What is happening with Firefox; it is getting slower & slower from v5 thru 6 & now v7; it basically will not load webpages on start and is then very slow?

Since V5 thru v6 and now v7 firefox has been getting slower & slower particularly at logon and is now virtually useless.
IE9 is working Ok.
Problem is occurring on two different computers.
Have doe necessary maintenance clearing cache, etc and on computer running registry mechanic, win Optimiser * and norton computer maintenance regularly
Any suggestions appreciated?

FireFox will not load any web pages and says to check firewall. What can I do?

I updated the new version of FireFox and now when I open it Google appears the way it should but when I type into the search bar or type in a web address it will not load. The message says to check my internet connection and my firewall to make sure firefox is allowed to use the web. Everything looks ok to me and I do not know how to fix it, help!

WHAT is happening with Firefox?????

I have had NOTHING but problems/issues with Firefox in the last week. One day all my tabs disappeared. Support had me start another profile. Two days later all my bookmarks disappeared. The next day I can't print ANYTHING from American Greetings. Today I can't watch a church service on Saddleback. My computer is running so slow I have to reboot twice a day. NONE of this happens when I open the internet on Explorer. I am about to uninstall Firefox if I can't get some answers/help.

I do not see any other questions asked by you in this forum. You may note most people on here are volunteers and ordinary users of firefox, which is of course free software.
If you ask your questions, giving a bit more detail, someone will probably try to help you.

Firefox will not load webpages and has trouble quiting

Recently, firefox has randomly stopped being able to load pages as if the wireless was not work (redirected to the cannot find server page). I would think this was a problem with the internet, but when I restart my wireless it is not fixed and my other browsers do not see the same issue. When I restart firefox it works again, but I usually have to do this several times a day. Another issue, firefox will not quit when I do command Q. The window will close but the application will not quit, and I have to go and force quit it. Background info, using Macbook, wireless internet, firefox is up to date. Thanks for your help.

Firefox recently starts with an additional [- o x] window pane, will not load homepage on startup, and will no longer remember text sizes for websites.

Recently, Firefox no longer starts at my home page, despite that option in effect. Firefox no longer remembers the text size used the last time any given site was visited. Firefox allows one instance of customizing (right click in a blank tab area) then locks that option out and locks the menu bar, allowing only use of the orange drop down square. Adding or removing one of the toolbar options (right click in a blank tab area) removes the additional pane (minimize, maximize, close), but it returns each time Firefox is re-started.

I was able to resolve this problem, but only by completely clean re-instal of Firefox (all settings had to be dumped).
This was more of a work-around than a solution, but the problem is resolved.

Both Safari and Firefox will not load webpage

This is an issue in both Safari and Firefox (I use Firefox as my default, but since it's happening in Safari too, I figured I could post the problem here). I frequently visit Crate & Barrel's website and cb2.com, and as of recent I have not been able to load the site. I've tried on both my eMac (Safari and Firefox) and on my new iMac. I was able to load the page on a windows computer in my house. I'm not sure if I ever viewed their website on my iMac since it's new as of last month. On the eMac I visited the site often. Why all of the sudden would I not be able to load the website? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Firefox has been hanging on nearly every web page I go to, also it will not load any flash video, I have tried reinstalling plugins but this has not helped .

What is happening with FCP 7 now?

I've just been engaged to make a film in a remote isolated community. They want me to set up a 'film studio' for the community at the same time. Normally this would be a no-brainer for me. I'd arrive with an Apple Tower, several monitors, some decent speakers, and FCP Studio installed.
I'm wondering what is happening with FCP these days. All I've heard is negative rumours about FCP X being an amateur app (iMovie upgraded) and FCP7 being discontinued. I may not even be able to buy FCP Studio (with 7)?
I have a distinct disaffection for iMovie ... the underlying logic has always eluded me. I've been a faithful Final Cut user since the very first version, have cut scores of films with it.
I'd love to hear the 'latest' news about how Apple is handling this, or not.
I hate the idea of trying to set up a community studio with any of the alternatives.

By 'current interface' do you mean FCP X? I haven't had time to try it yet. I've never liked iMovie. I love the simplicity and 'logic' of FCP - once one has worked out the most efficient pipeline.
I find I can show someone how to edit in FCP in about 30 minutes. It took my son about ten. And then the learner is on his/her way with great ease. (I think it's a matter of having myself figured out over the years a very efficient 1,2,3 ... eschewing the 10 other ways to do every operation; I suspect it's the 10 different ways to do each operation that most people find confusing).
Fogo Island Newfoundland out in the North Atlantic is a particularly enlightened place, quite fascinating. Very film savvy. I'd want to set them up with something professional - they might easily turn out some decent filmmakers. Meaning 'professionals'.
If Apple was planning to upgrade FCP X to a professional app in the near future (I'm just quoting what I've heard rumoured) then I could see going that way. I have to confess that I also don't want to have to spend a month getting up to speed on FCP X before heading out for Fogo. And then looking incompetent when I discover I can't do something on it (that I take for granted in FCP 7).

Does anyone know what's happened with appkey in Tuxedo 7.1/8.0?
We are using the custom authentication service which checks
the user name and password against the table of registered users
and returns the user ID as follows:
tpreturn( TPSUCCESS, userID, NULL, 0, 0);
In application services we extract this user ID from
svcinfo->appkey.
Our applications based on this scheme run pretty happily under
Tuxedo 6.5/Jolt 1.1 vol.3, but doesn't do so under
Tuxedo 7.1/Jolt 1.2.1 (patch level 100) as well as Tuxedo 8.0.
Instead svcinfo->appkey is always set to 0x80000000 whatever
value is returned by the authentication service.

Of course, I've set SECURITY to USER_AUTH, and defined AUTHSVC
as "AUTHSVC". The C-function implementing the AUTHSVC service
is called on establishing a new session.
Please note that I take applications that are in operation
for several years now (in fact, they run on our production
machine at this very moment).
I just recompile/configure/boot them under Tuxedo 7.1/8.0 and,
to my surprise, they don't work.
What's more interesting, the initial release of Tuxedo 7.1 does
not have this bug. The problem arises only after applying
the patch (#100). Tuxedo 8.0 does not work as expected from
the very beginning.
In patchlev.txt I've noticed two lines related to appkey:
038. CR042563 update appkey after a call to impersonate_user (jolt)
048. CR044066 Incorrect appkey passed when interoperating from Tuxedo 7.1 to
6.5 (jolt)
It looks as if the problem was introduced with one of these
fixes.
Maybe I should mention that we run Tuxedo applications under
Windows 2000.
