  • Problem installing Oracle Internet Developer Suite 1.0.2.4.1 (Forms & Reports 6i)

    Hi all,
I am unable to install Oracle Internet Developer Suite 1.0.2.4.1 - specifically Forms & Reports 6i, Designer, Discoverer (ALL Products on Quick Install option on Windows 98 system). The installation proceeds to Install screen when the various files start to load ... Then the whole process stops after showing 100% load (sometimes the screen freezes, sometimes I get error message - illegal instruction etc) when the following file is being loaded :
    Extracting ... ewt_swingaccessbridge.jar
    I have another question :
I have Personal Oracle 8i (8.1.7) installed on D:\Oracle\Ora81 already.
During the install process (before I get the above error message) the 8.1.7 RSF-based product install location screen presents itself with the option to create a new Oracle Home and location (The preferred Oracle Home name iDSData and preferred Oracle Home Location D:\ORACLE\iDSData are already entered in the boxes) or Select an existing ORACLE_HOME. My existing ORACLE_HOME is
D:\Oracle\Ora81. What am I supposed to do at this point ? The installation guide is not explicit. Any help with these topics will be greatly appreciated.
I will be greatly obliged to anyone who can assist me with installing Forms & Reports 6i. Many thanks in advance.
    Sincerely,
    Partha Sur

Had the same problem too. It won't install in the same directory as your database. You need to create a new directory on your hard drive and have it installed there. Worked for me.

  • Internet developer Suite 11 or 9

    Hi
A simple question... I should buy a new Oracle Developer Suite ( I have the oldest version Developer 2000).
Us vendor speak about Internet Developer Suite 8i - 9
and new Internet Developer Suite 11.
Where is possible find information about IDS 11 ?
    Which are the different ?
    I don't find any information.....about the version 11...

    Marco,
The Current version is Oracle internet Developer Suite.
    (Forms6i,Reports6i, JDeveloper 3.2.3 etc...).
The Coming version (soon) is called Oracle9i Developer Suite an it will have Oracle9i JDeveloper, Oracle9i Reports, Oracle9i Forms etc...
(this version is still not out).
So for now you should buy oracle internet developer suite, if you buy support license you should get the upgrade for free.
You can download all the latest software from OTN.

  • Oracle Internet Developer Suite

I am trying to find out what the benefit(s) of purchasing this entire suite is compared to downloading the individual componenets (i.e. Forms Developer) for free from the Oracle website. Does anyone know?
    Thanks in advance.

In other words, you cannot really legally use it for anything useful other than evaluating and learning more about it. As soon as you start doing serious work you need a licence.

  • Internet Development Suite

Our Company just bought the IDS, anybody know how "deployment of Internet applications" works. Is there any versioning control in IDS.
    Regards,
    Samad

product licencesing does not depend on the use of product inside or outside the company.
If you are using the product for production purpose you need to license the product.
You can find the list of products included in iDS on ORACLE.COM or from the vendor whom you are intending to purchase from.

I wanna know what's the newest version of Oracle Developer Suite? I found only 10.1.2.0.2 which includes JDeveloper 10.1.2.1, but i need JDeveloper 10.1.3. Do i need to install sepparately the 10.1.3 version of JDeveloper?

Note that there is now JDeveloper11g.
What was the developer suite (the bundle of builders) is now part of the main FMW build.

  • What are the advantages of forms10g developer suite over forms 6i

    Hi All,
Am new to this Oracle Forms-10g developer, so I would like to know what are the new features of 10g over 6i. What are the main differences between oracle versions like forms-6i, forms-9i and forms-10g developer suite.
I even wanted to know what exactly is this OC4J Instance Start.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Chandra Sekhar.

is the most ignorant answer I've ever seen on this forum. That's quite a horrible distinction to possess here. Frank, it's clear you took my post as a personal insult for a product you've worked on in a major way. That was not my intent, and for that, I apologize. I hope you will take most of my other posts here so far (the overwhelming majority of which are to answer questions for others instead of seek help for myself) into consideration.
I stand corrected on overlooking the enhancements related to the interfaces with Java.
There are perhaps a number of viewpoints to Chandra's question. Our users, who are focused on using the applications to do their job-- well, having the forms environment moved from client-server to the web is almost irrelevant to them, and losing client-server was no advantage. I guess I looked at it too narrowly from a pure Forms programmer's point-of-view. One of the things you describe as a new feature-- the ability to see GIFs in the builder, well since I saw ICOs in the builder in 6i, I just don't see an advantage as much as a change/fix to make it work like before.
Since I never looked hard at 9i release (which I admitted), perhaps I am ignorant to some new features. I went to OTN and looked up the 9.0.2 documentation, and didn't see what these 20+ features might be. If you would point me to a specific document, I would sincerely appreciate it.

