What is INFOPACKAGE in BW

Hi
Q: What is INFOPACKAGE in BIW ? & Why it is important?

HI
infopackage is the component which is used to load data from source system to PSA and we have to schedule it accordingly with the update modes
such as full update, init with out data transfer, delta update
How to create it
Highlight a source system in the InfoSource tree in the Administrator Workbench.
Choose Context menu (right mouse click) ® Create InfoPackage and enter any alphanumeric or numeric name for the InfoPackage.
Dialog box that follows will show you which source system you want to load data and to which InfoSource. You will see the DataSources that are assigned to the InfoSource to which data is to be loaded.
Select a DataSource for which you want to load data into BW.
If the InfoPackage is scheduled, data is loaded into BW from the DataSource selected here.
Now go through the procedure for the relevant system:

  • What is Infopackage Group

    Hi all,
What is Infopackage Groups and what are the settings in side
    thanks in advance
    regards

    Hi Chaudhary,
Infopackage group is used to scheduled the group of infopackages. You can just put infopackages in the infopackage group and give the time gap between each package and start the job.
Info Package groups perform the same function as an infopackage only thing is you can attach more than one infopackage in a infopackage group and prioritise your load schedules infopackage wise.
In RSA1 click on Infosources . you'll see a icon for infopackage grooups on the middle panel beside the search, legend icon, click on it then a right panel opens where you can see the list of infopackage groups.Right click on the top node and say create.
Drag and drop your infopackagesfrom the left pane in it and right click and say schedule.
It will open a window enabling you to prioritise your info package loads in the order you wnt.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is it possible to make a delta load for a Master data with Standard DS

I have a full load bringing huge data for master data with standard datasource.
I want to run a delta due to huge no. of records but when I create a new Infopackage it dont give a option for delta update.
Are delta loads specific to only standard or customized DS's or any other reason behind that ?

I kind of understand what you are asking about, but I am unclear as to how it pertains to our BO SDK.
You are wanting to find the differences between a large dataset and another large dataset.
I am not sure what an Infopackage is.
Are you using the BO Enterprise SDK or some other product?

  • Datasources transport

    Hi
i am transporting datasource from dev to quality. i have to manually replicate the ds in quality, rite.
what about infopackages from dev to quality. do i need to create infopackages in quality or do i need to transport from dev to qa
    Regards

    Hi Sanju,
    Regarding Replication of DS...........
    For R3 DS
1)Create DS in  R3 and Replicate in BW-Dev
    2)Transport it R3 Qualty
    3)Replicate in Bw-Quality
if it is LO datasource rthe Procdedure is Slightly Diff............
1)Goto LBWE or SMQ1 and clear the Queues
2)Clear Delta Queues in RSA7 and
3)then Transport the DS to Qualty.
4)Check whether the DS is iin active version in Quuality
    For FlatFIle DS
1)Transport it to BW-Dev to BW -Quality and Activate.--No dependecy of R3.
Creation of Infopaks ........As a Standard Procedure ,Create in Dev and Transport from Dev to Quality or Production.
Else u can create the INfopaks in Quality and Prodcution too.

  • What are the major differences b/w DTP & Infopackage

    HI Experts,
what are the  major benifits of DTP over Infopackages????  also what are the major differences b/w them ????
    Cheers
    Swaps

Since you are talking of DTP's, I assume you are working on BI 7
    In BI 7:
Infopackage- is used to pull data from the source system to the PSA. PSA is compulsory in BI 7. Beyond this infopackage doesn't play any role.
DTP: DTP's are used to transfer data from one data provider to another.
    it can be
    PSA - DSO/Cube
    Cube - CUbe
    DSO - Cube
DSO - DSO and so on
    Hope this helps

    Hi,
What is use of routine in Infopackage screen.
can anyone provide me a scenerio.
    Thanks,
    cheta.

    Yes they are very helpful...
I will explain you one scenario....
Because of certain irregularities in the system, I have to take a full upload everyday from 1st Apr 2007 to the current date...earlier I was extracting that data manually because I have to give the current date in the "TO" field....now my From date is 1st April 2007 and From Date is Sy-Datum...now this package is scheduled and I have removed the manual intervention.
    Hope this clears you.

  • How to create infopackage groups & Process chains & what is the difference

    Hi gurus,
please help me to create infopackage groups & Process chains & what is the difference.
    please explain any realtime scenerios.
when will we choose infopackage groups & process chains
and what is the difference betweeen these two.
    Thanks & Regards,
    BWcheta

    Cheta,
You can create the IPG with the selction of all infopackages in RSA1-Modelling Area to automate those loads automatically. That means it will trigger only those IP's which have been pooled up in that IGP...
Where as Process chain is also a automated process where you can have different process types which can be used during the load and after the load has been done.. For example in ODS once after the data has been loaded if you want to activate the data then in PC youo can insert the process type for that, but in case of IGP it will only execute your IP.
    Hope it helps...

  • Out of 4, if 1 InfoPackage is failed.. What do we do??

    Hello BW Experts,
If 1 IP is failed out of 4 IPs, what do we do to verify & Rectify it and make it working??
What do we do if in case we dont have any specific problem for the IP failure?? (how do we go now)
    Thanks & regards,
    Sapster.

