What is happening to my email account

Last week my emails to both outlook express and iphone stopped downloading with a message telling me user name or password incorrect even though that information had not been changed since day one of my bt account opening.
After contacting online help I was told to access my yahoo account and change my password.  I did this and everything started working again for a couple of days.  Yesterday I was again faced with the incorrect user name/password so once again I changed my password (even though I was able to sign into my yahoo account with the existing password.
After this 2nd change I downloaded messages to outlook and my iphone but this worked for only one download and then I get the incorrect username/password message again.
What on earth is going on?  I cannot change my password time I want to download messages.

Welcome to the forum, where this issue has been very widely discussed. In a nutshell it's a problem with the Yahoo! servers which will probably remain until BT have finally moved to a new platform during the coming months. A workround that sometimes works is to log in to webmail then out again; it's probably that which put it right for you for a while rather than the actual password change.

what happens to other email accounts(Gmail,AOL etc.)?

This is a very vague question. If you have a MobileMe account and have been accessing them in the MobileMe online email pane, this facility is not available in iCloud; however you can perfectly well set them up in the Mail application on a Mac or an iPhone and check them that way.
If you have an Apple ID using one of these accounts, it would be for iTunes or these forums, and you retain is for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match, and migrate your MobileMe account (if any) at http://me.com/move to move your calendars, contacts, bookmarks and email to iCloud.

  • Moving personal domain to .mac - what happens to the email accounts?

I have had my own domain for many years, hosted at an ISP. I wouldn't mind moving it to .mac. But what happens to my email addresses?
Right now I have several email addresses like this: '[email protected]'. It is actually protected by a commercial spam filter site - this filter site polls the host (personaldomain.com) for the email, filters it and then my email client polls the spam filter server.
Can I maintain this structure and the email addresses if I move the domain to .mac?
Or perhaps I should just use the forwarding option? I would like to save the monthly fee for the hosting ISP for personaldomain.com...
I searched all the help files - couldn't find an answer (sorry if I missed it).
    Thanks,
    Oliver

Thanks for the two replies - I had read those pieces, but as you say, they don't specifically address what happens to email addresses that were hosted elsewhere.
If I keep my current provider and just move the website (use domain forwarding) I know I can keep my emails intact as is. This means paying for both .Mac and the other ISP.
I am guessing if I move everything to .Mac I am going to have to move the email addresses to the IMAP service from .Mac, and that may create problems with my spam filter service...
Anyone else have any experience with this?
    Thanks!

  • ICloud is not compatable with my mac, what will happen to my .mac account?

I have an older macbook pro with a core duo processor (not core duo 2) and therefore will not be able to upgrade my processing system to Lion and cannot use iCloud.  Does anyone know what is going to happen to my @mac.com email account come June?

If don't upgrade to Lion, yes.
Can I keep my MobileMe email address once I move to iCloud?
Yes. If you have an active MobileMe account when you sign up for iCloud, you can keep your me.com or mac.comemail address and any email aliases you have created and move your MobileMe mail, contacts, and calendars, as well as your bookmarks, to the new service. When you're ready to make the move, go to www.me.com/move.

  • Waiting for the new Q10 to hit sprint but what will happen to my email?

I am currently waiting for the new Q10 to hit sprint.  but i am hearing that i will no longer be able to use my blackberry.net email with the new blackberry.  i currently use it as my primary email.  1st is it true they will no longer have blackberry email and if so what steps do i need to take in order to make a smooth transistion?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1. yes, the blackberry.net email is no longer available... and quite honestly, in my opinion, this is a good thing. The blackberry.net email is not available anywhere except ON your BlackBerry, you cannot view it anywhere but on the handheld device itself and no backup otherwise. Get a free gmail, yahoo or Outlook.com account.
    2. Read this:  Article ID: KB33260 BlackBerry (hosted) email address forwarding for BlackBerry 10 OS
So, create and start using the other free email account now. When you finally transition over to BlackBerry10, you will have your solution in place for forwarding the blackberry.net email account.

  • What will happen to my iTunes account if I restore my computer to its original factory settings?

I want to restore my computer to its original factory settings but I used this computer to setup my iTunes account and have purchased/downloaded music from the iTunes store.  When I reset my computer what will happen to my account and the music I've purchased, will it be gone?  I have an iPod shuffle that my music is synced to.

Backup the entire library with this User Tip. The same tool can be used to back up other personal data.
Deauthorize the computer in iTunes before restoring to factory settings.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
    Install iTunes.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.

What exactly do you mean by account?  you wan to set a user on your laptop?
Do you wan to get a new apple Id on the new laptop? Why?
    Are these laptops Macs?
What exactly are you trying to do?
And what does this have to to with Appleworks, which is a long since discontinued Office suit.

  • What are some secure Free email accounts?

What is a good secure free email to use? It would have to be able to work on my mac. I have had a problem with my aol email.

I have used Hotmail for over 10 years without problems. The spam filters are pretty good.
Other friends and family have been using Gmail and are very happy with it. There is also Yahoo mail
In all cases it is possible to use Mail, Entourage and other email clients in addition to web access.

  • What just happened with my email settings?

Whenever I have composed an email in the past, I would always be able to change the font size to make the print larger.  The options for that would be right there on the screen.
Now it's not there anymore.  Is there a way I can pull it back up again and if so, how do I do it?
I am only able to change the default settings which doesn't seem to do anything for the font size.

Without knowing your browser and/or OS I would guess if you run Internet explorer it could be the recent update to version 11, try running this site in compatibility mode

  • What exactly happens to my apps and settings when i create a new user account, and delete all the other user accounts?

Such apps and settings that apply to icloud, appstore, and itunes. I know the apps will still be in the new account and any other purchased apps will be in the appstore for re-download. But what will happen I delete user accounts and choose not to save any folders or files of the soon to be deleted user accound? I don't have a disk to do a clean install and I'm trying to give my super old macbook pro to a friend and I want to make sure the laptop is his and everything of mine is gone. Will erasing free space do that trick?

If it is not installed in HD>Applications folder and installed in a user account then it's gone with the user account. It's that simple.

  • Email accounts maximum, domain names maximum

Re: Mac OS X Server v10.4 (10-client license)
Is there a limited number of email accounts that can be created, or domains names that can be served?

If the email accounts and domains are unaffected by
the 10-client limit, what are the limits for email
    accounts and domains?
There is no exact answer to this question. You can have 100'000 accounts with little traffic, while 100 heavily used accounts could bring your server to its knees. It's a matter of configuration, hardware, bandwidth, etc.
Tell us what you plan to host on OS X Server and somebody will be able to give you a better answer.

  • What is happening to Icloud

What is happening icloud my email has been down all day not good enough

At the present time it seems apparent that iWeb, and iDVD, will no longer be supported by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that some new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.  iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ RSS Feed Widget
All of these issues can be replaced with 3rd party options.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
Apple has announced that iLife is now an unsupported product and those iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on which does not offer iWeb or iDVD.
However, there may be some copies of the boxed iLife 11 still on the shelves that  include iWeb and iDVD.  Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought. Personally, if I already didn't have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.
