What is in Properties.apdb?

I think I have a drive going bad, the one with my Aperture library on it.  I am trying to copy the library from the drive to another and it stops on the file Database/Properties.apdb.  I have a vault and it has the same filename in it but the date&time on the file in the vault is one minute later than what my library has and it is smaller, 174MB versus 205MB.  I don't think I've done anything in Aperture since I last updated the vault but I'm not 100% positive.
Anyway, before I do anything my question is: what is the properties.apdb file? What is in it?

If you have backups thats really the way to go, I'm not sure from what you wrote why you wouldn't just do that.
I'm just trying to learn the boundaries of what I can/can't or should/should'nt do before proceeding, and what pain might be caused by my choice.
The problem with the backups is that I'm not sure that the file is okay in my most recent backups. When I try to manually copy the 205MB file, it quits at around 170MB which is about the size of the file in my recent backups.
I am considering deleting the file just to get it out of the way, to ensure it is gone before repairing/rebuilding the library so I can be sure the data in this corrupt file will not be used and Aperture won't try to read from or write to this bad file (and fail as a result).
Unfortunately I cannot keep a copy of it because it fails in the middle of the copy. I just want to be sure it is able to be regenerated and isn't the one-and-only copy of anything I've spent time adding to photos (keywords, captions, places, adjustments, etc.).  If it goes bad, I'll guess I'll back up from an older library or vault then re-import recent images.  I have spent all morning backing up the rest of the library.

    Hi,
    Go to business content and find 0material.There you can see its attributes etc.
    Why not a new one?
    SAP has provided some standard items and it is a good practice to use those instead of creating your own ,as it saves time and labour
    This does not make sense to create something which is already provided

    You can purchase music using multiple accounts within the same Windows profile & using the same iTunes library. I think when you log into the store it remembers the last account name used, but provided you don't let it remember your password then you have the opportunity to enter the correct details for each purchase.
    If you're going to place these purchases on your respective iPod's the following may help.
    *How to use multiple iPods with one computer*
    The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
    e.g.
    "Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
    "Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
    Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
    I currently manage our family's five iPods using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their iPod. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.

  • Data warehouse ETL - dropping all FK but what about extended properties? Do they need to be re-added

    So Im setting up a SSIS package to refill the DB, drop/re-add the keys etc and I notice that there are extended properties added in the definition of the keys added to the fact table.  Do these needed to be added back EXACTLY as they are defined (when
    viewing them in management studio via right-click > script key) ?
    Im thinking they do as they mention the DSV, so Im guessing that not adding them back might mess up the DSV?

    Lightning is a problem for you because it hooks into Thunderbird at a low level and you need a version compiled for the platform Thunderbird is running on. So you can't do the preferred solution, which is to put your whole profile in a shared folder and have both instances of Thunderbird reference the same profile. (Ditto for Enigmail). Lightning may become an integral part of Thunderbird in an upcoming release, at which point this limitation due to Lightning should disappear.
    And if you can't use a shared profile, you can't set your Lightning, or your Address Book, to share a common set of files. Put another way, the linkage from Thunderbird to its address book files and calendar data is hard-coded, and not exposed where we can adjust it. :-(
    The halfway house is to place your mail stores in a shared place, and use the Local Directory setting in each account's settings to connect to it. They don't need to be in the profile; what's more important in your case is that they are in a folder accessible to both operating systems.
    Look in your profile; everything under Mail and ImapMail needs to be moved out to a shared folder. Note the entries in Thunderbird under Local Directory before you do this, and reconstruct those pathnames in Thunderbird, but adjusted to suit their new locations.
    (You can see here that you need to make many adjustments, one per account, in each instance of Thunderbird, so it's a high-maintenance solution and this is why we don't recommend it when the alternative, moving the whole profile, is possible.)
    I share address books and calendars between Thunderbirds on various computers (and my phone and tablet) by syncing to something in the cloud; Google Contacts and Google Calendar are my choices, using gContactSync and CalDav.
    Having made the break myself some years ago, I'd recommend you break away from Windows. ;-)

  • Developing Extensions: what is "configArchive.properties" for?

