What is "download to flash memory" under fpga target?

Hi,
Normally, for running the labview project, we need to compile it ,and download it. But there is "download to flash memory" under fpga target. What is that for? what is differences between "download" and "download to flash memory"? And do we need to "download to flash memory"?
Thank you very much.
With Respect,
                      Roxy

If I understand you correctly the FPGA bitfile is stored in flash and volatile memory. If I delete the bitfile from flash, how come I can run the FPGA VI fine after a power off?  (I'm not using the project environment/connecting or deploying anything, just inspecting some shared variables I am writing to on the RT host target which are values read from FPGA VI).
Also, when it is stored in flash where is the file?  Is it in some area where that is not accessible to the FTP client?
Thanks,
Rob

  • What is the largest flash memory for newton mp2000?

    Hi,
just wondering what the largets flash memory for the Newton is?
I have come across some websites which state that you can have up more than 4Gb+. Would this be seen by my Newton MP2000?
    cheers
    Tibs

Hello! This is KnowledgeNavigator from NewtonSales.com (newton sales website). The largest amount of memory on the Newton 2000 and 2100 is actually several gigabytes! with the assistance of a driver written by the owner of Kallysis.com you can use standard ATA cards with your Newton and I have seen these in 1gb, 2gb, 4gb sizes. In terms of memory that was designed for the Apple Newton 2000 and Apple Newton 2100 wihtout the need for special drivers, you are looking at Flash Cards. I have in stock the 16mb, 20mb, and 32mb Flash cards at my website. With any larger memory card purchase I preload wifi, bluetooth, ethernet drivers as well as games, utilities, and other very useful programs onto the card before shipping. My website is a one-stop-shop for a 100% support solution for the Apple Newton. I have been an avid user of the platform for over 7 years now. If you have any questions please contact me.

  • What are symptoms of flash memory degradation

I have a 2011 Macbook Air with 250GB of flash memory.
I have since Yosemite been experiencing significant slowness in typing into both Numbers and Pages documents.  Like over a second per character at times.
    - I have suspected iCloud (I do open the documents on my iphone 6 and keep the application in a non terminated state).
    - I have suspected new releases of Numbers, of Pages, and of OSX with Yosemite.
    - I have also suspected not having enough Flash memory to support the applications
Recently (today) I removed the Flash Drive, and installed an OWC 480GB drive.   Since the reinstallation, both Numbers and Pages have not shown any slowness when typing (I will update this after I get a couple more days of experience).   In fact, the whole systems seems quicker.   I am concluding
    1.  The available storage on the old flash (<10%) slowed the system down; or
    2.  The original Flash, after three years of daily use, had degraded to a point of producing the symptoms of slowness.
Has anyone else experienced degradation in software (notably Pages and Numbers) and has found a solution?

Once you installed the new SSD, did you clone your existing drive or start with a fresh OS X installation?  If it was a fresh install, then you simply will not be able to determine what caused the performance increase back to normal.  If, however, you cloned the drive, then I would suspect that it was the fact that you had so little space left on the drive.
If I reached the point of 10% or less available storage (25GB in your case) I would expect to start seeing degradation of performance on any hard drive.  Actually, it all depends on what size files you typically deal with.  If you commonly store (or update) large media files to your SSD then less than 25 GB available space is a significant limitation that makes the file system's job or preventing significant fragmentation impossible.
Also, one issue that many users do not understand is the repercussions of upgrading your iCloud storage.  If you do so, please realize that iCloud will attempt to store all of your iCloud data to your MacBook Air's SSD even if it completely fills the drive.  This has been the downfall of may users that don;t realize this.

  • Xilinx Options in FPGA Target Properties not available

Hello Everyone......I have a little problem.
I can not get Xilinx Options under FPGA Target Propoerties to change the synthesis optimization goal to area instead of speed in LabVIEW 2012. Please let me know the cause and solution of this problem.
    Thank You.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    chiks,
Interesting, are you looking in the correct place for the compiler options? Compiler options aren't going to be located under "FPGA Target Properties" as you mentioned previously (sorry I missed this in your first post), rather those options are located under the "Xilinx Options" category when you create an FPGA build spec for compilation.
Right-click on Build Specifications » New » Compilation, then select the Xilinx Options category and you should see a window like this.
Can you confirm that you are looking in this location?

I'm using PC with Windows 8.1. I got onto the Creative Cloud and downloaded "Flash Professional CC and Mobile Device Packaging (2014)". <--- That would be the file. I can't open or run it from CC and I couldn't find a file in my computer either.
I've also found direct downloads for the trial version and hit the set-up button, it loads up, and then nothing happens.

