What is Apple doing about the "Unable to download" problems?

So, forgive me if these questions have been asked before. But I am new to Apple, just bought an iPhone about 2 months ago. I love my iPhone, but once you start getting into the world of the App store is where the problems seem to start flooding in. Specifically with the downloading and updating portion. Downloading is sometimes a breeze and sometimes a pain as is updating. Some days I have no problems downloading or updating apps. Other days I get error messages such as "unable to download" with an option of "done" or "retry."
The "done" option is worthless because if you select it, the app is still unselectable and will stay that way for days and the only way around it is to delete the app and reinstall if you can even reinstall it without having problems.
The "retry" option is also worthless because as soon as you select that option, not even a second later will the message "unable to download" pop up again.
Some days I get the error message that says something along the lines of unable to download without a wifi connection. That confuses me because there are plenty of times when I have downloaded apps without a wifi connection. So why is it that sometimes I need a wifi connection and other times I dont need it. Second, I am connected to a wifi connection right now and my app still wont update.
I dont know about you, but I sure as **** dont like seeing that red number 1 on my app store every day, but with the problems of updating apps sometimes im forced to just stare at it every time I unlock my phone.
So what is Apple doing about these problems?? Because I've seen alot of threads on this discussion board but they all seem to have the same answers, "turn off the phone then turn it back on" "download over a wifi connection" "delete the app and re install"

Have you called Apple tech support or visited an Apple Store to ask for assistance with the problem? If not, then you really haven't even given Apple the opportunity to assist you with this problem. This is not happening to every iPod touch by any means, so it's most likely an issue with your particular unit. Try the usual steps: restart, reset, restore.

If that doesn't help, call Apple support or take the iPod to an Apple Store.
Regards.

  • What is Apple doing about the Heartbleed threat?

Does anyone know if Apple will have a patch for the Heartbleed threat? Apparently, it's pretty serious to computers, ipads, iphones.

There will never be a patch for any computers or devices that are not servers using the vulnerable software. The only thing you can do is stay away from all web sites that require you to log in using SSL (https://) an enter sensitive information, including userid and password until that site notifies you that it was either not affected or has fixed the problem, obtained new certificates and is now safe. Only then should you change your password. If you do it too early it will make you more vulnerable to having it harvested.

  • What is Apple doing about Yahoo Email not working?

It's been 2 weeks. What is Apple doing about the clear fact that Yahoo email is not working? It's becoming unacceptable.
As a Blackberry convert, I was sold when Steve J said that Yahoo would "push" like a Blackberry for free. It does not work. I have an older yahoo account and it still does not send email from the iphone (trying the spam thingy doesn't even work with my yahoo). Incoming emails are intermittent.
Has anyone received information that attests to the fact that Apple is at least aware and addressing the problem?
    Thanks!

Free. I have an older yahoo account (few years old) and it syncs imap just fine and I receive emails fine but not always at push speed. I also cannot send an email from my yahoo on my iphone. It looks like it sends it by the bar and the sounds but nothing in the sent box nor nothing received on the other end. I tried making a new yahoo id to try it and it worked for a while and now that one wont send either. The forums have multiple folks with the same issue. One resolution was sending an email from the yahoo web interface because it has you fill out a "captchca" spam thing and then seems to work again. On my yahoo id, I never even get the captchca. VERY FRUSTRATING. I want this to work but it doesn't. I've resorted to GMail only but it's not what's advertised and being used to the Blackberry this is a dealbreaker. I just want to know that Apple/Yahoo is aware of the issue and that it will be fixed.

  • What is apple doing about numb fingers using the trackpad on the new mid 2012 macbook air?

What is apple doing with the trackpads on the mid 2012 MacBook Air, that creates numbness and pain in my fingers.

