What is Card Manager and how does it work ?

Hi everyone,
I would like to know how can I find complete description about "card manager"?
If there is any document or link that have explained it ,please inform me.
yours sincerely,
Orchid

Since it is part of the GP API, the only way to handle the CVM PIN is through an Applet. So you need one "Global PIN" Applet, with which you can set/block/submit/verify a the CVM PIN. All other Applets will implement a verification of the CVM PINin the select() method:
     public boolean select () {
          CVM cvm = GPSystem.getCVM(GPSystem.CVM_GLOBAL_PIN);
          if(!cvm.isVerified())
               return false;
          else
               return true;
     }

  • What is iTunes Match and how does it work?

    What is iTunes Match and how does it work? I have several tunes on my computer that do not show complete. The source of these tunes are from my own CDs.

    iTunes match - http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/ - see FAQ at end too
    Basically it looks at the music you have in iTunes.  If it sees the equivalent on the iTunes Store site it does nothing, but it makes that copy accessible to you to download.  If you have music  it doesn't it will upload a version from your computer to the site that only you can access from anywhere online.
    In your case if you have incomplete tracks it will not fix them.  It does some kind of audio fingerprinting to make sure you aren't just feeding it a bunch of 60s demonstration cuts and trying to get whole tracks back.

  • What is 'mobile account' and how does it work?

    This is a hidden feature in Mac OS Leopard, that I believe require an Leopard Server on the network.
    I have not found it in the regular user interface, but it can be revealed by following the below process:
    1. Go to System Preferences > Accounts
    2. Unlock
    3. Search for mobile account, and press Enter
    4. Wait for the Mobile account options to show up
    What is this feature? How does it work?
    I have found no references to it in the normal documentation.

    Google is your friend:
    "A mobile account is a Mac OS X Server user account that has been copied to a local computer and remains synchronized with the server account so that both locations contain a matching set of data."(Mac OS X Server User Management, p. 46).
    And it has been around since 10.3, so it is not something new to Leopard.

  • What is a codepage and how does it work?

    Like any application, DI needs to know which "codepage" to use when processing data. Codepages are character encoding tables. Codepages are necessary because ultimately, all software operates with sequences of bytes, not the actual letters or numbers that you see on a computer screen. Operating systems and other software applications use codepages to map sequences of bytes to specific characters. Those characters can be single-byte characters such as English or French or multi-byte characters such as Korean or Chinese. Do not assume each language has it's own codepage. Codepages provide a mapping for a specific set of characters, and in the case of codepage MS1252, many languages such as English, French, German, and Swahili all use the same codepage. This is possible because they share many characters such as "a", "b", "c", etc... MS949, on the other hand, only maps to Korean. Some codepages, such as UTF-8, UTF-16 and UTF-32, map to a standard generally known as Unicode. This is very useful because Unicode is the character set which includes almost all known characters in the world today. When processing both multi-byte and single-byte data, a Unicode codepage is recommended, which in the case of DI is equivalent to UTF-8 .

    How to identify which codepage is installed  on our OS?
    I have windows XP on my machine.

  • Firefox update installs, but does not apprearon screen, or task manger yet is running what is going on and how does one fix it?

    I installed the update Mozilla Firefox 28. It was suppose to launch upon completion. it did not appear on the monitor screen, nor the task manager, but was running; for when I attempted to install the older version again it, it said that Firefox was running and needed to be turned off.
    I restarted the computer and tried opening Firefox, with the same results.
    After restarting again, I attempted to reinstall the update, with the same results taking place.
    I attempted to uninstall Firefox and install the new version. The same results took place.
    In the past, I could install Firefox 27 update, only now I can't for the same thing takes place. Past a certain version (19), this event takes place, but 19 and older can install it with no problems.
    I checked Firefox troubleshooting information. All was normal. I checked my firewall. Again, all was normal. Tried Firefox reset. Did not help. Tried with my firewall disabled. Did not solve the problem.
    Ran a virus check (deep) no viruses. Checked my computer system. No errors.
    I can install updates for my other programs, even install new programs; just not Firefox.
    What is going on and how does one fix it.

