What is logical system?

Hi all,
What is the logical system name? Is it the same "source system name"? It shows when I try to create a R3 datasource in BW. Thank you.
Thank you for everyone who answered my questions before. I assigned the points to you and didn't get chance to email for thank you.

Hi!
You need to maintain basic settigs for ALE for this
and what do you want to see...
you can see the logical system names available in any sap system under. In SPRO ->
SAP NetWeaver  ® SAP  Web Application Server  ® IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) ® Basic Settings ® Cross-Application Components ® Distribution (ALE) ® Basic Settings ® Logical Systems

  • What is logical system in ALE

    Dear all
I still confuse with Logical System in ALE where we already have Client.
And I see that relationship between Client and Logical System is 1:1
So why we need Logical System instead just use Client ?
    Regards,
    Halomoan

I think this is what you want to read:
A logical system is an unique identifier of a system/client combination.
That is why SAP recommends to use the notation <SID>CLNT<CLT> to set the logical system. For example, assume you have client 400 for system QA1 and you have client 400 for system DV1. Then the logical system name would be:
    for QA1/400: QA1CLNT400
    for DV1/400: DV1CLNT400
The logical system is used in the IDOCS that you transmit from one system to the other. So with this, you know the source system of the IDOC, and this tells you where the business document was created.
Using only the client as identifier is not enough, because you can have the same client number in several systems.
Nevertheless, you should read the documentation!!

  • Partner profile...port....logical system....!!!!!!!

    Hello Everyone,
few stupid questions came to my mind but no  document cleard it, so thought that someone might throw some light on this.
    <b>
What is logical system in R/3 and why do we create that ?
what do we mean by partner profile and what is its significance?
    what is use of port...???</b>
<u>these all three parameters we look when we create outbound IDOCs for IDOC to file (of any other) scenario.</u>
    thanks,
    Pranav

    Hi Pranav,
What is logical system in R/3 and why do we create that ?
A logical system is your R/3 address where you can distribute data to and from an R/3 system.
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10464_05/integrate.904/b10299/ale.htm This link gives you a better idea of a logical system.
what do we mean by partner profile and what is its significance?
Based on an existing logical system, a partner profile is an identifier for a system used for communicating messages.
http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10465_01/integrate.904/b10408/ale.htm gives you a very good idea regarding partner profiles and ports.
    Hope these help,

  • Logical System,Business System

    Hi Gurus,
What is Logical System? n What is Business System?
Wt is the Difference betweent these two?Can you explain me in detial.
    thanks in advacne.

    Hi Kumar
    Logical System
System in which applications sharing a common data basis run. In SAP terms, a logical system is a client in a database. Messages are exchanged between logical systems.
Systems of the Central User Administration (CUA) are referred to using logical system IDs. In the SAP sense, a logical system is a client. Therefore you must first set up logical system names that you then assign to the clients in the SAP systems.
It is possible that the logical system name already exists because you have already included the system in an ALE distribution. You can then ignore the procedures Define/Set Up Logical System and Assign Logical System to a Client.
Business systems are logical systems that function as senders or receivers within the SAP Exchange Infrastructure. You configure business systems in the SAP System Landscape Directory (SLD). A business system is always associated with a technical system (here: SAP Web AS ABAP system).

  • External Party to Logical System Integration

    My scenario is as follows
External Party --> XI --> ECC. XML coming into XI and data posted in ECC using IDoc.
We have several different external parties that we need to integrate with but they all will send us the data in the same XML format and they do not have any different mapping requirements. So we can use the same design objects for all of them. However, they need to be setup as separate logical systems in ECC as we have different teams that support error handling for each of the external parties.
I dont have any need to use BPM as my mapping is fairly straightforward. I have setup a party in XI for each external party.
My problem is how can I have XI pass IDoc to different logical systems based on the external party?
I have tried playing with the adapter specific attributes on the sender service and giving logical system there but to no avail. How can I accomplish this without creating the parties as business systems in SLD as there are quite a few of them? Or is it the only way?
Any help will be greatly appreciated and rewarded.

