What is my iPad's MAC Address?

My household network only allows known (registered) MAC addresses to transceive through the wireless router. How do I obtain the MAC address for my new iPad so that I can enter it into the router's table of allowed devices? Why wasn't the MAC address displayed prominently in the documentation?

I would imagine (since I don't have one) that it is located in the same area as the iPhone. Go to settings>about>look at the WiFi address. That is the MAC address.

  • HT1695 ipad mini mac address for setup

Anyone know how to get the iPad Mini MAC address when first setting up the device?  I have a MAC filtering on the WiFi and it seems I can't either skip the setup or find out what the MAC address is.  This is annooying since I know I can't be the only one who has run into this.
Why can't i find out the MAC address when setting up the logon and why am I forced to set up networking?  Can I please have one of two solutions available?

I have the same problem. Did you get an answer for that?

  • IPad Wifi MAC address

Hi, somehow I screwed up the mac address thing. I didn't take note of my original mac address. How can I find back the original mac address and change it back?

The MAC address on your device doesn't and cannot change. What exactly are you trying to do?
To see your device's MAC address (again, this cannot change):
    Settings/General/About
The MAC address will be listed here as "Wi-Fi Address" (they are the same thing, just using different terminology)

  • Lost iPad 2, Mac address help!

I lost my iPad 2 and would like to know if it is still at my house. I have a list of Mac addresses that are connected to my router, but I do not know which one it would be. Could anyone provide me with info on this problem-anything is appreciated.

First, don't lose faith yet, and don't put undeserved faith in the knowledge and tech savvy of the thief who, probably opportunistically, wound up with your iPad. It may simply be sitting in some other location for a while, much like car thieves park stolen cars known to be equipped with tracking systems, in a secure location for a while to see if someone does track it and show up. Or, it's simply never yet been turned on again. Or, as has happened before, it's been languishing in a forgotten corner of some Lost & Found department.
As for the rest, sure ..... they could do all that, but they absolutely should not. In the same way that the cellphone companies can track the location of a cellphone, but don't divulge that idea to anyone who requests it, in the same way that OnStar and LoJack don't do that same thing, in the same way that the police don't let you keep track of your Uncle Vinnie's GPS tracking collars. It's not Apple's business, they don't belong in that business, and it's really not their responsibilty to insure us against the vagaries of carelessness and pure bad luck.
If you've backed up your work then at least that part of your loss will be mitigated. If not, well, there's no new lessons to be learned from that, aside perhaps from the one that working on a new platform doesn't automatically result in much of a paradigm shift.

  • What happened to IOS 8 MAC Address randomisation?

Using an iPhone 5S upgraded to IOS 8, after testing using Kismet and other pen-test tools I have found there is no MAC address randomisation by my device.  Is this a feature yet to be released or is my iPhone playing up?

    Robert,
Thanks for the reply; that had crossed my mind so I performed a Kismet capture during a 35 mile drive.  Lots of probes were captured from my iPhone which was consistently sending out the same MAC address (the one listed under device settings) each time.  It should be noted that the captured probes didn't contain any wireless access point SSIDs.  This isn't the answer unfortunately.
Once again thanks for the effort.

  • WGA54G V1 mac address is somehow changed. And i can't get the dns to wor.k.

    I have an old WGA54G. V 1.0, I think.
I pulled it ou to use it.  I plugged it all in and into ethernet on my switch, it booted up ok and it was connected to my dsl router.
I noticed it's MAC address in my router.Same as the sticker.
    So all that worked.
I went into it with it's IP address and it all looked normal, it had it's own MAC address listed on the web UI and all.
I put in my local wep key and told it to connect to my wireless so I could take it and plug it into the XBOX 360 in the livingroom.
That all seemed to work OK too. It connected to the wireless. So far so good Then it became unresponsive.  Now this is connected to ethernet and also wireless.
    Connection timed out
But then I noticed the MAC address listed on the web UI is well, mostly blank.
    1f:c0:00:00:00:00
I looked in the router again and it's listed as being connected wired and the MAC is correct.
So what's up with this mac address as listed on the web UI?
How can that be changed back to normal?
I reflashed the unit to the latest firmware.
I hooked it to the Xbox 360
The Xbox 360 liked it and asked me what the wep key was, all of which I had put on that unit before I hooed it to the xbox 360.  But it connected.
It seemed ok but it couldn't get an IP from the DHCP so I gave it one outside my DHCP range. Then it complained it couldn't get DNS from the router.  So I gave it the google public DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.  Then it complained it couldnt' find Xbox Live in DNS.  I tried my ISPs dns.  Same error.
Can anyone shed light on this?  Am i doing something wrong?

