attributes of Function module but
A BAPI are standard SAP function modules provided by SAP for remote access.
Also they are part of Businees Objest Repository(BOR).
BAPI are RFC enabled function modules. the difference between RFc and BAPI are business objects.
You create business objects and those are then registered in your BOR (Business Object Repository)
which can be accessed outside the SAP system by using some other applications (Non-SAP) such as VB or JAVA.
In this case u only specify the business object and its method from external system
in BAPI there is no direct system call. while RFC are direct system call.
Some BAPIs provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP business object types.
These BAPIs should be implemented the same for all business object types.
Standardized BAPIs are easier to use and prevent users having to deal with a number of different BAPIs.
Whenever possible, a standardized BAPI must be used in preference to an individual BAPI.
The following standardized BAPIs are provided:
Reading instances of SAP business objects
GetList ( ) With the BAPI GetList you can select a range of object key values,
for example, company codes and material numbers.
The BAPI GetList() is a class method.
GetDetail() With the BAPI GetDetail() the details of an instance of a business object type are retrieved
and returned to the calling program.
The instance is identified via its key.
The BAPI GetDetail() is an instance method.
BAPIs that can create, change or delete instances of a business object type
The following BAPIs of the same object type have to be programmed
so that they can be called several times within one transaction.
For example, if, after sales order 1 has been created, a second sales order 2 is created in the same transaction,
the second BAPI call must not affect the consistency of the sales order 2.
After completing the transaction with a COMMIT WORK, both the orders are saved consistently in the database.
    Create( ) and CreateFromData! ( )
The BAPIs Create() and CreateFromData() create an instance of an SAP business object type,
for example, a purchase order. These BAPIs are class methods.
    Change( )
The BAPI Change() changes an existing instance of an SAP business object type,
for example, a purchase order. The BAPI Change () is an instance method.
Delete( ) and Undelete( ) The BAPI Delete() deletes an instance of an SAP business object type from the database
    or sets a deletion flag.
The BAPI Undelete() removes a deletion flag. These BAPIs are instance methods.
Cancel ( ) Unlike the BAPI Delete(), the BAPI Cancel() cancels an instance of a business object type.
The instance to be cancelled remains in the database and an additional instance is created
and this is the one that is actually canceled. The Cancel() BAPI is an instance method.
    Add<subobject> ( ) and Remove<subobject> ( ) The BAPI Add<subobject> adds a subobject to an existing object inst!
ance and the BAPI and Remove<subobject> removes a subobject from an object instance.
    These BAPIs are instance methods.

Java Connector(JCO) can call not only BAPI's but also the function modules which are remotely enabled..
BAPI's as i said earlier are remotely enabled function modules..
Hence, JCO can call also BAPI's(n not only BAPI's as u mentioned).
Check the following BDC over BAPI
The steps to be followed are :
    1. Find out the relevant BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE for VA02).
    [for VA01 use BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2]
    2. Create a Z program and call the BAPi (same as a Funtion module call).
    2. Now, if you see this BAPi, it has
    -> Importing structures.
eg: SALESDOCUMENT: this will take the Sales order header data as input.
    -> Tables parameters:
eg: ORDER_ITEM_IN: this will take the line item data as input.
    Note :
Only specify fields that should be changed
Select these fields by entering an X in the checkboxes
Enter a U in the UPDATEFLAG field
Always specify key fields when changing the data, including in the checkboxes
The configuration is an exception here. If this needs to be changed, you need to complete it again fully.
Maintain quantities and dates in the schedule line data
    Possible UPDATEFLAGS:
    U = change
    D = delete
    I = add
    Example
    1. Delete the whole order
    2. Delete order items
    3. Change the order
    4. Change the configuration
    Notes
    1. Minimum entry:
You must enter the order number in the SALESDOCUMENT structure.
You must always enter key fields for changes.
You must always specify the update indicator in the ORDER_HEADER_INX.
    2. Commit control:
The BAPI does not run a database Commit, which means that the application must trigger the Commit
so that the changes are read to the database. To do this, use the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT BAPI.
For further details... refer to the Function Module documentation for the BAPi.