    Hi,
    I developed my own Extension, based on the example given in the Extension-Developer-Guide ("SimpleExtension").
    My own Extension is working, but I'm not sure, what the files "configArchive.properties" and "SimpleExtension.prjconfig.configarchive" are used for.
    Obviously the later is specific for the Extension, but my Extension is running, even it has a different name ("ZRoomExtension") and I did not customize the two files.
    I tried to just delete them (ok, probably not the smartest idea...), but then my project would not deploy (even though I got no error message here).
    I did not find anything about these files in the Extension-Developer-Guide. Can anyone give me a clue what these files are used for?
    Thank You very much, rehards
    Jan Hempel

    Hi Jan,
    the configArchive.properties are used when a configArchive is deployed to determine on what things the configuration is dependent (I don't know the exact mechanism, but this shouldn't matter, as it is built by NWDS and there is no need to touch it afterwards).
    The configArchive itself is different. It reflects a configuration and instances of this configuration. You can open the file (it's a ZIP) - and you'll see the files zipped you'll also find under src.config.
    In the case of extensions, only an instance of an already configured configuration is defined. After deployment, you'll see the configuration instance under System Admin - System Config - KM - Coll - Extension - Extension.
    Hope it helps

  • What are BC4J properties used for? ( Properties )

    Hi, I've been looking into <properties> tag in BC4J. I'm looking after runtime validation of attributes.
    A definition I found was the following:
    Properties are name/value pairs of type string that you can use as metadata to drive runtime behavior.
    Is it possible to enforce business rules validation using properties? I'm not allowed to touch the entity attributes of my EOs, so I thought these properties could help me in some way.
    any related documentantion is also highly appreciated.
    thanks

    You can use properties for pretty much anything. I am using a property to define UI behaviour. For example, a certain set of fields should be displayed in a certain way. I have defined a property called UIHint with a value of TextAreaDisabled for these fields. In my client code (JSP page) I just the properties of each field, if it has a property called UIHint and it is set to TextAreaDisabled then I do some action on that.
    I set the property in the properties tab of the Entity Object. I retrieved it in the JSP page like this:
    //Inside an iterator called def
    thisIndex = def.getIndex();
    ViewObject myVO =dsShow.getRowSet().getViewObject();
    // get the property UIHint for this field (thisIndex)
    String thisProperty = (String)myVO.getAttributeDef(thisIndex).getProperty("UIHint"));
    if ("TextAreaDisabled".equalsIgnoreCase(thisProperty) { %>
    do some stuff here ...
    I don't have any text on the matter, I just figured this stuff out. Hope it gives you a good starting point!

  • In Object Properties dialog box, modify "tab path"...

    For FrameMaker versions up to and including 8 (and I suspect 9).
    Select a graphic, then click in sequence
    ESC g o to open the
    Object Properties dialog box. By default the dialog box opens with the insertion point in the
    Width text entry area.
    Now press TAB four times: The insertion point moves sequentially to the
    Height,
    Top,
    Left, and then
    Color text entry areas.
    I wish the last movement, to the
    Color text entry area, was replaced with movement to the
    Percent text entry area. This would enable me to use the keyboard to efficiently configure the size, position, and scaling of a graphic.
    As it is, I virtually never need to select the graphic's
    Color text entry area and the movement of the insertion point to that essentially useless tool drives me crazy: It makes me TAB all the way 'round the dialog box or grab the pointing device to get it to the
    Percent text entry area...
    Cheers,
    Riley

    Odd... What does your properties dialog look like? Can you post a screenshot of the dialog box? Also, what version of LabVIEW are you running?

  • What is the significance of Relationship Owner in JPA?

