What is best app for photo slide show with music

Photoshop, Elements, or LR - for photo slide show with music

Are those the only choices you want to consider? Which do you already use? Here's my take on the slideshow capability in each:
Photoshop CS6 and CC: You can create slieshows in a video format but you will have to crawl through hoops and climb barrels to get what you want. The timeline feature of Photoshop is not exactly intuitive.
Elements: Can't comment since I have never used the software.
Lightroom: much easier than Photoshop to create a slideshow but also extremely feature limited. Slideshows can run directly from the software or rendered as a video. Only one music track is allowed with limtied transitions effects. Want the fabled 'Ken Burns' effect? Forget it!
Neither of these choices specifically target slideshow creation and I would certainly not pick any for this purpose (unless you already use them). Best to seek software dedicated for slideshows. Several are free.

  • Ipad:  photo slide show with music problem.

Using the ipad, looking at my photo's, I select a photo, select slide show and knowing that I have already set the play music with slide show, I then press the Airplay icon. Seconds later the slide show starts on the Apple TV, but there is no music. I have checked the settings in the photo app and the music is selected in the slide show settings, what have I not done, or is there a bug in Airplay?

I am a hybrid sort of guy. I have a bland Acer desktop with Windows 7 hard-wired to a Netgear WNDR3700 router. My AppleTV is connectected optically to a set of self-powered speakers. The Sony TV is connected to the same speakers through the analog RCA output and to the Apple TV via HDMI. The AppleTV slideshow works fine with the photos from my desktop. I can simultaneously stream music from iTunes on my desktop through the self-powered speakers via the optical connection. I am currently working on a slideshow of Christmases Past while playing my Xmas playlist from iTunes. So I get photos and music simultaneously but they are not strictly connected to each other. Kind of klutzy work-around, but my family seems impressed.

    Thank you

My Photos app works the same on iOS 5 as it did on iOS 4 i.e. I can have a different track for each album. When I select a track for a photo album I then start the slideshow so that it shows the first couple of photos with the track playing - I'm not sure it's necessary to start the slideshow but I always do and it remembers that track for that album.

  • Hi, I made a slide show with music from 81 photos I downloaded from my camera.  I would like to burn these to a blank DVD, but there appears to be no utility for export to a DVD for slide shows.  Help.  I want to distribute DVD copies to classmates

Hi, I made a slide show with music from 81 photos I downloaded to iphoto from my camera.  I would like to burn the slide show to DVD, but can't make this happen.  How do I go about doing this?

If the DVD is to play on a DVD Player, then Share -> Send to iDVD as iDVD is the only app that creates the correct file structure and format for this purpose.
If the DVD is just to hold the file, then Export to the desktop and burn with the Finder.

Whats the best software for photo editing and creating product catalogues that can be saved as PDF's

You are asking two different questiions:
    1. What's a good photo editor? Answer to that here is probably obvious.
    2. What's a good desktop publishing/page layout program for creating PDF files for production? Answer, not PSE. It's a photo editor, not a page layout program.

    Hi jackwyatt,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you would like to connect your MacBook Pro to a projector to output the display and sound, the cables and adapters you need will vary depending on the specific model MacBook Pro that you have.
I recommend this page for getting a good idea of which adapters you might need:

  • I'm trying to share to Media Browser a 20 minute still slide show with music and text. I have tried several times to save at 1080 HD, but just before it's finished, a message box pops up saying "File already open with write permission."  What's this mean?

I'm trying to finalize/share to Media Browser a 20 minute still slide show with music and text. I'd like to finalize it 1080 hd and have tried several times, but just before it's finished, a message box pops up saying it can't be done because "File already open with with write permission."  What does this mean?  All files are closed; this iMovie project is the only thing open.  Does it mean one of the song files from iTunes? And should I just settle for saving it as a "large" file, which is what I'm trying right now?
    Thanks,

  • Best way to create slide show with last photo having links

What are some of the best ways to create a slide show (more like a season greeting flash) with the last photo having links and buttons for the viewer to click?
I already have the code for the slide show. What I need now is how do I reference or point to a keyframe that contains the last slide as the background with buttons and hyperlinks? Perhaps, I also need a way to not showing this slide until the last? How do I do that? This last slide with buttons and links are on it's own layer.
The other route would be to create the buttons and hyperlinks in the AS3 code instead of design time. If so, how do I do on the last slide?

  • HD computer-based slide show with music

I've been asked to do a 1024x768 slide looped slide show with background music. I know using Encore slide show to make a DVD will not supply the HD requirement. If I can play the show on a PC, I can output to a digital projector at that resolution and to an audio amplifier and speakers. Many programs will do PC slide shows for 1024x768 images, but I haven't found any that will sync to wav or MP3 audio and loop the package. Does anyone have a recommendation within or outside Adobe software?

Premiere Pro might do what you need here.
It will certainly handle the HD part, but you're gonna need a serious system to set this up.
Premiere's HD editing will go to the following resolutions:
    1440x1080 @ 16:9
    960x720 @ 16:9
    After Effects will do 1280x1080 @ 16:9
1024x768 is not an HD spec resolution.
It might be supported under WMV though.

  • Why does my slide show with music crash back to the album on Retina display?

I really enjoy making slide shows that have music on iphotonand have done it for years.  Suddenly after working with slide shows and music on my new Mac Book Pro 15" with retina display the slide show crashes back to the album display after the first slide.  The title comes up, the music starts the first slide comes up and then it just stops and goes back to the album display.  Everything was working fine until Sunday when I installed the new Iphoto.

