What is an Oracle Configurator ?

Hi ,
Can someone explain in a few lines what an oracle configurator is?
I am an Oracle apps DBA. I hear the terms like MODEL , CONFIGURE A NEW MODEL.
I read few docs from oracle website but I still don't seem to understand it.
Could someone explain in layman's terms please.
It would be very helpful to me.
Thanks,

Supporting internet, telesales and other channels, Oracle Configurator actively gathers customer requirements and maps them to a set of product or service options. This allows organizations to offer guided selling capabilities to their customers.
Oracle Configurator is part of Oracle Order Orchestration and Fulfillment and Oracle Customer Relationship Management. It integrates with iStore, Order Management, Quoting, Sales and TeleSales.

  • What is CZGOLD concept in Oracle Configurator?

    Hi Guys,
    If anyone knows about, what is CZGOLD concept in Oracle Configurator?
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

    Are you referring to CZGold as in an instance?
    In lot of implementations, the Configurator Developer will be on a seperate instance and the rest of the EBS will be on a different instance.
    That Configurator instance may be called CZGold.
    There may be other Gold instances as well. These instances contain those setups that have been verified and are ready to go to production.

  • How do I install Oracle Configuration Manager in oracle Fusion - discoverer 11i

    Hello Gurus,
    I need some guidance to install Oracle Configuration Manager.
    I have just successfully installed Oracle Fusion - following "Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.6.0) (Part Number E10421-07)" without OCM. I have EBS 12.1.3 and rdbms 11.2.0 on the same server.

    You need to have an infrastructure as a pre-requisite for a portal type OAS installation.
    Please see this [link and the whole guide - click Content on the top-right|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/win.1012/install.1012/install/mt.htm#sthref508] for details and then decide what have you installed that you are referring to as OAS 10g.

  • What are the Oracle Home and GRID home directory locations for Oracle 12c (12.1.0.5) release

    Hello All,
    I plan to install and configure Oracle 12c Cloud Control console on a single standalone server and the version is Oracle 12.1.0.5. All the databases which are installed across in the entire farm/landscape are these versions:
    Oracle 10.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 10.2.0.4 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 10.2.0.4 Active DataGuard Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 10.2.0.5 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11.2.0.1 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11.2.0.1 Active DataGuard Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11.2.0.3 RAC Enterprise Edition
    All Oracle databases across these versions will use the same version of Oracle Grid since ASM is used for all the Oracle database across Production/Test/Development databases. The OS is RHEL 5.8, RHEL 6.3, OEL 6.3 versions.
    When installing the Oracle 12c Cloud Control what is the Oracle and Grid Home directory location need to set to. Please let me know if there are any other additional configurations needed?
    Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
    Regards,
    Abhijit

    First off, the only EM CC release out right now is 12.1.0.2, not sure where you got 12.1.0.5 (DB Plugin maybe?).
    Second, you're confusing EM CC homes with DB/Grid homes.
    EM CC will need it's own Oracle Home (i.e. /opt/oracle/product/em_12.1.0.2).   You will need to provide repository database connection information, but EM does not care what home the db or grid is installed in.
    I would recommend reviewing the documentation as well as the references on OTN -

  • Decimal Numbers in Oracle Configurator

    We are trying to use decimal numbers in a parent Option Class, such the example below:
    Item Type Qty
    - 000000x Option Class 0,14444
    - 00000xx Option Class 1
    What occurs:
    When I used decimal numbers on an option class, the structure down of it and the same level of it doesn´t updating on Oracle Configurator.
    There are any error message. But seems that the structure of this point to down is being ignored.
    Today I have ~5,000 items that use the same structure on my BOM that would need to use this funcionality because the unit of measure is liter, and these items have different quantities of consume and all of them can be configured on Oracle Configurator.
    E.g (According the width of the product that were configured, the quantity of paint necessary to build this product can be variable )
    I don´t know if it´s work because i know that OM have some limitations about, but maybe somebody can help me in this issue.
    Tks!

    Have you found any solutions on this yet?
    I have a similar problem and have an SR open at the mo for it! I am wanting to feed a decimal value out of the model and assign it against the (selected) child of the (selected) option class.
    I have learnt to far that inventory is limited to 4 decimal places so its not going to work if you go over this number.
    Then i learnt that an option class will nto support decimal places at all so you need to feed it directly to the child/ren and skip the option class. To do this I set up a Total feature and in my calculation rule I contributed the output to the Total feature. Then the total feature sends the output value to the child by the rule:
    Contribute 'Dummy' * &x1.state() To &x1 FOR ALL &x1 IN {'MJ OUTER MAT OC'.Options()};
    This isn't the correct solution but its nearly there. This assigns the value to all the children of the OC and not just the one that is required causing the whole model to fall over. If you have any solution to your issue or anyone can help me with this one, would be much appreciated.

