What is happening to iWeb when iCloud goes live?

My family has been a major user of iWeb, not to mention we were users of .Mac as well when that was still around. It allows us to have a private space where just our family and very close friends (not the masses like Facebook) can view our photo pages. If all I am reading is true and Apple is dropping iWeb. I will be very upset. I have been spending $99/year for the past 8 years just for this need. Clearly someone at Apple hasn't been thinking this through.
Is there official notification that iWeb will go away?

There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. Apple has announced that iLife is now an unsupported product and those iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on which does not offer iWeb or iDVD.
However, there may be some copies of the boxed iLife 11 still on the shelves that include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought. Personally, if I already didn't have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

No way to transfer purchases from one iTunes account to another.
All 3rd party apps - all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account that was used to download the apps. This cannot be transferred from one account to another.

To tell you te truth We should should've all expected this...
With no new updates to iWeb in a good couple of years, even though it's an amazing piece of software enjoyed by million. It upsets me no end to see apple continually doing this and what have they done exactly? Left goodness knows how many customers worried and uncertain about a product they love and rely on, I do anyway.
One of the main reasons I have a Mac isn't only the build quality and the OS, although that does have a fair amount to do with it. The main reason for me moving to Apple and investing in a machine all those years ago was iWeb, being a creative control freak, I love to be able to get out my Mac, open iWeb and in minutes create a new launch page for a new mix, upgrade some of my services a customers asked for, recreate any aspect of how I present myself to people at a click of a button... I know you can upload to FTP server but phooey, why damage a good thing.
This as annoyed me no end... so I'll not doubt I'll be taking it out on an Apple employee tomorrow when I take back my blown power pack for my MacBook pro, my third one in 8 months... I sign of the way apple is going?
PS as for iOS 5 ... Seriously underwhelmed, we've been given features 90% of which should have been launched in iOS3!.. Oh, although I can't handle windows anymore, have you see. The new Windows 8 layer? Watch out Apple, he's behind you

I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.

It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

It will probably turn into an unusable brick, but that is the risk that you run if you jailbreak your phone rather than having it officially unlocked.
Talk about jailbreaking is prohibited in these forums and is not supported by Apple.

Apple is no longer Hosting your websites.
Your website is CLOSED. They are not hosting websites anymore. They host your iClud data.
You still have your files on your machine, and can publish to a NEW server, if you like. You must first open an account with a domain provider and host, then publish to the new website with your info.

What's happening to my Wireless? Goes off periodically.

Well, here's my problem. The strange thing with my wireless is that it periodically breaks down, making wireless networking impossible. Even more strange is, it happens about two reboots after I've used wireless networking intensively. However, the card will work again if I detach and reattach the card off the computer.
Also, I notice there's a cable attached to the card. However, although there is only one cable, there seems to be two places that could be attached on the card. Why is this? What would happen if I unwittingly attach the cord on the other port?
But most importantly, can I stop the wireless from malfunctioning?

The problem is that it must be an HP branded card and specifically one of the ones originally offered on the machine. That is why I gave you the parts list. If you install a better card with one antenna it is going to defeat the purpose. Not sure where to get a wireless card in New Zealand.

Migration Planning: What will happen with clients when changing namespace?

We are planning to upgrade our EX2010 enviroment to EX2013.
Sadly our namespace in EX2010 is right now owa2.domain.com. The name owa2 is coming from last migration between ex2003 and ex2010. I'd like to remove this minor flaw if possible.
But what will happen with all the clients and mobile devices which are right now bound to owa2.domain.com? Is it possible to change the name back to owa.domain.com without manual interaction with the clients?

Based on my knowledge for services like pop,imap and active sync we need to have the manual interaction.Without manual intercation we cannot achieve this.
Same time we need to have the new name on the SAN certificate .
For owa users you can simply communicate the new url via email and then for internal outlook and external outlook connectivity we need to repair the profiles to force the autodiscover service to fetch up the new name.On my experience most of the times repair
will not help.So again your only hope would be reconfiguring the existing profiles.
Note : Most importantly before renaming the host A record on the external and internal dns all you need is to reduce the TTL value for the existing host A record on the name owa2.domain.com.So
that external and internal clients will not have the dns cache for a long period.
Anyhow we will wait for some expert inputs on this case.Because their ideas might be good and different than me.

Simple explanation of what is happening with iWeb and Mobile Me. Can anyone explain this simply and if our existing web site can be hosted elsewhere, if so can it still be updated using iWeb. Any advice very welcome

We have a website that has run successfully using iWeb and Mobile me. We understand Mobile Me is being discontinued from June. From this forum it seems iWeb also is not being supported any more. So can the existing site be hosted successfully with another provider or is it best to start again. If so any advice on options would be very welcome;

For the most part if you just get a new webhost you can continue to run with iWeb. Since you are still running Tiger iWeb should work just fine for you. You will simply need to publish your website to a folder or with the built in FTP in iWeb. Apple has simply quit updating iWeb & there will come a day when iWeb quits working in the later OS's whatever kitty comes after Lion.

