What is keyboard combination to pop open DVD drive?

I was on the phone with Apple support a while back when having major start-up problems with my desktop.
The technie told me what key(s) to hold down while rebooting so that the DVD drive would pop open (so I could quickly shove my system CD in there).
Of course, I didn't write down that instruction and now can't remember what it was .... and can't seem to figure it out.
Anyone?
Using Snow Leopard v 10.6.

Hold down the mouse when booting up or restarting the computer.

    Hi,
Please identify your notebook/pc with more than the series number.
Look at the base/rear/side of the notebook/pc at the barcoded sticker.
Post items numbered 1 and 2 on the following image. Your barcode may be slightly different but will still have the important imformation needed for us to help you.
###Do not post the serial number as it is personal information.###
Post the installed operating system version ( and whether it is 32 or 64-bit )
Not posting the information as requested will delay our responses and troubleshooting of the issue that led you to author a thread.

    Hi,
I changed the Sata Hard disk, and installed XP. And I changed to normal again.
Then I cant more open the DVD rom.
    Please help my :(
I have installed the driver on the other Hard Disk. I need really your help.

    Hi
    I agree with Jeka;
Im not quite sure what you did but if the CD/DVD drive does not eject the disk pressing the button then you could try to eject the disk manually.
You will find a small hole near the eject button.
Take an paper clip and put it into this hole. Usually this should help to open the CD/DVD drive and to eject the disk.

  • Ipad keyboard does not pop up

Since upgrading to the lastest iOS on my first generation iPad, the keyboard does not pop open when I need to type. The only way I can recover it is to turn off the iPad and turn it back on. This is getting annoying as it is happening constantly.
Anyone have any ideas of the cause or solutions?

I thought it was in the accessibility section, but now that I think of it the last time I saw it was when I was pairing the Apple Wireless Keyboard, so it's probably automatic via Bluetooth. If the OP turns off Bluetooth the internal keyboard should start working again for reasons mentioned in your initial post. A lot of people have been locked out of the iPad because they'd use a Bluetooth keyboard and forget to turn it off, and then later they'd go to use the iPad but the iPad thinks you still want to use the Bluetooth keyboard instead of the internal one....  so the internal one never pops up.

  • T61 Keyboard flex / pressure affect DVD drive?

    Hi all,
I read in one of the posts that on a T61 there might be "minor keyboard flex" just above the DVD-drive, which i can confirm, though "minor" is vaguely spoken in my case.
The FRU of my keyboard is #42t3218 and thus an ALPS-model, which from what i've read so far seems to be one of the more solid models.
Having seen pictures of the inner frame-structure from the lenovo-site for a T61 and from another thread for the Tx00-series, the magnesium cage encloses the entire DVD-drive area, thus supporting the keyboard from underneath.
But with my T61 there are three cut-outs in this part of the frame, the biggest one of which is in the middle just below the Enter-key and right above the "DO NOT APPLY PRESSURE HERE"-label on the DVD-drive, giving way for considerable flex.
Since i am a heavy typer, this part of the keyboard gets bent quite frequently and i wonder if this could inflict any damage to the DVD-drive in a longer term or if there is a keyboard-model with a stronger base plate which caves in less than this one,
I guess the cut-outs in the frame came out of good intentions in order to make the machine lighter, but i would rather prefer carrying that extra weight for knowing that it makes sense. Having the cage changed as a whole would really  be the last option.

nah, no keyboard flex on my x300, its all very solid, even when using it on one's lap.
    the key is stiff and clicky, it is responsive, the spacing is wide, so if you have large hands and type hard; this keyboards suits you. thinkpad's keyboard is much better than many windows notebook, however;
i somewhat prefer typing on macbook/macbook pro though. on the mac, i can type faster because the key is softer, also, the keyboard is incredibly stiff, this is done trough the use of full metal backplate, the macbook/pro doesn't have drain channel though, and if things go wrong (even if its only one key, and you want to get it fixed), you need to replace the entire topcase, which is expensive. so its really apple and oranges.

  • DVD drive not opening

    HI,
I have HP 430 notebook that I use rarely. The DVD drive on drive is not opening by pressing button on dvd drive. MY machine is power on. Not sure if I need any special driver to open dvd drive on machine. The default microsoft driver with windows 7 professional are already on machine.
I also get a warning sign next to bluetooth adaptor in device manager. Please let me know if I am missing any driver and where to pick them from.

  • IBook 466 DVD drive model number?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the model number is of the DVD drives used in the 466 MHz iBooks? I am trying to get a replacement drive on the cheap for a friend who has a Graphite iBook (but not the DVD drive) and if I knew the model number, it'd greatly help in my search! Thanks!

Past experience tells me that apparently identical Macs can use different parts. The safe way to confirm the part number is to open Apple System Profiler:
9: Apple Menu > Apple System Profiler.
X: Apple Menu > About this Mac > More Info.

  • DVD-Drive detection

    Hi to all
Perhaps somebody has an idea to the following problem.
I'm using a 845E Max2 board and Microsoft Millennium Edition as operting system.
After installing a DVD-Drive, it is correctly recognized on IDE1 in the Mainboard Bios. When Windows then starts it "finds" new hardware and tries to install the necessary drivers. After finishing "installing" i have a "Primary IDE controller (dual Fifo) " in the system shown. This entry has a yellow exclamation mark with the info that the information that the device "is not present and doesn't work proper..." Not necesseray to say that the device isn't recognized in the explorer...
OK; so far so good. But how do i actualize the device driver?
I did install the actual Intel inf drivers (5.0.2.1002)... but that didn't help... still the same problem...
I don't know what's the problem is because this DVD drive is the sole installed device (as master)... all other components are SCSI components... So there shouldn't be any master/slave conflict or something like that at all...
    However... many thanks in advance...
    Regards
    Markus

Insert your DVD drive driver disc and go to Device Manager>Hardware>ATAPI- DVD ROM drive>Properties>Driver>Re-install.
Btw, a good detail of your system hardware info will be better.

  • DVD drive pops open

The DVD Drive on my Pavilion DV6 laptop (Windows 7) pops open when I start up and intermittently after start up.
I used the device manager function to disable the dvd drive and this stops the problem so I guess that one of the applications is opening the drive.
Can someone please tell me if there is a way to identify which application is causing the drive to open.
    Regards
    Ed

Was online with tech support this afternoon and we seem to have solved the problem. Here is what we did.
    First, modified the registry
    Please try the below steps
Click Start on the Left Bottom of the Screen.
    Click Start Search
    Type “regedit” and Hit Enter
On the Left hand Pane you can find H-Key-Local Machine.
On the Left side of H-Key-Local Machine you can find “>” sign Click on that “>” Sign.
You can find “System”, just click on beside its “>” sign.
Where you can find “Current Control Set”, just click on beside its “>” sign.
Where you can find “Control”, just click on beside on its “>” sign.
Where you can find “Class”, just click on beside on its “>” sign.
Please look for “{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}”, just click on it(Not on the arrow beside it)
In the right side of the pane you can find ‘Upper Filter’
Please select ‘Upper Filter’and delete it.
Then choose the Lower filter and delete it.
In my case, I didn't have the Upper Filter, but I did have a LowerFilters
I deleted it and restarted and the drive still popped open but this may have helped for the next step.
Secondly, I opened up the device manager from the control panel and removed the "hp DVD" device. Afterward, I rebooted. The device automatically got re-installed.
For now, the door seems to be staying shut. We'll see how it goes over the next few days.
