What is ESOA

Hi,
What is ESOA Technology why it come in to picture. Advantages of ESOA. Any back ground required for ESOA preparation.
Thanks,
RamuV

HI
In todayu2019s ever changing world of technology and business innovations, the ability to accelerate innovation and develop operation excellence better and faster than competitors is critical to a companyu2019s success.  Business processes are the key to unlocking the potential of these strategies for competitive differentiation. This upgrade paves the road to an enterprise SOA (eSOA) which allows companies to quickly build and modify business processes to adapt to rapidly changing markets.  With enterprise SOA, companies can unify stand-alone processes to quickly compose new end-to-end processes, selectively redesign existing processes and facilitate seamless process design and execution across company boundaries to take advantage of business partnersu2019 expertise.  Enterprise SOA (eSOA) unleashes the untapped potential of existing business process within and across company boundaries.
Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (eSOA)
eSOA in PI 7.1 addresses the shortcoming of the previous XI architecture.  It provides the foundation needed to create a modernized and responsive technology environment.  The typical SOA approach tends to focus exclusively on the technology framework and neglect the larger business process.  A combined focus on both application and infrastructure is something that SAP provides called Enterprise SOA (eSOA).  It is SOA plus Enterprise Services which enables partners and customers to plug in reusable application snippets and enable flexibility within business processes.
It is a business-driven software architecture that increases adaptability, flexibility, openness and cost efficiency. This architecture elevates the design, composition and management of Web services to address enterprise requirements.

    Hi Ram,
    See the answers below
    > 1)     Does eSOA is a tool, application or module?
ESOA is not any tool, application or module. Its a methodology/Architecture
    > 2)     What is the relation between eSOA and ECC6.0?
ECC 6.0 provides some Enterprises Services through enhancement packages.
    > 3)     What is the Scope/Role for Functional Consultants in eSOA?
FUnctional consultant should know which ENterprise Serrvices are available and which should be developed to carry out a business process.
    > 4)     What I have to learn in eSOA?
.         Being a technical guy, there are things to be learnt like ESR, implementing designed serivces through ABAP or Java and consuming it. But being a functional guy, only awareness of what enterprise services are available and what they do and their input/output params and how they can fit into a business process is sufficient.
    > 5)     How it is useful for Functional Consultant?
    see above
    > 6)     How it is useful for Customers?
Customers can move towards Service Oriented Architecture, get flexibility in changing a business process easily, maintaince cost is less
    > 7)     How much time it will take to learn eSOA?
    depends on your skills
    > 8)     Where can get the Material?
    lot of material in SDN
    > 9)     What all technologies I have to learn before I learn  to eSOA?
ABAP or JAVA,ESR ( being a technical consultant) , Web Services
    > I am working as a SAP HR Consultant. If I want to learn eSOA what are the pre-requisites.
you should aware of basics of service oriented architecture

  • PI 7.1 - SOA and GDTs

    hi,
i've been reading many documents about ESOA, GDTs and SAP PI. as I could see SOA is deeply ligated to Global Data Types which are based on the UN/CEFACT standar CCTS.
    questions are:
---considerig that, how should i develop my futures interfaces in PI, i mean how do i know when should i apply a GDT o create a
simple data type as i´ve been doing in previous releases.
--- Could i develop my owns GDT? how should i do this?
--- is mandatory use GDT in PI 7.1?
--- every interface created in PI 7.1 is from the scratch oriented to SOA or just in part?
is mandatory that every new interfaces follows the guidelines to SOA 100%?
Im in the infraestructure area few days ago and the leaders have been thinking about migrate to a PI 7.1.1 from XI 3.0 and in the last version develop about 50 new interfaces. so im traying to understand the guidelines to consider at the moment to create a new interfaces in PI 7..
those are some of my doubts about the revolutonary changes that ESOA brings to PI.
    Hope anyone can help me.
    Thanks
    RP

First you have to know like what are the different Global,Core data type available , then only you can make a decision to go with global data types or Manuall creation.
simple data type as i´ve been doing in previous releases.
--- Could i develop my owns GDT? how should i do this?
You can develop Global Data types, before that you have to proove that your GDT not available in SAP and we can reuse , then the development stadards you have followed should match with Ccts Based standards.
SAP and Parters they are working one developing GDTS and Enterprise services.
betetr to refer SOA documentation,so that you will understand concepts.
--- is mandatory use GDT in PI 7.1?
it is not a mandatory, if you want to use GDT you can, elase you can go with manual creation,i have done two implementation with PI 7.1,till now i never used GDTS
--- every interface created in PI 7.1 is from the scratch oriented to SOA or just in part?
The Term SOA refers what ever you developed should be reusable, but in SAP point of view SAP developing Enterprise Services they have stored in Service registry, that means mostly we never develop enterprise services, what ever SAP developed Enterprise services offer Stability, reusability and many more.
is mandatory that every new interfaces follows the guidelines to SOA 100%?
Not really,Many people who is working PI7.1 dont know what is ESOA,how we can reuse enterprise services, still following traditional way of developemnt approach(PI7.0).
When you decided to follow SOA guidlines first you should have fair understanding about ESOA concepts.
Im in the infraestructure area few days ago and the leaders have been thinking about migrate to a PI 7.1.1 from XI 3.0 and in the last version develop about 50 new interfaces. so im traying to understand the guidelines to consider at the moment to create a new interfaces in PI 7..
    iT IS REALLY GOOD MOVE