    Hi Amseeking,
    Thank you for your question. From your description, you tried to install the 28 update from a version 19 installation. Did you install a fresh install of 28 successfully? Where the name of the file is"Firefox Setup Stub 28.exe"? This is what is sound like happened. When going to about Firefox and searching for updates it installs over the current installation. However if Firefox was already running, there are more than one installation.
    Updating from version 19 to 28 would not be a problem. However the user data from your previous version would have to be imported to the new installation if you have more than one install on that computer.
    An easy way to tell is to search for Firefox in the Start menu to see if more than one icon shows up in the search results.
    I hope this helps.

  • What is "Assisted GPS" on the iPad and how does it work?

    What is "Assisted GPS" on the iPad and how does it work?

    I purchased the iPad mini Wi-Fi & Cell because it has GPS. OK, it is assisted GPS but the GPS works very well as stand alone. I got the iPad mini for use in flight, so I dont even have a sim card in it. The GPS works perfectly in flight under all conditions. I have cross checked it against typical approved aircraft installations and it is very accurate at all times. I use it in Wi-Fi mode on the ground when updating my aviation database, when planning a flight, or similar circumstances. The primary advantage of A-GPS is quick location reading when first turned on, when on the ground where the GPS satellites signal may be of reduced quality. At 10,000 feet plus, it is a stand alone GPS. I have frequently turned the iPad off in flight for periods of time and when powering up, it gave me accurate positioning in a few seconds, never exceeded 10 seconds. I have also tested my iPad on the ground, using the aviation maps, and the GPS works perfectly also.
    It remains possible that there is some feature that enhances the GPS when on the ground, even if there is no sim card in the iPad. But I doubt that any of these would work in an aircraft at high altutide. Nonetheless, I would appreciate knowing more about this.

  • Menu Object; MANUAL option. What is this, and how does it work?

    What is this... and, how does it work? Can't find documentation on this.

    My knee-jerk reaction is, "are f'n kidding me?"... but, of course, you're not.
    I must say, that is an incredibly useless option. How would that 'option" differ from simply making a text object (or text/rectangle/image combo or group) and creating a link?
    What got me looking at this option was the hope to find some way to insert a dynamic "field" that could be used on a master page to display the current page title (of a page based on that master). Something similar to Word (and other applications) that you can enter information into a document property and then insert that information anywhere within the document by using a field code for that info. I don't know if there is an HTML code that could be used to accomplish this, in this case. Something that would refer to the page title.
    Thanks for the info none-the-less.

    I would like to know which app/software in MAC gives us the same feature that is provided by System Restore in Windows, and how does that work.

    Time Machine is one such program, although it is a recursive backup program which offers limited archive capability, based on the capacity of the backup destination, and it requires you set it up before you start editing your files.   Some programs are also Versions aware, which offers a kind of restore capability by file.  Again needs to be setup before you start editing.

  • What is efax and how does it work?

    Hi!
    eFax® is a service provided by eFax®, not Hewlett-Packard, that allows you to send and receive faxes using the Internet rather than a phone line. eFax® is easy to use, but it is different than a typical phone-based fax machine. You don't require a phone line to use it, so you don't have to worry about busy signals and you can place your printer where you want it, not where the phone jacks are located! The fax number you are provided will not typically be a local number, and may even be in a different country. You will receive 20 incoming and 20 outgoing fax pages per month for free with this service. Your page counts will reset at midnight Pacific Time on the first of each month. You can also subscribe to eFax® Plus to obtain additional pages per month by visiting: http://www.eFax.com/products/internet-fax.
    How does it work?
    eFax® uses the printer Internet connection to send and receive faxes. When you send a fax, it is sent over the Internet to the eFax® server and then eFax® sends your fax to the recipient's fax machine over a standard phone line.
    Your faxes are received in a similar manner, but the order is reversed. The sender sends the fax over a phone line to eFax® and then eFax® sends the fax to your printer using HP's ePrint service.
    This question was solved.

