What is, "Motion Calibration" and why is it always running?

I recently upgraded from a 4s to a 6 so a lot of things are new to me. But why is, "Motion Calibration" running 24/7 in Location Services? Won't that nuke my battery?

I think I might be able to answer this now, although it may be a little late in coming. The reason this setting was introduced was probably not to determine how many steps you take, but to correlate it more specifically to your distance. It must have been introduced when Apple started work on the Watch and realized they couldn't put GPS into it to measure distance running.
Instead, blurbs on Apple's site say that the watch learns what your stride is based on a few runs with your iPhone. Because there is no third-party app the Watch can tap into in order to measure this, this setting must have been placed there in order for a user to be able to have these measurements ready for when they do purchase and pair their Watch with their iPhone. The Watch would then be immediately able to access both walking and running distance that had been measured more accurately by the iPhone for months. If you deactivate it, you can still get a very accurate step count, but the distance is a guesstimate based on your height. With Location Services enabled, Apple can measure distance much better, and this aids the fitness experience in the Apple Watch.

What is error -1 , and why can't I run any daq vi's

I want to use my LAB-PC+ card for
data acquisition on a win 3.1 system with labview 3.0.1. We are using NiDaq 4.6.1.
Checking the card with WDAQCONF
shows it passes the tests and can read
voltages without error.
However when trying to use the DAQ
vi's , Labview either gives error -1, error -10240, or crashes. Why would this be?

the reason you are able to configure and test your Lab-PC+ is because you are using ni-daq 4.6.1, a driver version that does support your daq board. However, labview 3.0.1 does not work with ni-daq 4.6.1. That is why you are getting warning -10240 which occurs when the driver interface can either not locate or open the driver. Warning -1 also comes up when there is a communication issue, again in your case its due to the incompatibility of your driver version with labview 3.0.1.
You need labview 3.1.x in order to be able to use it with ni-daq 4.6.1. I would actually highly recommend that you upgrade your labview version to our latest version 6. That way you can use your card on a newer windows machine (i.e. win 9x, 2000 or NT) along with our newer ni-daq driv

Photo/Video editing PC build; what would you change and why?

I'm in the planning phase of my first photo/video editing PC build. I've done quite a bit of research to this point, and I've finally come to a decision on all of the components (I think). After seeing how helpful everyone is on this forum, I decided to post my plan and see what everyone thinks.
Miscellaneous info: I am an amateur photographer looking to expand my horizons and venture into the video realm. I will be running Windows 7 64bit with Adobe CS5 Production Premium and Lightroom 3 on a singe solid state drive and everything else will be on a 3 drive RAID 0 config. Eventually I plan on purchasing a RAID card and a few more drives for a RAID 3 (or 5) config, but that won't be for a while.

I might be a bit late, but wanted to let you know about motherboard software RAID configs (at least mine):
I have an older system running an ASUS P5AD2-E Premium MB containing a Silicon Image 3114 RAID chip. I originally configured a RAID 10 array with four 74 G Raptors for speed and redundancy. Figured if I lost a disc, I could just rebuid the array. Come to find out, the Sil 3114 chip does not support rebuilding the RAID 10 array.
I had lost a disc (disc was okay, just power to the disc was interupted) so was running on three. Fixed my power problem, went to rebuild the array and couldn't. So I figured what is the point of having a RAID 10 that I couldn't rebuild. Went to a RAID 0 with a backup disk.
Never checked the documentation to see if software RAID 5 through the SIl 3114 was rebuildable.
Mind you, I am not a computer guru nor all knowledgable about software/harware based RAID configs. But after talking to others who are the guru's, I found that I should stay away from the motherboard software RAID arrays and they mirror what Harm said about hardware RAID boards. But on a budget, the RAID 0 with a backup drive works for me.
Just my 2 cents to help.

AirPort Utility is required to configure an Apple AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule.
Time Machine can use a Time Capsule or a locally connected volume. You only need to use AirPort Utility if you are using a Time Capsule.