    Hi,
Is there some way that the source payload allows you to distinguish which system it comes from and what the logical system name has to be ?
If yes, in the Idoc control record, populate the values of  SNDPRN and SNDPRT with the Sender PartnerName and Sender Partner Type ( Sender Partner Name will be the logical system name ) on the basis of this source condition and in the Idoc adapter select option "Take Sender from payload"

  • What is a R/3 system, logical system, and legacy system...???

    Hi,
Please throw some light on...What is a R/3 system, logical system, and legacy system...???

    Hi,
R/3 system is a normal SAP system that stores data.
A legacy system is an existing computer system or application program which continues to be used because the user does not want to replace or redesign it.

  • In what situation, I should define a logical system?

In our sap system, we do not define any logical system for a certain client.  I do not know is it necessary to define the logical system,   what is it used for?   In what sitution, I should have a logical system?     Could you give me some advices?
    thanks

    Hi,
'logical system' is used to identify an individual client in a system, for ALE
    communication between SAP systems.

  • Logical Systems in Business Services

    Hi
In Business Service creation, for Adapter Specific Identifiers, the parameter for the Logical System. It is only possible to assign one logical system to one Business Service ?.
    i.e. to do
    MyBusServ1, Z_LS_1
    MyBusServ2, Z_LS_1
    is not possible ?
When trying to assign Z_LS_1 to MyBusServ2 I get the error that Z_LS_1 is already assigned. Is there a way to circumvent ?, I do not want to create two logical systems in R/3 as the IDOCS types submitted by the Business Services are the same.
    Thanks
    Damien

    Thanks for the replies
Sarvesh - The Business service is the sender of the information \ IDOC. If I remove the Adapter specific config then how will XI know what Logical system to apply to the IDOC ?.
Jaishankar - I am creating two IDOC's in SAP. MATMAS and PORDCR. The input file are coming from two different source systems. lets say sys1 and sys2. Both of thse for clarity are created in my scenario as Business Services. sys 1 creates MATMAS and PORDCR IDOC's int he syatem, sys2 creates PORDCR IDOC's in the system. As sys1 and sys2 are related in that they created the IDOC's as part od the same project then I would like to collect in the same partner profile in SAP e.g. Partner Profile ZPP_IDOC with IDOC types MATMAS PORDCR that serve as input for both systems. Logically I would assume that I can assing the logical system ZPP_IDOC to both the adapter specific parameter in both sys1 and sys2.
    Thanks

  • An RFC destination could not be specified for the logical system

    Hello Experts,
I am trying post goods receipt in EWM system in a simple inbound delivery process. It is not getting posted back in ECC. I have my RFC connection setup properly(I assume since I was able to transfer inbound delivery to EWM in first place). It seems some setting related to Outbound queue in EWM is missing. Can anyone tell me in detail what settings are required? Is it something to do with WE20 transaction?I am not sure what settings should be done there. The error log is as below-
An RFC destination could not be specified for the logical system
    SB3CLNT011
    Message No. B1550
    Diagnosis
An RFC destination should be specified for the logical system SB3CLNT011.
This could not be done in this case. SB3CLNT011 is not your local logical system
and this system is not included in the relevant Customizing tables.
    Procedure
    Check:
    RFC
    destination
    Port
    definitions
    oubound partner profile of
message type SYNCH for this logical system

    Hi Oritra and Suraj,
I have checked remote connection in SM59 for both the logical system. It works fine.I understand this is more of a technical issue, but I don't have A local basis team to help me so reaching out to experts here. Can you guide me what technical settings could be checked for EWM-->ECC connection? When I execute BD82 for SB3CLNT011 it shows me green status with message "No messages have been defined for the selection conditions in the model".
Although when I do this for EWM logical system SB3CLNT012 it shows me this with all green status-
System SB3CLNT011 as a partner type already exists
System SB3CLNT012 as a partner type already exists
Port A000000018 with RFC destination SB3CLNT011 already exists
Outbound parameters for message type SHP_IBDLV_CHANGE SHP_IBDLV_CHANGE01 already
Outbound parameters for message type SHP_IBDLV_SAVE_REPLICA SHP_IBDLV_SAVE_REPLI
Outbound parameters for message type SYNCH SYNCHRON already exist
Am I missing something in WE20?