  • Automatic creation of contract in SAP ECC from ESO

    Hello Experts,
We are installing SAP ESO 5.1, with integration package, linked to a SAP ERP 5.0 system.
With the out-of-the box integration package, it is possible to create an outline agreement (contract) from an ESO Master Agreement / Agreement by selecting Scripts -> Publish to ERP from the toolbar (this can only be done if the Master Agreement is in a "saved" state). This is a manual process.
My question is: is it possible to automatically execute this script by means of Workflow?
The goal would be for E-Sourcing to always create a contract in the SAP ECC backend system from a completed ESO Master Agreement. I believe this can be achieved by executing a script at the "saved" event?
I'll appreciate your feedback on this approach, or any other solutions you might have implemented with customers to reach a solution to a similar requirement.
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Gilberto Gallardo

    Hi Gilberto
I would not suggest "Publish to ERP " to me made a post save script as contract managers/ buyers might "save" a draft version of the master agreement which might still need some validation. Also since a  word contract is not in place at this point in time, there might be changes later on which could make the situation rather messy.
In case you are going for approval workflows in phase definition of contract, you can use "Publish to ERP " as a postscript for workflow when contract finally is moved to executed phase but again would support Howie here that it should remain a manual process since a lot of validations would be required.
A lot depends on business on what they consider to be the culimination of CLM cycle. Few would like to start transactions through oultine agreement before actual contract is signed to speed up the process while many would like to wait for the actual signed document to be in place before starting transactional procurement.

  • ESOA :  Why should we choose ESOA

    Hi experts!!!
I recently entered into esoa practice. I have so many queries to put in.... Here are a few....
    1) how customer gets benifit out of this esoa...??? how it solves customer problems in present market.??
    2) In which form these services are served? (wsdl/ any common format acceptable by all kinds of applications or it is completely based on Netweaver platform?)
    3) If it is a wsdl, why should we go for PI 7.1 only...we can also generate wsdls from all previous versions ?
    4) According to my understanding from all the blogs & forums, all services will be developed and registered in ESR ( which resides locally in my company), then how these services are said to be global??
    5) what is the big difference PI 7.1 makes over the previous versions?
    6) How ES workplace is helpfull to my development?
    7) I have installed ESR & CE 7.1 into my system.. but i am unable to find proper support from SDN ?  Is it still have to come up? or Is no one using PI7.1 yet? or any other reasons??
    8) and most imortantly, I have not found any architectural details about ESR or PI 7.1 or CE 7.1. please ignore this question if i m wrong.
It would be great help to all...
    Regards,
    Pavani

    Hi Pavani,
Lot of questions. If you have gone through the ESOA Architecture/framework, you would have find answers to most of your questions.
    > 1) how customer gets benifit out of this esoa...??? how it solves customer problems in present market.??
SOA architecture is spreading with a good pace. Its always better to walk with market trends.
Customer can benfit from less implementation costs, fast implementations and finally the maintainace would be quite easier with ESOA
    > 2) In which form these services are served? (wsdl/ any common format acceptable by all kinds of applications or it is completely based on Netweaver platform?)
Yes it is WSDL. It is based on standards and acceptable to all SAP, Non-SAP applications.
    >
    > 3) If it is a wsdl, why should we go for PI 7.1 only...we can also generate wsdls from all previous versions ?
PI 7.1 contains ESR where you can define/design your new Enterprise services with some governace mechanism. Technically Enterprise Services are Web Services but it has strong governance mechanism. You can develop/define simple web services from previous PI versions.
    > 4) According to my understanding from all the blogs & forums, all services will be developed and registered in ESR ( which resides locally in my company), then how these services are said to be global??
Nope, they will be developed in ESR( Enterprise Services Repository) and would be registered in Service Registry not ESR.
    >
    > 5) what is the big difference PI 7.1 makes over the previous versions?
PI 7.1 is coming with lot of new features, but related to ESOA , main is the ESR.
    > 6) How ES workplace is helpfull to my development?
ES Workplace provide test servers where SAP has already hosted implemented services. You can consume that services using your applications. And documentation is provided along every Enterprise Service. SAP has hosted ES Woorkplace for evaluation purpose only
    > 7) I have installed ESR & CE 7.1 into my system.. but i am unable to find proper support from SDN ?  Is it still have to come up? or Is no one using PI7.1 yet? or any other reasons??
A lot of documentation is available and also forums are available for both CE and ESR. But it will take time to reach at atht level when compared to other Netweaver products
    > 8) and most imortantly, I have not found any architectural details about ESR or PI 7.1 or CE 7.1. please ignore this question if i m wrong.
Go through recent Teched Material, you will find a lot.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to configure ESOA Scenario is PI 7.1

