What is Bluetooth on iPhone supposed to be able to do?

I have investigated thoroughly, I think, what my new (lovely) iPhone can do. Bluetooth is a mystery. I have paired it from my computer and my old Sony Ericcson P990i. The pairing appears to have happened as the iPhone shows on the G5 and Sony.
The Bluetooth icon shows on iPhone but is greyed. When trying to send a file via Bluetooth from my G5 I get the message that the iPhone does not support this service. It doesn't seem to support any service. So, what do Apple say it can do? Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the quick read and response. Do you feel the issue might lie with the fact that it is a Mac Mini? And possibly just not powerful enough to run Leopard Server? I have to say in our trials with MacPro it was like night and day as to how they performed. And if you could elaborate on this "Many VPNs don't play well with NAT so your VPN server should have a direct connection to the public network (preferably firewalled, of course, but not NATted)." Most every SoHo and for that matter uses simple NAT translation for security even our multi thousand dollar Cisco PIX and ASA's are basic NAT devices to start with. How would you put the VPN on public net while keeping the attack surface low for the rest of the services like file, web, mail and print?
Don't get me wrong I want this to work more than you can imagine. We are so tired of supporting MSFT technologies that cost thousands a year in antivirus, antispyware, antispam and other malware protection for the enterprise. We know that Leopard has great potential but for an integrator, getting this system up and functional is not an easy task. And the worst part of it is every time we have called for support the tech always lets out a sigh when they hear we have run standard setup because they are not allowed to walk us thru the server console to make repairs. And have been told by 3 techs so far that this is a new product and the support avenues are not there for standard since it just supposed to work out of the box. But when it doesn't then ohh well. Which is sorta sad...

Use of Bluetooth in iPhone 3G

I was wondering if I am able to send photos, music, and other files from my iPhone to my MacBook Pro using the iPhone's bluetooth features? I was able to pair the MacBook Pro with the iPhone using the Bluetooth, but when I tried to send small files to my Mac, I was not going anywhere.
What are some good uses of bluetooth in iPhone 3G other than using it for headset?
Any help would be appreciated.

For what? Some BT accesories will give the pairing code that you need to enter on the iPOd. The iPod does not have any BT passsword. Here are the pairing instructions from the Users Guide
Pair a Bluetooth headset, car kit, or other device with iPod touch:
1 Follow the instructions that came with the device to make it discoverable or to set it to search for
other Bluetooth devices.
2 Go to Settings > General > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on.
3 Choose the device on iPod touch, and enter its passkey or PIN number. See the instructions about
the passkey or PIN that came with the device.
After you pair headphones with iPod touch, the product name and appear on the screen when
you are viewing audio or video playback controls. Tap to switch to a different audio output,

Just what are you tryng to pair the iPod with? You can't pair with a computer or phone (except BT tethering with an iPhone for internet service if you supscribed to the tethering plan on the iPone.

How to set up Bluetooth with iPhone and computer

I am now the proud owner of a brand new iPhone 3GS 32GB and I'm in love...
I'm trying to set it up with Bluetooth. I used to be able to "Bluetooth" files to and from my computer with other mobile devices but I have difficulties with the iPhone. It won't connect. Anybody knows what I need to do? Cheers.

The iPhone _does not_ support Bluetooth file transfer. You must use the USB cable for syncing, or there are file transfer/storage apps in the App Store (Files, File Magnet, Air Sharing, there are lots) that use Wi-Fi.
On the iPhone, Bluetooth is limited to voice calls, music streaming to stereo headphones, and tethering (using the phone as a cellular modem). Tethering requires carrier support - O2 and Orange support it, Tesco does not.

I have the 4 and 5S and other than the finger print reader there's really not much difference in ease of use. In my opinion the finger print reader makes the phone easier, or perhaps I should say nicer to use if you use the passcode lock. Both phones have the same OS version and operate the same way albeit the 5S is faster and smoother. You also get a bit of software eye candy with the 5S thats not on the 4. The camera on the 5S is significantly better than the 4 which I thought was quite good considering its a phone. Or is it a camera with a phone? No matter, there are other small differences but I think you'll appreciate what the 5S has to offer.

If your iPhone is locked to a wireless provider, only that wireless provider
can unlock it. Contact the wireless provider in Hong Kong to see if they
offer unlocking and if you qualify.
If your iPhone is locked to an AppleID that you do not know, return it for
a refund as it is useless. Only the person whose AppleID was used for
activation can remove the lock. There is no workaround for Activation Lock.
If neither of the above is what you are facing, provide more detail so someone
may offer a solution.

My iTunes library doesn't match what's on my iPhone

I wasn't sure if I should post this under iPhone or iTunes so forgive me if this is in the wrong place.
Basically, there are discrepancies between my iTunes library and what's on my iPhone. Yes, everything is checked and I know how to sync. I also understand all the nuances of artist names, genres, etc.
It appears that all of the music is there, but it doesn't all show up when sorting my artist, song or album. Here are 2 examples:
I have 2 Amy Winehouse records in my iTunes library; Back to Black and Lioness. Both records are also on my iPhone. However, when I pull the list of records by ARTIST only Lioness shows up. To find Back to Black, I have to sort by ALBUM and then I can find it.
I have 4 Norah Jones records in my library; Come Away with Me, The Fall, Little Broken Hearts and Not Too Late. All records are also on my iPhone. However, when I sort by ARTIST only 3 of the records appear (the Fall is missing). If I sort by ALBUM, it is there.
These are 2 examples, but there are several more.
This is very annoying because I can't always remember the name of records but I do remember the artist, of course.
I have tried re-syncing. I have looked very carefully at the artist name to make sure they all appear EXACTLY the same...they do. No spaces, nothing.
Any thoughts?? Thank you for your help!

The missing Albums may be ones where the Artist is not listed as also being the Album Artist in the tag. Try going to Settings>Music and turn Group By Album Artist to Off. See if the missing albums now show in the Artist view. If so, you can either leave the setting this way, or if you prefer it to be on, go to iTunes on your computer and put the correct name in the Album Artist field of the tag (on the Info tab of the tab) for the albums in question and sync your phone.

i bought an iphone 4 9months ago and the software was upgraded to iOS5 last month. since then i noticed that by the time i used to connect my iphone into my pc the itunes did not sync so i'd just tolerate as not a big deal for me... this is the problem that i have. yesterday evening, my iphone 4 was connected to my pc at the same downloading viber again from itunes at the moment i wanted to disconnect my iphone its dead! shut it off. i kept on switching evry10sec but there was no power. i knew there's enough battery as it connected in my pc. well, i gave up and leave it but 36hrs after when i'd tried again to switch on i saw on the lcd battery icon is red So i've charged immediately. now fine! i just want to share with you this experience... why its like this. Thanks there.
