What is causing Lookout to Lock-Up
I am running Lookout V6.6 on an HP desktop computer with Windows 7 64-bit OS. Lookout is running in XP mode. We are experiencing increasing frequency of the Lookout application locking-up. Yes, not much of a SCADA system when this happens. The OS System Manager shows Lookout "Not responding" and I have to reboot the computer before Lookout will operate again.
This is a simple SCADA system controlling two well sites with lead and lag pumps at both sites. It seems that lockups may occur more frequently when two pumps are being turned off near simultaneously. The computer uses a serial connection to a Zetron Controller talking to two Zetron RTU's in the field.
Not running 6.6 here regularly so can only recommend on my own observations.
Symbolic links that user a dynamic connection can cause a slow down when starting, especially if the link connects to another object that may use a symbolic link itself.
Customer drivers (CBX) and ActiveX controls can cause issues.

I recently purchased the NI serial-usb 4 serial port interface box because I was having a problem of my serial ports locking up, and I thought the problem might be with my serial port card. Well, after a few days with the NI boxes 2 of my serial ports locked up. This is a big problem that I need to get resolved. If anyone has any ideas on what might be causing this please let me know.
I am running Lookout 5.0 (build 7) and Logos 4.4.0.17 on a Dell Windows XP machine with 1GB RAM and a 2 GHz processor. I have already tried recompiling my Lookout file and clearing out my database but the problem still occurs. If I restart the file then the ports start working fine again, but I need to know what is causing this since this
wasn't a problem until about 2 months ago.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

I have Laplink running on the computer all the time, and we do have 2 SCADA packs in the field at this time, but I don't run the Telepace program on this computer. This computer does not have a modem. As far as the serial port card, I was using a "Byterunner" 4 serial port card but I purchased the NI 4 serial port -usb interface because I thought the byterunner card might be the problem.
Do you think Laplink could be causing the problem?

Voicemail is left at your carrier's server. That will continue to work unless you report your iPhone as lost or stolen with your carrier.
You may never find it again and you can't if the iPhone remains offline or out of service which means the iPhone is powered off or doesn't have cellular reception. -
Occasionally my caps lock key blinks some time later my keyboard locks up what is causing the blinking and is it related to my keyboard locking.
This blinking occurs when no keyboarding is going on.
Back-up is not running.

The normal practice is to use the Shift key when typing a single Capital letter, as in a name or the beginning of a sentence, and the Caps Lock key to type all caps. The easiest thing would be for you to retrain your little finger to use the Shift instead of Caps Lock. I know of no way to display an icon at the bottom of the monitor to display that the caps lock key is engaged.

I have a strange problem. When I put my iphone 4S into my pocket (pants or coat) and move it around, the phone makes a beep noise/tone. I can't figure out what is causing the noise. It doesn't sound like any of my regular applications. Maybe it is the lock noise but I can't tell for sure. More movement makes more beeps. Even walking with my phone in my pocket creates beeps. The IOS is 7.0.4 (11B554a). Anyone else have this crazy problem?

Lightroom Help Causes App to Lock-Up
I am a new user of Lightroom and have loaded it on a Windows 7 64bit Home Edition laptop. Whenever I click on "Lightroom Help" or "Lightroom Module Help" in the Help menu, the application locks up. I get the same results with version 3.3 (which I downloaded) and version 3.2 (which is what was in the package I bought). The application loads Lightroom 64bit by default, but I also loaded the 32bit version to see if it would work there as well. No combination I try seems to make a difference. Being that I am a brand new user of Lightroom, not having help available is a big deal to me - and I am not always connected to the internet whenever I am using the app so online help isn't a suitable substitute either. Additionally, I am concerned that there is something else lurking in the background that is going to cause the app to lock-up that I just haven't discovered yet.
In the System Event Log, I only see this message accompanied by a 1002 Event code:

Minimizing Discoverer Plus causes it to lock up
We have a user who complains that when he minimizes Discoverer Plus for a long period of time and then tried to maximize it, it locks up and he has to do a ctl-alt_del. Has anyone ever encountered this before?

I completed my test and it was inconclusive as Discoverer did not lock up. I correctly got the message saying that Discoverer was about to time out, although I ignored it as if I wasn't there. About a minute later I got the message that Discoverer had timed out and that message remained in the browser window no matter how long I ignored it. As soon as I clicked on the minimized browser Discoverer told me it had timed out and asked me to click the OK button.
Therefore, I'm not convinced that the timeout is the cause of Discoverer locking up. At least not for 10.1.2.2 anyhow which is what I'm using.

Kernel_task using 16 Million Terabytes of memory - what's causing this?
According to Activity Monitor kernel_task is using 16,777,216 TB of virtual memory.
Obviously, there is some (overflow?) bug somewhere (is that number the maximum allowable memory on a 64-bit system?), and Virtual Memory doesn't really mean much in the real world, but is there a way to track down what is causing this, given that kernel_task going wrong can bring down the whole system.
This reappears after a restart - and in fact for the first time in memory my computer locked up a few days ago, so I'm wondering if there is a connection.

try doing a reset, hold down the home/power button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up. See if that helps,

When you power it on, you should get a red Pilot light when it's ready to fire. If you press the light (it's a button) it should test-fire the flash. That will confirm the flash actually works.
You can tell the camera to disable the flash... this is useful when you just want to use the flash's focus-assist beam to help the camera lock focus, but do not actually want the flash to fire. Check your camera menu... probably under "External Speedlite Control" -> "Flash Firing" and check that it is set to "Enable".

What are causes of port lockups ?
We are using Unity 4.0.3 and one port has been busy for more than 48 hours. Resetting from the ADmin page didn't help so we rebooted the CU box and it reset the port.
Question is what could have casued the port to lock up / get busy in a long time ? Please advise.I'd love to give you a definitive list of what can cause a port to lockup but the answer is probably one that you don't to hear but, nonetheless, it is an honest answer. Port lockups can be caused by ALL kinds of issues...TSP errors, TSP mismatches between Unity and CUCM (compatibility issues), software/service hang-ups, codecs, network connectivity blips, software bugs, the list goes on. Other old things that come to mind is issues with the use of speed control during message playback, a SCCP bug that would cause Unity to think a port was in use but CUCM would release the call as per protocol, and so on. In older versions of Unity such as 4x, issues with TSP are not uncommon at all. Technically, a port is considered "locked" if it's been stuck in a non-idle state for more than 1 hour.