    Hi,
    We indicate the relationship owner through "mappedBy"?
    What is the benefit of the Relationship Owner?
    What are the properties?

    In 1-M relationships, one of the tables will have a foreign key pointing to the other table. That other table is the relationship owner.

    I would like to know what kinds of properties are stored in the default Toolkit (Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit()). I don't know how to list all of them. Toolkit class has a method getProperty(String key, String defaultValue), but without knowing a list of valid keys, this method is useless.

  • Sections in properties file

    In my file i have few sections and name=value pair.
    sectiona
    name1=value1
    name2=value2
    sectionb
    name3=value3
    name4=value4
    Can i do it in one properties class. In Properties.store i see you can write a header. So i guess header will be sectiona.
    Do i need to have one properties class for each section?

    Yes, just to disply it nicely.Then don't do this. The Properties.store() method will write your properties in a sequence that appears random. This is no problem for the Properties.load() method because it doesn't care what order the properties appear in. But if people care what order they appear in, then don't use Properties.store() to write the file.

  • Combo box properties

    I have a form with a combo box.  What I want the combo box to do is to allow the user to select a value from Table A Field A and put the value from Table A Field B into Table B Field A.  I have made various changes to the properties for the Combo
    box and have been unable to get the behavior I want.
    The setting below takes the TableAFieldA value selected and puts the value into TableBFieldA.
    What should the properties be set to select TableAFieldA, put TableAFieldB into TableBFieldA?
    Here is how my properties are set:
    gwboolean

    I'm not sure what happened, but there's nothing for us to see...
    However, you want to double-bind the ComboBox (that's probably not a real term).  Essentially there are two layers upon which you can apply databinding to the ComboBox.  The first is through the DataSource and ValueMember properties.  These
    would point to TableA and FieldB (the DisplayMember would point to FieldA).  Once that is set, you go to the top of the properties grid for the ComboBox and expand the (DataSources) node.  Then use the dropdown arrow next to the Value property to
    select TableB as the data source and FieldA as the data member.
    This binds the list contents of the ComboBox to TableA and the selected value to TableB.  I believe that is what you are asking for.

  • Templates properties grayed out

    Hi,
    Not quite sure if this is the proper newsgroup for this
    question, but I'm
    sure you'll tell me ;). Today I upgraded to Contribute CS3
    because a website
    i'm working on now will be maintained with it.
    In this website (which is currently only running under
    localhost), on most
    pages I have optional regions whioch should be set on/off
    through the
    template properties dialogue. However as soon as I try to
    edit one of these
    pages and want to edit the Template properties, the option is
    grayed out,
    and cannot be selected.
    I have compared the new optional regions code with earlie
    sites I created
    but cannot discover the difference. I also tried the same
    with Contribute 3
    (which I still have installed), and guess what: the template
    properties are
    avaliable. I've looked every place I can think of, but can;t
    find the cause,
    let alone the solution.
    Anyone who can shed light on this?
    Thanks.
    John

    I seem to have solved the problem by recreating the templates
    from scratch.
    Templates were created with Dreamweaver 8 , which I upgraded
    today also to
    CS3. So far backward compatibility ?!

  • Can i exclude apdb files from Backblaze backup?

    Beside TimeMachine i also use Backblaze as a cloud backup solution, it works perfectly so far.
    I have noticed that Backblaze correctly backups all Aperture data, even small changes in the APDB Databased are recognized and Backblaze immediately backups for example the Properties.apdb file. Well, my Properties.apdb is more the 600 Mb in size and i am wondering if it would be possible to exclude it from the backup. Do You have any idea if i will be able to restore all Aperture data and the Properties.apdb will then be reconstructed automatically?
    kind regards
    Michael

    I believe it is required, but as a test duplicate one of your libraries, delete the files you want to exclude from the backup and see if Aperture can recreate it.
    You'll most likely have to tun a library rebuild on the library for that to work  (if it does)