Did you reset the WGA54G after updating it with the latest firmware? It is recommended to reset the device after upgrading the firmware. Try to reset the WGA54G.
Here is the steps to reset the router:
Push the reset button on WGA54G for 30 seconds, turn off the WGA54G wait for 30 seconds and then power it on. Power light should blink when you perform the reset process.
Before trying to connect your Wireless-G Game Adapter to a wireless network, please know the following: SSID, Wireless Security and/or Network Key. Make sure that the Xbox™ works when wired to the router before proceeding.

  • Ethernet Mac Address suddenly changed

    Hello all.
I experienced a really unexpected issue today when I connected my laptop as I do every day when I get to work, but found that I had no access to any of my servers / sites that I usually connect to.
When I checked my network configuration on the Network System Preferences pane, noticed that my IP (assigned by DHCP) has changed... As if this was not enough, I reviewed the "Advanced..." settings and then the "Hardware" tab to check my mac address and noticed that the one being showed, did not match the one I had saved on my records.
I'm very aware that there are software that changes the NICs mac address at will, but I have not installed any of this software on my machine.
As additional information, I connect my laptop through an Avaya telephone / extention and it has been resetted recently because I found that my telephone had an error showing on its display screen and I incline to think that the issue with my phone may have had something to do with my mac address change.
For the record, the new mac address assigned is 00:01:01:22:1d:64
Please any help will be really appreciated.
    Thank you so much.
    Renato

    Another odd behaviour yesterday:
As many of other ML users out there, I'm experiencing frequent crashes when I quicklook a link inside Apple Mail. That was the case yesterday when I tried to preview a link without opening Safari, my Macbook panicked and rebooted... The surprise was that when the machine was up again, guess what? The ethernet's mac address changed again but this time went back to it's original number
Problem solved? I don't think so, but there is something that is messing around with my system at the lowest level... I have thought about voltage peaks on the ethernet cable, even a (Mac) virus, I'm lost here.
I examined the console logs but to be honest, I don't even know what or where to look for...
A hardware test will be a start.

  • Mac Address and Ip

Hello, i was just wondering, is there a way to tell what mac address will be asigned to a specific ip? like what ip goes with which mac address for your isp.

I can try to answer your question even though...it's a bit odd.
    1.  Every network device has its own MAC address.
    2.  ISP only cares (usually for residential) about a single MAC address, which is the modem.  Pretty much any modem can be access to find it's MAC address.
    3.  Some IPs, like Comcast, are set to a PCs specific MAC address for connectivity.  Meaning, they know your modem, then they'll lock down to your PCs MAC address.  You can find that, if Windows, Start > Run >> type cmd, Dos window appears >> type ipconfig/all   <-- This will give you MAC address at Physical address (the network card of your PC.
In this manner, the ISP assigns IP address to you (client) via your PCs MAC address.  This is what would be known as the WAN side.
It is different on the LAN side.  Some modems can act as routers, or a separate router is installed downstream of the modem.  The router in this case handles all IP address for all connected network devices.  These are termed to be the private network aka LAN (interchangeable terms).
The router is used then to set an IP address to each network device via their MAC address.  This is one way to do it.
It's also possible to assign an IP address by telling a PC to USE a specifc IP address.
    Hope this helps!

  • IP address Confilct with Mac Address

I have a windows server domain within which I have four mac users, three of them are using the latest version of leopard and all of them are having the same problem. This has happened three times (twice since I have worked here) and I have not seen any real resolution to the problem. The error I get "IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is in use by the following mac address" happens for no apparent reason. I know very well that the IP address is not in use, and whats more is that the mac address that is said to be in conflict bound to the four diffrent IP addresses is the same on all four computers. This does not make any sense, how can diffrent IP addresses be in conflict with a device that is said to use the same mac address.
I have identified that the mac address is given to a trunk port on one of my cisco switches. I know the switch does not conflict with the IP addresses.

    is in the same path:

  • How to make mac address gmail contacts overwrite the ones on my HTC Android phone - I don't want to sync - that makes the phone scramble and overwrite my computer.  I want to remove or correctly overwrite the phone information as I have done with iPad.

