What is Clearing ?

Hello,
May be it a very simple question but, I am really confused with the terminology, What is Clearing ?
Is clearing mean pay off, for example if vendor has some outstanding payment, and when payment is done it move to clearing. so does that mean clearing is nothing but paying off for vendor scenario, receiving payment for Customer Scenario and for GR/IR ?
Please help

  • Is there a way to automatically clear GLs against a lump sum bank statement

    Good day, everyone.
I would like to ask if  there is anyone aware of a a process that can help resolve the following.
Currently, whenever we execute an EFT payment run through f110, SAP knows to credit the relevant GL account. If, for example, there are 20 vendors in the run, SAP will post to the GL lines for each vendor. However, the bank statement we recieve is only in lump sum. Thus, when we upload the bank statement into SAP, only the lump sum amount is reflected in the GL, and if we want to clear it, we do so manually through F-03 for each Vendor account.
While this is technically not wrong, it can be inefficient and time consuming if there are too many vendors in a particular run. I would like to know if there is a way to streamline this process by making it run automatically. Is there a way we can make it so that the system will know what to clear automatically, once the bank statement is uploaded?
Your feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! I hope you have a great day!

  • Field Dominance and De-interlacing: what settings to use?

I've been trying to read about, and understand, the issues of deinterlacing and field dominance/order, but I'm having problems and don't yet see what the clear solution is.
I'm shooting DV footage with a consumer grade camcorder:
Capture Preset: DV NTSC 48 kHz
    Sequence Preset: DV NTSC 48kHz
    720x480 NTSC DV
    QT Video Compressor: DV/DVCPRO-NTSC
The problems are "teeth and vertical lines" in the quick movements and transitions, but fixing one (by changing the "Field Dominance" setting in the Sequence) makes the other slightly worse, it seems.
Or, maybe I should be using the de-interlacing filter on everything? I haven't found clear instructions about what destination material this should be used for...
I'd be grateful if someone could look at this web page containing examples of what I mean:
    http://www.karma-lab.com/images-pub/apple-q/fielddom_nt.html
Picture 1: NTSC DV frame, from sequence set to "Lower (Even)"
Picture 2: NTSC DV frame, from sequence set to "None"
Picture 3: frame from "Cross Zoom" transition in "Lower (Even)" sequence
Picture 4: frame from "Cross Zoom" transition in "None" sequence
    Questions:
    1) What are the correct settings? it would seem to be "None", because otherwise my transitions all have "teeth" and look like somebody is viewing it cross-eyed, even at full speed you can see the teeth in the transitions. But if I set it to none, then it seems that quick movements of the people in the videos get slightly more "teeth" to them...
    2) I am producing web video (quicktime/flash video movies). Not for TV or broadcast. Am I supposed to throw the de-interlacing filter on everything?
with "lower", it's jerky (half the frames missing, I guess) but the "teeth" go away
with "flicker-free", it's not jerky, but it gets a little fuzzy looking, and I want to keep things "crisp"...
I need less advice on the theory, and more advice on "set it like this for what you are doing." I've read some really technical explanations, and I understand why interlacing exists etc., but not exactly what I should be doing to get the optimal results for my needs, i.e. simply good-looking web video with decent motion and transitions, shot from a consumer level DV camcorder.
    Thanks for reading!
    G4 Dual 800 QuickSilver / PBook G4 Titanium   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    What are the correct settings?
Since you mention that you've shot your material on a consumer-grade camcorder, that would mean that Field Dominance – in your FCP Sequence Settings – should be set to Lower. If you use None – and I'm sparing you the tech talk here – then you're basically rendering out at a reduced quality (as the last pic in your link demonstrates)
I am producing web video (quicktime/flash video movies). Not for TV or broadcast. Am I supposed to throw the de-interlacing filter on everything? with "lower", it's jerky (half the frames missing, I guess) but the "teeth" go away with "flicker-free", it's not jerky, but it gets a little fuzzy looking, and I want to keep things "crisp"...
If you really want to keep things crisp, you best quality option - within the Final Cut Studio suite of tools - is to Export Using Compressor, with the Deinterlace option in Compressor 2.x's Frame Controls to Better (Motion Adaptive) while setting your Output Fields to be Progressive (presuming that you'll exporting to QuickTime first, then converting to Flash. Having said that, this type of conversion can take a long time to process and may not be suitable if you're under a serious time constraint.
Otherwise, the speediest option is indeed to slap a Deinterlace filter onto everything (or nest your sequence then place the filter on the nest) but the quality isn't always what folks would like.

  • Automatic clearing of Intercompany  postings in In-House Cash?