Ok, people. No one helped me on this one, I figured it out by myself.   There is a new section in Iphoto called "slideshows" and if you move the album from which you want to make a slideshow there the  slideshow and music work perfectly together with the benefit that now you and store different music with each slide show that I hadn't been able to do before.
    Mystery solved.

  • What is best app for resizing pictures

I am looking for an app to resize the photos I download into Iphoto or other places.  Could someone recommend what is best and preferably free.

What do you mean by "resize"? You can both change the dimensions and the compression levels with iphoto.

  • What's best resolution for photos

I take very high resolution photos, 1mg files with 2000 by 3000 resolution.  It's a hold over from when I worked in publishing.
Is this overkill, or does this allow me to get the grain in a hardwood floor, details in a piece of masonary, detials that are in shadow ect. I know how to capture this with my 35mm film camera but I am using such high res to make sure I get the most detail, but I notice a lot of, well almost all photos I get else where are like 640 by 780 pixel with a 64kb file size. Am I comitting overkill or are they comitting underkill, or is the best answr somewhere in between?
Isn't the more information you have the more detail you get and the more information you have to manipulate.  When I use to work in publishing we used as high resolution photos as we could. We would send low res photos with the files then send seperate high res files that would be swopped in before printing.
I mean it does show up on the monitor and print but is it worth it in ink and memory? Or as I think, it is very subjective, once you pass a minimum resolution, which many people don't, I mean like 32k at 300 x 600.

Hard question to answer as it quite depends on what you want to do with the actual photos.
Then you have to disentangle the file size (the 32k part) from the dimensions (the pixels part)
    Dimensions:
2,000 x 3,000  isn’t very high resolution these days. That's 6 megapixels and phones come with that regularly now. Point and Shoots turn out at 14 megapixels, DSLRs start there and go up.
Pixels are about acerage. If you print the shots, then the more pixels you have the better the quality of the output at larger sizes. If we use the 300 dpi 'rule-of-thumb' as a good quality setting for printing, your 2k x 3k shot will give a maximum print size of about 8" x 10" Ever print larger? If not, then you probably don't need more pixels.
If you never print at all, then, what’s the largest screen you view on? Any pixels more than that are wasted.
    File Size:
Given the numbers you mention (1 MB 64k, 32k) I'm guessing you're referring to Jpegs.
I'm not sure where you're getting these shots at 64k etc, but they sound very very like material from Webpages and the like. These are very, very heavily compressed to make download times short. Every time  jpeg is compressed it looses data and a: these images will print very very small (using the same measure above 300 x 600 will give you  1" x 2" print) but more importantly, as they contain so little data they will print very poorly, bad colour matching, jpeg artifacts, dull, lifeless.
On screen this is less of an issue but there is still a big difference between the data available in a shot with 1mb of data behind it and one with 32k of data behind viewed at the same size. And that is perfectly preceptible on an good quality screen. So, while the shot at 1mb may get the grain on the floorboard in your example, that grain will be blurred, the colour patchy, at 64k.
Another issue to bear in mind is future proofing:
We have no idea what our photos will be viewed on in 20, 50 or 100 years time. Or even now, when folks are viewing photos on enormous HDTV screens via various devices. It's does seem obvious that the more data you preserve then the more there will be for future users to work with.
    Other considerations:
The value you place on the photos. If you're someone who snaps friends doing silly things at parties and uploads them to facebook, you might not place the same value as a serious hobbyist archiving their family history.
What camera do you use? For me, the most important element in the quality of a shot is the lens on the camera. If you're going to use a $2000 lens and compress the image to 64k then send me the lens and use your phone for snaps
Cost: How much are you prepared to spend on storage. Hard Disks are cheap but managing 40k, 50k, 100k photos takes time and thought.
In the end, when you go through all of these you can only answer for yourself. My answer is that I shoot with a DSLR in Raw, output to Jpeg when needed and preserve the original files at all costs. The jpeg I output depends on the use I have for it - and I can export at different filesizes for different uses: X to email, Y to upload to a website, Z for printing at whatever size. My wife shoots  with a Point and Shoot at 14 mp, we preserve the original in exactly the same way and ditto with the output.
The principle reason for this? Future proofing is important to us. We we're working on the basis that the more data we have preserved the better chance that it survives in a usable form for the next generations - of device and people.

  • Great 3rd Plug Ins for Photo Slide show? (Sample attached)

Looking for something like this (slide show), and would like advice.
Thing is, some say you have to update the whole thing every time you add a photo, not sure why that is, interested in seeing what's out there. Appreciate any and all advice. Also looking into Rapid Weaver, seems okay, Themes are a little dull and the plug ins don't really explain the situation well, therefore, for now, I will stick to iWeb. I too am interesting in building a music site and this is why I am using this example.
    Thank you.

If you create a web gallery with iPhoto, embed it into your web page you can then update the gallery and slideshow from iPhoto very easily without having to use iWeb again. Embedding a MMe gallery in an iWeb page is shown in this demo page: MobileMe Galleries and Quicktime Movies.
If you create an photo page in iWeb you can add new photos to it via the Media Browser and republish. Depending on where you're hosting the site you don't have to upload everyting each time. With MobileMe you can just use the Publish Site Changes and you'll only have to upload those pages that have been changed.
If you use a 3rd party hosting service you can publish to a folder, use Web Site Maestro to optimize and upload only those files that have been changed.
I don't know of any method that would allow you to just add more image files to a folder on the server as a way to add to the online photo presentation and slideshow.
If you're interested in a music site be sure to visit Roddy's iWeb for Musicians
