What is file type c1b6

I found a private folder on my hard drive that is hidden, not in the system. It is 1 gig and I need to space. I used Disk Inventory and found it. When I tried to move it into the trash with in Disk Inventory and it told me that it could not because is was a file type c1b6. I got a little app that lets me see hidden files and found it. I open my hard drive off the desktop and there it is right in the window smiling at me. I am wondering if I can force delete it off my computer. Or if it is important.
Thanks

To explain a bit further, the largest part of the private folder are the swap files (temporary) that are created for "virtual memory". A restart will clear all these files.
If you are looking to clean out files as small as 1 GB then you are seriously getting low on disk space. It is generally accepted that you keep 15 to 20% of the hard drive free for the overhead of the OS. Check out getting an external storage drive they are fairly inexpensive these days.

  • What video file type is best for quicktime?

I have a Macbook Pro and use Quicktime to play videos I download from p2p programs. I often find that many of the videos do not work. Messages such as "this is not a video file." and "additional software is needed to play this video" often pop up.
Is there a certian file type (mp4, mov, etc.) that works best that I should look for? If not, what can I do to prevent this?
    Thanks for any help.

The formats that QuickTime 7.x can natively handle can be found here:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/player/specs.html
In addition to those, a number of additional formats can be played with the addition of third-party codecs such as Perian and the Flip4Mac codecs. Some other codecs also exists, for very specific systems such as Avid.

  • HT1363 what movie file types will work on a iPod classic 80GB?

I am trying to download movies onto my ipod, they are in the library but I get an error saying wrong file type.  Do they have to have an extention and if so, what is the acceptable flie?
    Thanks

Are these downloads from the iTunes Store? If so, it sounds like you are trying to sync the HD version of the video.  You should try to download the Standard Definition copy instead and sync that to your device as HD content is not compatible with the Nano.  See here for more information:
iTunes: May be unable to transfer videos to iPhone, iPad, or iPod
To prevent HD versions from being downloaded in the future head to the iTunes Store, click the Purchased link, and then select Movies/TV Shows and remove the tick mark next to Download HD when available.  You should be able to download the SD version now from under this same page.

  • What music files types can you add to itunes?

I download alot of different music files types.  I just want to know what music files I can add to itunes.

Apple Lossless works on the majority of the worlds portable music players which of course are Apple devices
Apple Lossless works not only in iTunes on both Mac and Windows but also can work in dbPowerAmp, WinAmp, Foobar2000, VLC, XBMC aka. Kodi, and even Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center. (Yes I am aware FLAC also works in all of those except iTunes.)
Apple Lossless is free open-source code like FLAC, but arguably less likely to be subject to a random Patent Troll attack as it is backed by the might of Apple's lawyers.
Apple Lossless is identical quality to FLAC.
You can of course convert between FLAC and Apple Lossless and back again with zero loss of quality.
My point with all of the above, is that there is no need to be so hung up about FLAC anymore.
(Full disclosure for our readers:  My colleague John and I have this same conversation every once in a while.)
John - You are exaggerating the degree to which ALAC is accepted outside of Apple.
Although Winamp and WMP can be modified to play ALAC, the normal unhacked versions that most of us have cannot.
Yes of course you can convert between ALAC and FLAC with no loss of quality.  That is what lossless means.
In lossless music retailing, FLAC is very common.  ALAC is rarely seen.  Even Apple's own iTunes Store does not sell songs in ALAC format.

  • What Video file type is required for upload to Captivate 8?  I have uploaded an .mp4 video to my slide and the HTML5 tracker indicates that the slide/object is unsupported

Need help asap on this question - does this need to be an .FLV file?  There seems to be a lot of conflicting information on this.

    Hi
    I am using a MAC
    Captivate 8.0.1.242
Multi-slide synchronized so I can set the slide timing to accommodate length of video
The problem is specifically with .flv video files when publishing a responsive project or even trying to play the slide.  The video encoder pops up trying to convert the file to .mp4 for output but does not work.  My understanding is that the ONLY video file type I can use for responsive projects is .flv
    Is this correct?

  • What recording file type is best?

Anyone have an opinion on this? I believe the default is AIFF, but I see SD II, WAV and one other. One criteria for choosing would be, if you plan on taking the files to another studio and they work with one or the other, but I might imagine most places can import any of the above? The other criteria might be about which makes a larger file, if space was an issue. I would think that any of the formats produce now discernible difference in quality?

There's no discernable difference in quality between wave files or AIFF because they are essentially the same thing, apart from a bit in the file header that says 'I am a wave/AIFF file' as far as I know, so I wouldn't worry too much about it - its easy to convert one thing to the other - they're both digitisations of the sound without any kind of data compression applied to them and they'll both take up the same amount of disk space.
The only consideration that I can think of is whether you want to play any of the audio files on a PC/Windows machine (I have done sometimes just to listen to submixes or even individual tracks on my laptop/home stereo setup), in which case it might be easier if they're already .wav files.
As far as I know the Sound Designer files have a historical context that I missed out on because I started out on a PC/Cubase intially some years ago. They may still exist as an option for compatibility purposes that I personally don't have any need for.

  • When downloading, EVERY file, no matter what the file type, brings up photoshop to open it.

For the last week, every file I try to download, whether it be a .doc file, a .pdf, .xls - automatically firefox brings up photoshop to try to open the file. I have checked and the appropriate file extensions and actions are listed in /options /applications.
It's driving me crazy - I have to save every file to the desktop and then open it - I can no longer click on links from email or websites to open them directly.
Should I dump my firefox server & download a new one?

    Try "Reset Download Actions": http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions

  • What movie file types will front row recognise?

will it play any windows media or asf files?

Besides playing DVD movies, Front Row does not really "play" anything. It will open iTunes in the background and play your music. It will open iPhoto in the background and play your pictures. If you choose the "Movies" section, it will open the QuickTime Player in the background and play your movies. So, as long as you can open and play your movies manually with the QuickTime Player, you can access them in Front Row.

keep in mind: avi nor mov are 'formats', just media wrappers = box of chocolate, you'lll never know ...
stay within normal video standards, such as 1080i or 720p, 25/29.97fps ... mov encoded with h264 should be fine.
and avoid fancy stuff such as surround, Dolby 5.1., 3D ........

  • What is a file type .sxx for?

For the past week or so I have found a file called settings.sxx, on one of my hard drives. I don't know what it is, and everytime I dlete it, it comes back.
Lately I have found more .sxx files popping up on one of my hard drives. What are these files and where do they come from?
Are they OK, or are they some type of VIRUS, ETC.?

I am a bit disappointed that after all this time I still don't have a good answer on what this file type is up to, why it is on my system and why it keeps coming back after I delete it.
It is a bit disturbing that it replicates with more files of the same type when left alone and not deleted every day.
I don't now or have I ever worked for the Department of Defense, (not counting more than 30 years ago when I was in the U. S. Air Force) and I have never had any software from them on my system.
All I do know about this file type is that since I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.4, the file stopped coming back.
Now I still don't know which program or setting allowed this file type to keep coming back into my system. All I do know is after upgrading, I deleted this file from the storage drive that it keeps popping up on, and it stayed gone.
Is it really gone, or is it hiding somewhere else?
And what is different about OS X 10.4 and OS X 10.2.8 that would allow this to happen?

Once you switch your form enctype attribute, the standard Servlet API no longer returns values for getParameter() et al. FileUpload from the Jakarta Commons (http://jakarta.apache.org/) will allow you to handle a form with this encoding type.