    Hi All,
I am new to PI 7.1 and working on the ESOA concept in PI 7.1, I am not sure to post this question in this blog or not, please help me on this urgent issue. I have developed a service interface in ESR, created a proxy in ECC 6.0, make it as a webservice and published it in service registry. Please help me how to proceed further from here and provide me the possible ways to configure this scenario in PI 7.1. Kindly provide me the information what adapter should I configure at sender side and what adapter at receiver side? Is there any other possibility to configure without receiver side adapter? The requirement is urgent kindly provide me the information. I appreciate your quick response.

  • SRM7 - eSOA service documentation

    Hi all gurus,
we're using SRM7 on our testing system and we enabled distribution of contracts to the backend test system using the new eSOA technology. I'm completely new to this kind of procedure; we've seen that the contract distributed are definitely wrong on the backend (e.g. service hierarchies are flattened, service lines have been "locked", and so on) and looking on the SRM system in sxi_monitor tx I can easily check that the XML itself is not correct.
    Here are the questions:
    - where can I get detailed documentation about this new service, from beginning to the end (SRM creation of XML -> XML sending -> backend receiving -> BAPI ? (I suppose) to create the document) of the process?
    - specifically, what's the part of code (FM, methods) in which is defined how to convert the SRM document into an XML file? This should be the point in out task, since it seems that contracts are badly converted into the XML message...
Thanks everyone for the hints and suggestions you might give
EDIT: the problem seems to be related to contracts with service hierarchy... is there feature not supported by standard actually by now? Is there any workaround available? Thanks again

    Hi Matteo,
Did u get any documents for ur problem (Creation of XML messages in SRM). I would be greatful if u could share those with me.
Even I am looking for the same as we wish to configure service procurement using ESOA.

    Hi Fakher,
I hada look at your problem the other day when you first raised the issue. I investigated it for nearly an hour but put it aside then because I got really more and more angry with it.
So, I can't give you any hint but nevertheless decided to drop a short note. I fully agree with your remarks.
I believe that though SAP in the high ranks rightfully embarked for the right vision towards the SOA paradigm, those who design actual Enterprise Services do it kind of an old-fashioned EAI-way. Maybe the interprete 'Enterprise' in ESOA as 'Intra-Enterprise only'.
What I came across was a paragraph in the ECC_SALESORDERCRTRC (what should a non-SAP service consumer think of that service reading that name? will he/she ever be able to memorize that?) which stated something like
<i>Following parameters MUST NOT be supplied any value</i>
followed by a list of input parameters of the service. What are such parameters good for??
The other day I came across another Enterprise Service which contained a number of completely cryptic parameters. After some searching I learnt that this were (patented) global data types which you could only understand if you got hold of some several pages long word documents which were at the time only available SAP internally although the services have long been published then. I think they're still kept secret, atl east I have never seen one or seen a reference to it.
Did you notice that the description of ECC_SALESORDERCRTRC says that it is deprecated and another service should be used instead but it doesn't tell which one?
I could continue ranting another few hours on this topic but as I found out no one of SAP joins a discussion on this.
So I can only conclude that Enterprise Services are not meant to be used by any third party service consumer, at least at the moment..
One last thing. Have you ever seen an enumeration in an Enterprise Service's WSDL? For a long time I thought they have just forgotten to implement it in their current SOAP runtime implementation. I mean, they have a great DDIC, domain values and stuff, they have an inside-out webservice generation wizard but they do not create XSD enumeration restrictions? Why? could it be that they do that on purpose? To make it as difficult as possible for a non-SAP service consumer to understand theservice and auto-generate useful proxies? I wish I would know.
Concerning the ticket stuff (aka bug reporting tool): Ironically as a third-party service consumer you can't file a CSN ticket no matter how broken the service is. You have to find a SAP customer to file it for you (probably the one whose actual service you want to consume). If you've found bug reporting proxy customer he'll know how to open a ticket.
sorry that I couldn't be of any help with your problem.
    kind regards, anton