    Dear Sirs,
can anyone confirm that If we are using In-house Cash we can get intercompany invoices automatically cleared?
    For example:
    Company A: vendor:
    Company B: customer.
If company A make an invoice over company B, when we process the payment in company B we will get both the invoicing postings, in both companies, automatically cleared? Also, we would like to know if the receivable is real-time updated in company A when we process the payment in the company B.
    Thaks a lot.
    Ricardo Ferrã

    Hi Ricardo
For each subsidiary interfacing payments to the IHC, it requires that F110 is configured. This means that you configure the bank account determination from subsidiary to IHC, state what bank clearing to clear when uploading the bank statements from the IHC.
In the IHC center it requires that you configures the "whole" IHC module - or at least the payment processes you need. IHC has 4 processes:
    1) Intercompany payments
    2) External payments
    3) Incoming payments
    4) Cross bank area postings
In order to send the payments out externally from the IHC center to the external partner banks, you must configure F111. The IHC is automatically checking if the payment is internal or external based on whether the bank area between the two counterparties are the same or not. If not, the system will check for a route to see if the payment should be forwarded to another bank area and if no routes exist, the system will assume that you want to pay via "an external" system and hence create an entry in the payment request table.
Using IHC will thus generate the same amount of postings in AR and AP as if you were using an external bank.
Let me know if further explanation is needed

  • When is 'Clearing Balance Sheet' and 'Clearing Inc Stmt item' used?

    Hi,
In what circumstances, clearing balance sheet item and clearing inc stmt items are used. Commonly, it's used for balance carry forward task, where system recognized the net profit for the year (in PL) and current ytd profit (in BS).
i was trying to post the following entry via manual posting and system generated additional 2 lines:
    DR Sales 100
    CR AR 100
DR Clearing BS item 100 < System auto generated additional one line
CR Clearing PL item 100 < System auto generated additional one line
(The above entry is enter at posting level 01)
I was trying to post another  2 balance sheet items via manual posting at posting level 30. There was no additional 2 lines created.
    Please advise.
    Regards, Renee

    Rene,
In real life there are usually closing periods in enterprises, when accountant close their books. Closing partially means that all revenues/gains and expenses/costs are summed up, and net profit in income statement calculated. During this procedure accountants usually make closing entries. After that this calculated net profit is to be transferred to balance sheet, to the retained earnings of the current year item.
In SAP SEM-BCS there are no closing entries. Instead, the system monitors whether entries in P&L were made. The P&L hierarchy in BCS has the following structure:
    - one main node under which all revenues and expenses are gathered
    - clearing item located OUTSIDE the P&L main node (equals to net profit).
The amount on the clearing item equals the sum of all P&L items under main node, with the opposite sign. So, the sum of P&L items & clearing item is zero.
If the system detects postings to the items located under P&L main node, it recalculates the net profit and adjust the clearing item in P&L accordingly. Since net profit in P&L should correspond to the RE in B/S, the system adjust clearing item in B/S also. So, AT ANY MOMENT the B/S & P&L in the system correspond each other. The work of special/clearing items is like pseudoclosing.
That's the purpose of these clearing items. And as I said earlier  they has nothing to do with balance carryforward.
Resume: in case of postings to P&L, the net profit changes and the system adjusts net profit in P&L & B/S (adds two additional entries).
There is NO NET PROFIT CHANGE (and additional entries) when postings made in the balance sheet ONLY (as in your case). -- (As you know, there is almost no possibility to make postings to clearing item in B/S).

  • Mass clearing of inter company open line items

    Hi all,
we are trying to do a mass clearing ig inter company open line items and wanted to setup a program in SAP to expedite the process. Currently we are using F-03 to manually clear the open line items. We wanted to make things simple where we could simply give SAP a set of parameters so it will know what to clear and where to offset.
Do u have any idea what they need ?
    please advise.

  • F13E GRIR clearing

    Hi ,
Can anybody describe me the main difference between T code f.13 (automatic clearing without clearing currency) and F13E (automatic clearing with clearing currency).
    What is clearing currecy?
Is it that if GR and IR in different currency you need to use this Tcode Fe instead of F13.
All helpful replies will be awarded with points.
    Thanks,
    Meena Raghu

    Hi,
F.13 and F13E are the same, both are report SAPF124. But interally, the same report is started using different variants> SAP&F124 (F.13) and SAP&F124E (F13E) .
In F.13, 3 fields are just hidden:
    Clearing Currency (ZWAERS)
    Clearing curr. from assignment (XSOBEBVK)
    Expiring Currencies (XAUSLW)
If ZWAERS is filled in, neither XSOBEBVK nor XAUSLW may be ticked. The F1 helps on those fields tell almost everything you need.
Regarding your question, clearing GR/IR when items are in different currency. No, you do not need to use F13E, if the local currency amounts in the GR/R items are balancing to zero. (In most cases, they will)
When using F.13, the clearing currency is always the company code currency. (Clearing currency = document currency in the clearing doc to be created, all amounts to be cleared are converted to the clearing currency for the clearing comparison).
However, in F.13, the original document currency (which were different in your case) are not considered at all. The system is looking only at the local currency amounts in the open items. If they are balancing to zero (and of coure the clearing criteria, like assignment field, are met), clearing takes place.
In F13E, you can specify a clearing currency. (If you do not, F13E is the same as F.13).  The currency you specify here becomes the document currency of the clearing documents to be created. More important, all open items are converted to this currency and the converted amounts are matched. If the match, you can clear, if not, you cannot.      However, even if they do, it could be that the original local currency amounts won!t match. This would lead to automatic FX difference postings (while the clearing is also done of course). This is a very big difference between F.13 and F13E: in F13E you may have FX differences posted, which is impossible in F.13
Pls. let me know if you have further questions on this, otherwise close the topic.
    Hope that helps, points welcome

  • Reboot fails after software update - what now?

