What is IMAP SERVER DIRECTORY?

Please! TBIRD is great but its difficult to understand many things.
Please in your next version bring back the old Context Help where i could drag an HELP??? arrow to (over) some feature and would get a simple explanation note.

If the setting is greyed out perhaps you have restrictions enabled that would prevent someone from changing accounts. Settings>General>Restrictions>Allow Changes>Accounts.

Who is your email provider? Your email provider names their server. Best ask them.
If you have Thunderbird running on another device, go to Tools-Account Settings-Outgoing Server (SMTP) and see what is there.

Have an iPhone 3G on 2.0 and trying to get an IMAP connection to a Cisco Unity Express that is a Linux based voicemail server and IMAP server (for voicemail to email). I setup the account per the best I could and I can get the iPhone to reach the IMAP server but never see any mails - the message on the iPhone is:

Not sure of what the issue - here are logs from my IMAP server if that helps any - I know its not an authentication issue as that part seems to pass

I got this to work!  My Unified Messaging Service was originally setup to Specify an Exchange Server.  That is where I had put the  DNS name of the  CAS server (and that DNS entry pointed to several CAS servers).  I changed the Service to Search for Exchange Servers instead and used that same DNS name in the Active Directory DNS Domain Name.  When I do the test of this service, it tells me it Failed to locate a Domain Controller via DNS, but that is just informational.  It also says it successfully connected to the Exchange CAS server with the autodiscover.xml.  Now my mailboxes on both Exchange 2007 and 2010 are able to receive voicemail messages with this one Service configured.

  • Cannot send email ("IMAP" server?)

I got an iPhone 5c last week. Verizon set up my email accounts. I receive everything to my two cox.net mailboxes just fine on my new phone.
Whenever I attempt to send an email I get the following error message:
Cannot Send Mail - the user name or password for SMTP:(my email)@smtp.cox.net is incorrect.
Under "settings", it says the server is  "IMAP." Just IMAP. No option to change or edit servers appears to exist, either.
Now, on my iPad, my incoming mail server is "pop.cox.net" and my outgoing server is smtp.cox.net. No issues there. Always has been - and thought it was on my phone, too.
I have deleted all of my mail accounts several times, and re-added them, only to have this "IMAP" server on my mail accounts, and appears to be what is preventing me from sending mail.

  • I get nothing but error messages, -"Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following: 113 that mail is not available" or 364? there are hundreds stacked up.You must give answers to how to fix these when we do "search" add the error code number

I get nothing but error messages, -
"Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following: 113 that mail is not available"  or  the same with:  364?
Now there are hundreds stacked up on my desktop.
I cannot find the answer anywhere. You need to  give answers to how to fix these errors because when I  "search" "error code" or the number there is NOTHING. NOTHING!  Yet you give us these stupid error codes
then you do not give us ANYTHING on how to fix these. These error codes make me so mad it makes me hate outlook, and hate the developers and hate microsoft.  How in the world can you give us ERROR codes without the explanation of what
to do or how to fix it. You need to  add each  error code number in your "search" then explain what it is and how to fix it.  I am not a tech. I am a lawyer. I have googled the entire string of error code and nothing is clear.
So, for the last several years, I get these error codes. Also, there is another error code that won't go away--it is the password error code that asks if I want to store the password. Yes, so I say YES. but it pops back. I am sick of this. This is the reason
I hate Microsoft and I love google. #1 they respond to error, #2 them try to fix them you do not. I paid the full price to buy the OUtlook 2010, almost $500 just to get outlook, and all I got was error codes. I could not even open it because all I would get
was that error codes and NO ONE knew how to fix them. WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM that you cannot fix the stupid error codes that you imbed? PLEASE HELP

    Hi,
I understand how frustrated you are when facing such an issue, maybe I can provide some suggestions on the problem.
Based on the description, you should be using an IMAP account setup in Outlook. As for the error message, usually it's caused by a corrupted message on the Server. I suggest you logon the Webmail site, check if sending/receiving emails works well.
If you find any unusual emails that cannot be read or sent, try deleting them to try again.
I also suggest you create a new profile to setup the IMAP account:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918/en-us
Contact your Email Service Provider to get the correct and latest account settings, since you have been using Outlook for years, some settings may have been changed while you haven't been informed.
For the steps to setup an account in Outlook 2010, please refer to:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/outlook-help/add-or-remove-an-email-account-HA010354414.aspx
    I hope this helps.