You have no idea what you are talking about catperson. This topic happens to be on one of the
Apple Support Cummunity conversation. It's called,
Hands go Numb, tingle from trackpad-
Do you even have a 2012 or newer laptop? If not, don't give advise as simple as go see a doctor. Will Apple be paying for my medical bills?
Yesterday is the first time my finger got so painful I could no longer work on my project. I iced it to help numb the numbness, usally the pain subsides when I stay off my laptop for hours however when I start working on it the pain returns and you need your index and middle finger to work that laptop. This is the first time the pain had not gone away, 24 hours later. It feeIs like the tip of my middle finger has a giant splinter in it, very sore! I bought the first edition Macbook Air laptop 4 years ago and never had this problem with my index and middle finger, until I started working on my new Air.
Look at how many people are having the same problem. It can not be a coencidence.  This problem has cost me the use of my finger and the high expense for this new MacBook Air. I'm going to my apple store tomorrow and show them how many people have this problem with numbness. I think this problem goes way beyond giving me a refund for this computer.
Any thoughts after reading other people having the same painful experience?
So What is Apple going to do with the new MacBook Air trackpad that creates numbness in your fingers?
PS: I know the trackpad is made of glass, so I covered my trackpad with a clear cover they sell to put on iphones however that did not slove anything.

The iPhone has a hardware problem - with the battery or something else.
The iPhone includes a one year warranty. If purchased new in October of 2012, it remains under warranty. Call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

  • Iphone 6 screen scratches very easily, just by normal use. Anyone else? What is Apple doing about it! It shouldn't be like that, it is way more fragile than Iphone 5 and 5S screeens!

I disagree. That is the problem with 'opinions'.

  • My speaker has stopped working and it appears this is happening everywhere, what is Apple doing about this?

I have an iPhone5. The speaker has stopped working. I have reset my settings, rebooted several times. I am running 6.1.2.
The support center told me to jailbreak my phone and delete com.apple.iapd.plist. The internet has a deamon that they are saying to delete.
There are thousands of complaints all over the place.
APPLE -- WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT THIS? CAN YOU PLEASE LET US KNOW WHERE YOU STAND ON THIS HARDWARE/SOFTWARE ISSUE!!!
Tomorrow, I am going to an apple store to replace my phone (I hope). I use my phone for business and cannot rely on Vibrate to know my phone is ringing.
Does anyone know what is really going on? It is ridiculous that there are videos telling people to put Q-tips into the phone. If this is what we are resorting to then the iPhone makers should be embarrassed.
I hope this post does not get blocked. I would really like to know what Apple plans to do about this or if anyone really knows how to fix this OTHER THAN replacing the phone.
    Thanks for listening!

I find that difficult to believe... so difficult I would even say you're full of manure.

No, there really are not.  Stop exaggerating.

STOP SHOUTING!  We are users like yourself.  If you want to know what Apple is doing, contact them and ask them.

That sounds like a much better idea than going to some supposed "service center" that suggests voiding the warranty on the device.
Just out of curiousity, what have YOU done to try and resolve the issue?  Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Have you tried any of these steps?

  • After many attempts I am still unable to install iTunes!!! What is Apple doing about this?

I have read and tried the various solutions posted on the Apple support pages and am unable to solve this problem.  I have deleted the named files on several occasions which, I am told, should enable me to download the program.  This hasn't worked!  I would like the Apple Corporation to ensure that any download searches and deletes the required programs as part of the install.  I don't know what to do now to enable me to access ITunes to connect and sync my iPad with the PC.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Ipod issue? What is apple doing about it?

Recently I have had my iPod reset itself automatically for a while now, I've come into the forum boards and looked at what other people have been expieriencining and I've seen lots of answers that haven't worked for me and several others. Is apple aware of this situation of hundreds/thousands/?millions? of ipods malfuntioning? Is there any information released by them about this error?

Apple releasing informations? are you kidding?
Absolutely no firmware release has ever been accompanied by a list of bug fixes, which, in my opinion, is very important...
Maybe we, users, are too dumb to understand what they are doing...
Anyway, concerning your problem, I've read that if you let the battery drain itself by resetting, you will be able to get it back working once recharged...
Don't know if it will help you much
    Good luck dude

  • What's Apple saying about the 34 admitted errors in Intel CPUs?

I'm reading a lot about Core Duo and Core Solo errors. 34 of them. Intel intends to fix just one of them.
I'm yet to find an Apple article on the issue.
I had been contemplating adding an Intel Mac to my stable but I'm pretty certain I'll not be rushing into this until Apple makes a statement to relieve my concerns.
    PMG5 2x2.5 +30 Cinema   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Well, I'm not so sure. Owners of new Intel Macs
certainly appear to be having problems.
Those problems are unrelated to the flaws in the Core Duo.
Processor flaws are "normal", you can't build a chip with several million transistors on it without there being a few problems. That said, the flaws are really edge cases and you'd have to be doing something downright weird to encounter most of them.
It's also worth noting that more than half of the flaws can only be encountered if the processor is in debug mode.
I'll wait for the Apple statement.
I very much doubt you'll get one. They didn't release a statement for the 24 known flaws in the G5 or the 36 known flaws in the G4.
If you hold off buying a computer because the processor has flaws then you'll never buy a computer.
I suspect what's happened here is that a journalist who doesn't understand what's going on found an Intel errata sheet and started yelling about the sky falling. Since most people never hear about these flaws they assume that they're indicative of a broken design. The truth is that nothing is out of the ordinary, there is nothing to be worried about.

