What is iTunes Match error 4010?

I did a "OPTION+CLICK" on iTunes and created a blank library...
Enabled iTunes Match and it's still stuck on 1st step of iTunes Match procedure.
It errors out with this:
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (4010)."?
What is wrong?

You may be using the wrong ID.  The ID you use with iTunes match should be your store ID, the one you built your iTunes library with.  Thus if your store ID is different than your iCloud ID you should use your store ID for iTunes match and not your iCloud ID for iTunes match.  In order to get your iTunes store ID assigned to iTunes match you must be logged into iTunes under your store ID when you buy iTunes match.
I have a situation where I have two IDs, one for iCloud and one for store.  My iCloud ID came from my old Mobile Me account, which was not the same as my store ID.  This arrangement works fine, though, because there are two different places to input IDs into your IOS5 devices.  Put your iCloud ID in the iCloud section and put the store and iTunes match ID in the store location.
Its confusing to people because you use your iTunes store ID for itunes match even though the music is stored in iCloud.  Some may naturally think you use the iCloud ID for iTunes match but that is only true for people that only use one ID for everything.

  • ITunes Match error 4010 remaining library will not upload

    After setting up iTunes Match for the first time much of my 20k track library was successfully uploaded to iCloud. Toward the end of the syncing process with approximately 2000 tracks left to upload I received the following error:
    "We could not complete your iTunes Store Request. An unknown error occurred (4010). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."
    Since, my library has not been able to upload the remaining tracks, and all of the four Macs that I am attempting to sync with Match now receive the error each time they attempt to sync which is usually when I start iTunes. This issue has been occurring for the last 3 days now until this morning in which a completely new complication has arisen. Now when I view my library at work (I can not confirm if this issue is occurring on my other Macs at the moment) All of my tracks have the status of either Waiting or Not Eligible. The playlists that I created to track the status of iCloud are empty except for the one that looks for all other statuses other than the primary four that are available to build playlists with. All 18,323 tracks that were able to upload initially before the error started happening are in this playlist now but are no longer showing as Matched or Uploaded, just Waiting or Not Eligible.
    I've refrained from turning on iTunes Match on any of my iOS devices until this issue is resolved.

    I had this error a few days ago - after about an hour, it "fixed itself".  I believe that their server end is either overloaded at times, or they are doing maintenance of some kind and are not informing us.  Best guess, here.   
    I would suggest trying again in an hour or two - if it continues, give them a call just to log the problem.    I plan to call them every single time its down because, if I need to esclate at some point, I want them to see the whole history of the problems I've had.

    Hello - it has been several days now and iTunes Match continues to fail with error 4010. I have attempted all the tricks mentioned on various threads: control+J, add to iCloud a single song, etc.; yet to no avail any other tips/hints?
    As always, appreciate support from the community. I am sure the entire community facing these issue would really appreciate a formal answer/solution from Apple (even if it is - please unsubscribe :-(

    Me too.  Ripped a new cd then when imatch started this error 4010 kept popping up.  It has been two days now and no luck.   Bummer!

    I am no computer genius but I have been having this error code for last week or so. I think it may be related to duplicate tracks in the library - I am manually going through my library and deleting duplicates. I am also control clicking to add the tracks to the cloud and now can see them on all my devices......

    What is iTunes Match and how does it work? I have several tunes on my computer that do not show complete. The source of these tunes are from my own CDs.

    Basically it looks at the music you have in iTunes.  If it sees the equivalent on the iTunes Store site it does nothing, but it makes that copy accessible to you to download.  If you have music  it doesn't it will upload a version from your computer to the site that only you can access from anywhere online.
    In your case if you have incomplete tracks it will not fix them.  It does some kind of audio fingerprinting to make sure you aren't just feeding it a bunch of 60s demonstration cuts and trying to get whole tracks back.

On my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S one cloud shows up for a whole album to tap and download a whole album but the ones next to the songs are no longer there. No songs will delete from my phone once downloaded from the cloud by sliding my finger to the left over the song and tapping delete. Instead it just plays the song when I try to delete it. To delete my music from my device I have to go in to settings and delete all the music. This worked fine for the first week and then one day the cloud status next to each undownloaded song disappeared and started doing this.

    I am trying to update my iTunes Match, and iTunes on my Macbook Air keeps coming back with an error and stating that "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (4010).  There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."  I try again later, and it still has the same code.  I have turned of iTunes Match on all my devices and then turned it back on, on just my computer to complete the download and it still will not work.  Same error code every time.  Someone help. Do I need to delete iTunes and iTunes Match and start from scratch?

    Every time my computer tries to sync with iTunes Match, I get:
    We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unkown error occurred (-3231).
    There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later.
    I called Apple about this a few months ago and within 24 hours an update was available which appeared tohave resolve the problem. However, it's back again and all of my computers do this.
    I did a Google search and it seems nobody else gets this error because I couldn't find any results with that exact number. Lots of other ones, but not this one.
    I don't have tha patience to go through another round of troubleshooting with Apple, and having someone in support not understand what I'm talking about so I figured I'd post here. Maybe someone else who has had this problem can post a solution.

    Your profile indicates you are running Leopard (OS X 10.5.7), which is now at least four years old.  Is this correct?
    If so, I'm surprised you can even run a version of iTunes that supports iTunes Match.
    If it's not correct, please tell us the version of OS X and iTunes that you are using.

  • ITunes Match error - confused

    Hi folks
    Just subscribed to this new service (in the UK) and it's frustrating me. I eventually got it to finish its initial process (had to stop & start a few times as it seemed to hang during uploading) but I have a lot of files (3,852 out of 24,934 items) showing 'error' and 94 files showing 'waiting' in the iCloud Status. I've tried re-uploading them using the context menu but it continues to say 'error' with no further description.
    To make it worse, these files are now missing from my iPhone library - I turned on iTunes match (on the iPhone) before I reaslised half the files had errors, but having turned it off again and re-synced, the files are still missing from the iPhone. By missing, I mean that the tracklisting for an album shows the track, but it is dimmed out and cannot be played.
    Most of these error files are on normal mainstream albums, where 9 out of 10 tracks are uploaded but one shows an error.
    What are the possible reasons for the error, and how do I get my music back on my iPhone?

    There was another user here with a similar problem a few days ago - are ALL your "uploaded" files failing?  If so, then you might have a pattern. 
    I had suggested to them to confim that their ISP or your local router isn't blocking uploads, for some reason - I would suggest the same thing here.  Start with a non-iTunes upload like dropbox or megaupload, just to ensure that those work.  Then move onto iTM testing - not thousands of files, I would just create a new library and test one or two of those failed files - there has to be a reason for it.   Also if you are a Windows user you might want to turn off all anti-virus and firewall products, just as a test temporarily, to see if the uploads start working. 
    Lastly, make sure that the files themselves are compaitble with iTM - for example, I know that Vorbis files cannot be uploaded.  Probably not a likely problem here, but I don't know your setup so you want to eliminate that as a factor.