  • Multiple clients with same account on a single IMAP server

    Hi,
I am connecting to a IMAP server using same account but from 2 different machines. From one machine a mark a message as SEEN=FALSE. But on the second machine, the flag will still be TRUE.
Is there any way to co-ordinate between multiple clients so that all the clients are in sync.
    Regards,
    Nitin.

I was able to resolve the problem using addMessageCountListener and messagesAdded method, as suggested by you.
I am now facing another problem. Whenever a new message is received, code inside messagesAdded method gets executed. Here I am trying to spawn another thread and do some stuff. But this new thread is not starting at all. It goes into some JavaMail:EventQueue and does nothing. What is the concept of EventQueue here? How can I get this new thread executed?
Also will there be synchronization problems in messagesAdded method. Say I received a message and I am processing it in the messagesAdded method. In the mean time another message comes up. How will this behave.

Do you have one, two or more entries in the left colum of Mail.app for your mail server(s)?  That is, do you have your Mail.app set up with either a btinternet entry, with a btyahoo entry, or both?  Or more?
I'm guessing that you might have one account (btyahoo?) listed for incoming (IMAP server) mail, and with the outbound (SMTP server) mail is configured and named btinternet.
Based on what little I see posted, it looks like BT uses both btinternet and btyahoo, but I'm not exactly clear on how they have their stuff set up, and their web set gets helpful and tries to help configure my mail — I don't immediately see a single web page with the mail server set-up details.  The BT email client set-up starts here.

  • How to copy email messages between 2 accounts on IMAP server side

    Hello,
I have a need that I'm not yet able to solve on my Mac Mini Server (OSX10.9.4 build 13E28 - Server 3.1.2 build 13S4517).
I have configured and started my Server with the IMAP Server that manage my emails domain; at the moment I have 8 accounts able to retrieve emails from the external ISP, send emails outside through the same ISP and manage locally the emails exchange. All it's working as good as well.
Now, caused by operative needs of the company, all the emails of a specific account should be copied/forwarded/duplicated (one of this solution would be indifferently accepted) to a different account. The second account isn't configured on the ISP site but only my Server and should be used as a something similar to a live-backup of the first account. This is necessary because the first account "can be / has to be" managed by a lot of people (we know that this behavior could be dangerous for the integrity of the mail repository but we can't do in a different way...) and so we need to create a second account that will be managed by the administrator only to handle in real-time possible recoveries...
Have someone ideas/suggestion about a standard way (i.e. I mean something already foreseen inside Maverick/Server app) that we can follow to configure the environment that I've described?
Thanks a lot for your help and support

Irina, I don't think the mail api is not really designed for that. To do things at the database level, you might want to look at streams to pump all changes over to an archive database.
However one thing to bear in mind is that if you are capturing changes in the user's mail folder then you do not have an authoritative record of all mail (just an archive of what actually made it into their folders (e.g. if they choose not to keep a sent copy, then you will not have it in your archive).
For this reason, true compliance archiving usually aims to intercept the smtp delivery process (either as an intermediate gateway or plugin to a gateway .. google for such products).
you would normally do this at your corporate smtp gateway. unfortunately, I don't believe you can internally intercept/hook the OCS smtp process with 100% reliability (e.g. via a trigger), so I'd suggest you look at external smtp solutions if you really need compliance archiving.

  • Download all files from a specific application server directory to Local pc

    Hi Experts,
I have a requirement of downloading all the files from an application server directory to a local pc.
I know how to download a single file from an application server at a time provided the file name is known.
But my requirement is to download all the files in that particulary directory, because I dont know how many files were created in that directory and what are their names.
    Please kindly provide the solution.
    Thanks,

    Nelson,
Here is the function module that I have used to get all the application server files.
appl_dir_name is the path of the directory  i.e. '/outbound/PD1/Applnserverfiles/'
it_appl_srv_fls is the internal table where all the files gets stored in.
    CALL FUNCTION 'EPS_GET_DIRECTORY_LISTING'

  • Mapping Mail to the IMAP Server's sent mail folder.