I've just performed a regular software update. I think it included the following 4 items:
    - iPhoto 08 (enhanced printing etc.)
    - Raw module update
    - 10.5.5 update
    - ??? don't remember this one
Three of the updates required a reboot so I opted to reboot immediately after installation.
Unfortunately I do not get beyond the white screen. I don't even get to the apple logo screen? Is there any way to restore without doing a reinstallation of the OS?
This is the first time I'm running into serious issues like this
    Any help appreciated.

Yes, I stopped doing multiple updates, esp. those requiring a reboot. I do the one-at-a-time now, and for the major updates, I do them manually from the Apple download page.
You have what I call a "stuck" update and what usually clears it is a safe boot.
Boot into the safe mode by holding down the shift key during boot. At the login screen just click restart and see if the system boots normally (it usually does) and see if all the DLs installed.
Post back either way. We never give up

  • Please what  concepts - Fi-SD- accounting document

    Hi Gurus
    Please clear my doubts.
when I create an Invoice from SD in the document flow accouting document genarated, posted to all G/L accounts.
    But not cleared -?
    1) What doest it mean -? Accouting document represents for all the G/L accounts , then does it mean to clear from all the G/L accounts or perticular G/L account. What exactly clear -? why system shwoing : NOT CLEARED" .  Reasons -?
    2) now if it cleared . what does it mean -? From accouting perspective  "CLEAR " means what -?
Please some one can help me . really appreciate.
    Thanks
    Kris

    Hi Kris,
As already explained - cleared are documents (invoices) which have been paid by the customers and open documents (invoices) that are yet to be paid.
If we take a customer account, the invoices are debited to his account and payments are credited. If we did not have the options of open and clear documents, reconciliation in case of any disputes would be very difficult.
When an invoice is raised on a customer, it remains as a open item in the customer account. When the payment is received from the customer, the user identifies against which invoice the customer has paid. It helps the user to identify which invoices are unpaid and the same can be followed up with the customer. This enables better and faster reconciliation.
Clearing happens in the same account. For example -
    Invoice -
    Customer A/c Dr. XXXX
    To Sales A/c  Cr. XXXX
    Payment -
    Bank A/c Dr. XXXX
    To Customer A/c Cr. XXXX.
As per the above entries, the invoice entry in the customer account is cleared with the payment entry. In effect the clearing happens in the same account.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • What Exactly should be in the Capture Scratch Folder ?

I apologize for the moronic question, but.....
I recently installed a second internal Hard Drive in my computer which
I was planning to reassign the scratch disc folder to, so that my external
hard drive which holds all the media / video, would not have to do double
duty in holding all the render files, etc. as well as the media.
But in going to do this, I realize I have almost 200gb of video ( in the
form of quicktime movie files ) already there. So if I move that folder,
I am not really solving anything, as a large portion of the media is
    already in it.
Can I with relative painless-ness, set up a new scratch disc on the internal
drive, or will this just create an avanlanche of media not found headaches
    and the like.
Again, I apologize for what is clearly something I just did not set-up
properly 3 years ago. I do not use this program that regularly or else
there is a chance I might understand it better.
Thanks for any and all help / suggestions,
    Sterne
    FCP 5.1.4 Older G5 computer.

I may not be understanding you correctly, but I think you will be ok with what you are doing:
Main hard drive with the OS and all your applications.
Second internal hard drive you are adding will contain all the scratch disks and project files.
For example, on this I have a folder entitled "FCP Docs on HD6" which contain all my scratch disks of Audio Render Files/Autosave Vault/Capture Scratch/Render Files/Thumbnail Cache Files/Waveform Cache Files that I set under FCP preferences. I also have another folder on this hard drive that I have labeled for a client--ex. Smith Project--and in here I keep all the other items for this project--the FCP project itself, any jpegs I'm using, any clips I've made self-contained to do smoothcam on, etc.
On your external hard drive you can keep what you have done before and not transfer them over to the new FCP Docs folder. The old project will still access those capture scratches from that external drive. (However, if you have now assigned those scratch folders to your new internal drive, when you open this old project and work on it, the NEW captures/renders/etc will be on the NEW scratch disks while what you have done in the past will still remain in the old.) You just have to remember when you are cleaning out your project or saving it to archive that some of your files are on your external.
You can have different scratch disks on separate hard drives, it just gets confusing if you have too many. FCP will use the scratch disks you LAST assigned. I repeat it gets confusing, just like this explanation probably is
