having a crazy time with my several wks old wireless keyboard
no top row keys worked today
now i saw a "fn" key and when i hit it they work
if i keep it depressed i can raise andreduce the levels i want..for brightness, volume etc
i have never run into this
do i need a command to get this to function without this happening every time
i would like a seamless transition from selection of top key to implmentation of it command

Yes, go into your system preference and click on keyboard then uncheck the box next to the Use all F1,F2 keys as standard function keys.

I have searched and searched, on Google, Wiki etc. but there's no mention of this key, not even in the manual:

On my MacBook Pro, it is placed in the bottom, between the Apple-key and the left-arrow key (on the right of the space bar).
What is it's use? What is it called? And why is the symbol also on the enter-key?

On my MBP it doesn't have a symbol, but instead says "enter," and has the exact same functionality as the "enter/return" key.
It's there for using the numpad. If you hit "num lock," then use keys 7,8,9,u,i,o,j,k,l,m,. it turns into a numpad equivalent to what's on the right edge of desktop keyboards. Much like a desktop, while you're using the number subscripts on these keys, there's always an enter key at the bottom right edge (makes it easier for entering long sets of numbers).
Even without num lock on, this secondary enter key still functions just like the primary enter key for regular functions.

Anyway.. considering _if i work for IT department, what will be the key for me to support ERP-SAP_
You have to install Front end GUI in all user systems and configure clients (SAP clients 300, 786, sandbox etc) whichever applicable to set. Takr care and maintain the servers, network connectivity, installing the SAP supported printers and configure them in ERP to get print out etc.

If you forgot or lost the password, all you can practically do is reset it.

Note:columns are not unique and we would be using alpha,beta,gamma to uniquely identify a record .Now as you see my sample data this is in a table which doesnt have index .I would like to have a index created covering these columns (alpha,beta,gamma) .I
beleive that creating clustered index having covering columns will be better.
What would you recommend the index type should be here in this case.Say data volume is 1 milion records and we always use the alpha,beta,gamma columns when we filiter or query records

Depending on application, or game. For example on one application which I use daily
F1 = Help (nearly all applications use this),
F2 = Slpit screen
F3 = End
F4 = Expand
F5 = Find / Re Find
F6 = Change
F7 = Up
F8 = Down
F9 = Swap
F10 = Left (one screen)
F11 = Right (one screen)
F12 = Cancel
Again, DEPENDING ON applicantion, you have to learn from application. Some applications allow you to re-program those keys.