Thanks for that clarification. So, now it appears that the ultimate purpose of a Smart Mailbox is to point to all emails that meet the criteria in a single place, so if they are spread among several mailboxes, you will be able to see them all together. Here is an article from Apple that describes it:
A Smart Mailbox displays in one location messages that are stored in other mailboxes, so you don’t have to move messages between mailboxes. The messages displayed by a Smart Mailbox are based on criteria you define, and are automatically updated to include new messages that match your criteria. For example, you might create a Smart Mailbox that displays all messages found in all mailboxes from a specific sender.
If you change a message in a Smart Mailbox, such as marking the message as read or unread, or moving or deleting the message, the change is reflected in the mailbox where the message is actually stored.
So, adam, I would think that, if you had mail going to a lot of different places, and wanted to be able to see a particular set of those in a single place, you would use a smart mailbox. Maybe use the rules to direct your mail to different places to start with, but a smart mailbox to bring a set of common ones all together into a single smart mailbox?
Maybe you have Rules move your Amazon mail to an Amazon folder and your Apple mail to an Apple folder, but then you have a Smart Mailbox that contains any mail that has the word "Receipt" in the Subject line?

After creating the mask and applying adjustment, you can also adjust and change layer mask using selection tools or, the most common way, using brush tools.
To have a more accurate preview of what are you doing, Alt + click on the layer mask thumbnail to show the mask in the image area.
At this point, you will have a layer mask on your screen in large view, so it is easy to fine tune it, but you wont see how that affects your image.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

What Is Memeo Backup and why is it on my MacBook Pro w/ Snow Leopard? Does it slow down my Mac? Seems like someting has slowed down my Downloads, Updates, Backups, etc. & I don't know how to locate the source or how to fix. Any Wizards avail to share some Wisdom? If this is really Memeo Backup and you want to get rid of it for a better backup program like Carbon Copy Cloner the the following shows all the stuff that Memeo Backup installer installs (based on Memeo Backup 2.5.141 which I found with a google search and downloaded):
The primary file to disable Memeo Backup would be that file in LaunchDaemons. Remove it and reboot and the rest is just taking up disk space.

AVG reports these sqlite cookies each time firefox starts. they usually belong to tribalfusion or some other tracker. How do I block them in the first place. I thought firefox is a safe browser. Did not have this problem until I upgraded to 3.6.

TC has to check to see which files need to be backed up. So its going thru the file directory and looking for any changes since the last backup. Do you have a lot of files on your Mac to check? Or are they just a small number but very large. If its the former, then that might be the culprit.

What is "Directory Service" and why does it "use up 194%" on my istat CPU app monitor?
Ever since I installed Leopard I've noticed this happening more and more - especially when I install an external hard drive or unplug my ethernet line - this is plainly weird and never happened under Tiger - the temperature shoots up to 84° also - I always to a restart to get rid of it but it's kind of worrying....anybody have any ideas?

Had this happen myself.
It does have something to do with Spotlight/searching. Should go away after a while, or so I have heard from other users, 'cause it hasn't stopped driving me and my fan mad yet.
Am going to have my MacBook index and follow-up on indexing and whatever else it feels is necessary to finally allow me to search in peace over the weekend while locking it away where I can't hear it.
Hopefully that does the trick.
If it wasn't for things working better/faster and most things looking better I might actually consider taking Leopard off again ...

Query as a Web Service (QaaWS) is a SAP Business Objects (BOBJ) client-side tool that allows users to create and publish Web Services that can be made available over the Web. Once these web services are created and published, they can be consumed like any other standard Web Service in software applications including Xcelsius and Crystal Reports. But first we have to understand what exactly is a Web Service.
Web Service
A Web Service is a software system that supports interoperable interaction over a network from one computer or machine to another but is more commonly defined as a client and a server communicating data over the Web using the HTTP Protocol. Using Web Services along with Business Objects allows a live connection of data to be used in applications such as Xcelsius and Crystal Reports through a semantic layer called a Universe.
Query as a Web Service (QaaWS)
