What is involved in erasing HD?

I was thinking of either getting a new computer or just eras ing my 80 HD and installing a newer version of OSX - right now have 10.2.8 - Used primarily for music and surfing the internet, what needs to be saved before an erase? Music library and some photo files for eBay and such I know. Anything else that I'm forgetting? I figure most of the stuff can just be reinstalled if I need it. However, if the hard drive may be going out will erasing and starting over solve anything or would a new hard drive be in order?

Hello! You should consider several things including whether your apps will work with Panther or Tiger depending on which route you choose as well as having YOUR documents, picts and music backed up. Then you will want to make sure your computer meets all the hardware specs required especially ram. 512 megs is the minimum and 1 gig or more is preferred. HERE is the Panther requirements and HERE is where you'll find them for Tiger. Tom

  • What is involved in removing an image from a PDF document and inserting a new one?

Our form producing process is very typical:
    (1) Start with a TIFF image, create a fresh PDF document.
    (2) By adding items such as links and interactive fields, convert the read-only document into an interactive form.
Step (2) may take a lot of work, but fortunately when modifications are needed, it is always possible to edit the individual items. No need to redo the whole form from scratch.
There are some cases, however, in which we have invested a substantial amount of work in Step (2), but we need to modify the underlying image, removing it and replacing it with a new one. We obviously don't want to destroy all the work done in (2).
I envision the procedure as taking a rug from underneath a person and putting a new one.
What is involved in doing that? Can that be done at the JavaScript level? Are there commercial packages that can do that? Is the Acrobart SDK required?

You did not ruin the phone, you will need a sim card to activate the phone and then connect the phone to itunes and do a restore from back up.

Go to the airport utility and erase the TC disk.. a quick erase is fine and takes less than 1min usually.
A one pass erase takes several hours depending on how big the hard disk is.. but is somewhat safer in that it tests the drive condition. I normally don't bother for a TM backup.
When you start over you should be able to fit both backups on the TC.. assuming the disk is 2x larger at least than the space used on both the MB and the iMac.
If not you can also add a USB drive to the TC, and use that for one of the computers.
The slowest one is best.. as USB is slow.. but fast enough for wireless you won't notice much.

I have been an Adobe customer since 1991 on an old IICi.  A while ago I purchased Creative suite 4.  I have Adobe Acrobat 4, ver. 9.5.5.  Are there any updates I can apply?  What is involved in updating if I want to avoid the cloud?  I have a satellite connection that charges for bandwidth usage.  I have a 27" iMac, using 10.10.3.

    Hi Kenneth ,
We are sorry but you would not be able to update from Creative Suite 4 .The reason being there are no updates available for Acrobat version 9 .It is quite an older version so you are unfortunately not eligible for any updates or upgrade .
The best option for you would be to opt for Acrobat DC .
You could either for Acrobat DC subscription or perpetual version .Here is the link to download the same .

You could also opt for Acrobat DC Creative Cloud subscription

I was trying to create a playlist to add to a second ipod I have and save my library of my other ipod and hopefully transfer between the two or organize additional playlist between the two.  What I did was erase both and and back at point zero. lost everything.  Tried to follow directions but I'm too stupid. Used the 'New play list" wrong i think and I know where original files are but no directions as to get it back.  Its supposed to be a simple function of ipod bet not so!

An iTunes playlist can only contain songs that are in the same iTunes library as the playlist.  There is neither a manual nor a scripted way to create an iTunes playlist that contains songs that are not in the library.
So, to do what you want, you would need to create a single consolidated library with all the music, and then create playlists off of that.  Since your current drive is "chock a block full," the best way to do this will be to spend $50-$100 and get an external hard drive for iTunes.

  • What's involved in converting JPanel to JScrollPane?

I've build my app and now I realised that I need scrolling functionality on my JPanel. What's involved in converting JPanel to JScrollPane ? Is this what I need to do or is there another way to do it ? I found couple of examples of JScrollPane on sun site but for some reason they don't work...

no none of these works for me ... maybe I have something wrong in my code ?
    this is my code:

  • Going wireless . . . what's involved?

I need some help understanding what's involved. My iMac G5 needs a wireless card installed. Should I go with an Airport base (?) or can I get by with a cheaper, non-Apple product? I don't plan on streaming iTunes throughout the house . . . at least not now . . . and I don't think I'll miss wireless printing. Plus, the budget it tight. Care to weigh in?
Next, I presently have DSL installed. An [I think] ethernet cable goes from my G5 to the box with lights on it that gets plugged into the phone jack. What--if any-part of that goes away if I go wireless--other than the ethernet cable?

An answer sure would have been nice . . .

  • What's involved with upgrading to Final Cut Express HD?

