What is Master Data Consolidation?

Hi Friends,
what is Master Data Consolidation?
please explain this procedure with one good example?
please....

Hi,
Master Data Consolidation means:
1. Load master data from client systems
2. Identification and consolidation of similar or identical objects
3. Provision of key mapping for unified, company wide analytics and     business operations.
4. It aggregate master data across SAP and non- SAP systems into    a centralized master data repository. Once data is consolidated, you can search for data across linked systems, identify identical or similar objects across systems, and provide key mapping for reliable company wide analytics and reporting.
In this scenario, these are the following steps:
1. Users use SAP net weaver MDM to collect master data from several systems at a central location,
2. Detect and clean up duplicate and identical objects, and manage the local object keys for cross-system communication.
3.With this consolidated data, users can access the information they need to perform company-wide analysis and consolidated.
For example: Suppose Wipro have different branches like: Wipro Technologies, Wipro Limited, Wipro Infotech and each branch is  doing business with the same customer. Each branch has its own name and is own id but overall it's a company called Wipro.
So, now if you see all these records are duplicate and hence give inconsistencies when this data is distributed in different departments of an organization. So we consolidate this data by sending it to MDM where all the information is consolidated, updated and managed properly.

  • What is Master Data Hormonization?

    Hi dear friends,
    1) What is Master Data Harmonization?
    2) please explain me with one good example? please...
    3) What are the SAP NetWeaver MDM  six core and business scenarios? Explain each with one example

    Hi,
SAP provides six scenarios u2014 or approaches to working with SAP NetWeaver u2014 to help companies maintain their master data while at the same supporting a flexible, innovative IT environment. These are as follows:
    1. Master Data Consolidation u2014
In this scenario, users use SAP NetWeaver MDM to collect master data from several systems at a central location, detect and clean up duplicate and identical objects, and manage the local object keys for cross-system communication. With this consolidated data, users can access the information they need to perform company-wide analyses and consolidated reporting.
    2. Master Data Harmonization---
This scenario enhances the Master Data Consolidation scenario by forwarding the consolidated master data information to all connected, remote systems, thus depositing unified, high-quality data in heterogeneous system landscapes. With this scenario, you can synchronize central data contents u2014 that is, globally relevant data u2014 based on your results. For example, you can assign the same address to all occurrences of a particular customer.
    3. Central Master Data Management---
Whereas the emphasis in the Master Data Harmonization scenario is on local data maintenance, the Central Master Data Management scenario focuses on cleansing data in the central data repository. It then distributes the cleansed data to the connected application systems.
    4. Rich Product Content Management---
This scenario is intended for the product information management (PIM) market, as it offers many functions for managing product data and corresponding image files centrally via SAP NetWeaver MDM. It can also be used to prepare for publishing product catalogs, either in electronic Web format or in print.
    5. Customer Data Integration---
The Customer Data Integration scenario lets you harmonize customer master data records across heterogeneous systems.
    6. Global Data Synchronization---
Through Global Data Synchronization, unified object information is synchronized with data pools, such as UCCnet and Transora, in a standard industrial format, then provided
    to trading partners.
Through these different ways of using the capabilities of SAP NetWeaver MDM, companies can structure a master data strategy around their data unification goals u2014 based on their unique business processes, organizational structure, or industry.

  • What is master data management

i want know clearly abut MDM in SAP.

