What is iTunesMiniplayer.Resources

ITunesMiniplayer.Resources is the error message I get when I try to download the latest version of iTunes.  I have already uninstalled iTunes from my PC.  The download appears to be working fine but then it stops and gives me this message and when I click Finish it ends the download.

Hi James1940,
The article linked below details a number of troubleshooting steps that can help get iTunes successfully updated.

  • External hard drive and errors - 'iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources'

    Hi there,
I've got my music installed on an external hard drive. When I got a new iPod for Christmas, and had to start using another computer, I put all of my music onto this external hard drive. When I installed the program, I also installed it on the external hard drive. I'm thinking this may have been one of the reasons, but I'm not sure.
Here's an error message I've been getting from the beginning-
'iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources' is not a valid short file name
    Fatal error during installation
It's also told me I should reinstall, but I've tried, and with no success. I'm running off of WINDOWS XP. I've also tried to repair via the program install AND in the control panel, with no success. Tried to uninstall via the control panel, again, no success.
My external drive is labeled E, but I didn't choose that, it's kinda how it comes up automatically.
BNoir, or one of the magical geniuses out there in iTunes land, can you give me some tips? I have a hard enough time opening it regularly, but today I tried to add music that I have on CD, and it won't even recognize it.
Another error message comes up about reinstalling iTunes so that it can get CD information from the internet.
    Cheers, and thanks,
    ~ Josette ~

Solved the problem. My external HD is a WD (My Book Studio). I needed to install updated driver manager and this fixed it:

If you have a WD external HD goto the above link and search for your model and a list of updates will be shown, Yay!!

  • 'iTunesMiniplayer.Resources' is not a valid short file name

    -deep inhale-
up until about a month ago i'd used my ipod as a hard drive so i could have iTunes wherever i went. i installed it using my brother's PoS computer (i dunno the specs but it's running windows XP)and it was assigned to drive (F:)
as soon as i got my netbook i saw no need to keep the program installed on the ipod so i deleted it. now he has an ipod and wants to eliminate cds from his life, but there's one problem: the computer still says itunes is installed at (F:) and will not uninstall or repair. about 4 minutes into the 'installation', an error window pops up saying "'iTunesMiniplayer.Resources' is not a valid short file name."
six attempts later the installer pops up and asks where to install. as i go to change the location from (E:) another error window tells me that "'(E:)' is not a valid destination. Please choose a new destination." Clicking ok causes the installer to finish and it too warns me of a 'fatal error during installation' and to try again later. i've been stuck at this point for half an hour.
how do i avoid buying an external disk drive for my netbook to upload his music onto his ipod?

See if the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will get rid of itunes.
    Then try the install again.

  • ITunesMiniPlayer.Resources error

When I try to open iTunes I get the following error: "iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources is not a valid short file name" I downloaded 7.3 onto my WD passport drive (where I kept my old version of iTunes) and it worked fine after the download, but the first time I tried to open after the download, I got the error message.

Has the *Drive Letter* of that WD passport drive changed since the time you did the install? (Having the drive letter shift out from beneath the program files can confuse the registry horribly and produce that message.)

  • ITunesMiniPlayer.Resources\da.lproj & error 2330

Hi there, I'm hoping someone out there can help. I've been browsing the forum for an hour and a half now and have not come across a solution for my problem.
I had succesfully downloaded the new version of iTunes but now it will not open on my laptop. I tried downloading again and choosing the repair option but that gives me a lot of crap and then an error message and leaves me in the same situation. Uninstalling is not an option, I get errors claiming missing files are preventing iTunes from being uninstalled. :/
When trying to open iTunes, I get this series of pop-ups:
Please wait while Windows configures iTunes.
---> An error occured while attempting to create the directory: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources\da.lproj
    -----> Retry? Cancel?
-----> Retry does nothing. Cancel gives me an error 2330 message. :/
I HAVE tried chkdsk already, are there any other suggestions?

An error occured while attempting to create the directory: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources\da.lproj
Are you able to rename the da.lproj folder da.lprogOLD, Coff? If so, try launching iTunes again. Does the repair install go through properly (without the error) then?
If you get the error again, try moving up one level and renaming the iTunesMiniPlayer.resources folder iTunesMiniPlayer.resourcesOLD. Launch iTunes again. Does the repair install go through properly then?
(The file damage is causing the repair install to fail to swap out the damaged files. If we rename the directory, the repair install will just put a new directory in, rather than trying to replace any files. So fingers crossed it won't get hung up on the damage and will go through properly.)

  • What are DE resources?