  • What is apple doing about squeaky spacebar?!

As if my month-old computer didn't have enough issues, now my spacebar is squeaking. Is apple doing anything about this issue??? It's clear from the posts here that it's fairly common, like most of the other problems these computers seem to encounter. Anyone find a lasting fix for it? Other posts seem to have dozens of quick fixes, but nothing lasting.
What really gets me is I paid almost twice as much for this laptop as I did for my previous one (a Dell), and I never had one issue with that laptop for the two years I used it. This is seriously disappointing.

Given the "squeaking" has been around since the first Aluminium PowerBooks (mine intermittently squeaked) I really don't think they're going to do anything. You might however be able to get your keyboard swapped. I found the squeaking was very much dependent on where you hit the spacebar although most of us tend to be rather consitent in this regard.

  • ICloud mail is down again...mine allows mail to open, then when trying to address an email I get a beach ball and it stays until I quit mail.  Anyone experiencing this and what is apple doing about this?

I like many have been experiencing mail problems since I migrated to iCloud.  Was working fine for a bit, then I now either get crashes or a revolving beachball when I attempt to type an email address.  Have tried quitting and rebooting...you name it.  What is Apple saying or doing to fix the problem.  Been like this all weekend.

iCloud mail is down again...mine allows mail to open, then when trying to address an email I get a beach ball and it stays until I quit mail.
That doesn't necessarily mean the mail is down in iCloud.
You can always check iCloud system status here.
If you are using Safari to access iCloud.com, go to the Safari menu bar click Safari / Empty Cache.
Now go the menu bar again and click Safari / Reset Safari.
Select the top 5 boxes then click Reset.
Quit then relaunch Safari, go to iCloud.com
    Try Mail.

  • I have downloaded iOS 8 and it is slowing down my IPad what is Apple doing about it

I Have recently downloaded iOS8 to my IPad 2 and it has slowed it considerably.  I cannot revert to a previous download so what is Apple going to do about it as it seems I am not the only person suffering this inconvenience.

See if the IOS 8.0.2 update helps.

  • What is everyone doing about the new Mac virus?

Just read about the new Trojan virus that is aimed at Macs. Is there a solution for this?

There's an update from Apple that's been pushed out.  On mine, System Update pushed this when I opened Safari.  If not same for you, try running Software Update.

  • My iphone is suddenly populated by random songs I've downloaded in the past. Why does this happen, and what are apple doing about fixing this?

    Why does this happen?
What do other people do? (I can't go to sleep knowing there's a rogue album or song in my music. It's 2am now)
What do we tell apple so that they actually fix it. None of us want to pay £25 to have our own music.

I am on the monthly payment plan because nobody at BT has told me there is any alternative!
Each year there I have a long, in-depth conversation with the person who sets up the contract for the next year but the gist of the thing is 'I'm  not going to be paying more than [x amount] per month, am I? Because I can't afford any more'' and each year the person says that no, in fact I should be paying less... and then without notice and even with the bill saying 'We will continue to take....' a totally different - and higher - sum disappears from my bank account.
Then I go through the painful process of writing to complain about this, get some sort of sum refunded and then the payments go through at the level they should, with me paying any additional (usually small) amounts for usage over the allowance. Until contract end when we start all over again...
Even if the amount they seem to randomly decide on is based on some sort of forecast, this should not be happening as I am doing what they instruct me to do on the bill to keep my payments the same.
So something is going wrong, on many levels.
At no point have I been offered the sort of 'monthly billing' described here; maybe there is some reason I am not allowed it. Unfortunately 'whole bill' direct debit payment is beyond me. I really need to know what I will be paying each month and I need BT to correctly take that amount, as agreed, each month, from the get-go.
It shouldn't be that hard really! Does anyone from BT read these forums? Can somebody take this on and finally get this straight, please?