    Hi naresh reddy  ,
    SAP NetWeaver MASTER DATA MANAGEMENT
SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management (SAP NetWeaver MDM) is an enabling foundation for enterprise services and business process management -- providing a single version of the truth for customer, product, employee, supplier, or user-defined data objects.
Working across heterogeneous systems at disparate locations, SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management ensures cross-system data consistency through interactive distribution. It integrates business processes across the extended value chain, delivering features and functions to enable:
Master data consolidation -- Consolidate master data for companywide analysis and reporting. SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management consolidates and cleanses master data objects from disparate systems. After consolidation, it stores information from different systems in a centralized repository. Related rich content can be included to augment the data store.
Synchronization and distribution of master data -- Enable consistent data maintenance and distribution to ensure permanent harmonization of master data. Using global attributes, you can ensure that all systems receive the same master data during distribution -- and enrich the distributed data objects with additional attribute values in the target systems. Distribution can be controlled, visible, and traceable, with active status management at each distribution step.
Centralized management of master data -- Supports companywide quality standards by ensuring that central control of master data begins as soon as the data is created. Centrally created master data can subsequently be distributed to client systems as required using interactive distribution.
Administration of master data -- Manage master data without custom code. A powerful interface supports administrative tasks such as data exception handling and assignment of role-based access to business processes and information. Data managers use the interface to configure data source merging, business rules, and distribution details to downstream applications.
Management of internal content -- Collect and centralize all your content -- including parametric information and rich content such as images, paragraphs of text, PDF documents, and organizational intelligence about content -- in an enterprisewide repository.
Catalog search -- Deploy intuitive interfaces that help you locate items internally, publish Web catalogs on e-commerce storefronts and in supplier enablement programs, and integrate easy-to-search catalogs into e-procurement solutions -- all from a centralized repository, and all at speeds surpassing normal SQL-based queries.
Print catalog customization -- Disseminate product information directly from a centralized catalog repository to popular desktop publishing programs, and automatically generate fully formatted and populated page layouts.
Multichannel syndication of product catalog content -- Publish restructured and reformatted extracts or incremental updates of your product catalog content -- and distribute them to trading partners in several delimited text and XML formats -- on an unscheduled or regular basis.
Business process support -- Enable communication in a heterogeneous environment, and insert master data into other systems.
Business analytics and reporting -- Leverage synchronized data for reliable analysis and accurate reporting.

  • What is master data and bussiness data

    Dear all
I am new guy of crm.
    I have some question.
What is master data and transaction data.
What is sold to party, ship to party.
    What is heirar key.
What is header data and item data.
    Regards
    Amit sahay

    Hi,
    Master Data
    Purpose
Data about basic objects used in business transactions and stored in the system on a long-term basis.
This area enables you to store, augment, and consolidate master data, while ensuring consistent distribution to all applications and systems within your IT landscape. By ensuring cross-system data consistency, master data management reduces data maintenance costs, accelerates your business processes, and greatly improves your decision-making processes.
    Business Transaction
    Definition
Business object in SAP CRM that offers the following possibilities:
    •        Business interaction with a business partner at a given point in time
    •        The result of an interaction (for example, a contract)
    •        The initiation of or request for an interaction (for example, an opportunity)
    •        The preparation (that is, the collection or supplementation of information) for a possible business interaction (for example, an activity)
    •        The product or object or a (potential) interaction (for example, a sales transaction or service process)
The same interface and processing concept is used for all business transactions. The various components of business transactions are reusable.
    Use
The business transaction provides business structures and functions that can be used in various processes of a company, for example, in sales, marketing, or service.
In CRM, business transactions are used in the following areas:
    •        Sales:
¡        Sales transactions (sales orders, inquiries and quotations)
    ¡        Opportunities
    ¡        Contracts
    •        Marketing:
    ¡        Lead Management
    •        Service
    ¡        Service Process
    ¡        Complaints
    ¡        Service Confirmation
    •         Activity Management
    ¡        Interactions
    ¡        Task Lists
Business transactions can be created, displayed, and processed in various channels.
A sales order can be created in Internet Sales, post processed in CRM Enterprise and then transferred to SAP ECC.
    Structure
Business transactions are structured as follows:
The structure of a business activity is based on the answers to three questions:
    Who?
The participating business partners can be entered at transaction level.
    What?
The products and services to which the business transaction refers can be entered at item level.
    When / How Much?
The quantity and the times to be considered can be scheduled at schedule line level.
This is a basic structure, and can differ for certain business transaction categories. Activities, for example, do not contain items or schedule lines. Sales transactions contain all three levels.
Similarly to the business transaction, the item category defines the characteristics and attributes of a transaction item, and controls the processing of an item.
    Integration
Various basic functions are linked with the business transactions and can be triggered from the interface for the business transaction if the relevant Customizing settings have been made. These include, for example, the availability check, pricing and partner determination. You can find more information in the SAP Library under mySAP CRM.
    See also:
You can find more information on the business transaction in the Implementation Guide (IMG) under Customer Relationship Management ® Transactions ® Basic Settings  ® Define Transaction Types and Define Item Categories.
Sold to party:'A' sells product to 'B'.Then "B' is the sold to party for 'A'
Ship To party:A ships(send to ) 'B'.Then  'B' is the ship to party to 'A'(In some scenarious the product can be deliverd eg:'C' then  the the ship to party varies