Apple's iWeb, part of iLife, was originally designed only to upload to MobileMe in a seamless one-click operation. With its easy for methods for creating basic websites with no technical knowledge it enabled thousands of non-technical users to create and publish their personal websites.
With the demise of MobileMe this hosting has ceased. Up to and including iWeb '08, it was only possible to publish to other hosts by 'Publishing to a folder' and then uploading that local folder to a website host using a separate FTP client. From iWeb '09 an FTP method was built-in, making it easier to publish to a host other than MobileMe.
In order to upload your existing site in iWeb '09 and above:
Click on the name of the site in the sidebar: the publishing settings pane will open. Set 'Publish to' to 'FTP'. Enter the name of the site and a contact address (if desired).
In the 'FTP Server Settings' section you will need to know the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. Your site will be published in a folder with its name at root level of the server, with an index.html file at root level (which will overwrite any index.html file which may be there already). The 'Directory/Path' field may need to include a path such as '/webspace/' or 'ht_docs/' - this is dependent on your hosting service and they should tell you this. If you want to publish within a folder you can add that to the path.
You can then click the 'Test connection' button so that iWeb can check that it can get access to your server space. You should enter the URL of the site in the 'URL' field so that rss feeds and internal links have the correct address.
To publish using an earlier version of iWeb:
From the File menu choose 'Publish to a folder'. You should create a folder somewhere convenient specifically for this and choose it when publishing to a folder: this folder should not contain anything else.
You now need an FTP program (FTP is the 'protocol' used for uploading) to upload the contents of the folder to your server.Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. You can drag the contents of your folder to your webspace, or create a folder there and drag the contents to that if you prefer.
Some facilities that iWeb provided when hosted on MobileMe will not work on other servers: comments on weblogs and photos, password-protecting your site (some hosts may provide this), searching in the weblog, and a hits counter (again, some hosts can provide code for this). Slideshows in iWeb will work on other hosts than MobileMe (they use different code when FTPing which doesn't depend on scripts hosted on MobileMe as the MobileMe version does); however there is an issue with the 'buttons' which control the slideshow which are images hosted on me.com - these depend on images which used to be hosted on MobileMe. The poster 'Old Toad' on the Apple Forums has provided a workaround, described at http://oldtoadstutorials.net/No.26.html. Although iWeb continues to work Apple have removed it from sale, which is another point to consider before committing to it.
If you have not yet started a website and are tempted to use iWeb, I would advise against it; as it's no longer for sale and won't be updated, there is always the possibility that a future system upgrade may break it. The nearest programs to iWeb in facilities and general ease of use are RapidWeaver, which I think is preferable to iWeb anyway, and EverWeb, which is designed to be similar to iWeb but with more facilities.

I will respond to your inaccurate reading of my post again.Repeating stuff does not make it fact. You were told my point.
I did not make any such claim. The Link provided cost information.
So ...Nuke users maybe be surprised (delighted even) that after paying the kind of money they currently pay...were they to get it cheaper in a subscription model ( if that were to happen).
Here is a fact.
Adobe CC subscription has given me more Software tools than I would have afforded ( or bought) under the previous licence model and guess what...they are state of current development in technology, integration and efficiency. Acquired technology no less.
I would expect that if Nuke technology was brought into the Adobe Apps that would be a benefit to CC subscribers and Nuke users.
Examples of this technology onflow advantage to Adobe Apps is evident through ...Audition (from Cool Pro), SpeedGrade ( from Iridas)...and the cost has flowed down.
Mean time profits flow up.

When iCloud goes to back up on my iPad, I get an error "the last backup could not be close

iPad won't backup to iCloud - error message says "The last backup Could not be completed" - Have tried several times.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

What will happen with Authorware when XP is gone, will it work with Window's 7?

I have one computer with Window's Vista 64 bit and one with Windows XP. I understand Microsoft is not going to be doing updates for XP starting this year. Will Authorware work on another operating system like Window's 7? Can you run a Window's 7 64 bit system in 32 bit mode?

I've run Authorware on my Win 7 64bit laptop without any problems. I haven't had an opportunity to work on a big project so there may be issues I haven't run across. There is at least on issue that I know of that's out in the wild and remains unresolved. Something about WMV movies and the windows media driver that handles these movies through the movie icon. I believe the solution is to use the ActiveX or convert the movies to FLV and play them through the ActiveX flash player.

Spry menu works fine local and turns the whole web page white when it goes live. Please help.

Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out with this problem. I have been working on it all day and I took the time to design nice buttons in Photoshop and backgrounds. It works perfect viewing it in my browser locally.
I have ran into a problem. My whole page turns white I can't see anything at all when i upload it live. I use hostgator webhosting business package if this helps.
I have made sure that I uploaded my SpryAssets folder with everything in it to the server. As you can see I changed the links to work with my website.

The code below it is what makes my website go white, you can't even see anything at all. Notice all i took out was buttons and then i added the spry code. The site will still work perfect without the buttons, but as soon as I place the spry code within the page anywhere it goes white and won't work at all.

what a link to a style sheet is doing in the middle of your document. The placement of a link to CSS should only be within the head-section of your document
why a div has been placed right in the middle of a list. If you want to place the menu item in the middle, then do so using CSS on the a element.
why a form has been placed within the menu bar. Everything within the ul element will be considered part of the menu bar.
Clean up your code and all should be well.

What happens to iweb hosting when mobileme ends?

I cuurently host a website with iweb/mobileme... what will happen to hosting when mobileme switches off?

I opened an account with GoDaddy, and moved all my iDisk files to their "OnLineFileFolder" system. I also created space for iWeb hosting. With the help of their telephone support (which is excellent), I was able to re-publish all my iWeb sites to their system, and it works fine. From reading the other replies, there appears to be several solutions for iWeb hosting elsewhere.
