What is my AT&T email address?

Previously, I was using my Sidekick through T-Mobile and it had an email address ([email protected]). I could send/receive email on this address from anywhere on the 'net.
I would like to know if there is something similar to this, an AT&T email address if you will. I understand that if I configure my iPhone to use Yahoo or Gmail I can use those accounts but that doesn't work for me. I just want a separate email address for my iPhone that is not hooked into any other provider.
Does AT&T provide email accounts for their phones? I would expect it to be something like [email protected] but cannot seem to find anything on their website. They mention things for the Blackberry and some of their other phones, but nothing for the iPhone or just accounts in general.
BTW: When did the Discussions search engine go away? You can no longer search just a specific forum?! Boo!

Everything I've tried so far has just been a SMS gateway. I guess I'll settle for that instead of a real email address.
I do have several "free" email accounts (Yahoo!, Google, Hotmail, etc.) but I was thinking that it would be nice to have an iPhone account to keep it separate. After thinking about it though, it might be better to just use one of the free accounts. After all, I really don't need another mailbox to check. Maybe just using the iPhone as an access device is better. Now if it only supported Gmail properly with tagging and such. Ahhh... one can dream.
Thanx!
Richard

  • What are valid and invalid email address characters

What are valid and invalid email address characters in Exchange 2010, for example can you have Conan.O'[email protected] is there a document that shows the valid and invalid sysmbols?

    Hi
The format of email addresses is
local-part@domain where the local-part may be up to 64 characters long and the
    domain name may have a
maximum of 253 characters - but the maximum 256 characters length of a forward or reverse path restricts the entire email address to be no more than 254 characters.[1]
The formal definitions are in RFC 5322 (sections 3.2.3
and 3.4.1) and RFC 5321 - with a more readable form given in
    the informational RFC 3696[2]
    and the associated errata.
    Local part
The local-part of the email address may use any of these
    ASCII characters
    RFC 5322 Section
    3.2.3:
Uppercase and lowercase English letters (a–z, A–Z) (ASCII: 65-90, 97-122)
    Digits
    0 to
    9 (ASCII: 48-57)
    Characters
    !#$%&'*+-/=?^_`{|}~ (ASCII: 33, 35-39, 42, 43, 45, 47, 61, 63, 94-96, 123-126)
    Character
. (dot, period, full stop) (ASCII: 46) provided that it is not the first or last character, and
provided also that it does not appear two or more times consecutively (e.g. [email protected] is not allowed.).
Special characters are allowed with restrictions. They are:
    o
    Space and
    "(),:;<>@[\] (ASCII: 32, 34, 40, 41, 44, 58, 59, 60, 62, 64, 91-93)
The restrictions for special characters are that they must only be used when contained between quotation marks, and that 3 of them (The
    space, backslash \ and
quotation mark " (ASCII: 32, 92, 34)) must also be preceded by a backslash
    \ (e.g.
A quoted string may exist as a dot separated entity within the local-part, or it may exist when the outermost quotes are the outermost characters of the local-part
    (e.g. abc."defghi"[email protected] or
    "abcdefghixyz"@example.com are allowed. Conversely,
abc"defghi"[email protected] is not; neither is
abc\"def\"[email protected]). Quoted strings and characters however, are not commonly used.
    RFC 5321 also
warns that "a host that expects to receive mail SHOULD avoid defining mailboxes where the Local-part requires (or uses) the Quoted-string form".
The local-part "postmaster" is treated specially - it is case-insensitive, and should be forwarded to the server's administrator. Technically all other local-parts
are case sensitive, therefore [email protected] and [email protected] specify different mailboxes. However most organizations treat uppercase and lowercase letters as equivalent, and also do not allow use of the technically valid characters
(space, ? and ^). Organizations are free to restrict the forms of their own email addresses as desired, e.g.,
    Windows Live Hotmail,
for example, only allows creation of email addresses using alphanumerics, dot (.), underscore (_)
    and hyphen (-).[3]
Systems that send mail must be capable of handling outgoing mail for all valid addresses. Contrary to the relevant standards, some defective systems treat certain
legitimate addresses as invalid and fail to handle mail to these addresses. Hotmail, for example, refuses to send mail to any address containing any of the following standards-permissible characters:
    !#$%*/?^`{|}~
    Domain part
The domain name part of an email address has to conform to strict guidelines: it must match the requirements for a
    hostname,
consisting of letters, digits, hyphens and dots. In addition, the domain part may be an
    IP address
literal, surrounded by square braces, such as jsmith@[192.168.2.1], although this is rarely seen except
    in email spam.
    Examples
    Valid email addresses
    <tt>[email protected]</tt>
    <tt>[email protected]</tt>
    <tt>[email protected]</tt>
    <tt>much."more\ unusual"@example.com</tt>
    <tt>very.unusual."@"[email protected]</tt>
    <tt>very."(),:;<>[]".VERY."very@\\\ \"very"[email protected]</tt>
    Invalid email addresses
<tt>Abc.example.com</tt> (an @ character must separate the local and domain parts)
<tt>[email protected]</tt> (character dot(.) is last in local part)
<tt>[email protected]</tt> (character dot(.) is double)
<tt>A@b@[email protected]</tt> (only one @ is allowed outside quotation marks)
<tt>a"b(c)d,e:f;g<h>i[j\k][email protected]</tt> (none of the special characters in this local part
    is allowed outside quotation marks)
<tt>just"not"[email protected]</tt> (quoted strings must be dot separated, or the only element making
    up the local-part)
<tt>this is"not\[email protected]</tt> (spaces, quotes, and backslashes may only exist when within
quoted strings and preceded by a slash)
<tt>this\ still\"not\\[email protected]</tt> (even if escaped (preceded by a backslash), spaces, quotes,
and backslashes must still be contained by quotes)