  • Oracle Configuration Manager (OCM) and Software Configuration Manager (SCM)

    Hi
    Has anyone been able to install OCM(Oracle Configuration Manager, v 10.2.7) and
    successful upload new Software Configurations to Metalink 3?
    We have managed to download the OCM software (version 10.2.7), version 10.3.0 does not seam to be available
    although it is the default suggestion from the download manger for the
    "Oracle Configuration Manager Family" products.
    We have also been able to install the OCM software in out Windows 2003/Siebel 8.0 development
    environment. The connection to Metalink/Oracle configuration server even trough a proxy is
    looking fine. We even get confirm/success message for the upload.
    The only problem is, we don't event one day after doing the upload, see the new
    configuration in Metalink 3.
    Has anyone else been able to get this to work?
    Axel

    We got the configuration upload to work today and it did show up rather fast on Metalink 3. What we ended up having to do, was to install the software twice on the server once in the c:\sba80\gtwysrvr and once in the c:\sba80\siebsrvr directory.
    If you are behind a proxy remember to use the -p parameter when calling setupCCR.

  • Oracle Configurator Version

    DB Server:
    Oracle Linux 5.5
    10.2.0.4.0 DB Version
    Application Server:
    Redhat EL 5.5
    EBS 12.0.6
    How does one figure out the version of "oracle configurator"? In a recent SR I was asked this question by Oracle support. Their method for me to find out was to run the following:
    http://<hostname>:<portnum>/configurator/oracle.apps.cz.servlet.UiServlet?test=version
    The above never worked. Next I was instructed to run the following:
    set serveroutput on;
    declare
    pieces utl_http.html_pieces;
    l_sql_code number;
    l_sql_errm varchar2(2000);
    begin
    utl_http.set_detailed_excp_support (enable => true);
    pieces := utl_http.request_pieces('http://myappsserver.mydomain.com:8000/configurator/oracle.apps.cz.servlet.UiServlet?test=version');
    for i in 1 .. pieces.count loop
    dbms_output.put_line(pieces(i));
    end loop;
    exception
    when others then
    l_sql_code := utl_http.get_detailed_sqlcode;
    l_sql_errm := utl_http.get_detailed_sqlerrm;
    dbms_output.put_line('detail err code: '|| l_sql_code);
    dbms_output.put_line('detail err message: '|| l_sql_errm);
    end;
    The above never worked either, and Oracle support seemed to just give up on wanting to know the version. I am now being asked the version again by a developer. What is correct way to get version information?

    Thanks. I did the following which I found in the installaton guide:
    http://myserver.mydomain.com:8000/OA_HTML/configurator/UiServlet?test=version
    It came back with:
    Using configuration software build: 12.0.0.27.11

  • Oracle configurator

    Hi all,
    Can anyone of you guys can tell me what configurator is.
    Is it a module or a tool?
    Any documentation regarding this will help me a lot.
    I have to find out what all oracle seeded objects or any other objects that have been modified or customized in oracle configurator and also in general how can we find out the objects that have been customized (client is having no documentation regarding the modifications made by the previous people).
    Thank you all,
    nagender

    Following are some very brief explanation:
    Models: a type of BOM(Bill of material) where options can be selected at the time of ordering (e.g. you can select 40 GB HDD or 80 GB HDD when you are buying a laptop).
    Configuration: Final product after user has selected all the options in a model.
    Oracle Configurator: You can call it a module in E-Business suite that supports this functionality of letting users create configurations from predefined Model BOMs at the time of order entry
    Oracle Configurator Developer: This is a tool(Client tool till 11.5.9 and I think it is web based from 11.5.10 onwards) which helps you use Model BOMs as base and define rules, restrictions, validation etc. that should take place at the time of creating configurations(e.g. if you want windows vista as OS then you need to have more than 1GB of RAM)
    (Please note that Oracle Configurator Developer have far more capabilities then what I have mentioned above).
    Hope this helps.

  • How to Invoke Oracle Configurator via URL Outside the APPS Firewall

    Hi Gurus,
    We would like to invoke Oracle Configurator via URL same as Oracle iStore. Please let me know the process/steps to meet the requirement.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Venky.

    There is no restriction that Oracle Configurator may only be executed from within an Oracle hosting application. Configurator may be invoked from any application that has the ability to call Configurator's UI servlet. As an example, Astec (now part of Emerson Network Power) has had a Configurator application they call their "Power Wizard" on their public website for nearly eight years (http://www.powerconversion.com/powerwizard/).
    Venky, I would recommend you search My Oracle Support for articles containing 'configurator firewall' or 'configurator ssl', and then filter the results to just EBS articles. If what you find there is not helpful, opening a Support Request to get information more tailored to your particular scenario may be advisable.

  • Oracle Configurations for High User Volume

    Hi,
    Can anyone point me to some resources which discusses choosing a suitable Oracle configuration ?
    Like what configurations are best suited for a high user(5K to 10 concurrent logged in users) Architecture ?
    Regards,
    Amila.

    Hi,
          We can call the stored procedure using receiver adapter using ccBPM, we can follow different approaches for reading the data in this case.
    a) In this  a ccBPM instance needs to be triggered using some dummy message, after receiving this message the ccBPM can make  a sync call to the Oracle database the store procedure(this can be done using the specific receiver data type strucure), on getting the response message the ccBPM  can then proceed with the further steps.The stored procedure needs to be optimized for improving the performance as the mapping complexity will largely get affected by the structure in which the stored procedure returns the message.Prioritization of the objects can be handled in the stored procedure.
    b) In this a ccBPM instance can first read data from the header level table, then it can make subsequent sync calls to Oracle tables for reading data from the child tables.This approach is less suitable for this interface as the number child tables is big.