    Hi Im_cheesecake,
    Great information, if you don't mind I just wanted to piggy back off of your post, to clear any potential confusion.
    The 20 free incoming & 20 free outgoing faxes are with HP printer's that include the eFax service print app.  As of now, we have three printer series' that include the pre-installed eFax print app: HP Photosmart 7510 Series, HP Envy 110 Series, and the HP Photosmart eStation C510a.
    eFax also has a free plan which allows you to receive a limited number of faxes but does not allow you to send any faxes. If you exceed the number of received faxes allowed, eFax will prompt you to upgrade to a paying account. Here are the main details of the free plan:
    One remote (i.e. non-local) eFax number
    Area code/prefix is selected by eFax and cannot be changed (unless you upgrade to a paid account)
    20 incoming fax pages per month (receive-only)
    You are prompted to upgrade to a paying account if you exceed 20 incoming pages, or if you need send capability.
    Say "Thanks" by clicking the blue Kudos Star in the post that helped you.
    Please mark the post that solves your problem as "Accepted Solution"; therefore, it's easier for others to find.

  • Group MMS- what is it and how does it work?

    I'm rarely one to ask questions about the iphone but I got my iphone 4G and today realized there was a setting that says group mms. I turned it on. I sent a text message to two people, expecting their replies to appear in the same window but they came as seperate relies. Was I wrong in assuming group mms meant replies from multiples would appear in the same window as the sent message? Please explain what Group MMS is and how it works. Thanks!

    Glad to help. One thing to add...
    First, in my example, I missed something...when Person B asked if someone could purchase his ticket, obviously he doesn't get his own text back to himself. I was rush typing that response, so just typed A through E, and didn't think of that, haha.
    Funny enough, this is the exact situation that made me realize what the group messaging was. I was beta testing the 4.0 Golden Master, and turned that feature on, thinking that I could go to my contacts and multiselect contacts, instead of adding them one by one from the messaging app. When my friends and I made plans for a movie, I had forgotten to turn this feature off, and everyone was having a grand old time chatting with each other, via this feature on my phone.
    After realizing what was going on, and some more testing to confirm accurate results, I found a slight use to this feature. Kind of cool, but can be a pain that you can turn it on "on the fly", and have to dig through the menus to enable it. Would also be much better to assign the feature to specific text threads, instead of having it apply to all group texts. I usually have a group thread going to inform my friends of free apps, and occasionally group message when coordinating. Don't need it enabled for the free apps thread, but no way to keep it on for one, but off for the other. Oh well...
    Oh, and if anyone was wondering, I was Person A and Person E, haha.
    EDIT: Second fail in my post was that you have to have the feature enabled BEFORE you send your group text out. Oh well, this stuff happens when the coffee shop person is on my neck, telling me that I cannot have anymore donuts, and that I must leave the vicinity. ;-D

  • PSE 5--what is a clipping mask and how does it work?

    Can anyone explain what a clipping mask is, how it works, and most importantly if Photoshop Elements 5.0 has this capability?
    Also, are there any tutorials out there that I can teach myself on this topic? I am trying to mimic a layout explained in digital scrapbooking magazine and this technique is used.
    Thank you!
    Heather

    Heather,
    You can find one explanation at Janee's tutorials: http://www.myjanee.com/tuts/elements/elemask.htm
    Since PSE does not support layer masks per se, the clipping group simulates a layer mask and hence Janee's name for it, "elemask" (cute, huh?)
    Here are 2 examples:
    In this example I wanted to blur the background leaving the flower in focus:
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1euavV1sDqzrEqqqierfc5dSEH9yI01
    1. Duplicate the Background layer and apply a Gaussian blur to the new layer.
    2. Add an adjustment layer below the blur layer (any kind of adjustment layer will do), but do not make any adjustment - just click OK.\
    3. Group the blur layer with the adjustment layer. On the adjustment layer paint the subject with black
    to mask out the blur, paint with white to restore the blur.
    Of course you can use other tools on the adjustment layer besides the paint brush, e.g., make a selection and fill with the black or white. In some cases it might be easier to first fill the adjustment layer with black and then paint with white.
    In this example (not actually a mask but still demonstrates a clipping group) I wanted to crop the picture into a leaf shape.
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1ys9Z7FspSwF8HHKGLrxjGVhbTodmF0
    1. Use the leaf from the Custom Shape tool to draw out the leaf, creating a new layer.
    2. Move the leaf layer below the picture layer.
    3. Group the two layers.
    Note that in order to move a layer below the Background layer you have to rename the Background layer to anything else (layer 0 in my example).
