What is best way of configuring the channels for the PXI box

Hi,
All these days I was using a SC-2345 box and a PCMCIA card and I created all my virtual channels as traditional NI-DAQ channels. Now I am using the PXI box, I am wondering whether I still use same traditional NI-DAQ channels or shall I use NI-DAQmx channels. I would like to know what are the advantages of using the NI-DAQmx channels and also using the DAQmx VI's in the labview programming.

Hi Mudda,
I think it depends on what PXI measurement modules you are using. I'm using PXI4461 for audio measurement and the card supports DAQmx only. I also have PXI5112 digitizer card and it uses the NI-Scope driver. So you need to check which driver your module supports.

The best is you use ASM (maybe you do it already) and put one failure group on the first disk array and the second failure group on the second array. Then you can ASM let do the work.

What is the best way to create shared variable for multiple Real time (PXI) to GUI PC? I have 16 Nos of PXI system in network and 1 nos of GUI PC. I want to send command to all the PXI system with using single variable from GUI PC(Like Start Data acquisition, Stop data Acquisition) and I also want data from each PXI system to GUI PC display purpose. Can anybody suggest me best performance system configuration. Where to create variable?(Host PC or at individual PXI system).

I want to control real-time application from host(Command from GUI PC to PXI).Host PC should have access to all 16 sets PXI's variable. During communication failure with PXI, Host will stop data display for particular station.

Best way to configure search toplogoy for multiple servers farm??

My farm environment is 2 WFE and 2 App servers. Right now i am trying to configure Search Topology. what will be the best way to configure the search topology for this farm, so that query and crawling will be working perfectly. one thing i noticed with my
previous search application Crawl DB had grown 140 GB, i dont know why it happened. please look at the following screen shot, this the current topology but i want to distribute component to different server.

The best topology depends on whether you want it to be fault tolerant or not. For a fault tolerant design with this number of servers I normally create two Index Partitions 0 and 1 with each on one of the App servers. I then create Replicas of each
partition on the front end servers. I then put the query role on both web fronts ends and the crawl role on both Ap servers. So I end up with the following:
FE1 = Index Replica 0 + Query
FE2 = Index Replica 1 + Query
Ap1 = Index 0 + Crawl
Ap2 = Index 1 + Crawl

Best way to encode Quicktime file for the web?

Hello all and thanks in advance for your help with this problem.
I need to know the best way to encode a quicktime clip for the web.
This was my first try:

It works fine in safari, firefox, and ie for mac, provided they have quicktime 6 or later but it seems not to work on pc browsers. The file is encoded as an .mp4 using compressor and played with the browser's quicktime plugin. I've read that encoding files as a .mov provides greater compatibility but when i compress it as a .mov using the mpeg4 codec the file sizes are huge and when i use the photo-jpeg codec the quality is poor. h.264 looks great and has low file sizes but then my viewers have to have quicktime 7 which i think is too limiting because many will have older computers.
How should I encode my file such that it works best across browsers and platforms and has the highest quality at the lowest size?

If you open an .mp4 file in quicktime pro you can then select File->Save-As and you are presented with two options:
Save as self-contained: This will create a .mov that is the same size as your .mp4 but is playable on any system w/ QuickTime 6 and the Mpeg-4 codec. (PC's included).
Save as reference: This will create a small (>500kb) file that will simply reference the .mp4. If they're in the same folder the .mov created will open the .mp4. Without the .mp4 the .mov in this case is useless.
For what you're trying to do I suggest going with self-contained.

I did try all of the settings on the LCD display. It is 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Built in 2011 by Samsung as a HD TV, computer monitor and audio/video combo. I just let the Mac mini select the appropriate settings when I did initial startup last night. I It came with an HDMI to DVI adapter which (to me) implies I need to get the male end of the DVI adapter to connect to the 9 pin (PC input). Current HDMI is working but just not the "wow factor" that I expected from the Mac mini. Compatibiltiy issue of some kind; input/output, settings, software update, or user error Was trying to avoid getting a new monitor.

Best way to save HQ video for the web?

What´s the best settings for great video-quality for the web?
I have a 5 min long clip I´d like to put on my website.
I would like it to be 480x360 and with good quality. It´s ok if the file gets 30-40 MB.
I have tryed the Expert Settings, Quicktime Movie, Broadband - High, but the movie gets "striped".
What´s wrong?