I was just wondering what is involved with upgrading to High Definition. My current computer is a PowerBook G4 and I did not know if this would support the HD. What percentage of users are still using the regular and what percent have upgraded to HD.
I figured that when I buy a new Mac I would upgrade the HD, but until that point I'd stick with the regular resolution. I would need to buy a new HD video camera too.
    Thanks for any thoughts!

    Hi(Bonjour)!
FCE HD (3.0 and 3.5) is not only for HD editing, it's the new name for Final Cut Express since version 3.0, and you can edit in HDV or SD with the same product.
HDV is pretty demanding on computer power, RAM and storage.
Altough a G4 1,0 GHz meets the minimun requirements to do HDV, pay attention to video card itself. See spec section for FCE HD:
"Macintosh computer with 500MHz or faster PowerPC G4 or G5 (550MHz for PowerBook G4) or Intel Core Duo
    512MB RAM
Display with 1024-by-768 (or higher) resolution
An AGP or PCI Express graphics card compatible with Quartz Extreme or an Intel GMA integrated graphics processor in MacBook or Mac mini
Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later
    QuickTime 7.0.4 or later
HDV features require 1GHz or faster processor and 1GB of RAM (2GB recommended)
500MB disk space required for applications; additional 16GB of additional storage space for Soundtrack and LiveType content (can be installed on separate disks)
    DVD drive for software installation"
A big monitor is also a good idea (kind of one to one pixel at displaying video:the 23" Apple cinema HD display 1920 X 1200 pixels or greater).
Think about an external hard drive to store your captured media.
In the camcorders line-up, it's better to choose a tape recording based one (no hard disk, nor DVD nor media card recorder), because FCE HD allows capture directly from a such camcorder (altough it's possible to download from other sources and convert your material to something that FCE can handles without rendering. A 3 CDD one is better (I own the fabulous FX-1). Many HDV camcorders allows down conversion directly from capturing process: so we can edit in SD format with the same material.
Currently, HDV can be edited on FCE HD, but you will have to print to tape your edited HDV content to keep it in HDV format. You cannot burn HDV or blue-ray DVD ( aka high definition DVD) from iDVD 6 and watch it on a HD TV set.
There are some HD DVD burners around the corner ($$$ to buy and blank DVDs are not cheap) but the choice of software is very limited.
HDV is simply ashtoning to watch on HD tv set and it's the future.
I think you can count on an instant 200$ rebate if you buy a new mac and FCE HD on apple store:
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=37C 4CB71&nclm=Moviedeal
    Good luck.

  • HT201274 What data would be erased if I erase all the content and setting? Is the Apple ID erased as well?

What data would be erased if I erase all the content and setting? Is the Apple ID erased as well?

Everything would be erased. Hence the word "all" in "all content and settings"

  • What happens if i erase all content and settings?

I want to restore my iphone again on itunes, what happens of i erase all content and settings?

Erasing all content and settings will set your iPhone up just as if you took it out of the box software-wise.  It will go into setup mode - ask you for a WiFi network to join, ask for your Apple ID, set up the telephone, and then ask if you would like to set up as new or restore from a backup.

  • What is involved in conversion from 8i and 9i or in general .....

    Hi,
I would like to know what is the process involved in conversion from 8i and 9i or in general from one version to another, especially for the role of technical consultant..
Any documents or related references that explain the steps to do a successful conversion from a technical applications developers perspective would be great.
    Thanks in advance..

The counter question would be that how you gonna do migration?
The other important point would be performance. There are many changes in optimizer behaviour comparetivly to 9i optimizer. metalink has so many references and notes on the same. Searching at metalink would be a good point as well.

  • What happened to my eraser tool? PS CS4

Suddenly the eraser tool doesn't work any more on settings layers. If I want to erase partly a curves layer, nothing happens. If I want to erase a part selection setting layer, the eraser adds instead of erasing. Otherwise it works normally on pixels layers. I restarted the computer but nothing changed. The erase history box is unchecked.
Did I activate some function that I am not aware of? Or is this a bug and should I reinstall?

    >Are you erasing to black, white, transparent?  Depending on what you are erasing it is easy to flip the colours accidentally and it will look like eraser is not working...
That was it! I was erasing to white. Strange that I had never come by this before in 12 years of Photoshop use!
    >When I paint on Layer Masks I usually just reset back- and foreground-color (D) if necessary, use the Brush Tool and switch the two colors (X) as needed.
I will try that technique, it should help fine tuning. Thanks!
Thanks a lot for getting me out of this!

  • What happens when I erase all content and settings?

I gave my son my iPhone 4.  We just put his sim card in and it started working and  I told him to change the apple id to his.  However, this morning, he said that he still gets my iMessages.  So we did an erase all content and settings.  Now the phone doesn't work.  What do we do?

When you erase all contents and settings - it wipes the phone clean.
If your son gets your imessage, on his phone go to settings - message - send&receive - uncheck or remove your apple id.
