Hi,
I'm doing an essay for school on the iphone and i was wondering if anyone new what it was made of? If someone had an article or a sourced bit of info on it's materials that would be great. I'm Australia and the iphone hasn't been released yet, and i don't have time this weekend to go play with a iPod touch in a store to try and guess what it could be.

The iPhone has an awful lot of components in it, but I guess from your post that you're interested in the case?
The case is made out of zirconia, which is a good material for any small device that needs to transmit radio frequency signals, like cell phones, in that it is strong enough to protect the internal components but wireless signals can still easily pass through, according to Apple's patent filing.
Zirconia is also used to make fake diamonds and costume jewelry, the likes of which can be seen on any television shopping channel in seemingly endless rotation.
Zirconia has many advantages over other materials, such as aluminum, in that it is structurally strong, stiff and radio transparent.
“This is especially important for wireless hand held devices that include antennas internal to the enclosure,” Apple revealed in the Patent application. “Radio transparency allows the wireless signals to pass through the enclosure and in some cases enhances these transmissions.”
Other reasons for using ceramics cited in the filing are that they are highly scratch resistant, can be embedded with a wide variety of colors (no paint or coatings), and provide a variety of surface finishes including smooth and rough.
The lower part of the iPhone is actually plastic, as that is where the antennas are.

i was in the pre-release program for encore, and all these updates are great.... but my beef for CS6 is still the blasted blu-ray format. adobe REALLY needs to set up a brand new app from the ground up just for blu-ray, or have a different version of encore just for blu-ray. (i would love to see cs7 with full Java capabilities!) kick the sonic author-core to the curb if that's the problem. i could come up with some pretty complex menus mentally, but it doesnt matter cause i could never actually pull them off when theres that 2 second track gap from asset to assett. its just maddening that i can't do a simple trasitional sequence with dup menus for blu-rays. works flawlessly for DVD though? but not for blu-ray. is that a BD Spec issue that hollywood bypasses by using java? or is it just how encore itself handles the BD table of contents?
other than that, the only features that really stood out to me were the chapter play-list, DTS-MA, and background processing for HUGE assetts for encore. (no more status bar locking up the app for an hour while you import a single 40gb Blu-Ray timeline. TRULY revolutionary!)

Sometimes it takes a little time for the Library thumbnails to be updated with the changes from the Develop module. If you flip back to the Develop module and the changes are still listed in the history tab, I would just give the Library module a little more time to update.
While waiting, you could export one or two images just to make sure the edits are properly recorded.

What happen to " Made 4 Mac?"

Sorry, I don't know where else to post a question like this. I see that the Apple website has been upgraded a bit, but I don't see the smaller menu bar, that used to list the "Made 4 Mac" page that listed 3rd party software and hardware. Maybe they don't want to maintain it, but it seems to have disappeared, with nothing showing up on a search. The downloads page doesn't seem to be quite as complete as the "Made 4 Mac", which typically had anything and everything in 3rd party listed, even stuff that hadn't been developed for awhile.
Anyone know what happened to it, or whether or not Apple has some way of notifying the public about this kind of discontinuation of a service when it happens? Thanks.

Thanks, guys. I did try a few searches, but nothing would show. Wouldn't you agree this should be a useful page that should be easily accessed? Some pages show the "old" submenu, while others have the new, cleaner look. Haven't taken a look at the mac.com page yet, I imagine there is some tweaking to be done.
After owning over 35 Macs for work and home over a 20 year period, I am still in love with the technology but am now loathe to be the first to go 'Beta' or even upgrade the OS for the first 6 months. There are always headaches, I suppose it goes with the territory.

HT204408 My applications folder has a black question mark on it at the bottom of my screen. I do not know what error I made, but my fan effect of the previous applications has gone away. Can I get some help with this?

One day ago I inadvertantly removed my applications folder. In it's place is a folder with a black question mark which appeared after I attempted to open up the applications file. Also, previously when I clicked on the file applications would open in a fan display. Could I please get some assistance with this?

If you trashed it and emptied the trash, what backup, if any, do you have? If it's still in the Trash, move it back.
If no backup, reinstall Snow, which will give you the version as of the DVD you use, then update back to 10.6.8, and run all other needed updates, including any security updates. This should save all your third party programs, as well as settings.
The white puff of smoke is nothing, it only means you moved it out of the Dock. If you still have it, or had it, as soon as you open it it would reappear in the Dock. The item in the Dock is only a kind of alias.

The charged amount and date/time of the charge do not ring any bells with me and I don't have kiddos that would be charging downloads or whatever. How do I find out what the charges were actually for? I've tried to figure it out in the iTunes store, but not having much luck. I'm new to this iPhone 'thing". Please help.

What is this "Download folder" for ?

A very strange affair : on my brand new Mac Book pro Retina (256 GB SSD witch is not very big indeed) I noticed an entire TV show in this folder !
I never downloaded it (I had it with Elgato Software in a Direct TV download, what so ever…). So there was no reason it was here.
It is very strange because it was located this download folder after the migration from my previous Mac (nothing was in my SSD before, so I PRESUME that the migration has put these files here.
Must be a bug, don't you think?
I deleted it to make room in my SSD, I hope I did not do a wrong stuff ! (does not seem so).

What is Dreamwaver made of....? How was it programmed...?

Just wondering how Dreamweaver was developed..? What language was used?
I know nothing of software programming but was wondering does dw actually contain any css or javascript etc to work, not what it can do if that makes sense...?

Qosmio X70-A - What changes are made in BIOS 1.4

Someone installed new version ?
What changes introduced ?

Rolf, BIOS 1.4 was advertised on the website once before.
The last time the installer kept saying that it wasn't meant for my notebook.
I insisted, asked my local Toshiba call center for support (helpful they were not - "Sounds like an important hardware problem. You should bring it in a service center. Minimum 3 days time to solve"
so I ended up sending e-mails which were, in the end, answered by the EU support staff by saying the update was in fact not meant for my X70-A and they had withdrawn it from the site.
You would expect them not to make the same mistake twice, right? Well, it appears they did. I get the same error as before. I checked the timestamps on the files and nothing seems to have changed since the last BIOS update fiasco. So, my advice, don't get your hopes up.
P.S. I've also seen multiple drivers marked as recent - as in post-20 January - but the display driver file is marked "20131008"... download keeps interrupting so I think these drivers will be, mostly, duds again. Oh, well, I guess I'l complete another complaint form... :)