Please help - I am beginning to hate google, my android and gmail.  I have just wasted about 5 hours in a futile attempt to try and get my current Mac contacts list on my computer updated to my phone. I'm not that computer literate but I have looked up about google phone accounts, vCards, backing up contact lists, what SD on phones are, and God know what else.  I have searched the internet and tried all sorts of things and I still have a mac with a now correct contact list (after the iPad contacts scrambled it and I spent ages manually correcting them all) and a phone with an outdated contact list.  If you try and sync them the phone wants to overwrite the computer one just like the iPad did (would it be so **** hard to give you a choice on the phone as to which overwrites which!).  After all the  advice on the internet failed, I got the bright idea to completely delete all the ones on the phone and if it was empty of contacts the computer one could be exported to it.  Not as simple as it sounds.  First I backed up (I think) my computer contacts list. Numerous futile attempts to go through the phone options to globally delete all contacts did not work - they gave a warning message and you got to choose whether to continue or not, I did, and it looked like it might be working as it changed to zero data on the phone, but then they all popped back up again from God knows where from, but without their little added bits like pictures of the people.  So, I tried un- syncing the darn phone from  google and then deleting them globally.  That didn't work either.  I tried deleting them  all again and again and google would crash and not let me do it. It is absolutely ridiculous that this is so damned difficult to do (especially if you are not computer savvy) and that you cannot choose which device overwrites which when syncing. I gave up and ticked sync with Google again (not that it appears to do anything to the phone contact list at all).  So after 5 hours I am back to where I started from, with a phone showing all the same  incorrect contacts (but the pictures are back), which wants to overwrite the computer if I try any sort of sync, and no way to fix them except go into each one manually and try and do it - and how long would that take (and I've already wasted hours and hours fixing scrambled contact lists!).  I think I will do a print out of the computer contact list and just carry it around with me like an address book - so much bloody simpler.  So now I have a headache, am fighting an overwhelming urge to hurl the phone at the wall,  hoping for a heat wave to evaporate icloud things and am wishing I had bought an iPhone instead of the stupid HTC Android.  Can any one offer me any suggestions on how to get rid of the contacts on my phone and replace them with the ones in my mac address list - hopefully after that  they can sync to their hearts content and not stuff everything up again (which was why I unsynced google a while back - because the phone's list kept making stuff ups and scrambling and duplicating my computer contacts list).  Am I the only one on the planet having this problem or is there someone else out there who has had it and solved it.

Without "pretending" to be yourself on the other phone (change settings) there's nothing else you can do.
iOS devices are meant to be single user and can't view iCloud.com the same way a Mac or PC can do.
You need to find a desktop or laptop machine (Mac or PC) to log in at iCloud.

  • HT4061 I downloaded an iTunes update on my HP.  PC and restarted the computer for the hangers to take effect. Now my pc is locked up.  It gives me a client Mac address and no boot file name received.  What happened, and how do I get my pc back?

I downloaded an iTunes update and when ashen I restarted my pc it locked up.  It says client Mac address 001320bead25,   PXE E53  No boot file name received.  PXE MOF.  Exiting Broadcom pie rom.   How do I get my pc back!

When you installed iTunes on your work computer, then connected your iPad to that computer, it wiped what was on the iPad, then put the iTunes library (nothing) from the work computer onto the iPad. You can try copying the iTunes folder from your home computer over to your work computer, but since the apps were bought with a different account, they may not load or update properly.

  • What good is it to have a router that doesn't block mac addresses like its supposed too!!!

what good is it to have a router that doesn't block mac addresses like its supposed too!!!

At 10:30pm I think I'd like to talk this out....Lemme give you some more details and lets get some hardware programmers involved. I think this is a cross-platform conflict or at the remote a outdated hardware problem. What do you need from me to track this issue down? I have been patient and have waited over 1yr or maybe 2, waiting for an update to correct this issue. Alas, there has been no solution to this problem. I have 13 seperate MAC addy's on the network. 1 wired and the the rest wireless(some constant, others random). All on a schedule(some timed access, some all the time). I have macBooks, Labtops, Desktops, Ipads, Ipods, DSIs, Windows7, WindowsXP Pro, PS3, AppleTV and a few random BlueTooths. Not that much.
Anyways, I think somehow there is a hole because of cross-platfom compatability that is making my daughter able to get on the net unless I change the wireless password......
No I have no proof...It's just a feeling

Hello, we have a Mac and an ipad, the Mac is working and wifi is on and the ipad's wifi is on too, but Ipad Safari can not open the page because it could not connect to the server, does any one know that?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.
