What is keyboard shortcut to clear Macbook screen?

I have been using my MacBook Pro to run extended desktops on two monitors.  Now, when I start up my MacBook, I get a grey screen instead of the desktop.
Is there a keyboard shortcut to bypass the grey screen and take me to the desktop on startup?

no.

  • What is the keyboard shortcut to the lock screen?

    Hi,
I am a macbook user and I want to know what is the shortcut to the lock screen on mac OS X?
    please help!
    thank you

    YousefTa3lab,
there isn’t a default keyboard shortcut to the lock screen; perhaps a third-party app can provide one. Without a third-party app, you could open the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab, and check the “Require password after sleep or screen saver begins” checkbox. You can then open the Desktop & Screen Saver pane of System Preferences, select the Screen Saver tab, choose a screen saver, then press the Hot Corners… button, and set one or more active screen corners to Start Screen Saver — that will allow you to move your cursor into one of those corners to lock your screen.

  • Keyboard shortcut for "Clear" brush mode?

    I saw on this site http://helpx.adobe.com/en/photoshop/using/default-keyboard-shortcuts.html#WS17DDC46E-8F05- 4250-8CFC-EE0AB2E6EF84a
that the keyboard shortcut for CLEAR brush blending mode was shift+alt+R for windows. I tried it but I keep hearing that "DING ERROR" sound everytime I try. Most of the normal shortcuts work but that one and a few others dont for some reason.

  • HT201181 hi, in apple MacBook Air 11.6" what is the shortcut key for print screen

hi, in apple MacBook Air 11.6" what is the shortcut key for print screen

To capture the entire screen to an image, use the key combination ⌘ shift 3.
To capture a selection rectangle, ⌘ shift 4.
To capture the frontmost window, ⌘ shift 4 and then press the space bar.
The screen grab will appear on your Desktop. Open it in Preview or your favourite image editing software, and print in the usual manner.

  • How to find what a keyboard shortcut does

It's not just Lion, but still there and annoying. One particular shortcut, ⇧⌘B, does not work in applications such as Xcode (Build Results) or Nisus Writer Pro (Add Bookmark). It seems to me that there is some global shortcut which is blocking this shortcut, but it doesn't appear to do anything. How do I find out what is defining this shortcut? I've looked in the Keyboard Shortcuts section of System Preferences, but don't see anything that defines it. Is there somewhere else I can look?

Useful page, but it doesn't really help. The only occurrence of shift-command-B that I found was in Keynote help, for send to back, but that's another application that it doesn't work in. What I am looking for is a way to find out what has hijacked this keyboard shortcut, apparently globally. Is there some debugging mode to see which application is intercepting it?

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut to clear mailbox search?

I know I can do cmd-opt-f and then delete, but wondering if there's a one stroke option.

    Go to the '''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ Mozilla Add-ons Web Page]''' {web link}
(There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for what you want.

  • What is the keyboard shortcut to move to the next sheet in Numbers.

What is the keyboard shortcut on a Macbook Pro to move to the next sheet in the Numbers application. Based on my search of the internet, I have tried fn+command+arrow up, and it does not work. I have tried every other combo I could think of or that was suggested on the internet, but to no avail. Is there a keyboard shortcut if just using the keyboard of a MacBook Pro?

There use to be a shortcut key, but I think they killed it with the last update. I haven't been able to find one that works. Hopefully someone here can settle this.

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut to mirror a macbook air on a VGA projector?

I know I can mirror displays by going through the system preferences then displays.
But I would like to be able to swith from mirroring to not mirroring quickly, without going through the system preferences every time.  Is there a keyboard shortcut?
My Macbook Pro had the F7 key where I could swith in and out of mirroring.  I tired F7 with my Air and it didn't work.
    Thanks

    Got it.

  • Screen Saver keyboard shortcut?

Is there a keyboard shortcut to activate a screensaver? If not could I assign a keyboard shortcut?

    Hi, dott.
There's neither a keyboard shortcut, nor a straightforward way to assign a keyboard shortcut, to launch the screen saver. However, there are some workarounds to this:
    1. One method can be found in the last four paragraphs of this Macworld article. It will require you to provide your password when you want to end the screen saver.
    2. See this topic on Mac OS X Hints. There are a variety of ideas discussed therein, including writing an AppleScript to launch the screen saver, which can then be assigned to a keyboard shortcut using third-party apps like iKey and QuickKeys, which provide more function than Mac OS X in defining your own keyboard shortcuts.
To see all the comments in that topic, in the pop-up menu below the main comment that reads "Threaded" select "Nested" and then click Refresh.
    3. A couple of folks have developed utilities for this. You can check out LockTight (also mentioned in the Mac OS X Hints topic cited in point 2) and Salute. Note that I've not tried either of these apps, but the comments I've read about them have been positive.
    Good luck!