  • Logical system name for acknowledgement in BPM

    Hi,
    I have a szenario:
    IDOC --> BPM --> MAIL
Inside BPM I check the message and depending on an xml-element I stop the process or I send the message by mail.
When I stop the process the BPM sends back an acknowledgement and in SXMB_MONI I can see an error of the acknowledgement:
"Sender Test_BPM_IDOC_TO_MAIL kann nicht in ein ALE Logisches System umgeschlüsselt werden" (Sender can not convert in a ALE logical system)
    What can I do?
    Possible Solution 1:
I can define my BPM "Test_BPM_IDOC_TO_MAIL" as a logical system (including WE20 for ALEAUD).
    Possible Solution 2:
I can enter an existing logical system name in the "adapter specific attributes".
BUT it is not use the same logical system name twice (BAD ... or is there a workaround?
Is Solution 1) a common way?
    Thanx

    Hi,
    there are many ways:
some for aleaud are described in my book:

no this is not good a good idea

  • Logical system and rfc destination

    hello all,
what is the difference between logical system and RFC destination?
thanks for ur help in advance.
    regards,
    vikas

    Hi,
In any ALE scenario u need one sender and one receiver system.
Logical systems are just logical representation of these systems but in case of RFC destination u specify technical parameters for those systems like IP address and username and password to connect to that system.
Thus when u create port i.e.we21 u specify actual RFC destination for the system to which u want to connect and when u create partner profile for that logical system u specify this port so when u want to send data to this logical system i.e receiver system port will be used which in turn has RFC destination which will be used to connect to that system.
In simple terms logical systems are logical representation of any system and RFC destinations are physical/techinical systems.

  • Logical system and business system

Hi experts, please help me with the below questions---
    1) What is the diff between logical system and business system?
2)what is the difference between logical system(defined in R/3) and business system (defined in SLD) in idoc to file scenario.
    3) Is it require to give the logical system name of the xi server(Which we define in idx1 port) to the 3rd party system(Application system at the FTP side) to carry out file to idoc scerario?

    Hi,
    Business System :
    1. Business systems are logical systems, which function as senders or receivers within XI. Business systems can be SAP systems or third-party systems. Depending on the associated technical system.
    2. Business Systems should be mandatory used when dealing with Idoc's and Proxies .
    Business Service:
    1. Business Service requires manual adding on Inbound and Outbound Interfaces, Business Systems do not.
    2. Business Services are maintained across environments and so, their names cannot be changed. Business Systems names can be changed across environments by providing SLD level transport targets.
3.In the Business Services we cannot maintain the Group and Targets in SLD. For Ease in transporting your ID/Configuration objects Groups and Targets are used in SLD for Business Systems.
4.Business Service has no SLD Entries and No Assigned Products and SWCV's

  • Logical system creation in BD54

    hey guys
i have a very silly question,i m really confusing myself.
well i m doing a IDOC to File scenario.
on the R/3 side i have RFC dest(SM59) and Port(we21) in place, both pointing to the XI system.Port is SAPXD1(XD1 is system ID of the XI system).
    i m confused in BD54 and WE20.
i go in BD54 to create a logical system with the name XD1CLNT100(XD1 is the system ID of the XI system and 100 is the client)
then i go in WE20 and create a partner profile, with the same name as Logical system(XD1CLNT100),then in the outbound side i enter the IDOC i m gonna send and give the Port name as SAPXD1.
lemme know if the above steps are right?
now my stupid question is,when we create a logical system in BD54,is that the logical system for R/3 or for XI?
is this the same logical system name which i have to use in SLD to create a business system for the sender service?
i have gone through lots of blog and links and m really confused.
    please dont send any links.
    appreciate ur help
    thanx
    ahmad

    Ahmad,
Get in touch with the Basis Team. They should be able to give you the Logical System name of your R3 system . Normally it always is , SID"CLNT"ClientNumber.
You will only create on Business System and this will be the One for the R3 system using the R3's logcial system name.
When the Idoc is sent from R3, it will search in the SLD with its logical system name to find what the correspionding Bsuiness System is. After it finds the Business System it will fill the SOAP header with details like Sender Service and Sender Interface and Sender NameSpace and with these values deterkine the receiver.
As you are doing a file to Idoc, the receiver can be a thrid party business system or a business service.
The Receiever System is also a WebASABAP business system in case you are doing an Idoc to Idoc and that is a different case altogether
