What is inbound delivery? (Business process description required)

Hallow Experts !
Can anybody please explain the business process for inbound delivery in brief? For what we process or configure inbound delivery?
For example –
we create purchase order for ordering the material from vendor.
We post Goods Receipt for purchase order or without reference to purchase order.
Like that what is the requirement or what is the prerequisite for the Inbound delivery?
Thanks in Advance !

  • Packing material in inbound delivery - intercompagny process with SPED

    Hi,
I am processing intercompany stock transfer using SPED functionality, with automatic creation of inbound delivery.
Using HUM and WM storage location managed, I would like to add automatic packing material items in inbound delivery.
    What I did already check:
    1. there is a plant in HU (packing material type in transaction VHAR; plant determination: B).
    2. there is an item category in HU (transaction 0184; following entry: EL / "blank" / PACK / / ELP -> Inbound delivery type EL,  packing material has general item category group "blank" , then I expect item cat ELP in inbound delivery).
With these settings, automatic creation of inbound delivery does not work anymore: output SPED failed. Error message is VN056:
"Processing log for program /SPE/STO_ID_PROCESSING routine STO_ID_CREATION". When I check output analysis, it is mentioned for SPED : "Output ignored (requirement 408 not fulfilled)".
I also tried with following setting:
transaction 0184; delete previous setting; add following entry: EL / VERP / PACK / / ELP -> Inbound delivery type EL,  packing material with general item category group VERP.
In that case, automatic inbound delivery creation OK but no packing material in it.
    Any idea to help me?
    Thanks in advance.

A few years ago I got some help that got some Inbound delivery functionality working, but it was never put into production.
    1. Receiving storage location specified on the STO.
    2. Receiving points set up in the receiving plant: IMG > Logistics Execution > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Shipping Point & Goods Receiving Point Determination > Assign Goods Receiving Points for Inbound Deliveries.
    3. On packaging material to be used the assigned packaging material group should coincide with the IMG setting of the packaging material type assigned to the packaging material group.
    4.  Assigned movement type 101 to the DIGN item category: IMG > Logistics Execution > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Deliveries > Define Item Categories for Deliveries
    Other settings but not mandatory
    1.  In delivery copying control assigned source NL to target DIG: IMG > Logistics Execution > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Deliveries > Copying Control > Specify Copy Control for Deliveries > Define Item Categories for Deliveries
    2.  Make packing control mandatory for item category DIGN: IMG > Logistics Execution > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Deliveries > Packing > Packing Control by Item Category
    3.  HUM Required for Plant/Storage Location: IMG > Logistics General > Handling Unit Mgmt > Basics >  Technical Basics > Materials Mgmt > Inventory Mgmt > HU Requirement for Storage Locations
In our process the HU was already created in the Outbound delivery for the STO.  These HU were then copied to the Inbound delivery.  It still works in our DEV client, but it's not being used.  Hope it helps.

  • Business Process Flow requiring multiple driving dimensions

    Hi All
Am facing a challenge where we have to design a BPF. I am using SAP BPC NW 10.
    I have the following dimensions:
    Projects (members as Project1, Project2, Project3, etc)
    LOB (members as LOB1, LOB2, LOB3, etc)
Each project can be against one or more LOB's against the LOB dimension.
The current planning process is two fold:
    Step 1
    1. The Level1 (PM1) user selects the Project (e.g. Project1) and then LOB (i.e. LOB1) that he belongs to, and inputs the numbers.
    2. Similarly another Level1 (PM2) user may select the same project and would input for another LOB (e.g. LOB2)
    3. The Level2 (PM3) user, reviews the data input for Project1 against LOB1 and LOB2 and approves/rejects/changes the numbers (as required).
    Step2
    1. Level2 (PM3) user also, selects the same project and inputs further data into LOB3 (like overhead costs)
    2. Level3 (PM4) user reviews the numbers at Project1 against ALL_LOBs (which is a parent roll up for LOB1, LOB2, and LOB3)

    * For each individual project, different LOB's may exist
    * Driving Dimension used is PROJECT
How can the above be achieved, since we only have one driving dimension allowed in the process.
I am not sure, if multiple driving dimensions are allowed (my understanding with BPC says only one driving dimension is allowed), and if more than 1 is allowed as driving dimension, then can we also filter it based upon the project and its applicable LOB's.
Please let me know if the above explanation is good enough or further details are required.
Any insights/alternative solutions are really appreciated.