    Hi,
The infopackage which loads either master/transactional data may get fail due to various reasons:
    Few of them are:
    1.SID Issue
2.Transfer rules or update rules inactive
    3.Datasource replication error
    4.Duplicate Records
    5.Short dumps
6.Job termination in the source system
    7.Alpha confirming value
    8.Time overlapping error
Please check SDN , Sap library and OSS notes  for more clarity on cause and solution to above problems .
Well, If any infopackage got failed , it can be identified in the monitor screen >>>details tab>> check at what stage it got failed
    1.Extraction (messages): .............
2.Transfer (IDocs and TRFC): (TRFC stuck)
3.Processing (data packet): at transfer rules/update rules
In the Infopackage,if Update mode is set to delta ,it is MANDATORY to set the QM status of the load to red and delete the requets from all the data targets.(for update mode:Full ,not needed),
Now ,rectify the error due to which the infopackage got failed...........
Repeat the Infopackage, check finally the correct load reached to the target and report availability symbol populated or not(for ODS ,after ODS activation the symbol pops up)
Check the following link for some inputs:

  • What is the Relationship between Update Rule and Infopackage/Transfer Rules

    Hello Experts,
can you help explain these scenarios to me:
What is the relationship between update rules and infopackges?
What is the relationship between transfer rules and infopackges?
What is the relationship between update rules and transfer rules?

    Hello,
Info-packages trigger the data load into BW system from the source system. An info-package is created for a specific data source and info source combination.
    1) When you trigger the info-package it sends an request to the source system to start the extraction process and this corresponds to the step "Data Request Received" in monitor under details tab. It is the first step.
    2) Then the selections specified in the info-package are transferred to the source system to select the requested data from BW system. Then it is sent back to BW system.
    3) Once it reach BW, it gets into the PSA and then it gets updated into the data target (depends on what settings are made in IP). No rules (Transfer rules / update rules) comes into picture when data is stored in PSA. Only the transfer structure is used to map the BW info-objects with the source system fields.
    4) After data is stored into PSA, the update into the data targets begins. First the transfer rules are applied -> data then flows through the communication structure -> update rules are applied and finally the records gets updated into the data target.
    The extraction flow is: -
Source System (DS) -> PSA -> Transfer Rules -> Communication Structure -> Update Rules -> Data target.
Info-package actually triggers the whole data flow in BW system.
Hope it gives you a clear picture.
    Thx,
    Soumya

  • Loading Infopackages one at a time (i.e. one by one)

    Dear All BI Experts,
We are implementing SCM5.1 with BI7.0
We load a cube in BI with daily forecast data from APO, but unfortunately we have spotted one of the dates is wrong, so the data in the cube has been summing up incorrectly.
That has now been fixed via the transformation, so what I want to do is reload the cube but with one Infopackage at a time (not all eight as are queued up now).
Does anyone know how to load packages one by one?
Any help will be greatfully received.
    Nigel Blanchard

    Hi Nigel Blanchard
There is an ancient solution i am sorry if my mind working as ancient guy. But let me share my though here
As i suggested Just run the DTP between Data source and Cube with Get request by request delta option with below process
Say suppose you have 18 requets in PSA
when you run the DTP first time its trying to fetch the records one by one till 18 th so you can manually red teh process and delete the unwanted requests and then change the transformations date related info and then again run the DTP this time it will try to fetch the request from 2-18 so after loading of second request break the load by changing the QM ststus of DTP if its not possible then go to the target cube mange from there stop the data load then reomev the requests which ever present other than 2 remove 3-18
and then again repeat the process
318   break the load delete the requests 418
    4--18   "            "             "      "
Repeat the process till all the requests got finished... and finally cross verify weather all the requests got loaded or not..
    Hope its clear a little..!
    Thanks

After that I can just use the 'Current Date' function to automatically fill in the correct date. So the sooner I do it the less manual intervention required!
    >
    > You are right about the DTP to delta the data into the cube request by request, but this does not provide me with the break between requests that I need to manually reset the date in the transformation. This option will run all of them one after the other without stopping. Is there no way I can just specifiy the request I want to load by request number or an option to simply load one request, so I get the break in between loads that I need?

  • BI 7.0 Urgent:  unable to locate an InfoPackage in any view

In BW 3.x, we can locate an InfoPackge which loads data from one ODS to another ODS in DM (Data Mart) view of InfoSource view.  But on BI7.0, in the DM (Data Mart) view, we can not locate this InfoPackage and we can only locate this InfoPackage in Process Chain.  Could someone let us know the trick on how to locate such InfoPackge in a view on BI 7.0?
    Thanks

    Hi Kevin,
I don't exactly understand what do you mean by view? But what I understand from your question is - you want to know if there is any place where we can find the infopackages without using the technical name?
If that is what you are looking for then you can drill down the related infoprovider data flow (which was the nice feature introduced by SAP in BI) and look for your infopackages. Just keep in mind that sometime you don't find the infopackages even you drill down through the infoprovider coz you need to check from which source system you are extracting data. In the infoprovider you need to change the source system and then drill down and see with the description.
    Hope this helps,
    Bye...
