what is flat file and how do we create it. is it same as the txt ,csv ,excel file
hi,
A flat file is a static document, spreadsheet, or textual record that typically contains data that is not structurally related. Flat files are called so because there is little that can be accomplished with the information contained in them other than reading, storing, and sending.
differences between BDC and lsmw :
Batch Data Communication (BDC) is the oldest batch interfacing technique that SAP provided since the early versions of R/3. BDC is not a typical integration tool, in the sense that, it can be only be used for uploading data into R/3 and so it is not bi-directional.
BDC works on the principle of simulating user input for transactional screen, via an ABAP program. Typically the input comes in the form of a flat file. The ABAP program reads this file and formats the input data screen by screen into an internal table (BDCDATA). The transaction is then started using this internal table as the input and executed in the background.
In Call Transaction, the transactions are triggered at the time of processing itself and so the ABAP program must do the error handling.
It can also be used for real-time interfaces and custom error handling & logging features. Whereas in Batch Input Sessions, the ABAP
program creates a session with all the transactional data, and this session can be viewed, scheduled and processed (using
Transaction SM35) at a later time. The latter technique has a built-in error processing mechanism too.
Batch Input (BI) programs still use the classical BDC approach but doesnt require an ABAP program to be written to format the
BDCDATA. The user has to format the data using predefined structures and store it in a flat file. The BI program then reads this and invokes the transaction mentioned in the header record of the file.
Direct Input (DI) programs work exactly similar to BI programs. But the only difference is, instead of processing screens they validate fields and directly load the data into tables using standard function modules. For this reason, DI programs are much faster (RMDATIND - Material Master DI program works at least 5 times faster) than the BDC counterpart and so ideally suited for loading large volume data. DI programs are
not available for all application areas.
LSMW is an encapsulated data transfer tool. It can provide the same functionality as BDC infact much more but when coming to techinical perspective most the parameters are encapulated. To listout some of the differences :
LSMW is basicaly designed for a fuctional consultant who do not do much coding but need to explore the fuctionality while BDC is designed for a technical consultant.
LSMW offers different techinque for migrating data: Direct input ,BAPI,Idoc,Batch input recording. While bdc basically uses recording.
LSMW mapping is done by SAP while in BDC we have to do it explicitly .
LSMW is basically for standard SAP application while bdc basically for customized application.
Coding can be done flexibly in BDC when compared to LSMW
pls reward if helpful.

What is Flat Aggregate ?
Hi,
I have checked in many forums but did not get any correct definition.
Can someone please send the definition, advantages, business scenario and technical details about it?
Thanks,

In the case of a line item dimension, the dimension table is eliminated and the Characteristic InfoObjects SID is instead written directly to the fact table. When this happens, the aggregates are called flat aggregates.

What is the diff b/w flat file and legacy system?
Hi everyone,
when v say v r working on scenario FILE to FILE? which format of file r v usually working on? and what is the diff b/w flat file and legacy system?
thanxHi,
<i>when v say v r working on scenario FILE to FILE? which format of file r v usually working on?</i>
>>>Many a times it will be a Flat file with CSV format,Tab delimited format, fixedlength fields.
<i>what is the diff b/w flat file and legacy system?</i>
>>>We can not differeniate like this..
Flat file may come from any systems, it may be live system or legacy system.
Legacy system- is something like old, or past one. If you talk about SAP , then older versions of SAP can be called as a legacy system.
So it may be a file system, or any system which is old version but it doesnot mean it is not in use,

What are smart mailboxes and why do i need both smart and "normal" ones?
What are smart mailboxes and why do I need both smart and "normal" mailboxes?
Hi Kingoftypos,
Thanks for that clarification. So, now it appears that the ultimate purpose of a Smart Mailbox is to point to all emails that meet the criteria in a single place, so if they are spread among several mailboxes, you will be able to see them all together. Here is an article from Apple that describes it:
A Smart Mailbox displays in one location messages that are stored in other mailboxes, so you don’t have to move messages between mailboxes. The messages displayed by a Smart Mailbox are based on criteria you define, and are automatically updated to include new messages that match your criteria. For example, you might create a Smart Mailbox that displays all messages found in all mailboxes from a specific sender.
If you change a message in a Smart Mailbox, such as marking the message as read or unread, or moving or deleting the message, the change is reflected in the mailbox where the message is actually stored.
So, adam, I would think that, if you had mail going to a lot of different places, and wanted to be able to see a particular set of those in a single place, you would use a smart mailbox. Maybe use the rules to direct your mail to different places to start with, but a smart mailbox to bring a set of common ones all together into a single smart mailbox?
Maybe you have Rules move your Amazon mail to an Amazon folder and your Apple mail to an Apple folder, but then you have a Smart Mailbox that contains any mail that has the word "Receipt" in the Subject line?
Just a thought....
Cheers,

What's the difference between OpenGL advanced and normal modes?
I get that Basic mode uses the cpu and Normal uses the gpu, but what exactly does Advanced mode do?
The description says that it uses as much of the GPU as Normal Mode does, but adds "advanced techniques to improve drawing performance."
Has anyone seen one of these advanced techniques in action or know of a list of these mysterious improved capabilities? What CC said... Imagine a shader having say a length of 32 discrete instructions/steps vs. one with 16... The 32 one will concatenate specific operations in one step and may thus be more optimized, but will not work on a card that does not provide those 32 shader cores, since it could not be executed in one clock cycle. Then you would use the 16 one with instructions being split across 2 cycles... That's all there is to it and for al lintents and purposes mostly irrelevant and unimportant to the user...

