What is end-to-end?

On the front page of this site, Java is said
to provide "end-to-end" solutions.
What does "END-TO-END" means precisely?
Can you tell me or give me a link to the explanation?
Thank you!

Ironically, the next generation was called "370",
supposedly "the next step", but actually equal to 10
degrees, demonstrating that marketing types usually
aren't very good with math, and have a hard time just
keeping track of their BS.Ahaha, on 360 degrees only you see everything on a plane... add another 360 degree and you'll cover the whole space :D
So, 370 was an attempt to give you a taste of 3D world... j/k

  • Does Revel have a backup retention for deleted files in the cloud and what is the encryption level it uses both end-to-end and locally?

I'm interested in the premium version of this service however I'd like to know if:
    1. Revel has any kind of cloud backup feature for accidentally deleted files.
    2. What encryption strength does it use for it's end-to-end transfers and also for the local app and cloud storage
    3. Does it have 2 stage authentication?
I ask because I need something picture friendly but is also HIPAA and SEC compliant.
    thanks!

    Hi nick2048,
We take security and privacy very seriously and send all communication over encrypted channels.
However, as a consumer photo site that supports user sharing, it is not our goal to achieve HIPAA certification
    Hope this helps!

  • What is the average duration of 1 full SAP life cycle or 1 end-to-end implementation. How long does it take to prepare DEV, QAS and PRD?

What is the average duration of 1 full SAP life cycle or 1 end-to-end implementation. How long does it take to prepare DEV, QAS and PRD in any company?

    Anand,
let me start with saying that the question you ask may not help you to determine the duration of your project. As Ryan and others stated the duration of the project is highly dependent on the scope of the solution you are implementing, geographical scope, amount of modifications/enhancements, number of languages, number of users that need to be trained, amount of standard processes customer is able to re-use in the implementation and many other factors (like quality of implementation contractor you will chose and availability of customer and implementors resources). I can probably go on for another couple lines, but I guess you get the idea.
With that out of the way let's talk about some example implementations that will give you an idea - Ryan did great job outlining what I would call traditional approach above. I have couple examples where customers leveraged innovative deployment strategies that are available today. In particular the project teams leveraged pre-packaged services like RDS, World Template or Best Practices as their baseline solution and they built from there. Second acceleration technique customers now leverage is the deployment in the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud to accelerate the time to initial setup of the system and thus move from traditional blueprinting to scope validation exercise that further shortens the time. There are other acceleration techniques we see applied in some cases like use of iterative implementation of the delta requirements on top of the baseline solution.
Let me offer few examples to illustrate what I explained above:
ERP implementation at Schaidt Innovations with 3 months long deployment of ERP solution using ERP RDS as a baseline (you can view their testimonial here - Schaidt Innovations: SAP ERP on HANA in the cloud - YouTube)
Customer in Asia with global template deployment that leveraged SAP ERP for Manufacturing with deployment to cloud and 9 countries rollout (Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, UK, Germany and US). The initial deployment took 4 months for first country and 2 months for rollout into the additional 8 countries - so total of 6 months. The original plan using traditional approach with full blueprint and heavy configuration was estimated to be more than double of the actual deployment time.
There are many other examples where customers follow the assemble-to-order delivery model for their project and gain significant benefits doing so. I suggest you to review some of the recordings we did in 2013 about this approach and if you are member of ASUG review the Agile ASAP sessions we did for ASUG PM SIG.

  • What are the advantages of end to end ssl vs. server term'd ssl

what would be the advantage of having the ACE terminate ssl and than initating an ssl connection to the backend server
instead of just having the server terminate the ssl connection?
we are currently discussing this..and even from a resource perspective...the server would seem to be using
    the same amount of resources

The real advantage with end to end SSL is that the ACE can make layer 7 decisions but still keep the traffic encrypted from client to server. This would be the case if you needed to use cookies as the sticky method or make a load balance decision on URL or host header. Most of the time it is financial or government institutions that use this feature to keep the data secure even on the inside of the network.
This is much more resource intensive on the ACE. You are correct about the performance on the server. From the server perspective it would be no different if the ACE just load balanced SSL, or terminated it first then encrypted it going back to the server.
    Hope that helps
    Best regards

  • What happens if you end up with two blackberry ids?

Please help. Finally bought a z10 and began the process of transferring from a pearl 8130.  Didn't know if I had an id so the service agent where I bought the phone created a new one.  Blackberry link didn't work for address book.  Since the pearl was on 4. 3.0.66, didn't think it had an id.  Did find a username and info in my options on the pearl.  Was that my id and do I now have a real problem?

OK...so all is now good with the device and it's functions, you are just at a point of needing to decide what to do about your contacts that are solely on your old BB. OK...there are many KBs that discuss issues with data transfer:
KB33578 Contacts are not migrated to a BlackBerry 10 smartphone if contact groups exist
KB33523 After migrating to the BlackBerry 10 smartphone, settings, data, or applications, are missing
I don't know if either of those apply to your situation, and there are likely many other articles...you can search for those in that KB database.
If you do decide that you'll go the manual method, then I'd actually advice you do something else. Do you have Outlook? If so, you can configure a clean end-to-end synchronization of contacts and calendar between Outlook and your Z10. You can get everything set up in Outlook so that your contacts contain what you need, and then activate synchronization via Outlook.com for just calendar and contacts (your email can continue at gmail or wherever it is). Refer:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Z10/How-To-OTA-Sync-BB10-and-non-BES-Outlook-Overv...
Even if you don't have the desktop Outlook client, you still might be better off using Outlook.com so that you can use your computer to better manage your data, and allow it to sync with the device.
Done right, you might even be able to get your data out of your old device rather than having to manually re-type it all...either by first installing the Desktop Software and configuring to sync with Outlook (just one time, so that you can get that data):
KB03315 How to setup organizer data synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Software
Or via an export from your old device to a CSV file, which you could then import into Outlook:
KB24488 How to export contacts from a BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry Desktop Software 6
There are many alternatives for you to consider...so consider all of this and decide how you'd prefer to proceed.
    Good luck!

