What is Block Density & How to Calculate it?????

Dear All,
Please tell me what is Block Density and how to calculate the value os block density?
how does it effect the block or block size?
Thanks in Advance
Sujoy

1)is it possible to calculate manually by user in any way??
The computed block density(%) that we see in the database properties is computed from a sample of blocks. Manually computing it would be tedious. First, How any blocks are do we have? Then from there you'll get a sample. For each block, compute the density which is the no. of cells with value divided by total number of cells in the specific block. After getting the density for each block in your sample of blocks, get the average of all the computed block density then multiple it by 100. That is the block density for your database.
2) how it effects like as u said it shows the efficiency
large value=efficient or less value is efficient???
Large value of block density indicates that your dense-sparse setting is efficient.
Thanks.

  • What's the FPGA step size and how to calculate it?

    Hi there,
I inherited an vi with problem in it. It's basically reading the binary file then display it. So the vi reads the binary file by using Read From Binary File, the output data from this function then sends to FPGA after multiply a number (32767/10). But unfortunately I got a wrong output. The final output value for some reasons looks got attenuated. People told me maybe it's related to the FPGA step size, so I want to know what is the FPGA step size and how to calculate it. Can someone answer my questions here?
    Thanks in advanced!!!

    Hi Weny,
It sounds like you are trying to find out the output resolution of your FPGA module.  It would be helpful if you provided what FPGA module you are using in your tests so we know what information to provide.  For instance, the R Series Manual provides information on how to calculate the required DAC output code to generate the desired output voltage.  You should also try to keep the accuracy of your device in mind.  The analog output signal you are generating will be subject to gain, offset, and noise errors.  You can use the specifications sheet (such as the R Series Specifications) of your device to determine what accuracy your board will have.  The specs also provide information on the resolution of the board.  You can search ni.com for the manual and specifications for your particular device if you are not using R Series.

Well from my observation, whether SMART is disabled or enabled in the BIOS, SMART is always working within the HDD itself.
Basically SMART is acting like a blackbox, monitoring and tabulating HDD condition from time to time and its attributes only fully revealable by the manufacturers. SpeedFan's SMART status only displays partial information that is displayable. Some attributes are hidden, ~OR~ the attributes' locations are different from one HDD to another brand, such that some values don't correspond to the attribute meaning at all.
It is very doubtful to claim that enabling SMART in the BIOS will hog down the performance. Just like a transport bus (yeah real bus that fetch passenger :P ), with or without the black box installed can't help it if the driver wants to speeding. :P

    Hi Venu,
there is another way as well, however, you won't be able to see Variance and Variance% as a saperate keyfigure which is not under the period. Thats the reason I didn't mention it earlier.
What you can do is, Drag the period to the columns, Now create a structure that has the two keyfigures std price, moving price. Here if you add Variance and Variance%, Then these CKF's would come under period as well, which you don't need. And the system won't allow you to add these CKF's outside this structure. The reason being because the interpretation of the data then wouldn't make any sense here. You can create a new structure as well with these CKF's but they would become a subpart of your previous structure.
choose the required characteristics in the Rows section. Save it.

  • How to calculate the quota base quantity in quota arrangement?

    Hi all,
As we all know, when a new supplier is added in the quota arrangment, we take the help of quota base qunatity so that the new supplier does not get any unfair advantage over the existing suppliers. Would you please help me on how to calculate the quota base quantity or on what basis the quota base quantity is calculated?*
    Regards,
    Ranjan

    Dear,
Quota arrangement divides the total requirements generated over a period of time among the sources of supplied by assigning a quota.
Quota u2013 quota is equal to a number and its represents the proportionate of requirements. Total quota of all the vendors is equal to 100% of requirements.
This quota arrangement is also specific to material and plant level.
Quota rating = quota allocate quantity + quota base quantity / quota.
Quota based quantity used only when a new vendor introduced.
In the as on date situation, the minimum quota ratings will considered as preferred vendor.
The 2 vendors has 2 same quota rating, the vendor who is having the highest quota will considered first.
In the running quota, a new source of supply is included. (In situation of short supply) including a new source not means to reduce the quota for existing.