    Hi Gustavo Bortoloti,
That's right, the SAP BPC version 5.x SP x not have the specific setting.

  • What business processes?

    Hi,
A general question. What business processes (like OTC - Order to Cach, P2P, R2R etc) would be assosiated with an ECC Implementation with FI, MM, WM, SD, HR and PM modules?
I am Technical person and is setting up Solution Manager for creating business scenarios and processes. I am going in the path of having it created on verticals of business processes. To propose, I would need to know what all kind of business processes would be involved in an implementation with FI,MM,SD,WM,PM and HR.
You can just tell me OTC, R2R, P2P and what all you know of which would be helpful for me. I dont see any link giving me the list of business processes available in SAP.
    Thanks!

    Karen,
These high level scenarios that you mention don't really have a fixed meaning.  Everyone who mentions them has a different idea on what should be included.
Check out this link, buried in the SAP Best Practices for Wholesale.  Their opinions as to which business scenarios should be included in some of the high level scenarios (such as OTC) are documented.  Once you get into the standard business scenarios supported by SAP, you can figure out the SAP ECC software modules..

  • Inbound Delivery without SUS

I am using SAP ECC 603 and SRM EBP 701 self-service procurement classic scenario. I am investigating changing the confirmation control key on the SAP vendor master to one requiring an inbound delivery. This change would be applied to all purchasing vendors, including those used by SRM. In the case were a vendor is not capable of sending an Advanced Shipment Notification, I would create the inbound delivery manually in transaction VL31N.
I am obviously unable to create the SRM confirmation (goods receipt) against the purchase order if no inbound delivery exists. Is there a way to create an inbound delivery in standard EBP classic scenario?
    Thank you in advance,
    Cliff

    Hi Cliff
Inbound delivery is a SAP ECC business object. There is no Inbound delivery Business object in SRM so we can not create a Inbound delivery in SRM .
    Requistion - SRM
    PO - ECC
Inbound delivery - ECC manual or by ASN if SUS connected ( if it has confirmation control key)
    confirmation - SRM / ECC

  • Business Process for Casting Iron industry

    Hi All,
We are going for a implementation for a casting iron industry... can you please let me know what will be the business process required for such industry.
    Thanking you all in advance
    Rgds
    Toshniwal

    Hi there,
The BUSINESS process should be determined and explained by the business - this is the purpose of the blueprint.
In the blueprint phase you will build-up an inventory of all the business processes from your client (AS-IS) you can then map them to SAP processes and these become the TO-BE processes.
As to perhaps SAP solution, your project manager should know what industry solution (if any) is being implemented.
I would imagine that for this industry you would implement FI, CO-PA, PP, MM and SD - at least.

  • Business Process Stages ?

    Dear Friends,
I am very new to SAP HR, but I took crash course in Germany and am actively looking for jobs as a sap hr functional consultant and my core interest is PM/OM/Benefits.
Please can tell me more about business process? Why it is required? What does mean by business process? How long it takes time to prepared business process and how many team members will be involved in gathering requirement. How many stages in business process?
Details response will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sameer.

    Hi Sameer
In a SAP HR project as BPX it would be very important to follow the steps of standard SAP ASAP methodology:
    1) Project preparation - (project scope and project planning)
    2) Business Blueprint - To be - functional business requirements analysis
    3) Application Blueprint - Technical requirements for developers - gap analysis
    4) Realization - Customizing and custom abap development
    5) Final preparation - Unit and user tests - transports and roll out in PRD
    Hope it helps
    Reward points if helpful

  • MM Inbound Delivery and tcodes.

    Hi gurus,
I am a abaper working in MM Module and came across this post  from bijay kumar:
The Inbound process comprises all the steps of an external procurement process that occur when the goods are received. The process is: Purchase order --> Goods Receipt, it is a follow-on activity to a purchase order. You can use VL31N transaction to create Inbound delivery & the process starts when the goods are staged at the vendoru2019s shipping point, and it ends when the ship-to party makes an acquisition posting for the goods. The goods receipt process for inbound deliveries is an essential part of the supply chain. This process includes the steps after creation of the purchase order: notification, the inbound delivery, subsequent putaway of goods, and the goods receipt posting of the ordered goods.
Can some explain to me help me with a pointer to some docs which explain P.O >> Inbound Delivery >> shipment notification/ create shipment >> goods receipt.. in detail.
    Best Regards,
    Navin Fernandes.

