What is causing my SMTP timeout error?

When I send emails using thunderbird I am frequently getting the error message:
"sending of email message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to the SMTP server smtp.googlemail.com timed out. Try again or contact your system administrator"
I have tried disabling AVG antivirus and my windows firewall but that has not helped, I've even created exceptions to the firewall for thunderbird.
Any help would be appreciated.

Shutdown Emsisoft virus prot., turned off firewall, got into Verizon router (btw, I'm going right into the Verizon router-not thru a switch), no port forwarding, even tried to forward an email in Safe mode in Win 8.1 x64. What is causing this "The timeout period elapsed during the post-login phase."?

This is happening on a shared environment running DataCenter. We are doing a bulk merge of about 100 plus records. It is failing in different spots but always the same error. Sql has no error logs, and we are not seeing locks.
We need some hints as to what this error message really means.

Well, at first hand, it looks like a "time-out", obviously.
I would check the system's resources, if it's extremely busy at that time at first. Especially CPU.. and general Login statistics

What might cause this ftp put error?

In JCAPS5.1.3 I got an error:
FtpFileClientImpl.put(): No connection is available. The ConnectionEstablishmentMode is [Automatic].
Unforunately any stacktrace is lost. Can anyone give some hints as to why the automatically connecting connection wasn't available?

You don't set a CLASSPATH with Tomcat. It ignores
your system CLASSPATH if you have one, so if that's
what you mean by "in there", that's not helping you.
You need to find the JAR with that .class file in it
and put it in TOMCAT_HOME/common/lib. That way every
context running on that Tomcat server will see it.
If that's what you have, then I don't know why you're
getting this error.

OP - I don't know about your next problem, but it's only a "warning" - looks like if you're not trying to do attachments with the API, you'll be fine. Otherwise, apparently you'll need some J2EE jar in your run-time classpath - is that happening on the client side, or the server side (shouldn't be the latter, as it is running in a J2EE container, so I wouldn't expect it to complain about not finding those classes)

SMTP Timeout - I tried everything

I'm getting an SMTP Timeout Error. Here's what I've tried:
-Checking my SMTP settings
-Resetting my email password then updating it in Thunderbird
-Reinstalling Thunderbird
-Deleting my Thunderbird profile and re-adding it (many times)
-Using a different SMTP (Amazon SES)
-Disabling my firewall
-Disabling my anti-virus (Microsoft Security Essentials)
-Using ports 25, 465, and 587
-Deleting my password, then re-adding it when prompted
-Deleting all passwords in the password manager
-Tried using no security/protection, SSL, TLS, etc.
-Adding port exceptions to firewall
-Adding Mozilla exceptions to firewall
-Removing exceptions from firewall

I receive emails just fine, sending is the problem. I've had this problem for a few months now and it's getting really annoying.

The only thing I got from the log:
0[220f140]: SMTP Connecting to: smtpout.secureserver.net
I am using a DSL Modem, however I'm in Germany using Telekom. The modem is a Speedport 724v (pretty restrictive in general), which is actually a modem/router combo (I hate them but there was no other option).
After doing a port scan this is what I've found (hopefully this is accurate):

Edit: I also do use FTP (FileZilla, assuming it uses port 21) and I have no issues.

SMTP transient error

Sometimes I get the following error message.
ORA-29278
which means

My problem is this does not happen all the time. If the form works and then i get this message how can i track it down. I think someone here is doing something with the smtp. How do i know that smtp is working right now.

thanks for pointing out that documentation issue, i'll log it in a bit. we now call those internal preferences "engine settings". you can get to that section of the admin screens by clicking the first link available in the htmldb_admin interface called "Manage Engine Settings". make sure you do set your SMTP_HOST_ADDRESS and SMTP_HOST_PORT preferences from there before you do this mail stuff. once that's set, you can push you queue with a command like...

wwv_flow_platform.get_preference('SMTP_HOST_PORT'));
...but you'll find your FLOWS_ user already has that db job scheduled by default. about your smtp error, i'd confirm that it's not a db issue first by trying to send mail from the operating system level. if you can send mail from there (w/o using the db and not from within html db), do let us know. the url in your error message, http://pobox.com/~djb/docs/smtplf.html, seems to suggest that the problem has to do with your SMTP server, so eliminating the other variables (like the db and html db) would be a good start.

Creating new VM ends with Error code 3430 and 3040 in Hyper-V log. Does anyone have any insight into what might cause this?

I have blownout the server and reinstalled the operating system and SCVVM and applied all the current updates to no avail. I have the exact same issue again. The problem seem to be at least on the serface an authority problem because I have no problem creating
new VM via the P2V process on an old Virtual Server running on Win2003R2.
Oh yes I can create new virtual machines on the system in question and move them to the library as was suggested to verify in a Blog post so I am really wondering what the problem is?
Configuration Analyzer Just gave me a warning about reporting not being setup on the VVM which it isn't so no suprise there?
Any information that might help me figure this would be greatly appreciated

With Photoshop CS4 for Mac I install the Kodak Plug-in DIGITAL GEM Airbrush Professional v2.1.0. When Photoshop starts I get an error:

Thanks Chris, That was my first thought too but this same plug-in works on another installation of CS4. This is a Mac installation and the plug-in is Universal so it should work. Is there any other possible cause for this error? Would Photoshop refuse to load a plug-in in a low memory situation?
Also, The Flash extensions:Connections and Kuler are working OK, I just copied a little more out of the System Info report than I needed to.

What has caused "data error count" under execution detail on Audit browser

I have a simple mapping that load data from external table to target fact table. From OWB Runtime Audit browser, the Execution Details page show the status= Complete + <Red error sign>. And the value under Data error count is 2563. Where can I look for information about what has caused this errors or what the data error are? The SQL*Loader log file looks OK and no bad file generated. And I don't see suspecious under WB_RT_AUDIT*, WB_RT_ERROR tables It's owb9ir2 on 9iDB Thanks.

Solved. I set the audit level to the highest and re-executed and can see the error msg now. It would be nice if audit broser can show the report for all the rejected rows.
