what is in the 2.2.1 update...looked everywhere and cannot find anything on the issue

I have made repeated attempts to download the latest firmware by clicking on "Check for Update" when iPhone 3G connected. I continue to receive the message that my firmware is "up to date." Nor have I been able to figure out how to upgrade via option-click on "Check for Update" after downloading the firmware via an alternative route.
That said, it appears from various forums (e.g., MacWorld) that all sorts of folks are having problems with this latest build (5G78). So maybe I should just sit tight with my current build (5G77).

OS 5 updatee, I can get anything to do what it needs to do. I have added all of my apps to my computer file, even updated those that needed to be updated. When I finally get ready to up date to OS5 and hit the prompt, I am sent to a ;paid that tells me everything that will be updated, but there is nothing on theat page re uiring me to accept. So I close that page and hit download again, and I get to the page again. If I hit syns, I am syncing 1 out of 4, however it barely makes through the 1st backup, or sync---I'm not even sure what it is doing because sometimes it refers to sync, whi;le other times if refers to back up. Can someone help me? I've been working on this now for 2 solid weeks and it is very frustrating. ould I be signed in to my itunes account before I plug in my usb attaching my phone? Should my phone be ON and should I uno that It is completely on? I don't remember having to do this before. I am NOT using a MAC. I.m using Windows 7, just as I always have,.

If you're not being managed by another Mac that has ARD, then you don't need the client update. If you plan on managing other Macs with ARD then you need to buy the admin software.

They are both the same. But first I would make a backup to your computer before you click on that upgrade button. And, I would wait another day or two for the line to subside so you don't wait 10 hours for the download to complete.

Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
Your Mac must be able to run OSX 10.6.8. If you can run that OSX then you can run iTunes 11.1.

What does "can't easily send SMS" mean? What problems are you having with SMS? Without details, no one could possibly give you a reason or solutions.
Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears?

Sounds like a 'stuck' Shift key. You could try to take the key off and put it back on yourself (should be some info on that from ifixit) or just take it to your local Apple Store and have them fix it.

Why does iTunes SUCK??
1) Many items greyed out in the menu bar, for well over 2 years, maybe more!
2) I Can't drag more than one piece of content from your iTunes library to any device (iPhone, iPad)
If you do it gets stuck for HOURS and HOURS in "Preparing To Update" and the little activity circle never completes, ever!!
I used to be able to drag over 1000 tunes, movies, etc. go have breakfast come back and it would all be on my device!!
Can't do it anymore, one song at a time, maybe an album at a time, or one movie, and that is it!!
If you do a 2nd item the other items stop loading and never continue!!
This is so BAD, I don't understand how they don't have this fixed yet!!
Please tell me I am not the only one!!
...and If I am tell me how to fix it!

TS2972 I just updated all of our computers to itunes 11 and now when we try to use our home sharing, we can't import songs. What happened to the easily located "import song" feature? I wish now that I wouldn't have updated to the new itunes 11.

I recently updated all of the computers in the house to itunes 11. Now when we try to import songs from homesharing, we are unable to. What happened to the conveniently located "import song" button on the old version of itunes. Please help an old mother out please!

solved the issue today. first sync with itunes, so all the stiff you bought on the mobile will be backuped.
1. uncheck sync music in itunes and sync. all the music will be erased from mobile device
2. check music player on the mobile device. just the unwanted songs will still be there
3. go on the iphone to settings, general, usage, music player. there is just a few mb from the remaining unwanted songs. swipeleft and erase the content. switch iphone off and on again
4. repeat step 2. there will be no data. otherwise repeat step 3
5. check sync music in itunes and sync. all the music will be back again but not the unwanted songs.
