What is HIS in SAP ABAP-HR ?

Hi..Experts.......
Plzzzzz can U explain the HR Information System (HIS).
What exactly the use of this n how to use this in HR.
Thnks in advance..
.......Priya

SAP HCM is one of the most popular Modules in SAP and the training material is designed for an End User as well as a Consultant.
SAP HCM consists of  important Sub-Modules like Personnel Administration (PA),Organizational Management (OM) ,Time ,Payroll
The aim in the Human Resources component is to be able to process employee related data according to business requirements in an effective structure. •The Human Resources module uses a system of data grouped together called infotypes. The Human Resources module uses a system of data grouped together called infotypes. And storing bulk data like time management and Payroll data in Cluster files. HR Programming involves data extraction and manipulation from these infotypes and clusters using LDB/MACRO and function modules.

  • What is main deff  between indian payroll and us payroll in sap abap hr

    HI Experts,
what is main deff  between indian payroll and us payroll in sap abap hr.
    Regards
    Naresh

    Hi,
    U.S payrolls:
SAP has given country specific payrolls for more than 40countries Each country specific version is called country version.  Every country has a country specific payroll driver and pay roll schema based on modular international payroll driver and schema.  When sap says country version it includes country specific civil, tax laws, contributory and other tax laws (all these details are populated in the country specific info types).
    Some of them are:
    - Personnel data -address-6, bank details-7, personal data-2, challenges-4 etc..
    - Actions -0000 info type
    - Organizational data
So when you run a payroll for a specific country, besides general information valid for the international pay roll, one needs to enter specific details in the particular info types for example if you are running U.S  pay roll you need enter SSN no. to uniquely identify an employee in the info type 0002-personal data.
Besides the common infotypes these are some of the U.S pay roll specific infotypes that one has to configure in U.S pay roll.
    - Garnishment Order - Info type 019
    - Creating a Garnishment Order - Info type 0195
    Inidan PayRolls:-
Indian pay roll besides common info types, uses specific info types from 0580 to 0590 and 0045 (loans infotype) -- these info types will capture the data related to all the major components of Indian pay roll.
    Hope this is helpful,
    Thanks

  • What is best for my career: Sap ABAP or Sap BI

    Hi Experts,
I am Rajesh, done my bachelor degree in Information Technology,
having 4 years of Exp as a Mainframes Programmer in a Banking Software company.
    my job containts
    30 % understanding the product
    40 % Analysis
    30 % Programming
my career Goal is to get SAP job in Abroad(US/UK/AUS) for that i am planning like below:
First i want to gain some minimum(8-10 Months) Exp in India by
Choosing one Best(or)Hot Cake Module in SAP, which matches any one of 3 points
1)Currently that module should have more demand less supply.
    2)Should have good Future
3)it should not be much vast Because need to expertise Early
I already Trained and good in SAP-Core ABAP,
but just Core ABAP is not enough to get expertise in ABAP, because i need to add it with
    OOPS, Webdynpro, Workflow ETC.
even i Trained in all the above, it is difficult to be Expert in 1 YR.
and Hard to get job in US/UK/AUS.
So i am planning to go with SAP-BI for below Reasons
    1) SAP BI is not that much Vast compare to ABAP for becoming an Expert on it
    2) for Skill Set ABAP+BI, can have good openings
    3) SAP-BI is a techno functional Job, where ABAP is not a final Destination.
    4) in Future, BI will help to get into HANA.
I request you to guide me, whether my decision towards my Goal is correct or not,
if not, please give valuable Suggestions to reach my destination.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
as per as your selection of module, its a good mix, but i have a few words that i wants to share with you. Being a developer in sap abap i have come across some points where many indivisuals get strucked by asking what is next.
Started with sap abap you will have many options to go ahead, as you have seen that the combination of BI along with ABAP has an added advantages, and yes later on you can move towards HANA, one of the major sap module in which the database of sap persist in furure.
As far as i concern, if you wants to be in technical stream of sap you will have UI5, Webdynpro, Workflow, BW/ BI, HANA etc, so you may go ahead with these options, but as you have told that you wants to get hands on these things in one year, i think you have to devote in abap as much as possible
what you will require to know the syntax and semantics used in SAP, along with all the stuffs associated with it, once you will get familiar with it, you can play as you wants.
But one thing more is that its not mandatory to have sap abap knowledge to learn other technologies,  you can learn without abap, but if yiu have hands on in abap somehow it will boost your future in related technilogies.
So, finally your decision is on right track, what you will need is to get it as your passion.