hi gurus what is master data & transaction data

    MASTER DATA
Master data are distributed throughout the company, they are often not standardised and often redundant. As a result it is very costly to offer efficient customer service, keep track of supply chains and make strategic decisions. With SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM) these important business data from across the company can be brought together, harmonised and made accessible to all staff and business partners. As a key component of SAP NetWeaver, SAP MDM ensures data integrity via all IT systems.
Regardless of the industry, companies often work with different ERP and Legacy systems. The result: the business processes are based on information about customers, partners and products which is displayed in different ways in the systems. If the data are recorded manually, there are more inconsistencies: some data sets are entered several times, others cannot be retrieved by all divisions of the company.
As corporate applications are becoming increasingly complex and produce ever greater amounts of data, the problem is intensified further. Nevertheless, your employees must work with the inconsistent data and make decisions on this basis. The lack of standardised master data easily leads to wrong decisions, which restrict efficiency and threaten customer satisfaction and profitability.
In a word: in order to save costs and ensure your company’s success it is necessary to consolidate master data about customers, partners and products, make them available to all employees beyond system boundaries and use attributes valid company-wide for the purpose of description.

  • What is master data and transactional data?

    Hi abapers,
I want to know the difference between master and transactional data?. What is the significane of both master and transactional data. At what situation master data is used, and at what situation transactional is used?. Please give me example of tables using them.

    Master Data:
Master data is data that remains unchanged over a period of time. It contains information that is always needed in the same way. For example, all personal attributes can be stored in various SAP standard infotypes as records with specific validity which are called Master data.
Master data are the critical nouns of a business and fall generally into four groupings: people, things, places, and concepts. Further categorizations within those groupings are called subject areas, domain areas, or entity types. For example, within people, there are customer, employee, and salesperson. Within things, there are product, part, store, and asset. Within concepts, there are things like contract, warrantee, and licenses. Finally, within places, there are office locations and geographic divisions. Some of these domain areas may be further divided. Customer may be further segmented, based on incentives and history. A company may have normal customers, as well as premiere and executive customers. Product may be further segmented by sector and industry.
    Transaction data:
Data relating to the day-to-day transactions.
    Reward if helpful.
    Thanks.

    Hi
    I can take a guess.
It means you can utilize Info Obj (IO) master data in reporting on ODS's.
    For example:
You have 0MATERIAL in an ODS, so when you use it in a
query you can bring its master data Attribute to that
report without any extra work (same as in a Cube), it
is very powerful feature for reporting.

  • What is Master data and how do I use ut

    Hi!
I am not familiar with the use of master data, so I need some help please...
    1. What is masterdata?
    2. When do I use Masterdata?
    3. How does masterdata works technicaly?
    3. Can someone give me an example on us of masterdata
    Thanks

    Dear Helge..
1.Master data is one which doesnot change frequently...for ex...our name..Master data is data that remains unchanged over a long period of time.
    2. Master data contains information that is needed again and again in the same way
3.Master data contains texts,,attributes and hierarchies.
For ex..Person ID,Person Name can be maintained  as master data...
The technically validations can be explained in Star Schema..which uses dimension Tables and SID 's as main parameters..
    some Points:
When you create a characteristic InfoObject, it is possible to assign attributes, texts, hierarchies, or a combination of this master data to the characteristic. If a characteristic bears master data, you can edit it in the BI system in master data maintenance.
    Hope this heps u...
    Assign points if needful,,

  • Master Data - What is it?

This is a very odd but basic question - What is master data in HCM? I need to be able to identify master data (not config data and not transactional data I think) to create data designs of standard SAP data (designs that govern the purpose and use of the data, who's responsible, etc).
The definition I'm given for master data is:
Master data is the fundamental business data in an enterprise and defines the business objects and classifications that describe overall business information. It is generally unchanging, although major additions / changes may occur when new company are added, and are used across multiple applications.
To me - master data is contained on the infotypes. Is there a good way to find this using the data modeler in SAP - tcode: SD11? I was given a list by somone who used SD11 - but it isn't necessarily accurate because it includes many items/entities that are not on the info type screens, nor can I necessarily find them in config - so I'm not sure what they are other than 'attributes' to the higher object.
Thanks for any input you can give me.

For this you need to know the activities done in HCM.
For eg, if you take SD(Sales and Distribution), the activities involved are generating sales orders, deliveries invoice etc. Now lets take Sales Order:
Sales Order  tells about a transaction(a business deal) happend between two parties. Let say, Party A sold a material M (arount 10 units) to Party B.
Now, the same sales order, in order to generate, I need information about the parties and material. Only then, i can generate the sales order.
So here Material and Parties are the master data and business deal happend using these master datas are called transaction data.
    Hope this helps..
    Thanks
    Vj