  • What internet security suites does Firefox work with completely?

My Kaspersky internet website blocker and advisor won't work with the new Firefox update. This is why I am not updating. What security internet suites does Firefox work completely with. This is a constant problem with Kaspersky which is one of the higher rated security suites available. I don't like paying for security that Firefox disables.

Toolbars and other applications bundled with anti-virus are usually not helpful in any way. I stay away from all toolbars simply because they are useless and offer no real protection other than annoying me.
If you <s>ever</s> have Kaspersky or any other anti-virus installed, you will be protected. Every antivirus protects your whole system, not just a certain program. You will be fine.
As for Firefox and Kasperky's toolbar not existing peacefully, that's a problem on Kaspersky's side. They need to keep up-to-date with Mozilla's roll out schedule. (Firefox 37 will be rolled out in 3 days). Contact Kaspersky for an update on their toolbar.

  • What is the right tools to migrate from developer suite 10g to 11g?

    Hi all..
Im kinda new here and hope pro can help me in the right direction. I've been developing forms and reports in 10g which is using the developer suite. My company would like to migrate to 11g. However, i see that there are no 11g developer suite. it must have rename it something else or provided to developer in a different name or so.
Could someone clarify this and give me a link to what i need to develop forms and reports in 11g. Im sure im going to need the weblogic as well.
I did find a post where user states that there is no more developer suite in 11g but i find his answer a bit unclear. So i was hoping someone can give a link to what i really need in order to continue with 11g.
    Thanks

In brief a migration from 10g to 11g is just a recompile, nothing more. There were some built-ins removed in 11g which were deprecated in 10g (like run_product for example) so if you have some dead code containing this built-ins you will get compile errors. But as those built-ins didn't do anything in 10g you should be able to remove them without a second thought.
As for developer suite: there is no developer suite anymore like there was in 10g; There is only one complete bundle containing the development as well as the deployment components, and you can choose at installation time which components you want to install. You can install the IDEs and omit some of the components you won't need in 11gR1 or install the development version in 11gR2.
You can find the install bundles here.
Before you start installing it is a good idea to review the certified system configurations.
    cheers

I am not quite sure what either of you are after, but if you hit the "Documentation" link on OTN you will find the documentation, such as the above list, for almost all of Oracle products. Most are available online in HTML format or PDF and some have a part number so that they can be ordered.
The 10g Developer Suite Documentation is here: http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/dev10g.html

  • Application Express Vs developer suite 10g

    Hello
I am a beginner and I am confused which application package I have to use to build
my application consisting of forms and reports.
Can someone please highlight the difference in applications created using
application express and developer suite 10g.Their advantages and which one is
preferred with oracle 11g database as backend and its support with OS windows vista.
Please help us.Since we are planning to upgrade our old software developed
    using oracle 8i and developer6.0
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for your suggestions.
Please suggest us once again how to proceed in our environment.
Actually we have developed an in-house erp package consisting
of different modules for production, finance, inventory .There
are many forms with many fields and customised reports and plenty of data entry.
As per your suggestion we can use Developer suite 10g by doing
one is to one migration with some modifications as required by developer suite
and moreover it is used only locally in intranet. This also needs a browser.
(this will be faster compared to APX since we have to redo all the forms
and reports from the beginning which will take time.).
Our doubt is, can we make our application (developed using developer suite)
web enabled later on without going for APX so that we can access our application
from customer or remote site through internet.
In that case what will be the requirement and how do we go about in making
    our application web enabled.
Thanks once again for your valuable suggestions.

It worked , but I needed to configure (TNSnames.cfg, create listener.cfg,sqlnet.cfg), I extremely recommend using windows XP or using XP mode(I haven't try XP mode but it's most likley to work).

  • Difference between Oracle developer suite 9i and 6i

    Hi -
Can I know what's the release difference between oracle developer suite 9i and 6i , and what's new in oracle discoverer 9i in compare with last version , we have discoverer version of 4.1...
I could not able to get from metalink anything like new features in 9i deve;oper suite.
Existing oracle financial application 11.5.8 have their forms and reports in 6i version.
What impact will have if changed with new version of application 11.5.10 in future .

Oracle Developer Suite 9i is now called Oracle 9iDS. Oracle also sells Oracle 9iAS. You need to license iAS in order to run application created using iDS.
9i is fully J2EE compliant. It offers improved integration between components. Its much more feature rich than 6i. See:

    for more information.
what's new in oracle discoverer 9i in compare with last versionThis question is best asked in Discoverer Forum.
What impact will have if changed with new version of application 11.5.10 in future Reports offers backward compatibility between 6i and 9i reports with a few exceptions. See Oracle Reports Obsolescence plan on OTN:
