What is 'date range' in SAP CRM?

I am SAP CRM beginner. Also very new to SDN. Reading very basic documents.
While reading Marketing related document (Campaign Management), I have come accross a term called ' date range ' where I am really confused with -
what is - date range, pre-dip- post-dip, buying period........
& what is the use of the same.

hi
date range specifies that in a particular transaction what is the validity of the transaction, for example LEAD<ACTIVITY etc are the transactions we have in CRM
as u said you saw it in campaing management, there date reange specifies the start date and end date opf the campaign
whenever we start a acmapaing after executing it we have some start date from where we got to see the results of the campaign,
you define an additional date range that has a specific meaning, for example, pre-dip or post-dip, you need to select the corresponding period type in this activity. This is used to trigger validation of the dates in the BW System.
You should define at least one buying pattern type in Customizing for Marketing Planning and Campaign Management under Basic Data -> Define Default Buying Pattern Types.
For Instance  you can define that the buying period should start weeks before the promotion takes
place and that buying finishes weeks before the end of the promotion. You define the buying period
as a date range in Customizing and then you can enter the actual dates here. A buying pattern can
be defined for each combination of campaign type, buying pattern type and duration.
also technically if u know about date range in CRM
i would like to explain like this that
there is a thing "milestone"
this refers to the range of date from start to end
withinthe particular date that you mention inside the transaction u do the needed task like u create a new task and u do the buying and u generate invoice
in simple terminology we have date range which specifies the start of a particular task and there is always an end date at which this task has to end,so take this way
check out the date range in trade promotion (trade promotion is an alternate for the campaing in CRM)

What is Item Category in SAP CRM ? Where exactly it will be useful ?  Please explain in detail.
Edited by: Rajanand Tadakamadla on Nov 6, 2010 12:46 PM

    Hello Rajanand,
    1. Item Category :
You define the item categories for business transactions.Like transaction types, an item category is assigned to one or more business transaction categories
An item category specifies the properties and attributes of a business transaction item, and therefore controls how the item is processed
First, you assign the item category to an item object type. The item object type defines the business context in which an item category is used.
    ExampleBUS200140- CRM Service Product Item.
    2. Item Category Group
With the help of the item category group, you review the various products from a business view for item category determination. Enter the item category group for each product in the product master.(T Code COMMPR01)
During business transaction processing, the system creates the item category from the item category group for the product, and from the business transaction category, and proposes it in the document.
You can assign item categories to business transaction types and item category groups in the process Maintain item category determination.
    3.Item Categories Usages
The item category usage is generally used for items that do not refer to a product (for example, Free Items, text items).
The item category usage is assigned to the respective transaction types when the item category is determined. When processing documents, the system determines the item category from the transaction type and item category group or the item category usage and proposes it in the document.

  • Bank Data Validations in SAP CRM

What are all the Bank Data Validations performed while adding Bank Data to a customer's Payment Details.

It can be done, but you would have to validate the fields in the schema (which is limited to data type - string, integer etc.) or create a user designed function for all fields.

    Hi,
Your query has mistakes as well. I corrected them.
Check this two different ways were in first you can define the period (month) you want and in second you have the option to select from the drop drown list :
    SELECT T0.DocNum, T0.DocDate, T0.CardName,T0.DocTotal,T1.whsCode
    FROM OINV T0 INNER JOIN INV1 T1 ON T0.DocEntry = T1.DocEntry
    WHERE t0.docdate >= '2011.01.01' and t0.docdate <='2011.01.31'
    OR
    SELECT T0.DocNum,T0.DocDate,T0.CardName,T0.DocTotal,T1.whsCode
    FROM OINV T0 INNER JOIN INV1 T1 ON T0.DocEntry = T1.DocEntry
    WHERE t0.docdate >= [%1] and t0.docdate <= [%2]

  • SAP CRM object model and accessibility

    Hi All,
I am new to the SAP world.
I am looking into SAP CRM these days to figure out whether we can write a connector in JAVA so that we
could retrieve all the data from the SAP CRM system
could retrieve all the properties associated with the data
    permissions associated with the data
But I couldn't find documentation on how the object model looks like and what needs to be done in order to achieve my goals.
For Eg: If that is SharePoint, I know the object model would be like Web Application -> Site Collection -> Site -> List -> List Items etc., and to access that we could either use OOB web services or write custom web services using SharePoint API
Is this possible with SAP CRM?
Can some one help me with this?
    Thanks
    Naga

    Hi Daniel,
i got the same problem. It is an error concerning the parallel processing. You have to enter the parallel view entries manually (table CRMV_EXTMGR_PAR). Please have a look at note 1271899.
    Hope i could help you,
    Tobias

  • SAP CRM API

Is there any API which I can use to extract data from SAP CRM and then upload the data back to SAP CRM?
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers!

Welcome to the CRM forum.  You probably should read the sticky post before posting any more questions here.  So if you want to find your answer you will first need to know what type of data you want to extract. Depending on the type of data in CRM it will cause a different method for uploading.
In general your best bet is to search this forum using a search in this type of fashion say for business partners:
    "Business partners BAPI'
    "Business partners XIF".
If you set the search for all of time once you get results there are 1000's of posts on this topic.
However you need to explain what type of data you want to load in first and do a search and then if you have a specific questions on how to use a particular tool available in CRM, then ask it.
    Take care,

  • Vendor Number Range Conflict SAP ECC and CRM 2007

I need to load SAP ECC Vendor data from SAP to CRM and have setup most of the configuration as required. However I have an issue, the vendor number range used currently in our SAP system is already in use in our CRM system and has been for some time (for Prospects and Contacts).  What is the best approach to dealing with this issue...
My initial thought was to see if we could have two different numbers for the same vendor in ECC and SAP CRM
eg SAP Vendor "50000001" equates to CRM "VEN50000001"
Is such as approach supported?  Can you point me to the documentation that shows how such an approach could be implemented.  What approaches have others done to address similar issues?
    Thanks in advance
    Eddie
By the way we are on CRM 2007 sp4

    Hi Eddie,
SAP Note 1044637 - Customize Vendor Numbers
Implement the code present in the attachment. You can
change it according to your own requirements. The example code
suffixes 'VEND' before the first six digits of the vendor
number before it is downloaded to CRM.
    Thanks,