Now my question is how I can achive this? On which i need to create hierarchy?
and how to calculate the YTD at day level.
Note:- in the selection calyear is mandatory. User wants to display as per year.   So What infoobject I need to take in selection?
and the way to calculate YTD on Day (in the case also ,where user doesn't give the date in selection)
Plz reply asap its uregent !!!
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
As per my understanding I think YTD means JAN to current date result. I means say if user enter 062005 then result in YTD should be from 012005 to 062005.
And to do this you need to write a customer exit variable where LOW field of internal table you will put JAN year and HIGH will contain month year entered by user.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Windows Indexing - What is It, and How Can it Affect Me?

What is Windows Indexing, how do I use it, and why might it be getting in the way, when I am doing Video editing?
Well, most versions of Windows has a feature, called Windows Indexing. This is a little application that roams your system, looking for files, that it can Index, so that Searches are quicker. For many computers, it causes no problems, as it goes about looking at your DOC, and TXT files, compiling indexes to speed up Searches, especially for content. When it’s working, it’s behind the scenes, and usually causes no problems. When a DOC or TXT file changes, or is created, it will Lock that file, while it searches through its content for future Searching.
Now, when one is doing Video editing, they are working with some large files. Windows Indexing cannot glean anything from the AV files, or from the various working files, that an NLE (Non Linear Editor) creates, and updates constantly. The inability to extract useful info from those files does not stop Windows Indexing from trying - and trying. The files get locked, so that the user, or the NLE cannot access them, when needed. Every time that one of these files gets changed, or written, Windows Indexing will immediately Lock it, as it attempts to do its job. This can cause all sorts of issues, and many slowdowns and even program crashes.
One can find out if they have Windows Indexing turned ON, or not. It will be ON by default. Go to My Computer and click on each HDD (Hard Disk Drive), both internal and external, and then Rt-click, choosing Properties. In most versions of Windows, the Windows Indexing status will be shown near the bottom of the drop-down menu.
This differs by version, but one can usually turn it OFF for the entire HDD, or can limit it to just certain folders. I turn it OFF, as I mostly do Video and image editing on my computers, but some do leave it on, but just for folders with their DOC and TXT files, as it does speed up Searches, and Windows Indexing can speed those up, for the DOC, TXT and some similar files.
Hope that this explains why one might be getting “access denied,” “file locked,” and other errors, or major slowdowns, especially when working with large AV files, or perhaps when writing a DVD to a folder. Also, Render files can get locked by Windows Indexing, as it struggles to do its job.