  • Whats the important of "  table-type  " in sap abap?

    hi,
    i am ahmed. abap fresher.
i want to what use and importance of table-type in sap abap which comes in
                         datadictionary
                                V
                        data types
    V----
    V                         V                                 V
    data element       structure                   table type
i want to know about table type. plz give a brief idea.
    bye.

    hi,
    Transparent Tables
A transparent table in the dictionary has a one-to-one relationship with a table in the database. Its structure in R/3 Data Dictionary corresponds to a single database table. For each transparent table definition in the dictionary, there is one associated table in the database. The database table has the same name, the same number of fields, and the fields have the same names as the R/3 table definition. When looking at the definition of an R/3 transparent table, it might seem like you are looking at the database table itself.
Transparent tables are much more common than pooled or cluster tables. They are used to hold application data. Application data is the master data or transaction data used by an application. An example of master data is the table of vendors (called vendor master data), or the table of customers (called customer master data). An example of transaction data is the orders placed by the customers, or the orders sent to the vendors.
Transparent tables are probably the only type of table you will ever create. Pooled and cluster tables are not usually used to hold application data but instead hold system data, such as system configuration information, or historical and statistical data.
Both pooled and cluster tables have many-to-one relationships with database tables. Both can appear as many tables in R/3, but they are stored as a single table in the database. The database table has a different name, different number of fields, and different field names than the R/3 table. The difference between the two types lies in the characteristics of the data they hold, and will be explained in the following sections.
    Table Pools and Pooled Tables
A pooled table in R/3 has a many-to-one relationship with a table in the database (see Figures 3.1 and 3.2). For one table in the database, there are many tables in the R/3 Data Dictionary. The table in the database has a different name than the tables in the DDIC, it has a different number of fields, and the fields have different names as well. Pooled tables are an SAP proprietary construct.
When you look at a pooled table in R/3, you see a description of a table. However, in the database, it is stored along with other pooled tables in a single table called a table pool. A table pool is a database table with a special structure that enables the data of many R/3 tables to be stored within it. It can only hold pooled tables.
R/3 uses table pools to hold a large number (tens to thousands) of very small tables (about 10 to 100 rows each). Table pools reduce the amount of database resources needed when many small tables have to be open at the same time. SAP uses them for system data. You might create a table pool if you need to create hundreds of small tables that each hold only a few rows of data. To implement these small tables as pooled tables, you first create the definition of a table pool in R/3 to hold them all. When activated, an associated single table (the table pool) will be created in the database. You can then define pooled tables within R/3 and assign them all to your table pool (see Figure 3.2).
Pooled tables are primarily used by SAP to hold customizing data.
When a corporation installs any large system, the system is usually customized in some way to meet the unique needs of the corporation. In R/3, such customization is done via customizing tables. Customizing tables contain codes, field validations, number ranges, and parameters that change the way the R/3 applications behave.
Some examples of data contained in customizing tables are country codes, region (state or province) codes, reconciliation account numbers, exchange rates, depreciation methods, and pricing conditions. Even screen flows, field validations, and individual field attributes are sometimes table-driven via settings in customizing tables.
During the initial implementation of the system the data in the customizing tables is set up by a functional analyst. He or she will usually have experience relating to the business area being implemented and extensive training in the configuration of an R/3 system.
    Table Clusters and Cluster Tables
A cluster table is similar to a pooled table. It has a many-to-one relationship with a table in the database. Many cluster tables are stored in a single table in the database called a table cluster.
A table cluster is similar to a table pool. It holds many tables within it. The tables it holds are all cluster tables.
Like pooled tables, cluster tables are another proprietary SAP construct. They are used to hold data from a few (approximately 2 to 10) very large tables. They would be used when these tables have a part of their primary keys in common, and if the data in these tables are all accessed simultaneously. The data is stored logically as shown in Figure 3.3.
Figure 3.3 : Table clusters store data from several tables based on the primary key fields that they have in common.
Table clusters contain fewer tables than table pools and, unlike table pools, the primary key of each table within the table cluster begins with the same field or fields. Rows from the cluster tables are combined into a single row in the table cluster. The rows are combined based on the part of the primary key they have in common. Thus, when a row is read from any one of the tables in the cluster, all related rows in all cluster tables are also retrieved, but only a single I/O is needed.
A cluster is advantageous in the case where data is accessed from multiple tables simultaneously and those tables have at least one of their primary key fields in common. Cluster tables reduce the number of database reads and thereby improve performance.
For example, as shown in Figure 3.4, the first four primary key fields in cdhdr and cdpos are identical. They become the primary key for the table cluster with the addition of a standard system field pageno to ensure that each row is unique.

