hi every body,
iam new to this tech and iam not understanding this.
plz can any send me some documents and links where i get a clear picture on soa.

thanks and regards

Hi Vijay,
Service Oriented Architecture(SOA) is the architecture in which the communication between two entities is based on services (formarly known as webservice). Enterprise SOA which is SAP specific SOA implementation is also based on service communication but with the broader level and with business data transformation.
For more information and knowledge, you can refer this elearning material for eSOA.

Monitoring in an Enterprise SOA envrionment
Hi,
we're implementing enterprise soa like applications in a increasingly higher rate at our company. Using many different SAP products and non-SAP products we're offering end users relatively simple applications based upon a rather complex environment.
However, we're experiencing a lot of difficulty in the monitoring of complete processes. The Altert Framework combined with XI and Solution Manager does provide some monitoring for key interfaces and messages but it does not enable us to link them to the processes involved. The built-in Business Process Monitoring of Solution Manager is very limited and as far as I know is the BPM initiative with Aris no longer exisiting.
Does anyone of you have any opinion or experience on how to deal with this very important topic?
Thank you
Marcel RabeHi Marcel,
Beside being integration tool, the second main advantage of XI is monitoring. If you design your processes or Enterprise Services using XI(BPM), you can easily monitor end to end solutions.
But, if you are bypassing XI and using point to point solutions, definetely you would not be able to monitor the processes.

I want to know about enterprise soa and sap netweaver
Hi all,
i am ABAP'r , i want to know about Enterprise SOA And SAP Netweaver ,
please send some documents about that .
Thanks®ards.
Naveen KumarESOA mean Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture
SOA mean an Architecture approach to define IT solution for business problems using loose couples SERVICES
Service mean: definition of a business function in terms of the service message, protocol and nature
Nature mean Service direction, Service mode and service contract
WEB SERVICE, XML, XSD, SOAP : Mean a technology following SOA architecture approach to IT enablement of a business need.
WEB service compose business functions, location of services, messages of service offering and protocol into a single definition to define service contract.
XML mean a common language to represent message
XSD mean a common way to define message structure
SOAP mean a procol which carry messages of services between service consumer and service provider.
Finally : Web service is not SOA. Web service is a technology implementing SOA architectural approach to IT enablement of a business NEED.
Note: If you are happy with answer please make sure point is rewarded.

Mass data handling in an Enterprise SOA
Hello together,
i'm working on my diploma thesis with the title "Design of a service-oriented architecture based on SAP NetWeaver".
For this work an enterprise service is designed to calculate a special price matrix (10x5) from a given price for a product.
Additionally the matrix for a product can have four variations, depending from input values. I think for few products there's no problem.
But it's also possible that someone wants to export the price matrices for all 15.000 products. So there are 60.000 (4 x 15.000) service requests at once.
So my questions:
Is it (without bigger problems) possible for a service to handle so many requests at one time? Or generally, how behaves enterprise SOA in cases of mass data requests like that (network traffic, workload, overhead for enterprise services...)?
An alternative is to storage all matrices in a DB (would be much redundancy, because variations of the matrices are very similar).
Thanks for any answers
JoschiHaving the same service to get one product price as well as all product prices would not be recommended. Two separate services would be more reasonable
Mass data handling in SOA is not entirely different than let's say in BAPI/RFC environment. parallelism, multi-threading, locking, commit and many others are typical elements of considerations.
From a scalability standpoint, you can always be interested in how optimal its performance is whether you call it once or a million times. If the service is a rather slim one (lightweight in terms of number and types of parameters as well as processing code), you'll surely have better chance than with a service that's heavyweight. -
Availability of the SAP Discovery System for Enterprise SOA
Hello Everybody,
will the SAP Discovery System for Enterprise SOA only be avaliable as a appliance as I've read on NetWeaver04s on Discovery System? Will there be a normal installation like a IDES System?
Perhaps a good idea for a quick start would be a peinstalled Linux Based VMWare Image :-).
Regards
GregorHi Gregor,
among the reasons for shipping the Discovery System as an appliance are legal reasons. So as long as there are 3rd party components involved (from SAP perspective) you'd need to be an official distributor for them. Obviously this restriction applies to VMWare Images as well.
An IDES-like installation is facing the challenge of integrating multiple components (that normally have to be installed separately) and their configuration data during the set-up already. This can be done as the example of Rapid Installer shows. But it is certainly more work to accomplish it.
As always: Making a complex system easy to use/set-up requires extended efforts behind the scenes. So it is always necessary to find the trade-off between "time to market" and "plug-and-play". So currently the availability as appliance is a compromise of both.

