Any body explain the concept of Functional area, in which way it is useful . give 2/3 examples how to use.

Functional areas are used to analyse Cost of Sales Accounting. By this you can analyse your organization's expenses by your funtional area like Finance, Marketing, Production, HR and so. If you want to default functional areas in to document then GL master has field of functional area where you can map it.
Steps for Cost of Sales Accounting.
1. Crete functional areas - OKBD
2. Create substitution for cost of sales accounting with call up point 5 - GGB1
3. Activate cost of sales accounting under SPRO>Financial Accounting>Financial Accounting Global Settings>Company Code>Cost of Sales Accounting>Activate Cost of Sales Accounting for Preparation

now if u dont make tables client dependent then , same table data will be used by all clients ...
But all clients have their own diff data ,
So making a table client depedent , u r using same database table, to store data of different clients.

A client is a logical division of data within an SAP system. Some things, like application data are mostly client-dependent, meaning that for example, a G/L account defined in client 123 of system ABC is only visible in that client. Therefore if you logon to client 456 of system ABC you will not be seeing the same database entity (if it is defined at all).
At a technical level, client dependent data simply resides in database tables that have the client number as a key field (typically the first key field).
Multiple clients within an SAP system are often used in development, testing and training systems - so that individuals can work in the same system (on the same codeset) but in isolation of each other.
Very rarely will a production system have multiples clients (ignoring the internal SAP clients like 000 and 066).

Business area concept in SAP FI

Dear experts
Currently we have created 2 company codes and all the plants under these two companies are assigned to one business area.
The new requirement is that we need to create new company code to identify the transactions, get the BS & PL accounts separtely. Since the company code is different, the reports can extract based on new company code.
But to create new company code, the process involved is high and we have idea of creating new PLANT code and Assign to new BUSINESS AREA,
Can anybody guide me on this, where my purpose can achieve by creating new BUSINESS AREA and new PLANT so that the required reports etc can be generated based on BUSINESS AREA. (BS, PL Etc, basically all the FI reports)

If FSCD items contain multiple business areas, then there is a possibility that the business area in FI might get populated with a blank space.
If this issue is occurring with all the posting to FI where the BSEG table ( where as in case of new GL, RBUSA in table FAGLFLEXT for total and FAGLFLEXA for item) is not getting populated with business area then there might be some reconciliation issues depending upon the GL (new or old) used. If you are using new GL, you might have to check if document splitting functionality is activated in new GL (mySAPERP which is ECC 6.00 and pack SAPKH6001 and above) and will have to maintain the Business Area as a splitting rule. Additionally refer to note 990612 & check FM FI_DOCUMENT_POST.

You can sign in on your friend CC desktop app( Your friend has to log out of the CC desktop app) & use the CC apps. This signing in will be counted as one activation. You are in all allowed 2 activations per CC subscription.

Financial statement with Functional Area

Dear Experts,
We recently implemented SAP in our company.
One problem we have is that our Financial statements are just on GL, our Management wants to see the Financial statement break up by departments (Cost centers) & Projects.
I beleive that this is possible through Functional areas concept, but I don't know completely on how to configure & maintain Functional areas in order to get the Financial statements with Functional area.
Please guide me a complete configuration step.

What is the benefit of maintaining Functional area in the Cost center master data then.
I have seen some slides of Financial statements with Functional are break up by Cost center categories.
Please give more idea on this.

Functional Area determination in MIRO postings

We are on ECC 5.0
We had A/P invoices were posted via MIRO where the account assignment was changed.
Right now we have:
-Functional areas defined in all cost center master records.
-Functional areas defined for a select group of balance sheet accounts.
-Configured a special PO type Z to allow POs to be created against balance sheet accounts
The scenario is this:
When the account assignment of a PO is changed during MIRO invoice entry, it seems as though the functional area is still being derived off of the original account assignment. So it posts it to the right cost center, wrong functional area.
Is there a way to have MIRO re-derive the functional area during invoice entry?
Also, when I tried to correct the issue through a manual journal entry via FB50, I received the error message: "
An entry in field Functional Area is not permitted for account 732000." Message no. F5394
Does anyone know what might cause this error message? I tried to change the field status group for that GL account by making functional area optional and tried the je again with the same error message.
Any idea how to correct the prior mispostings?

i did nt understand what s functional area determination ! can you pls explain further. If you are talking about sales area then yes if the customer belongs to more than one sales area the system would give a pop up and you can select what you want.
you can also change later to the sales area required provided no subsequent processing of the sales order has taken place.

How do I digitally sign with reader XI when the fill and sign functions are grayed out?

I am using Adobe Reader XI. I am suppose to digitally sign a fillable .pdf document for online submission. However, the fill and sign functions are grayed out.
What are my options to put a signature in the signature box of the document?

The document is part of a job application that is suppose to be digitally signed and submitted soon. I have thought about printing, signing, and redigitizing to submit, however, the cells are statically sized and do not expand to include all of the information when printed.

How to fill Functional Area on Appropriation request

Hi guys!
We faced a problem to fill standart field IMAK-FKBER (functional area) on Appropriation request. Despite the fact it exists in standart table, there are no standart ways to fill that field through IMA1N or IMA11.
However we assigned FA NG000001 to a Cost center 10000001 and defined that cost center in AR, but still after saving chnages no value changed in IMAK-FKBER?
Does anyone know which organisational units (company code, business area, functional location) effect on the value of functional area in IMAK table? Or is there other way to define FA for appropriation request?
Any help appreciated.

Hi Kir Zu,
I suspect this is an obsolete field, since it makes little sense to be derived from anything at all, while at the same time it is not on the screen.
SAP has a number of obsolete fields even in Customizing activities that allow an entry, but ignored by standard programs.
The best way to confirm it would be to look through ABAP code for AR data save. You can try to populate it with a user exit, but it also makes little sense since the field is not visible.
Also look at the function that creates WBS-element/Order from IMA11, it is passing the master data values to respective WBS/Order and your ABAPer can see if Functional Area is passed or not.
Functional Area makes sense only for Account Assignment Objects used in Financial Accounting, while AR is not an account assignment object.

FB50: Functional Area error

Hello Gurus-
We created a template using FB50 for our JE Revenue Expense with functional area. When we go to input something, changing amount, we get a Functional Area error F5394 is not permitted for account NNNNNN.
The only way we can get it to post is if we clear out the functional area. When this is done, the same functional area is posted?
Why is this happening?

But these notes are irrelevant. We are on ECC 6.0.
After much time on this, the problem is when the user saves the account assignment via FB50. When the cost center is entered and saved. The functional area is automatically populated. Next time they access that variant, because the functional area is there, we get the error. The user then has to clear the functional area only for SAP to input back?
Is there a way around this? I've never seen this at any of my last projects.

How to get Function Area (or Cost Center) from COSP ?

I am new to FICO and here is one question need your help:
Now I have table COSP, can anybody let me know how can I get Function Area through joining some other table?
Or how to get the cost center from COSP, since I know then I can go to CSKS to find the function area.

Actually this is a requirement for our BW system. I checked all the records to find their OBJNR start with "OR", but we need to get the function area information. Do you know how can I get that?
The link below listed all the fields we have on BW side, actually it has function area, but it returns blank, we tried to apply one OSS note in the source ECC system, but still no value returned for this field. So we have to find another way to get the function area.