  • What is step by step in real time project i.e. end-to-end life cycle?

what is step by step in real time project i.e. end-to-end life cycle?

    Hi Vamsi,
The below explanation gives you an idea of what is going to come after what in a software development.
These below stages are know as Software Development Life Cycle/Waterfall Model.
    1. System/Information Engineering and Modeling
As software is always of a large system (or business), work begins by establishing the requirements for all system elements and then allocating some subset of these requirements to software. This system view is essential when the software must interface with other elements such as hardware, people and other resources. System is the basic and very critical requirement for the existence of software in any entity. So if the system is not in place, the system should be engineered and put in place. In some cases, to extract the maximum output, the system should be re-engineered and spruced up. Once the ideal system is engineered or tuned, the development team studies the software requirement for the system.
    2. Software Requirement Analysis
This process is also known as feasibility study. In this phase, the development team visits the customer and studies their system. They investigate the need for possible software automation in the given system. By the end of the feasibility study, the team furnishes a document that holds the different specific recommendations for the candidate system. It also includes the personnel assignments, costs, project schedule, target dates etc.... The requirement gathering process is intensified and focussed specially on software. To understand the nature of the program(s) to be built, the system engineer or "Analyst" must understand the information domain for the software, as well as required function, behavior, performance and interfacing. The essential purpose of this phase is to find the need and to define the problem that needs to be solved .
    3. System Analysis and Design
In this phase, the software development process, the software's overall structure and its nuances are defined. In terms of the client/server technology, the number of tiers needed for the package architecture, the database design, the data structure design etc... are all defined in this phase. A software development model is thus created. Analysis and Design are very crucial in the whole development cycle. Any glitch in the design phase could be very expensive to solve in the later stage of the software development. Much care is taken during this phase. The logical system of the product is developed in this phase.
    4. Code Generation
The design must be translated into a machine-readable form. The code generation step performs this task. If the design is performed in a detailed manner, code generation can be accomplished without much complication. Programming tools like compilers, interpreters, debuggers etc... are used to generate the code. Different high level programming languages like C, C++, Pascal, Java are used for coding. With respect to the type of application, the right programming language is chosen.
    5. Testing
Once the code is generated, the software program testing begins. Different testing methodologies are available to unravel the bugs that were committed during the previous phases. Different testing tools and methodologies are already available. Some companies build their own testing tools that are tailor made for their own development operations.
    6. Maintenance
The software will definitely undergo change once it is delivered to the customer. There can be many reasons for this change to occur. Change could happen because of some unexpected input values into the system. In addition, the changes in the system could directly affect the software operations. The software should be developed to accommodate changes that could happen during the post implementation period.
    Reward if helpful.
    Thankyou,
    Regards.

You use message monitoring in the following cases:
    ● To track the status of messages
    ● To find errors that have occurred and establish what caused them
Check this help for further info:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2f/4e313f8815d036e10000000a114084/content.htm
You use end-to-end monitoring in the following cases:
    ● If you want to monitor message processing steps in a number of SAP components (to be configured).
    ● If you want to monitor the path of individual messages through these SAP components, from start to end.
Check this help for further info:

End-to-end monitoring includes message monitoring, adapter monitoring, BPE if BPM is involved.. so end-to-end monitoring tells you complete description of your scenario......but message monitoring is concerned only with source message coming to target message successfully generated.

  • What's the difference between END-TO-END SSL and other SSL?

Could anyone summarize all of the differences?
    Thanks a lot! Points guaranteed.

    Hi,
SSL end-to-end means that the web dispatcher is just forwarding the
HTTPS requests to the backend system without unpacking / decrypting the data.
This can be configured by icm/server_port_<XX> = ...,PROT=ROUTER,..
To be able to configure the ROUTER protocol on the web dispatcher you also
must have configured HTTPS / SSL on the relevant backend system.
Configuring SSL "only" means that the web dispatcher is listening to HTTPS and you can decide with the relevant parameters, if the communication to the backend is HTTP or if it is again reencrypted using HTTPS.
This would end up in using the parameter icm/server_port_<xx> = ...,PROT=HTTPS,....
    Kind Regards

    CA Forum: Authentication
    Hello,
I'm looking for some help please.  I have used Crystal Reports XI fairly extensively over the past year (designing reports mainly), and have now been tasked with getting CR Server XI up and running so that team members can view reports pertaining to them via a web browser.  I have installed CR Server XI on a Windows Server 2003 VM and have followed every single step in the admin guide on pg285 about how to implement end-to-end single sign-on using Kerberos.
However, every time I try to access InfoView I get prompted for AD credentials.  Single sign-on just is not working and there are no visible error messages to indicate why.  Could anyone please offer suggestions?  Even telling me whether there is any sort of log file which I can check to see what's happening behind the scenes would be very helpful.
    Many thanks in advance,
