What is APSDaemon

On my laptop I regularly run itunes to sync content between my pc and my ipod. Most of the time it lags a lot and I go to the task manager. There i see itunes using only about 50% cpu and APSdaemon sing 40-50 percent usually. I end the APSDaemon process and it has no change on itunes except no lag. What is  APSDaemon and how is it used in itunes and does it do anything to itunes if i close it?

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/APSDaemon.dll/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?

Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content. (That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup at all times in case of disasters of any sort.)

  • APSDaemon.exe Error Message

What does the error message APSDaemon.exe missing from computer mean? I can no longer access itunes from my Windows computer. How do I fix this error? It seemed to happened after I tried to download the lastest update from iTunes.
    Thanks,

Same problem today. Took five times to reinstall without any error messages. Apple has posted a way to fix and you should follow their's first. I finally got to upldate correctly by doing their fix but with one difference. I did the following:
    1) Went to the C:\program files (x86)\iTunes and C:\program files\iTunes folders and moved every file ending in .dll to the desktop (even if two files in same location had the same name, just replace)
    2) Restarted computer and still got error message
    3) Uninstalled all apple programs possible in the following order......itunes, apples software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour, and apple application support.....all performed using the microsoft control panel
    4) put all the .dll files on the desktop in the trash and emptied (this is a step apple support did not specifically put in their fix but for a final try I wanted to delete everything apple).
    5) Restarted computer.
    6) Re-installed itunes from apple website
No error messages during re-install and was able to open shortcut in one try. Even updated my ipad to make sure everything was working.

  • After installing ICloud on my PC, Outlook freezes up regularly.  When I click on Icloud there is no mail. Not sure what is happening.  Please help

I recently installed ICloud on my PC.  Now my Outlook continues to freeze up and I have no emails in ICloud.  Not sure what is happening?  I logged into ICLOUD and mail is not there either.

Until Apple decides to accept responsibility and fix this issue you will need to get rid of iCloud. It's too bad because before Apple decided to throw out the patch/malware, it actually worked kind of neat. So, this is what I've done to regain control over Outlook and iTunes; re-boot the pc, launch iCloud control panel and sign out, saving data to your computer when asked. Under add/remove programs, un-install iCloud, re-boot again. Go to windows control panel under folder option, second tab (view) select "show hidden files, folders & drives" and select ok. Now double click on your "C" drive and do a "Control F" (for find). In the search box type APSDaemon.exe and hit search. Right click on this file and hit Delete sending it to your recycle bin. You may want to cut this file out of your recycle bin and place it in a temp folder until you are sure everything is working properly. You should now be able to use Outlook and iTunes without them hanging. In Outlook, under contacts you will need to move your contacts from iCloud contacts back to your default contacts folder. Under iCloud contacts do a "Control A" and drag your contacts back to their default location.
Hope this helps, in the future I would be vary leery of installing anymore Apple patches.
I am a PC and Apple trashed me!

  • APSdaemon and Home Sharing?

    Hi all,
Just wanted to post an issue that just this week I started having and figure out what is going on.  I have iTunes 10.5.2 loaded on my Windows 7 desktop and up until this week have had no issues with it.  Other than putting in a new router, I haven't changed anything with my machine configuration.  Now, when I start iTunes, I immediately get an hourglass and it hangs.  I noticed "apsdaemon" running in my list of processes and like others on this forum, once I closed it iTunes started up without any problems.  Other than the fact that now I can't sync my devices wirelessly which was nice.
Now it won't sync with my older Apple TV (doesn't show under Devices) and on my newer ATV 2 upstairs, it doesn't list my desktop under "Computers" for sharing.  I have home sharing selected in iTunes and it was showing up under the "Shared" heading on the left side of iTunes.  The ATV2 shows my home movies, playlists, etc so it obviously is locating iTunes...but for some reason the home sharing is broken.
Would the APSdaemon process being closed have something to do with the broken ATV connections?  I haven't restarted my ATV's yet so I will give that a shot.  I have the firewall turned off on my router so I don't think that is the problem.
The odd thing is that this just started happening out of the blue...10.5.2 was working fine until this week.  I am thinking about reverting back to 10.5.1 but I understand that uninstalling correctly is a pain.
    Any thoughts out there??

Are you connected to the same SSID network?
to make things a little more easy, i'd perfer to have all my itunes on a network drive for all pc's connected to one itunes and scratch the home sharing itunes to view under another itunes.
Only problem im having is that wrong pictures are showing up for movie/tv show connecting to different computers conecting to one itunes library.
Home Sharing on iPods show wrong pics