In Mail, how do I tell my IMAP account what folder to store sent mail in on the IMAP server?
NOTE! I am not asking how to make it store on the server. I know if you go to a mail boxes preferences you can check a box that says "Store sent messages on server." I assure you that box is checked.
On my windows box I use Thunderbird, and with Thunderbird I have to manually tell it I want to store all of my mail in the subscribed folder entitled "sent-mail." This works fine. I can not figure out how to do this with Mail. I am assuming this is why my sent mail is not getting stored on the server.
    Cheers,
    ccerinojr

Click on the Sent folder, then click Mailbox in the Menubar, place cursor on Use This Mailbox For, and choose Sent, which you should find in black type.
    Keep us posted.

  • Cannot Read Body Parts for certain messages on IMAP Server

    Hi There
I get the following exception on some (not all) messages when trying to extract and save body parts from an email message on the IMAP server. I can iterate through all the body parts, get the filenames, etc. but when I try to read them I get the following error. Any ideas?
It is MS Exchange (not sure what version) and seems to happen more when there are multiple file attachments or embedded images. We also have a POP3 option and this seems to work fine, only fails when using IMAP...

I presume the work around you refer to is to make a copy
of the message? That's all I could find in the FAQ under
    IMAP. I'll try that.
Unfortunately the server is sitting with a client on their LAN
and we don't have remote access for debugging. We don't
currently have a way to easily enable debugging for testing.
Getting access for testing can take a few days ... but I shall
do this if the work around does not work.

  • If I do NOT store my sent messages on IMAP server, where are they?

My hosting service warned me that I am taking up too much space with my Sent messages being stored on the IMAP server.  If I uncheck the box to store Sent messages on the server in my account preferences, then where do I find my sent messages?  All of the folders listed alongside the sidebar seem to be linked directly to the IMAP account.  I can't find my sent messages anymore.
They aren't gone though.  If I check the box again, the messages show up again.  So my question is how do I not store them on the server but still store and be able to see them on my computer?
    Thanks
    Bob

That is a solution if I want to do a one-time move of my sent messages to another folder and then leave things as-is.  But once I stop storing the sent messages on the server, how do I access new sent messages after that?  The folder is not visible anywhere, from what I can tell.

  • After switch to new Imap server, todos in Mail no longer work

I use mail.app with imap and have used the "to do" feature a lot to mark mail messages with a follow up todo. This is the function where you select some text in the mail message and click the to do button, and a little yellow pad opens at the top where you can input a to do that is related (and linked) to the email message.
I recently switched hosting companies and now when I do what I described above, i get the yellow pad, but you can't enter text or otherwise create a to do.
I've seen a couple other posts on this

but no solution (other than upgrade to snow leopard; since it worked before, I don't think that's the only possible fix) I tried changing the prefs to store todos on my mac, rather than on the imap server but that did not fix it. Any clues?

I've not found that service very reliable. It is much more reliable to create a To Do list in iCal. You can copy/paste contents from Mail into iCal new To Dos and attach an e-mail contact as well.

  • Syncing mail to the imap server?

is there a way to tell os x mail to restore an item to the imap server if it doesnt exist on the server but it does exist in mail?

I’m still not sure what the problem is.
If Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Keep copies of messages for offline viewing is set to All messages and their attachments (the default setting), then Mail 2.x maintains a local copy of server-stored mailboxes using the exact same format it uses for locally stored mailboxes, except the suffix of the mailbox folder in the filesystem is .imapmbox instead of .mbox.
You cannot import *.imapmbox mailboxes directly into Mail because when you do File > Import Mailboxes and choose Mail for Mac OS X as the data format, Mail looks for *.mbox folders only, but if Keep copies of messages for offline viewing was indeed set to All messages and their attachments when the backup of those mailboxes was made, you can easily overcome that limitation by just changing the suffix to .mbox:
    1. Copy the ~/Library/Mail/IMAP-username@mailserver account folder from the backup to the Desktop.
    2. Change the .imapmbox suffix of the folders within the account folder on the Desktop to .mbox.
    3. In Mail, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Mail for Mac OS X as the data format, and follow the instructions to import the copy of the account folder that’s on the Desktop.