ERR DE-421452038: Error initializing DE. Checking DE resources is recommended.
ERR REP-0002: Unable to retrieve a string from the Report Builder message file.
I am seeing the following error when running a batch of reports. Basically this report is being run as a batch job and simply being called over and over again. This error seems to pop up at random times, this latest time, right in the middle of a run (about half of the reports ran, then the other half all had this error). Without making any changes, I successfully ran all of the ones that failed just by calling them again. Does anyone have any insight on this mysterious ERR DE-421452038 message and what a DE resource might be? I've found the text "Error initializing DE. Checking DE resources is recommended" under a different error message: REP-3400 ( see link http://gwynne.cs.ualberta.ca/~oracle/dev6idoc/olddocs/r25/a32490/ch11.html ), but the only information it gives is "This is an abnormal condition". Well duh, no kidding huh? Love that Oracle documentation.

    Hi,
Not sure if this will help you, but DE stands for Development Environment, the common PL/SQL layer for Forms, Reports, Graphics and Procedure Builders.
A problem with DE resources might happen when we use very large program units (>32K).
However, if the failed reports are successfull at the second attempt, you are probably hitting an hardware/operating system resource problem.

  • ITunesminiplayer.Resources is not a valid file name

I cannot install iTunes 8 because I continued to get this 'miniplayer" error message. I also tried removing the iTunes software that did take hold, but becuase of that file iTunesminiplayer.Resources, I cannot remove the program to install an older version. Any ideas before I sell my iPod on eBay because it's useless to me thanks to iTunes Version 8??????
I have already gone through the following lists of fixes that I found online:
    Windows XP updates
iPod software updates (why that was reccomended I have no idea)
Re-installing iTunes (did this three times)

See if the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will get rid of itunes.
    Then try the install again.

  • "Itunesminiplayer.resources" is not a vaild short file name

I am in need of some help big time... I had to have my computer replaced. I had Itunes on the computer before. Once I downloaded Itunes it was working okay, then it started telling me itunes was not installed properly and to reinstall, but would still open Itunes. Also it would not bring over the track names from the CDs I have. I did find the information on how to bring it over, but it did not work. So I decided to uninstall and start over. Itunes would not uninstall telling me intunesminiplayer.resources is not a vaild short file name and would not uninstall. So I deleted all of the files and tryied to install it again. It started the install process and stopped telling me itunesminiplayer.resources is not a vaild short file name. So now I am without Itunes all together. I have not had this problem before and have no idea how to fix it. Any help would be great!!! I have itunes on my computer at work and it did not give me any trouble when I downloaded it, but we have windsows 7.

That generally indicates damage to the itunes.msi for your existing installation of iTunes, Nite.
These sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for *at least version 3.0* of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes 9.2 again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • ""iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources" is not a valid short file name" error

I was having problems launching iTunes from my desktop shortcut (from a Western Digital external drive). For some unidentified reason, my computer now recognizes this drive as G: instead of F:. To fix the shortcut, I opened up iTunes directly from the drive. I got an iTunes Setup Assistant message that says "Warning! iTunes was not properly installed. If you want iTunes to be able to retrieve CD information from the Internet, you need to reinstall iTunes. When I tried to uninstall iTunes using "Programs and Features" I get an error message, saying ""iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources" is not a valid short file name". To see if the problem was with the drive, I disconnected it and tried to download iTunes (from Apple.com) to my C: drive. (Local Disk). The same error occurred. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix it?

+For some unidentified reason, my computer now recognizes this drive as G: instead of F:.+
Windows has a nasty habit of reassigning drive letters on you when different USB devices are plugged in. The easiest thing might be to assign F: to your exHD permanently. Restart your PC afterwards and try itunes again.

  • Itunesminiplayer resources

    Hi,

    Hi Mohamed,
    To answer your questions:
Q: What is parent resouce ID?
ANS: In your data, you may have some tasks that are associated with another task i.e. child tasks of a parent task. That association would need to be held in a column of your database table, for example PARENT_ID. The value held in the PARENT_ID column would be the ID of the parent task that the current task is associated with. For example, on this page - http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=36648:86 - you can see that the 2nd task, "Update Application Wizard", is a child of the parent node "Charts Integration", and that association is based upon the value stored in the PARENT_ID column of my sample table.
Q: Is it also mandatory? Can I create a gantt chart without it?
ANS: No, it is not mandatory. However, the syntax of the query must include PARENT_ID, which you can of course set to NULL, as you can see in the following example:
    SELECT NULL LINK,
           RESOURCE_ID ID,
           TASK_NAME NAME,
           NULL PARENT_ID,
           START_DATE ACTUAL_START,
           END_DATE ACTUAL_END
FROM   TASKS Below is another sample query, where you can see the PARENT_ID is being set. In this case, we want to represent a hierarchical task list
    SELECT 'f?p=4000:2:'||:APP_SESSION||':::P2_ID:'||ID LINK
           RESOURCE_ID ID,
           RESOURCE_NAME NAME,
           PARENT_ID PARENT_ID,
           START_DATE ACTUAL_START,
           END_DATE ACTUAL_END
FROM   TASKSI hope this helps to clarify things.