  • Erasing Flash Memory of Spartan 3E FPGA

    Hello,
I'm programming a Spartan 3E FPGA, and I believe there are a few VIs left in the flash memory from the previous user of the board. I'd like to just clear out the flash memory. 've been playing around and can't seem to find how to clear it through LabView on a spartan.
I've already had a look at this.
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/4789525480C3B78C8625714000746BFD\
It should be pretty simple, anyone know how to go about it?
    thanks in advance!

Are you referring to the platform flash (XCF04, this can be used to automatically-configure the FPGA on powerup) or the Strataflash (which cannot easily be configured to do so, but can be used for persistent storage)?
If it's the former, I would suggest using iMPACT to clear the flash part.  For the later, there are a few examples that interact with the Strataflash, that's as good a starting point as any.

  • Cant download adobe flash player. What does it mean to close Firefox?

Tried to follow instr for downloading adobe flash player but it wont download. What does it mean to close Firefox...minimize window?

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:
*an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only
*a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox
*On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
Check your Plugins often --> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
*only the most popular/used Plugins are known by this page
*page will detect only installed, '''''enabled''''' Plugins
    '''<u>Install or update Adobe Flash</u>'''<br />
#'''<u>Using Firefox</u>''', go to the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later. Un-check any items on that page that you do not want to download (i.e., "McAfee Security Scan Plus":
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    #*The installation is quick.
#Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
#To update/install the ActiveX version for IE '''''only''''', repeat the process, '''<u>but use IE to go to the above website</u>'''.

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the mislabelled item. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • What Mac specs would you recommend for a CS major (GHz, Flash Memory, etc)?

So, I'm starting college in the fall as a computer science major. I have decided to choose a Macbook Pro with Retina Display as my weapon of choice. The only remaining questions I have before I order pertain specifically to GHz and Flash Memory. I saw that for about $250, you could upgrade your processor from 2.7 GHz to 2.8 GHz, and for $400 extra you could upgrade your flash memory. To be honest, and this is an embarrassing confession for a CS student to make, but I really have no clue what either of those things do to the computer, and what impact they have. Before I ask you what you'd recommend, let me give a little more information.
Because I'm a CS major, the kind of work I would most likely be using the computer for involves creating iPhone apps, building websites, and building desktop apps using Cocoa or Qt. Now, I'm not sure how big these project files usually are on Macs, but I have done some programming before on Windows and know that they do have the ability to get rather large. My previous programming environments have included a Windows 7 Lenovo desktop PC with 1 TB of internal memory, and a Dell laptop running Linux Ubuntu with 2GB of internal memory and a  2.26 Intel Core Duo processor (runs much slower..).
So, I guess my ultimate question is, is the extra $250 or $400 really worth it? Would I be able to get by without spending all the extra cash?
Oh, and as for screen resolution, I was thinking 15 inch, due to the fact that this will most likely be my primary computer at college. Is that a good call as well?

    TJNickerson wrote:

The CPU upgrade is only worth it for applications where the CPU is specifically the bottleneck. These days, not many are. The amount of RAM, the GPU, and the speed of storage often play into overall application speed.
You might want to check with upperclassmen in your program, though, because it is possible that some programming environments might benefit from it when compiling or something.
But for most people, $250 for another 0.1 GHz is a bad deal. On the 15-inch it is paying 9% more to boost CPU by just 4%.
If the storage starts at 512MB, that is a lot of space for most people. The $400 is for SSD storage which is expensive (compared to traditional spinning hard disks) so you'd better need it. The two questions to ask yourself are, do you need to carry everything around all the time, or can you keep some on an external drive? Because $400 would buy you a 4TB external drive with money left over. The second question is does that storage need to be SSD fast? If yes, then maybe the upgrade is good. If no, then you'd paying a lot more for much faster storage than you need.

15 inch is a screen size, not a screen resolution. One way to think about it is, do you expect to be using one screen-filling window at a time, or seeing lots of app windows at a time? The 13-inch is a better size for single window work, but the 15-inch is better for spreading out your workspace with multiple windows and panels.

  • Download jpeg photos to iPad from a flash memory card

I exported JPG photos using Iphoto to a usb flash memory card in a DCIM folder. I want a friend to download these photos on his Ipad.
I can use the Finder to display any of these photos from the flash memory card. So they exported right.
But his Ipad 2 with the latest IOS version does not see any photos when the flash memory card is connected to it using the usb connector.
The memory card has been formatted in MS-DOS
When I connect the flah memory card back to my Imac, I see all photo files with the Finder.
Iphoto sees the flash memory card but does not see any photos it exported.
    How can I solve this?

    Thank you for your suggestion.
Sorry, I used the terms usb flash memory card, I should have used USB flash drive in my question.
I tested your suggested solution. I changed the name of the photo to: I45.jpg and the result is the same. I always get the message "NO PHOTO CAN BE IMPORTED".
    Any other suggestion?
