what is up with the administrator password thing do i have to restart the istall again!

  • What is the best Database Administrator Tool

In my one of my earlier organizations DB administration jobs were done with TOAD. In my next organization my Project manager told that TOAD is actually meant for developers. There the tool was DBArtisan. Now in my present company I would have to take the decision to purchase some DB Administration tool. What should I select ? Any of the two ? Or any third one ? If any suggestion comes it will be a great help for me.
    I am using Oracle 8x,9x10g
and the OSs are Unix AIX, Windows etc

It really depends on what you mean by 'Administer the database', 'Database Administrator Tool' and so on. In other words, it depends on what you really want to accomplish.
Many people want a tool to put up pretty pictures and respond to mouse clicks to 'do things'. There are a fair number of tools that accomplish this very well.
TOAD was originally for developers (hence the name Tool for Oracle Application Developer), but it has expanded dramatically to include a number of DBA capabilities. Quest, BMC, Computer Associates and others have excellent tools that are heavily into the 'draw a picture and lead the budding DBA in complacency'.
Even Oracle Enterprise Manager is great from that perspective AND it's free!!! Well, except that you license and pay for the add-on packs that make it truly useful.
To paraphrase Nicolas - the best DBA tool is an intelligent DBA using SQLPlus. All other tools will lead down the path that the tool developer has decided to use. Which may be right for some of the time, but is rarely right all the time, and rarely completely right for the latest and greatest releases of Oracle.

  • What should a Windows system administrator know how to do?

Bulk import users, rename, change password of said list, export the list, mail enable, change SMTP address.
I think I recall the post - I'll try to find it, if I can't find it I know Gary posted comments on the page so I'll try to summon him here too.

I came across a very helpful discussion posted by someone who was studying to become a server administrator and he asked about things to practice to be a good admin. There were lots of excellent comments, but I am having trouble finding this feed from like 3 months ago maybe. I want to know what types of tasks can I practice in my home lab to sharpen my skills; i.e. 'be able to write a script to add new users to AD'

  • What are the sap basis administrator tasks for SAP CRM 7.0

    Hello Guys,
I am an SAP BASIS administrator. I have never worked on any CRM system.
Now a days people in market talk much about wheather you have worked on CRM.
I have  no idea how CRM basis administration is different from the basis administartion of other products based on netweaver.
I would appreciate if someone throw some light on "SAP basis administration of CRM system".
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
Some excellent documentations are available in:- https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/crm-inst (search for the operation guide pdfs, if required you can also check inst/upg docs). User your S user id/password to login.
From my experience, in practical field most of the issues you will face with qRFC/BDoc message flow handling and JAVA stack administration. Stress on these two areas and go through the guides, CRM admin won't be a major issue.
Once you go through the basic operation guides and start working on the system then you will come to know there exists many CRM specific trx(SMW02,SMWP..etc) codes and CRM related tables(CRMPAROLTP,CRMRFCPAR.. etc),bgd jobs/reports - which you have to take care at times.
    Thanks

  • What is the apex internal administration credentials

    dear all
i have installed oracle xe 11g and i have loged in on storage and apex tabs and i have created workspace and users.
now i would like to access apex internal administration. i need to configure email server ip there
can anyone help me with this.
    thanks in advance
    Uday

    Hi Uday,
that's no problem. You'll find a script named apxchpwd.sql in the apex directory of your XE installation path (e.g. +/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/apex+ on Linux).
Change to that directory, start sqlplus as sysdba and run the script to reset the password.
Note that you'll have to set the environment properly to be able to run sqlplus. You can do that by sourcing the oracle_env.sh
    . /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/bin/oracle_env.sh
    cd /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/apex
    sqlplus sys@XE as sysdba
    (enter login data)
    @apxchpwd.sql
    (enter new password)
exitAfterwards you should be able to login using the new password.

  • Role Administration in abap query

What is mean by role administration  for infoset query

    hi
    good
You have administrator authorization for the SAP Query (authorization object S_Query, field ACTVT, value 23).
    Specifying assignments
In order to include the InfoSet query in a role, proceed as follows:
Call up the component for administering roles.
    You have two options:
In the initial screen for the component InfoSet Maintenance (SQ02), choose the entry Environment ® Role Administration.
    Start transaction SQ10.
An overview of roles and assigned user groups is displayed.
The overview refers to the respective user group from either the global area or from the standard area. Using the function Switch Work Area, you can switch between both work areas.

  • Why some settings are located in windows settings node while other are located in administrative template node?

    hi friends
when we look at any GPO in Group policy management snap-in, each GPO has these four main sections
1-software settings     2- windows settings       3- administrative templates         4- preferences
my question is, what logic or criteria exist about dividing OS settings into these four parts?
what shared characteristics exist in windows settings node & what shared characteristics exist in administrative templates node?
its confusing. because some settings about windows exist in windows settings node but some other settings which are again related to windows, are located in administrative templates node.
    any help please.
    thanks in advanced

    > but i need some more info about that
For which purpose? It is the way it is, that's it :)

  • APIM Delegation and the Administrator account

When using the Delegation feature (delegating sign-in and sign-up), are there any special requirements for handling the Administrator account?
The Administrator user has already been added to the developer portal (when the APIM instance is initially created) – that user (ID = “1”, name = “Administrator”, email=”whatever was provided when the APIM instance was created”) isn’t a registered user in
my  delegated identity service.  So there are a few operations that don’t work in the portal.  For example, when logged in to the developer portal as Administrator and navigating to the profile page, what is supposed to happen when clicking
the “Change account information” button?  Should that button even be available for the Administrator when using delegation?

    Miao,
That is exactly how I am logging in...so once the Administrator logs in (via Azure Portal -> Launch Management Console -> Go to Developer portal), what should happen when the Administrator clicks on "Administrator -> Profile -> Change Account
Information" (on the Administrator profile page in the developer portal) when delegation is enabled?
Should that button be visible at all on the Profile page when delegation is enabled and the current user is the Administrator?

  • Administrative Node for Multi-node EBS

    Hi hussein,
What do you mean by "administrative node" in EBS? Is it the CM manager node?
By the way, we had a meeting with Oracle Technical Support. Our client get their services to implement "RAC" to
the EBS R12, which was awarded to us for implementation. I am very thankful they have it outsourced to Oracle.
The Oracle tech support pre-reqs to implement RAC was to install it on multi-node, say node1 for apps tier and
node2 for Db tier, and he told me to put the "administrative node" on the Db tier so that it will be capable of
    paraller processing.
How do you put the administrative node to the Db tier during cloning? or splitting of nodes?
    Thanks a lot
    ms k

    Hi,
The disk must be writable by both apps tier, right? To have unified appl_topThis is right in case you have shared application tier filesystem (the disk is shared, so locking mechanism should be handled by the disk). But, the unified APPL_TOP concept has nothing to do with the shared disk. In 11i, with a tradition multi-node installation, we used to have a different application tier files on each node. For example, let's say you have the forms/web installed on one server "Server A", and the CM installed on another server "Server B", in this case you will not find the CM script or the reports on "Server A", and in order to move the files you have to clone the tier. In R12, the unified concept makes the management of the files easier as Rapid Install installs ALL the application files on all the application tier nodes, so you just update the context file to tell the application that this node will be used as a CM/Forms/Web node, and you run the script on the node where you want the application component to be running.