what is the difference between SAP HR module and SAP-ABAP-HR?
    Thanks in advance..:)

    Hi,
SAP-HR is software component like SAP-BASIS is a component.
    Its part of the CORE.
As far as I know there is nothing like SAP-ABAP-HR.
But ABAP offers some special syntax for HR though.
    Like INFOTYPES, PROVIDE ENDPROVDIE etc.

    hi,
what is difference between sap locking and database locking. Iam locked the table mara by using lock objects.
But iam unable to unlock the mara table. I give u the coding. Please check it.

              matnr     = 'SOU-1'.
    IF sy-subrc = 0.
      WRITE: 'IT IS unlocked'.
    ENDIF.

    Hi Paluri
Here is the difference between SAP locks and Database locks, i will try to find the solution to your code.
    Regards
    Ashish
Database Locks: The database system automatically sets database locks when it receives change statements (INSERT, UPDATE, MODIFY, DELETE) from a program. Database locks are physical locks on the database entries affected by these statements. You can only set a lock for an existing database entry, since the lock mechanism uses a lock flag in the entry. These flags are automatically deleted in each database commit. This means that database locks can never be set for longer than a single database LUW; in other words, a single dialog step in an R/3 application program.
Physical locks in the database system are therefore insufficient for the requirements of an R/3 transaction. Locks in the R/3 System must remain set for the duration of a whole SAP LUW, that is, over several dialog steps. They must also be capable of being handled by different work processes and even different application servers. Consequently, each lock must apply on all servers in that R/3 System.
    SAP Locks:
To complement the SAP LUW concept, in which bundled database changes are made in a single database LUW, the R/3 System also contains a lock mechanism, fully independent of database locks, that allows you to set a lock that spans several dialog steps. These locks are known as SAP locks.
The SAP lock concept is based on lock objects. Lock objects allow you to set an SAP lock for an entire application object. An application object consists of one or more entries in a database table, or entries from more than one database table that are linked using foreign key relationships.
Before you can set an SAP lock in an ABAP program, you must first create a lock object in the ABAP Dictionary.

  • What is tthe role of ABAP Engine in EP server

    Hi to All,
do any one of u let me know the role of ABAP engine in EP server! How can i make use of ABAP Engine. I know to work with J2EE Engine, but generally what we will do in ABAP Engine.
It looks to u all as a silly question, but i am not clear of this function, so i need a detail explanation of this.
    Regards,
    Sireesha.