  • I am giving up my primary email address. i want to use what is now my rescue email address as primary. what steps do i take?

i am giving up my primary email address. i want to use what is now my rescue email address as primary. what steps do i take?

You will need to remove the address as your rescue email address first, which you can do by logging into your account via http://appleid.apple.com, selecting the Password & Security section and answering the security questions.
Changing rescue email address : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5620
You can then try putting it as your primary email address, which you can do either via that site, by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone and logging into, or via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes. If you don't do it directly on your phone you might then need to log out of your account by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in with the updated version.

  • What is a password recovery email address

    Hi,
I am looking at the info page on setting up clien email http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/partner/setup-pop-imap-email-accounts.html in the Creat email accounts for users section, it says, "Enter the new user email address, name and password recovery email address."  What is the password recovery email address?  Also would the new user email address be the users name@my_domain_name.com?  Thanks.
    Barbara Parkman

    Hi Barbara,
Keep in mind the Muse webBasic plans do not include email.
The password recovery email address is an email address that they could have their password emailed to in case they forget it. Obviously sending it to the same email address wouldn't work as they wouldn't be able to get it.
Yes, the email address would be @clientdomain.com ....
As a side note I recommend hosting the email with where ever they bought the domain from and only use Business CAtalyst for the site itself.
    Here is why ...

  • I would like to change my apple ID to what is apparently my "recovery" email address but I don't see any option to change my recovery email (gmail). Whats up with that?

Why do I not see an option to change my recovery email? I would like to use what appearently is my current "recovery" email as my new Apple ID but ID manager will not let me.

If you mean your rescue email address, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312:
You can edit or delete your rescue email address at My Apple ID. To edit your rescue email address:
Navigate to My Apple ID using your web browser.
    Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
Note: The option to send an email to reset your security questions and answers will not be available if a rescue email address is not provided. You will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to do so.
After you've validated your identity by correctly answering your security questions, click Edit to the right of your rescue email address.

  • What is suffix for iphone email address to receive texts?

    Hey all,
This should be an easy question to answer... what is my "device address?" For example... I'm trying to set up alerts online through my bank and they need to know how to send me a text message. They want the full address, not just my phone number. What is the email suffix for att? There are discrepancies online when I google for the answer. Is it [email protected]?
    Thanks all!!

That's correct! It is your 10 digit phone number (at) txt.att.net
    That will work.

  • ICloud family email account? Don't understand what happens to the other email addresses.

After updating my devices to ios5 I was going to move to iCloud. Got message that not all email accounts would forward (I have family plan with multiple email accounts), and I don't really understand what I need to do to get everything moved to iCloud.