What is the difference between document class and normal class
Hi,
Please let me know what is the difference between document class and normal class.
And I have no idea which class should call as document class or call as an object.
Thanks
-Actionscript Developerthe document class is invoked immediately when your swf opens. the document class must subclass the sprite or movieclip class.
all other classes are invoked explicitly with code and need not subclass any other class. -
After what seems to be a normal upgrade to the new Mountain Lion OS X on my early 2008, 24" iMac. My iMac counted down to restart but did not turn all the way off. At the end of the count down the screen went white with a small file folder flashing on and off in the center of the screen. Also there is a ?, question mark in the miaale of the file folder. The screen responds to no keyboard or mouse commands. Request help.
My computer was doing the same as yours hinikuru but now there is a change. I turned my iMac off by the button on the back and left it off for about an hour. When I just turned it on the center Apple logo was back and soon the loading logo for the new Mountain Lion program came up. On the bottom of the logo there is a horizontal sliding bar that says the program will take 34 minutes to load. Time will tell. I have two iMacs and if this goes we'll I will install the new Mountain Lion tomorrow. Hinikuru, I was about to follow the information in one of the side bar blocks titled "More like this" on the right side of this screen when my iMac seemed to fix itself! Good luck. I think not all is lost.

Hi,
my macbook screen goes black at random points when I am using it. I know it is still running as music continues to play and I can vaguely make out the content of what is on the screen. Sometimes the screen will flicker between black and normal. Can I fix this?Emily..
Could be the graphics card, run the Apple Hardware Test
If the hardware test doesn't reveal any problems, use Lion Recovery. -
What is FACT table and FLAT table?
Hello,
Kindly tell me what is mean by FACT table and FLAT table and how it is use in the BI system ?also tell me can i see these table in the system ?if yes then please tell me the procedure to see the content of the FACT and FLAT table. And also tell me about the SID table and how to see it.Cube consists of Fact tables and Dimension tables.
The structure of these tables are "Flat".
Cube consists of two factables... 'F' - Fact table and 'E' - Fact table.
The naming convention will be..
/BIC/F<..Cube name..> for F Fact table
/BIC/E<..Cube name..> for E Fact table
Eg: for cube "EMPLOYEE" the names are..
/BIC/FEMPLOYEE
/BIC/EEMPLOYEE
The dimention tables have naming convention..
/BIC/D....
You can check these tables in SE11 or you can use the transaction LISTSCHEMA and then provide the Cube name.
SID's tables are used to link the master data with the dimention tables. -
My projects icons turned to orange in Aperture? I must have pressed a button without noticing it. What does that mean, and how can I get them back to normal?
My projects icons turned to orange in Aperture?
Ana Candano, what is your Aperture version? Earlier Aperture versions - until Aperture 3.2.4 had colored icons, Aperture 3.3 and later are gray in gray. Do you have two versions of Aperture installed?
When you post back, list your version of MacOS X and the versions of any Aperture.app you can find with Spotlight on your Mac.
Frank, the thread you pointed to, was a different question, but probably is related. It would be good to know how it has been resolved. -
What is the difference bwt other spl. indicator and normal spl. indiactor
Hi
What is the difference bwt other spl. indicator(OBXT) and normal spl. indiactor(OBYR)?
As per my knowldege other spl ind. which is used for not to update books
and normal spl. ind. will updated the books?
it is right.
if that is right than in the both the cases i am able to see open items?
can any body guide me in this matter.
Thanks inadvance
satyaHi Satya:
From my point of view, I think
OBYR is "Define Alternative Reconciliation Account for Down Payments";
OBXT is "Define Alternative Reconciliation Account for Vendors".
As long as your customizing is correct, specify the numbe of the alternative reconciliation account and make sure that the account is created, these two types of special G/L indicators will update the booking, you will find the open item under the correct account# as well.
Good luck

Please help me, I have a mid 2010 Mac book pro with a toshiba mk3266gsxf harddrive. It started making a clicking noise and then my computer crashed. I proceeded to boot in safe mode, but it doesn't work. When I ran disk utility in recovery mode, it showed no problem with my disk. Does any one know what the problem is?
Sounds like a mechanical problem with the drive and it ruined the sectors where the Macintosh HD partition (and OS X, and files and programs) reside, but not your Recovery HD partition.
If you held command option r while booting, that's Internet Recovery and it's loaded via the Internet, not via the Recovery HD partition on the boot drive, so that could mean the drive is dead mechanically or there is another issue.
In either case the drive will likely have to be replaced, it's a matter of what occured to where and the drive state if you can recover data or not. If you made recent backups then your fine.
My computer is not working, is my personal data lost?