Noel Carboni just posted some comments on Windows Indexing on the Photoshop Forum. Though there are some differences in the files being indexed, and some of the ramifications, I thought the info useful, so am adding it here:
    Disable Indexing
Indexing is supposed to make it quick and easy to find things on your computer using Windows Search (that little box at the upper-right of Explorer windows).
But when you think about it, does it make sense to read all the files on your disk, extract everything you could possibly want to search for, and store it on that same disk another way?  To even consider indexing providing better performance than just searching the files, Microsoft must be picking and choosing the data they think you'll want to look for (excluding data you WON'T want to search for), where you'll want to search, and in what kinds of files, and in fact they are.  How could they know everything you'll ever want to search for?
They can't.  Not everything is indexed, and never will be!
Try this:  Create a simple text file on your disk, in a temporary folder.  Call it "FindMe.log" and put in the text "This file contains important tax information".  Now navigate to that folder with Explorer and enter the word "tax" into the Search box at the upper-right.  Enter any of the words in that file!  Windows Search will not find the file, because it simply does not LOOK in .log files by default, and there's no fallback strategy - Windows Search simply does not index nor search for information for some kinds of files. Incredible!
All it takes is ONE TIME searching for something you know is there and NOT finding it to destroy your confidence in Windows Search.
And so they scan through your files endlessly, pick out the strings you might someday search for, and store them in yet another set of files (the "index").  As though your computer has nothing better to do.
Not only is the basic premise of this wrong, but it's not even implemented very well.  The index often becomes corrupted, and so Microsoft has provided functions for you to clear and regenerate it.  Just what you wanted to be doing - NOT.
    Consider these shortcomings:
Some file types are simply not indexed or searched by default – e.g., .log files, and there's no fallback.  If you create a new file type no one's seen before, its contents will not be indexed.
Only strings Microsoft thinks you are likely to search for are indexed.
Because of poor implementation, indexing will miss things in some file types that are indexed – e.g., older Microsoft Word documents or files containing Unicode text (Microsoft's own invention).
Indexes often become corrupted and the Windows Search results fall out of date or it stops finding things entirely.
Indexing operations use computer time, increase disk wear, and interfere with your own access to your files.
In summary, indexed Windows Search operations in Windows 7 simply can't be trusted to find your data in your files when it's critical, and so they're essentially useless.  Searching for filenames using Windows Search actually can be occasionally useful (though the syntax to ensure it searches only filenames is a bit tricky), but this doesn't require indexing.
Moreover, indexing can actually interfere with file operations, causing your system to report disk corruption, because of an implementation error in indexing and NTFS (search the web for "Atomic Oplock", for example).
So indexing should simply and utterly be disabled.  This won't actually stop you being able to try Windows Search - on the contrary with indexing off Windows 7 will actually search your actual files (within the limitations listed above) just when you tell it to, and (since indexing isn't implemented very well) it may actually INCREASE the probability that you might find what you're looking for.
    Here's how to disable indexing:
    1.        Click Start and enter services in the search box.
    2.        When Services (with little gears) comes up, click it.
    3.        Scroll down to the Windows Search service.
    4.        Right click it and choose Properties.
    5.        Change the Startup type to Disabled.
    6.        Click [ Stop ] to stop the service.
    7.        Click [ OK ].
    8.        Click Start and enter index in the search box.
    9.        When Indexing options comes up, click it.
    10.     Click the Advanced button.
    11.     Click the [ Rebuild ] button to delete the index.
    12.     It is a good idea to reboot after this.
    -Noel
And a "thanks" to Noel for putting this together. As the thread that this originally appeared in has a lot of Photoshop material, and discussions on "other OS's" than Win7, I just exerpted this block.

  • How to calculate HD space needed

I need to videotape a ceremony on Friday and show it very quickly afterwards. I have a new Canon XL2 cam, and I played around with capturing direct into iMovie 5 using the FW cable. My plan was to capture it this way live; at the end of the 90 min save the project, and then show via SVideo connection to a TV. Not sure how to calculate the amount of HD space I will need for 90 minutes of video. I guessI could also capture just to tape, rewind and show via SVideo, but ideally need less turn around time than that.
    Thx,

DV (Digital Video) uses up about 13 gigabytes per hour.
So 90 mins worth would need about 20GB.
But how long does it take to rewind a tape? Three or four minutes?
It'd be far better to rewind the tape, and connect the camcorder to a TV, than to lug around a Mac while you're shooting! How're you going to hold onto the Mac if you need to move around?
If you're going to be static all the time, and won't need to move, it might be OK ..but you'd need to do one or two 'dry runs' of 90 mins each FIRST to be ABSOLUTELY sure that everything goes to plan, and that the hard disc doesn't stutter, or "housekeeping" jobs within the Mac don't interfere, etc.
Of course, what might suit you better is a dedicated video-capture FireWire drive strapped to the camera, like a "FireStore". That's dedicated to video capture, and does nothing else. It also saves time later, because there's no need to capture from your tape: just edit the footage already on the FireStore disc.
But would what you get from taping the ceremony (..if you're getting paid..) pay for a FireStore? Hmm.
I'd stick with tried and trusted tape..