What is Enterprise Content Management
hi, all
What is Enterprise Content Management?
is it have same funtionality as DMS
benHi Benaka,
Yes! DMS and ECMS (Enterprise Content Mgmt System) as same functionality.
Document management systems (DMS), sometimes referred to as enterprise content management systems (ECM).
Document Management has some overlap with the concepts of other types such as
Content Management / Enterprise Content Management System , Digital Asset Management, Document imaging,
and Records Management systems.
Thank you,

Flexibility with Enterprise SOA - script issue
Hi All,
I have a Discovery System v3 system and I am testing the "Flexibility with Enterprise SOA" out-of-the-box script. On page 10 of the script it instructs you to run trans SPROXY and then select Software Component u201CESA ECC-SE 600u201D. I donu2019t see ESA ECC-SE 600 listed. Since this system is v3 the ECC system has EHP 2 installed so the version of ECC-SE installed is 602 but I donu2019t even see this version either. Any ideas why I don't see ESA ECC-SE listed? The version of the script is v2. Is this maybe the problem since the system version is v3? Should the v2 script still be vvalid for a v3 system?
Thanks,
BillHi Bill,
I can't tell you why the SC's are not listed anymore as they are part of all delivered systems, but this exercise works with ECC SE 602 as well.
Best regards,

Hi,
I am currently looking for information about enterprise services related to SAP PLM.
So far, I have found a lot about SOA/Enterprise SOA in general but nothing specific about Enterprise Services for SAP PLM.
Are there any ES Bundles for SAP PLM or any PLM related services in the ES workplace? Could anyone give me a hint where to search for informationen concerning the combination of SAP PLM and Enterprise Services?
Thanks for your help.

How to download Enterprise SOA open source kit ?
Hi,
Can any body help me to how to download Enterprise SOA free version kit ?
Regards,
AnshulHi Anshul,
There is nothing available for download like Enterprise SOA free version kit .
for ESOA, ESR is used to design/define services which is currently shipped with
CE 7.1 which is released for customers
PI 7.1 which is still in ramp up( evaluation phase)
If you want to use the services , they are delivered in the form of Enhancement Packages which are deplyoed with ERP.
If you want to consume Enterprise Services, You can use any tool which can consume Web Services because both are same.
To download all these thinggs( CE,PI 7.1 or Enhancement Packages), you need service marketplace id.
If you want to see/test the services provided by SAP, you use ES Workplace on SDN.

The Community TeamiPads natively print to printers that are air print enabled.
About AirPrint - Apple Support
has a list of printer models
I wouldn't count on using air print simply because it's limited to certain manufacturers and models
Printer companies can have apps of their own (must be a wifi printer though), or can have work arounds of their own.
There are also third party printing apps out there. I used print n share but there are others.
However all apps are skinnied down versions of computer programs so if there's any formatting you may have issues replicating it.
I think the safest bet is to carry a flash drive or e-mail that file to someone and have them print it for you. -
Enterprise SOA Service Design Standards
At the SAP NetWeaver 2008 conference I sat in on a session that briefly described the design standards/patterns that all Enterprise Services follow. Things such as naming service "Manage<BO>" etc. Can anyone point me to the documentation on the SAP site that details these standards?
Thanks