    Hi Gurus,

  • Business Process Analysis and Design

    hellow fellows
Please can u explain to me briefly what's involved in Business Process Analysis & Design
    Thanks
    Rasham

    Hello Rasham,
Business process analysis and design is a part of implementation / upgrade project. As name suggests it will analys client's business process to make the standard process across the group of company and make it most optimized to get maximum ERP support.
Some time it will cover under blueprint phase and some time it can be carried out as a saperate process before actual start of implementation.
The following link will give you detailed information about all phases of the project including Business Process Analysis and Design.

  • Job Pricing Business Process

    Hi Everyone,
My company has just implemented the job pricing tool, we are a bit uncertain on the actual business process for this tool, we have an idea on how the tool works but not 100% sure of the entire business process. May I please request assistance on the SAP business process for the Job Pricing tool based on the following scenario:
    - In a situation whereby an organisation want to participate on the salary survey for the first time, what is the SAP business process to follow.
Your assistance in this regard will be highly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Best regards
    Scelo

    Hello,
    SALARY SURVEYS,
Used to compare internal compensation data with external data.
Job pricing is a tool to create and maintain a list of survey providers ( one who gives the survey data of jobs)
The job pricing tool also allows you to perform job matching to match internal benchmark jobs with jobs contained in a salary survey, as well as age market data that has been imported from the salary survey providers by job or survey.
    SALARY SURVEY PROCESS STEPS.
    1. Job Analysis.
    2. Selection of survey provider
    3. Receive survey data
    4. Import Data
    5. Job Matching
    6. Age data
    7. weight data.
    cheers

  • PhD - Sustainable Business Process Design

    Hi,
Just read the two great threads on PhD's in the Business Intelligence - Faculty Club forum... but since my topic is more related to Business Network Transformation I thought it best to ask here.
My proposed PhD topic is all about understanding what elements of a business process design makes it more sustainable than an other design.
Clearly this is a highly interdisciplinary topic covering (at least):
    - Economics (efficiency / effectiveness)
    - General Systems Theory / Systems Dynamics
    - Industry Engineering / Work Design
    - Industry Ecology / Environmental Science
    - Public policy
    - and of course, enterprise Software
I'm working on a few leads already (Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia Canada and MIT for example)... but so far I've not found too many people doing research focused on Business Process Design.  Lots of people doing work on Business Process Management Systems (BPMS), lots of people doing work on the science and/or policy end of sustainability... but little on Business Process Design and Sustainability.
(Aside: I find this lack of research a bit odd given that in a business network / value chain ,  it is the design of the overall end-to-end process, crossing multiple organizations, which ultimately determine how sustainably the process's output are being produced)
Any thoughts / ideas in terms of academic's, journals, articles or institutions which are looking at the sustainability crisis through the business process / business network design lens would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Antony

    Hello Antony,
Your PhD topic sounds right on the button. I can only speak from local experience but around half of my members in the UK&I are starting to use Business Objects as a means to teaching students the concepts you describe in Business Processes - at one of our members for example we are working to support an Engineering Doctorate looking at the use of Business Intelligence in business processes using technology such as the iPad as a BPR analytical tool 'on the shop floor'. This would fall more under element (2) of your list. But you're right - each of the elements are crucial. My only advice would be that when you start out you go down a path which you find enjoyable and rewarding as this will enable to to stick to the PhD, and then also narrow the topic to a point where you can achieve the research in your lifetime. No joke - I've seen plenty of PhDs that wanted to map the world because of course everything is inter-related now. The trick is knowing where to draw the research boundary. I can certainly also point out some contacts at the like of Warwick and Cambridge Universities that have done BPR relating to health and aerospace but I'd suggest going with Jeff's suggestions first as he will almost certainly know people closer to you physically (not that that really matters anymore!)
All the best - and very best of luck!
