WHAT IS LOCK SYMBOL NEXT TO BATTERY SYMBOL. LOCK HAS A CIRCULAR ARROW AROUND IT
can not seem to find out what the lock symbol with circle around it next to battery symbol is ...... any one know what it is and how to turn it off ?
never mind .... found the answer in another discussion post.. its a setting for locking out the rotation feature. problem solved.

This is simply he rotation lock icon showing up. It means that your iPad 2 running iOS 5.5.1 is "locked" in either portrait or landscape mode. This restricts the screen from rotating when you tilt it. This feature can be very useful in certain cases. To disable this feature, simply double tap on the home button to access the multitasking menu. From there, swipe to the right and tap the icon that looks like a lock with a circle around it. Depending on the settings on your iPad, you may have to turn off rotation lock by flipping the switch directly above the volume switch into the opposite position as it is in now. Hope this helped! hi my 3g ipone has problems connecting to a wifi hotspot,on the top next to battery symbol is a LOCK ICON with a circular arrow around lock .anyone have any idea what this signfies and could it be something to do with the wifi problems
It's orientation lock. Double tap the home button, swipe left to right, far left is the orientation lock. Tap on/off. Tap home button when finished.

The padlock with the circled arrow around it means the orientation lock is on & the screen will not change from portrait or landscape mode when you rotate your device.

It means the phone is locked in portrait mode so that means when you want to turn your screen to landscape it won't let you unless you take off the lock
If you want to remove it - PRESS HOME BUTTON TWICE WHICH WILL POP UP MULIT TASKING THNE SWIPE TO THE LEFT AND YOU WILL SEE A GRAYISH SQUARE CLICK ON THAT ONCE AND IT SHOULD GO AWAY -

Yes, the files are still located in the same drive, the exact same place Lightroom put them (in Pictures in Library).
When I double-click on the catalog file, it opens up multiple folders with little white "document-looking" blank pages, and when I click on those, it open a dialog box that says "How do you want to open this type of a file (.Ircat)?" with a little box below that says "Look for an app in the store".
So I don't think my computer knows how to open them...I think I need to re-download Lightroom. I just want to make sure I'm not going to mess up the files. -

this weird icon popped up on my phone yesterday and have no idea what it means. it is a lock with a circular arrow around it?
You you have rotation lock enabled. A rotation lock icon will appear in the status bar next to the battery charge icon when rotation lock is enabled. This looks like a circular arrow around a padlock. If so:
1. Double click the home button to bring up the multitasking bar.
2. Swipe right until the last set of icons is displayed in the multitasking bar (these will include play/pause and skip buttons for iPod or Pandora).
3. The furthest left icon looks like a circular arrow - touch this icon to enable or disable rotation lock on the iPhone. -

ive noticed on my iphone 4s it now has a circular arrow in the top left of my conacts list like a refresh symbol but it does nothing. does anyone know what its for? i swear it wasnt there yesterday.
also how do you get rid of duplicate contacts or contacts you no longer need? i know we can merge contacts but there seems to be tons of names and numbers i have put into categories for work contacts and since using icloud when one person rings i have three different names for them that pops up.1. It is a refresh icon, it initiates a manual sync with the server storing/syncing contacts.
2. Sinec you know about merge. You can also delete, tap to open a contact, click edit, and then scroll to the bottom. Alternatively, you can log into icloud.com and edit, delete, prune there much easier if you have many alterations to make. -

drsoif, this is the Portrait Orientaion Lock, which means you locked your phone in a way for it not to have landscaping mode. To correct this you will need to: double tap your home button and swipe to the right, first icon will be the icon with the ''arrow'' going in a circle, tap on it once and the lock will disappear:)

Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to display your Control Panel. You will see the Orientation Lock icon in the top right. Tap on this to toggle Orientation Lock on or off.
