What is an "unknown error (-50) ???

What is an "Unknown Error (-50)" message? I'm trying to Consolidate files so I can move to a new computer.
When I select "Consolidate files" & enter - that's the messagwe I get.

Error -50 is a very unhelpful generic communications error with a number of possible causes. Something between the drive to which you are downloading and the drive from which it is all coming is not working correctly, which probably leaves several hundred options.

TS3694 I waited about an hour to download IOS 7 and at the very end, it said An unknown error occured (6). What is this "unknown" error?

So basically I waited about an hour for itunes to update my iPhone to IOS 7 and it is currently frozen because it had an (error 6) right at the end up the update. What do I do now? Why is it not updating?

I cannot download updates to apps because of this error.

This pops up every time I open iTunes.

Actually I just downloaded Houdini, which allowed me to see the invisible SC files in my Shared Folder. I moved the 2 files out of the SC Folder and I now do not get that error message any more. Everything is good to go.

i can't open itunes v7 because of this "unknown error (-200)".
and if i revert to v 6.0.5 i'm having lots of problems as well (that i didn't have before this GRMBL version 7)!

i can't open itunes v7 because of this "unknown error (-200)".
that can be associated with a damaged QuickTime. (itunes needs a fully functional QuickTime in order to work.)
so let's first try a careful standalone QT 7.1.3 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1.3 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1.3 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention itunes
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

Help! "An Unknown Error Occurred"

Help! I've never had this warning message before.
I've had a wide variety of warning messages with iWeb in the past, and have always found a way to get around it or fix it. With many, all you have to do is ignore it the warning message, or simply continue to publish over and over again.
This I've NEVER had though. What does "an unknown error occurred" mean?
I've re-published several several times. How do I get around it?
I can't seem to update my site anymore, due to this warning message. What do I do?

One of the great mysteries in life is what the iWeb publish error notices really mean.
Apnewbie has some tips on publishiing errors here.
Some things to consider:
Has your internet or network setup changed at all?
Is iWeb still publishing? Sometimes an error like this appears, but iWeb is actually still publishing in the background. If I remember correctly, Apnewbie's page includes instructions for how to tell if publishing is still occurring. If not, post back here and we can provide them for you.
If this is happening while publishing to .mac, you might try publishing to a folder.

I tried this and still have the same problems. If I open Address book or the Mac App Store I get the library rebuild popup and a hang. I created a fresh user and then things are better apart from the printing issue. Its clearly some 3rd party software issue but the crash logs are meningless to me. I used the excellent Etre check app from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck so I have a list of what is being loaded and can compare clean and crashed user info but as I cant work out which of the startup items, launch agents, launch daemons etc that are causing the problem.
I have eliminated Dropbox, Mac Keeper and Witness, and it isnt related to my exterrnal LED cinema dispay or my external thunderbolt drives, or any USB devices if thats any help to anyone else. Info from Etrecheck follows -