    Hi,
before there was a WAS 6.20 (Web Application Server) SAP's R/3 Applications were build up on the so called R/3 Basis System. One part of the R/3 Basis was the APAP/4 Runtime. This was true until R/3 version 4.5.
In parallel SAP started to develop a J2EE Application Server. They founded/buyed a company in Bulgaria called InQMy. You might know that the portal version EP5.0 was based on the InQMy J2EE engine.
Since R/3 4.7 the old R/3 Basis is called "Web Application Server" (WAS 6.20). Additional to the ABAP/4 Runtime this WAS contains the former ITS (Internet Transaction Server" and the BSP's (Business Server Pages). The old ABAP/4 Runtime is now called "ABAP Stack".
The old InQMy J2EE Server is now called "J2EE Engine" or "JAVA Stack".
With Release 6.40 of the WAS it contains both the ABAP Stack and the JAVA Stack.
Now to Your Question. A standarad EP installation just contains the JAVA stack of the WAS. The ABAP stack normally is not installed, because it is not used by the EP. You could install the ABAP stack in addition. But for what purposes ? Well if You would like to develop a webapplication based on BSP.
If You are allread running an R/3 System it contains an ABAP Stack but normally no JAVA stack.
The Java Stack of the EP Server can call the ABAP Stack of an R/3 System via RFC (remote function call).
    More confused now ?

  • Which one SAP ABAP or BI/BW ?

    Dear ALL,
Myself  Kiran from Bangalore, working as Software Developer(PHP/Mysql) having 3 year of total experience.
I always had a dream to learn some Technical modules like ABAP or BI  and to become SAP consultant from my initial days of my career.
I also took opinions from SAP gurus through  discussion forum,But they said in-order to enter into SAP field one should have domain experience . so i just dropped my idea of  entering SAP field.
But after  3 years of programming , i just wanted to learn SAP ABAP/BI/BW , so i  need to know answers for fallowing question.
    1. Which one suites me either SAP ABAP or BI suites me ? Considering my past 3 years of programming experience?
    2. What are the ways that i can enter in to SAP field in technical modules?
This is link to discussion that i had it in earlier days

    Hello Kiran,
Getting a job in SAP as a fresher ( ABAP / BI / Any module) is infact a difficult task ..
That depends upon totally on you and You only..Yes, Based on your hard work, dedication,
sincerity and the level of  efforts you put in, you can get into SAP..The entry is only
difficult..Once you enter you can sustain..But that too depends on your interest alone..
Simply Saying, IF You want yourself to be a Strong Competent, you need to Work Hard..thats it..
    Coming to your Question,
In Market, The Openings for BI as a FRESHER is low compared to ABAP..
Hope the above statement answers your question.. Dont confuse too much..Get suggestions from
the Reliable People you know and take off..But I Clearly mention the market situation..Rest is in you
Hands..Dont Worry..Take Clear decision and Lets Start..All is Well ..

  • Why use filters in BADI (SAP-ABAP) when same can be achieved using paramete

    Hello Experts!
I am a newbie in SAP and this might be a very basic question so, i am sorry for that!
I was wondering, what is the use of "filters(flt_val)" in BADI (SAP-ABAP) ?
I guess we can achieve the same using parameters ?
I know that we can pass structure as flt_val, thus reducing the no. of parameters sent. I also read about sending country and things like that to our BADIs to behave differently based on that.
(i.e. say tax rates differ from country to country so may be we can set tax rate of GB to 16 or something..)
but still i am confused about the significance of Filters.
I will be grateful, if anyone could answer this one...
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Rgds,
    Mayur

    Hello Mr. Venu,
Thanks for your answer. It helped somewhat, but it's not solved the doubt to 100%...
Please let me ask you for some more information on this one and please correct if i am wrong: -
Suppose, there are 10 company codes that we need to handle, so as you said, we have 10 implementations of the BADI.
We decide to use company code as filter. We have 10 different implementations of BADI, which are deveoped
by 10 different teams(or 10 members of the same team etc..).
This will have 10 different Active implementations of our BADI. and based on the filter, respective impls are called.
    Is this right or wrong?
If right, then why not use parameters instead? They can do the same!
If wrong, i am sorry, but could you elaborate about the mistake?
    Thanks again,
    Mayur.