You can move the master and sub accounts on a Mobileme Family Plan individually to iCloud: each account needs to move separately, going to http://me.com/move and will become an individual and separate iCloud account. This can be done in any order, but obviously if you move the master account first you can no longer use it to administer the sub-accounts; and if you move a sub-account first you can't create a new sub-account to replace it.
The master account will get the free extension to 20GB until 30 June 2012; the sub-accounts won't.

That means that the email account you wanted to use is already being used by another Apple ID, so you need to remove that email account from the Apple ID which is using it.

  • HT1920 I am trying to sign on an old Apple ID through iTunes and it is likely that the email address I used has been closed down. I can not remember the password due to using a new apple ID I frequently use. How else can I retrieve my password or sign in?

I have an old Apple ID I have been trying to log in to retrieve permission for the songs I have bought for my iTunes. However due to it being an old ID, I have forgotten the password and from what I can remember, the email address I used for security was closed down. I am aware that I can go through security questions and when asked for my D.O.B, I have a feeling I never adjusted my settings in the Apple ID account therefore can not get past that question either.
    Please help!

I have purchased music, apps, or books with multiple Apple IDs. How can I get all of this content onto my iOS device?

First, you need to copy all of your purchased content so it is on the same Mac or PC with iTunes. This computer should be the one you sync your device with. For more information on how to move your content, see these articles:
Mac:  iTunes for Mac: How to copy purchases between computers

Next, authorize your computer to play content with each Apple ID in iTunes. Once your computer is authorized for all your content, it can be synced to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

  • Is there a way for me to stop the iPad from automatically storing an email address I send mail to that is not in my contacts?

The iPad seems to automatically store email addresses for ease of use. But what if there are ever email addresses for privacy reasons that I do not want the device to remember? Can I stop the device from storing addresses that I do not specifically or manually store in my contacts list?

    No. Sorry.

  • Best Practises for Email Addresses?

    Hi Guys,
Are there any best practise guides / documents / etc. for configuring user's E-mail addresses? We have a large turnaround of users and obviously sometimes they have the same name as previous/current employees (we
do not delete any old accounts / mailboxes.) My question is whether or not it is OK to use numbers in an email address (i.e. [email protected])?
    Thanks

    Hi,
It's OK to use numbers in an email address.
The format of email addresses is local-part@domain where the local-part may be up to 64 characters long and the domain name may have a maximum of 253 characters.

Character . (dot, period, full stop) (ASCII: 46) provided that it is not the first or last character, and provided also that it does not appear two or more times consecutively (e.g. John..[email protected] is not allowed.).
Special characters are allowed with restrictions. They are:
           Space and "(),:;<>@[\] (ASCII: 32, 34, 40, 41, 44, 58, 59, 60, 62, 64, 91-93)

  • My email address has shown up on my background and I can't get rid of it.

Not sure what I did, but my email address has shown up on my background.  I can't move it to the side, or delete it.  I can drag a box around it, as if it is in a text box?  But I can't delete it.  I can't highlight it either.  It's like a ghost:)  It just sits there unaccessible.
I have a Macbook Pro and using Yosemite.
Thank-you for any suggestions you can give me.

    Your Desktop?
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist and com.apple.finder.plist. Move the .plists to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting and test. If it works okay, delete the plists from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plists to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

  • HT2486 HOw do I transfer contact numbers and email address from my Mac to my new iphone?

How do I transfer contact numbers and email address from my Mac to my new iphone?

Connect your iPhone 4S to your Mac using the iPhone’s USB cable, and then use iTunes to transfer your contacts from to the iPhone. (An alternate way is to use iCloud.)
I’m not sure what you mean by “transferring email address” from the Mac to the iPhone. But if you mean you want to access your email from the Mac and the iPhone, the best way is to configure your email account over IMAP in Mail on both devices.

  • No email addresses with web site hosting?

From what information I've seen, email addresses are not included in the web hosting part of creative cloud? Why? I think many of assume that's included in most ISP hosting plans, whether or not it's charged for separately. If true, I hope Adobe will consider, along with databases, etc.

    Hi,
As part of your Creative Cloud package you get access to 5 webBasics websites, which indeed do not include e-mail.
However, our offering has several other plan options, for webCommerce or webMarketing for example, that include e-mail accounts. You can always upgrade your website separately to any of these plans.