I'm not sure what you are doing to create this problem. I create web movies all the time and have never had this problem, although, I never use the advanced settings cos I have never had to. When you go to the Quicktime export pane in iMovie you have the quality choices from full quality to web. When you select one of these it gives an estimate of the file size. For that length clip you should not need to use any setting besides full quality. I'd say the problem is coming from the 480x360 aspect ratio. This is what is compressing the file. Have you tried exporting it as full quality and then uploading it? The only problem you face by doing this is, it will take a long time for the movie to load on your website. For a short clip you may find that the CD ROM setting is sufficient.

What is best way to manage external storage for 160 GB Tiger iMac

Unfortunately I bought my 160 GB G5 a month before the Intel iMacs came out. I never thought the teens would take to movie making the way they have. I am constantly at 150 GB plus and have filled a 300 GB Maxtor external with a whole system backup image and then a whole boatload of iMovie files. I have purchased a new 500 GB WD, but is still unopened. I have also purchased but not installed Leopard. What is the recommended way to manage the external storage of all of my video - they want to make more movies! Would Time Machine work by keeping movies on for a couple of weeks and then deleting so I would have access through that interface? Help, I can't afford a newer iMac yet.

If they make movies, you will eat space. Be grateful, because if they get real good, they will be able to buy you a room full of storage. LOL.
Seriously, you do have a problem. Even though you could exchange the internal for a much larger drive, they will keep filling them. Film real estate is large. Just keep daisy chaining till you reach your tolerance limit, and if they want too make a movie after that, burn any you must delete to DVD, and then erase it.
Of course, remember, any file that is not at least 2 copies is at risk. You may want to burn some of those to DVd as backups, anyway. DVD's are very cheap.

I started out by setting up under my itunes account. When I tried the facetiming my iphone with my sons new ipod it said that I was calling even though I set it up in his name. First, you should have to Apple IDs
Second, you must have a Wi-Fi connection.
Facetime Calls
To add them go to address book and put in the Apple ID username under email.
Go to facetime, click the contacts button on the bottom. Click the name they gave them. Click the email you used for their Apple ID. It should start a call with the device hooked up with that Apple ID.
Set-Up Facetime
Go to settings. Click facetime. Sign-in with the Apple ID you are using. When someone calls that address it should give you a notification.
Texting
If you are getting a new iPod you will be getting with iOS 5 wich includes iMessage to other iOS 5 devices. Just click iMessage at the home screen and type in the name of the person with the Apple ID you want to text OR type in the Apple ID you want to text. You should start a convorsation with the iDevice hooked up to that Apple ID.
Set-Up iMessage (a.k.a. Texting)
Go to settings. Click iMessage. Sign-in with the Apple ID you are using. When someone texts that address it will notify you.

More than 16 midi tracks....best way to configure?

What's the best way to configure more than 16 midi tracks?
1) External usb midi box
2) Virtual ports
3) Apple IAC ports
4) Disconnect SUM and connect ports to channel splitters (which are then fed to the instruments)
When configuring more than 16 audio instruments, is the best way to do that to use individual midi instruments as the front end for each, setting the midi port and channel on the midi instrument?
Or...is it better to go through the channel splitters (like in #4 above)?
I've run into some kind of midi cross-talk anomaly that I can't find (still after a LONG time searching), and I can't help but think it might be in my environment setup somehow.
Anybody like a good mystery? All help appreciated!!!

Firstly, please get rid of the term VST. Logic only uses Audio Units, and they work a little differently "behind the scenes".
Ok. Now that you said the magic "only internal" synths phrase:
In the current Environment, I've made a separate "midi instrument" for each "audio instrument" device. I'm using the "midi instrument" to set the port and channel of each separately.
You do not need to do this. Because you are using internal synths (If you clue us in on WHICH ones....that could help too...unless that is a State Secret)
Somehow, I've managed to get the problem down to one annoying item: I have a chimes part that has some sustained notes that are being CUT OFF in mid-note. There is nothing in the Event List for that track that would explain this, so I'm guessing that the track must be receiving some midi data from someplace else.
My best guess is that you are playing back a Midi note that is, say XXX length, and the SAMPLE is only XX length. That would explain immediately why it is being "cut off".
OR...there is simply too much midi data at that point that the track....no that can't be because the music is thin there. I don't know. I just can't find it.
THAT is a delicious piece of speculation. Please inform yourself about what is really going on. Your posted question is totally misleading.
You don't need 16 tracks of Midi because ONE sound is not playing back the way you want. Your problem has NOTHING to do with the question that you put forth:

Where is the cut-off chime sound sample in this question??? Nowhere... and nowhere is the answer...oops...
I can't help you further, as I already spent a long time helping you set up an imaginary Midi setup that does not even exist, nor even solves your issue.