  • What kind of resource demand does the standalone listener create?

    Hi all -
I'm wondering what kind of resource load is consumed by the separating the listener off of the database. I guess I was under the impression the listener doesn't really do much at all other than handle the connections and calls to the database. Is it correct in assuming the majority of the resource consumption is still actually on the database or does the listener have a more impacting role?
The question goes into determining what kind of processing power would be needed for a server that is only hosting the listener. Seeing as there really isn't anything that changes within the environment I'm wondering if it's really necessary to have multiple VM's setup for the sole purpose of hosting the listener. On that same note, is separating the listener onto a separate machine really removing any processing demand from the database?
    Thanks :)

    Hi,
it seems you mixed up the database listener with APEX Listener. The APEX Listener is not an alternative for the database listener (you'll still need it when using the APEX Listener), but can be an alternative web server for the Embedded PL/SQL Gateway (EPG, using the database's internal XDB HTTP Server) or Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) to host your APEX instance.
So as ALEX points out, it'll need about as much resources as one of the other web servers would. How much it will be depends on your usage scenario. Again, there is no immediate relation to the database listener.

  • Help! - itunes - itunesminiplayer .resources error message

    please help me!
I've been using itunes or a few years now and have never had any issues. All of a sudden I have started to get this error message when trying to load the program:
"Itunesminiplayer .resourse is not a valid shortcut"
    Click OK:
    "Installation terminated."
it looks like it is trying to install it from new but it has never been removed from my pc. All of this seems to have happened since I have downloaded the newest versions of ituntes.
I cannot repair/uninstall it either - I get the same message. I have tried to download it directly from apple.com and that doesn't work either. No files have been moved by me.
I don't know what to do next! Please help!
    Any suggestions??

    No need to apologise, hbos.
With the "not a valid short file name" messages, we should try the following technique first.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
[Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301]
Now run the utility ("Start > All programs > Windows Install CleanUp"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove". Quit out of CleanUp.
Next, we'll remove any leftover iTunes program files on the PC.
Go "Start > Computer". Open your C Drive (or whatever drive you have your program files installed on). Open "Program files". Right-click on the iTunes folder and select "Delete". Empty your Recycle Bin.
Now restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • What is a resource in OIM - really?

I'm trying to understand what I can do with resources, and how they can be manipulated (especially through the API.)
From the documents, "A resource object is a virtual representation of the target system, and contains all entities related to the external resource." Well, the 2nd part of that sentence seems to be overstating the case - you can create a resource type and create instances of that type, where the type will have user-defined attributes (url, username, etc.)
But still, it seems that the purpose of a resource object is to represent a system, perhaps for the use of reconciliation, but also so that OIM can provision the resource object to users (or groups.)
However, some of my coworkers believe that a resource is more than that. In particular, a resource could represent an arbitrary external entity (let's say, a bit absurdly, a particular automobile), and that there should also be ways to associate operations/permissions with that entity (in this case, "own", "drive", "ride-in", "fix", "sell"), and each operation/permission can be assigned to a user (or group.)
I find no evidence of this type of fine-grained permission-oriented use of resources. Is there a way to handle this type of problem within OIM (9.0.3)? If so, how? Is there something more appropriate than resources?
If it is possible to have operations defined on resources, how would you grant a user a subset of the operations?
And a related question: the API provides what seems to be read-only access to Objects? Is it possible to create Objects through the API? And what is the relationship of Objects to ITResources?
Many thanks for your thoughts and responses!

An IT Resource Type Definition is a type of resource, whether its a database, unix server, Active Directory Domain, Exchange Server, and such.
An IT Resource is a specific instance of a Type, which contains all the connection specific parameters that are passed onto the API calls. If you look at any of the APIs for active directory, it maps the values from the IT Resource to the connection parameters so it can create the connection to Active Directory.
In your example of the automobile, lets say you find a java api, or create one to communicate with an automobile. You have a Type Definition called Automobile, and an IT Resource of specific automobile type, with all the connection parameters you will require when you run your APIs. You would also require a resource object of Automobile type, a process form for the main account, a child table for the permissions, or check boxes, whichever way you would want to select the access rights, and a provisioning process.
So when a request is made for the automobile, the request would specify which specific instance on an IT Resource Lookup field, and however you have defined the access rights, they would select them. When the request is finalized, and provisioning, your APIs would use the IT Resource parameters to establish a connection, and then values from the process form to create the account with the specific rights defined on the form. Then close the connection.
You could also create a generic resource object, that requires no it resource, and it would simply be a place holder for a physical object like a secure id token, or mobile phone. You could just have a provisioning task that requires manual interaction for someone to go in and actually mark the object as "Sent Out" or completed.
Currently you cannot create an object through an API. They are only available during the Import, or creating with the design console.