  • Keyboard shortcuts not working

Here is the thread I had going online. Lost patience. Very disappointed. I would love an answer if you have one.
    Drake DeLucca
in Adobe Story Plus my keyboard shortcuts do not work. I'm on a Macbook. I'm really tired of using an outdated Mac and Final Draft AV, but I cannot get this Adobe Story to work at all. I cannot work efficiently if I have to go to a drop down menu every time I need a new element. I need to keystroke the element & type. I'm running the latest OS on my Macbook Pro.
Vartul, thank you for the link , but I didn't make myself clear. I had been to the linked page previously. When I use these keyboard shortcuts on my Macbook they simply do not have the specified outcome. They don't work at all. Is there a setting in preferences that I need to correct? I am generally working with multiple desktops and swipe from one to another using my multitouch trackpad. When I use the specified shortcuts I get bounced out of Adobe Story into another desktop. This leads me to believe there is a Mac Preference that needs to be changed but I haven't figured it out yet. Can you enlighten me as to what the conflict might be?

    Hi Drake,
    Sorry for a late reply.
I am guessing that you are using Story through Safari browser. The shortcuts to change element types are in Safari are:
    Apply Scene Heading : Control + 1
    Apply Action : Control + 2
    Apply Character : Control + 3
    Apply parenthetical : Control + 4
    Apply dialogue : Control + 5
    Apply transition : Control + 6
    Apply shot : Control + 7
    Apply General : Control + 8
There are another set of keyboard shortcuts that affect the behaviour of 'Tab' and 'Enter' keys while you are typing some element.
e.g. when you are typing a 'Scene Heading', pressing 'Enter' will move you to an 'Action' element. Similarly while typing an Action element, pressing 'tab' key will add a new 'Character' element.
You can customize these set of shortcuts from Temple option of Edit Menu.
    I hope this helps

  • Keyboard shortcuts for IC webclient CRM5.0

    Hi,
following the procedure on help.sap, i am trying to active the keyboard shortcuts for IC Webclient screen.
here are the steps i followed, but i could not see any shortcuts working....
    what am i missing?

    Activate and define shortcuts
    i        Activate shortcuts
By default, shortcut keys are deactivated. If you want to use shortcuts, you must first activate them by choosing Default Navigation Bar.
    ii        Change shortcuts
You can define your own shortcut keys by deleting the key that appears in column Shortcut and entering the key of your choice.
    iii        Display shortcuts in application
If you want the shortcut keys to be displayed in the application, choose Show Keyboard Navigation Shortcuts in Menu.
what i am looking for is keyboard shortcuts like, F4 or F8 we use in CRM GUI, these will be for use by end users (agents of IC) for creating order entries and other functions....
    Thanks in adv,
    points will be rewarded

    Hello,
Maybe a silly remark but if you define shortcut "K" for entry X you can use the shortcut by pressing ESC + K. In other words, you should always use the ESC in combination with the choosen shortcut.
    Hope this solves your problem!
    Rewards points if useful,
    Regards,

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut for zooming out my parents' computer's desktop

I did not witness what happened, but apparently my brother ctrl+scrolled up(and zoomed all the way in) and my mother has been trying to figure out how to zoom it out. We have a Mighty Mouse, but it can not scroll down for some strange reason(It's broken). We somehow got it to zoom all the way out, but we have no clue how we did it. Is there a quick keyboard shortcut to zoom the screen out all the way in case it happens again(or in case I make some video that requires me to zoom in and focus on XCode and I later want to zoom out, seeing as my mother fixed her preferences to not allow it to zoom in)? If so, what is it? Is there also a keyboard shortcut to zoom in, in case we turn scrolling off altogether?

In the System Preference> Universal Access> panel, you can reverse the
results of an accidental setting found through a random keyboard command.
    • Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1343
Or, just keyboard: *The use of Option-Command-8 is said to Turn On/Off Zoom*.
Using a standard USB mouse, be it an old one-button Apple USB or a newer
two-button PC mouse (no drivers should be needed) you could get past the
immediate issue of the Mighty Mouse's scroll button problem.
The Mighty Mouse probably has dust & debris inside the roller-ball assembly.
There have been some instructions (on how to open/clean & reseal it) online.
If you attempt to do this, be sure you have a working alternative mouse first.
*Cleaning Mighty Mouse* involves some skill, dexterity, tools, glue, tedium & time:

    In any event...

  • Keyboard shortcut for navigation? (real simple question)

Hi, I dont know if this is the right place to post this, but do any of you know what the keyboard shortcuts are for navigating this screen:
    http://screencast.com/t/W8ollYoC
I've been translating a lot, and I am continually forced to use the mouse, which can be quite a nuisance
    Regards
    Lasse

    Hi Lasse,
No, it won't. Instead right click on the node (of the tree in your window) and see possible navigation shortcuts like expand (which is CTRLSHIFTF10) or collapse (CTRLSHIFTF11). There are some more like focus (CTRSHIFTF12). Unfotunatelly no other way is possible here to easily navigate through the tree.

  • Artboard keyboard shortcut?

Does anyone know what the keyboard shortcut is to move to Next/Previous Artboard?
Also has anyone had problems with the CS4 suite and Spaces in OSX 10.5.6? I am almost certain that with Spaces on it was causing the crash on boot of every CS4 app.

The actual workspace won't move, but the selected artboard does change. So if you zoom out so you can see all the artboards, then you'll notice the selection change.
If you want to move to another artboard the actual steps would be command+arrow, then Command-0 to fit artboard to screen.
I do think that either the arrows should automatically "fit artboard to screen" so you can see the change or there should be some other command that moves the selection to the next artboard and moves it to the screen as well.
