What is eating up my C:\ drive?

I have been using CS5 and now CS5.5 for a while now - primarily Premiere Pro and Encore. Today I got the Windows warning that space was 'critically' low on my C drive.   And, I have ensured that cache files and the like are written to non C: drives.
I had windows 'clean up' the disk and that freed up some, but there still is little space.   I noted the free space before starting another disk burn in Encore, and it was 593,231,872 bytes. After running for about 10 minutes the free disk space was 593,190,912. After about 15 minutes, 592,957,440.
So what is Encore writting to my C:\ drive and how can I find them and delete them. . .   ?

Sorry - I have since posted this in Encore. . . It may pertain to Premiere Pro - so, if you have any ideas from a Premiere Pro perspective, I would like to hear them.

I installed Leopard quite a while back on my 1,8 GHz PowerPC G5 tower. I had to try twice and call Apple support because I was having problems installing it. I never seem to have much hard drive space, and I don't really have much on this computer. My iTunes library takes up a bit of room, but there's really not much else on the hard drive. I cleaned out some old stuff tonight and made some room, but I am wondering how much of my space is eaten up by the previous OS. Also wondering if Leopard is on here twice because of the double install attempt.
I am trying to make room to install Logic Express 8. So where are the OS's on here so I can trash anything extraneous, and is there a way -- other than individually Apple I'ing everything -- to see what's taking up so much space on my hard drive. Try a program such as Disk Inventory X or OmniDiskSweeper.

Do you mean disk storage space or physical RAM? The latter is memory, not the former. If you mean the former:
Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.
If you mean RAM, then you have to add more to the computer which is not possible on Air models.

the OmniDiskSweeper was a very helpful download, because it laid out the HD and all the files on it in a "largest to smallest" fashion. When I did this I found that I had an inordinate amount of memory being taken up in my Mail Data folder, this did not make much sense so when I dug deeper I found that a 59MB scanned file that I had emailed 3 weeks ago had not been delivered, so the computer was retrying every minute and saving the history of what it was doing, so it was saving the 59MB file as well as the log about the 59MB file and hence for the last 3 weeks it's been chewing away at HD space recording the activity of the undeliverable file.
I deleted the Data record folders and removed the yahoo account from My Mail and reinstalled it with proper IMAP information and the HD is secure and holding at 331GB of free space. Like it ought to be.
I love the fact that if something very strange is happpening on your MAC there is a REASON....find it and fix it, and move on. In the PC world you would reboot 20 times, call some guy in India who will ony try to sell you a new subscription or warranty for $99 and never solve anything.

ENCORE CS5.5: Audio Conforming Is Eating Up My Hard Drive

Hi guys. I am using Adobe Encore CS5.5 (Windows 7) for a DVD project. My project is pretty much a series of audio files synch with .PSD images. In other words, I do not use real video. Rather, I Use Images wity audio running in the bagground of the timelines.
Encore keeps conforming (non-stop) the audio files of my project, and it's eating up my hard drive space at lightning speed, say 537GB of free space in like 30 mins or so.
After much research, I found that the Media Cache Files Folder is being loaded with replicas of my audio files with the following extensions .ac3 48000.cfa and .ac3 48000.pek
I use seperate hard drives for both my C: drive (for software) and D: (for my project files files). As I stated above, I have plenty of room in my C drive, but Encore keeps eating up the free space, this, of course, while I have my project running.
I resaved the project with a different name. I even re-installed Encore, and the result is the same: Audio keeps conforming and the Media Cache Folder is loaded. When I empty this folder, I get my HD space back, but the process keeps on going. For those who do not know, the Media Cache Folder can be accessed in Encore from Edit--> Preferences-->General -->Media: Media Cache Files --> Browse or directly from C:/Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Common/Media Files, where "Username" is your Computer's User Account name.
This is by Far the most annoying software glitch I have ever seen in my life. I am so frustrated. My project is quite complex and I don't want to start all over again. Any help or insight will be greatly appreciated.

I have 6 timelines. The total program length, as shown in the build tab, is about 3GB used. And it's a DVD project, not BD.
I use MP3 files and I can see the audio keeps conforming from the Progress tab. There's a Stop button,but it's grayed out, so I can't stop it. The setting I am using to transcode is a3c as you mentioned.
The funny thing is that I even deleted the project's audio files from the timelines and Project Assets as well. At this point the audio files don't even exist in my project, and yet the Progress tab shows the audio keeps conforming and my hard drive keeps being swallowed by this monster. That's driving me Nuts!
Originally, and of course, the audio was Untranscoded. I performed the transcoding and yes, PSD images are brought directly as asssets into Encore. I probably should have done this from Premiere, but a) I have never used Premiere, and b) I was just learning how to use Encore by watching some video tutorials.
The thing is that my project was complete and everything was set, including audio conforming. I even outputed a disk image, which I then burned into a DVD. At the time I did this my project was still somewhat small as I just wanted to test the whole process with just a few files. The thing is that at this point I didn't realize what was happening in the background with my hard drive's free space until I later got a Windows warning message of low disk space. And that's when the saga began for me.

I had to reinstall iTunes and lost the library, so I used what I had on my hard drive, but I have much more music on my iPod classic than is in the iTunes library. If I synch now will it delete all that extra music from my iPod?

I restored with what I had on my hard drive on the PC, but there is much more music on my iPod classic than is in the iTunes current library. I'm worried that if I synch now it will delete the extra music from my iPod, some of which I don't have available to re-rip etc.. Are you now using a different username from the one you used prior to migrating? If so that is the reason for the problem. You might, then, give this a try:
To fix Home folder permissions
Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder. At the command line prompt enter or paste the following command line:
sudo chown -R `id -un`:`id -gn` ~
Press RETURN. You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed.

A Time Machine backup drive should be substantially larger than the system drive. If you have a 128 or 256 GB SSD then a 1 TB drive will suffice. If you have a 512 GB SSD then a 2 TB drive will suffice. As leroydouglas indicated any brand other than WD will do.

I agree with Allan, and that link is also called OWC, their hard drives are great. Have three of their Mercury Pro Elite 2 TB quad interface drives. They will connect eSATA, Firewire 800 & 400, USB2, so broad reange of options. Drives seem to come Mac HFS formatted, but I always reformat and partition the drives. Service and quarantees are top notch.
They offer a wide range of drives/drive systems so like Allan said, spend some time seeing what the have.

Multiple files are required for the proer fnctioning of any of our GPIB products. Unfortunatly the installation is not as simple as copying a single file over. If you wish to make the installer silent, i believe this is entirely possible in a fashion similar to the details given at http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/0730A66245E6808086256CA8006E2183?OpenDocument.
