Why Firefox 5 opening the "What's new" page every time I start the browser?

I have Firefox betas since version firefox 4 beta 1, so when it's updated to version 5, I uninstalled firefox, and install the clean version 5 with my saved settings.
Everything went okay, started the browser and it searched for addon compatibility, opened up the What's new page. But now it is for every start, so it's very annoying.
I tried clean the mess but nothing changed.
How can i solve this? thanks, and sorry for my english

the Windows Update issue was likely caused by KB2647753. it's a known Microsoft issue and it needs to be installed all by itself, then all of the others should succeed. please see the Community KB:

regarding what to allow TVSU to install, pretty much everything is safe, depending on your needs, but i would strongly recommend *not* allowing it to attempt to do any BIOS updates, if they're offered. my advice is to approach those cautiously and, if you choose to do, use the bootable CD method.

New Site First Steps

While I realize everyone works differently, I was wondering
if there are specific steps experienced developers use when
developing a site/page. My question centers primaily on entering
content first and then styling with CSS or setting up the styles
and then applying them to the content. In my specific case, I know
95% of the content I will be using and I also have thought through
the styles I want, particularly things such as font, font color,
hx, etc. I know there will be adjustments to the styles as I work
but would like to know how others approach this question.

I think about how to construct the site first and spend a
good deal of
time trying to work out what is going to happen to the design
should 'x'
happen or 'y' happen. When I'm satisfied that I have assessed
various
diffrenent approaches/options I'll set about writing the
unstyled main
structure code.
I'll get the main structure up and running, test it
cross-browser then
add more unstyled content and style it. Thats it really. Just
add more
content, style it, tweak it, add more content etc etc, until
its finished.

New MBP First Steps & Stumble

Just started using the new Macbook Pro I purchased and all was well until Update started installing the Intel OS 10.4.7 update. The system froze solid and that's the way it stayed for 45 minutes until my impatience took over and I powered-down.
From there, it was all downhill. System would not boot beyond the opening Apple screen and the spinning hashes. A hardware test and boot from the install CD was okay, so I figured that I'd reinstall and try again.
So I did! Repeated the same procedure and poof, same thing happened until I realized that maybe I should just run the Intel update and then worry about the others later.
That was the magic bullet. So, if you are prompted to update your MBP, my experience is to run the Intel 10.4.7 update alone and then update everything else after the reboot.

This is often a wise move.
It is also a good idea to repair permissions before and after and install.
Another option is to manually download (not through software update) the latest combo installer for your machine and run it from the download.

To import bookmarks from Safari, Help says to select Import from the File menu, but there is no Import option there. What then is the first step to import Safari bookmarks?.

I was reading from the Help menu which does provide the warning that the material may be outdated since it is not supported.

The Import option has been moved from the File menu to the Library window; that article needs to be revised.

Nothing silly about it if you want it, and if it suits your purposes or uses. Your choice really - the only one you need satisfy or justify the extra purchase to is yourself.
I've had iPhones for years, but I also have my old iPod Nano - lives stuck in the docking slot of my Sony mini-stereo most of the time. On long driving trips I'll take it to plug into the car's AUX port instead of the iPhone as I can leave it plugged in the whole trip, even when I stop and take the iPhone with me.

New ipod touch won't sync with my iTunes

I am old time iTunes user who just got new Ipod touch. It starts to sync but at last step message is "Waiting for next stage" or something and it won't sync. I tried everything I can think of. I have lastes iTunes version. My old ipod still updates and syncs works fine.

Maybe this:

If not what did the message say?

Keeps coming up with "What's New" page everytime I open Firefox.

Everytime I open Firefox (5) it keeps checking whether my add-ons would work with it and then opens the "What's New" page. It's starting to get really irritating.
Is there a way to stop it from doing this?

I suspect a bad add-on. Since add-ons often are installed externally to Firefox, I suggest starting here:
Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
Then, in Firefox, open the '''Add-ons page''' using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Finally, you can "mop up" remaining issues with the scanning/cleaning tools suggested in this support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].

[QUESTION] First Steps: Java ME SDK 3.0 AND NOKIA N95

Hi! this is my first post in the forums. I am a c# .net programmer and this is my first step to start programing mobile phones with Java ME.
I already downloaded and installed de Java ME SDK 3.0 and try the examples, then i build a sample and generate the jad.
After upload to my N95 it says that cant install the app because is for the N95 or is not supported....(I was thinking like winforms in .net... build install and run ....hahaha!)
but i found that every phone has its SDK that i must install to develop app.
So my question is
If i have the JME SDK 3.0 installed what i need to build any Nokia or Nokia N95 app. If is possible can you tell me the configuration that i need or maybe the steps to install the SDK from nokia to use in JME., apps, emulators, docs, etc.
PD: I want to start an app that tells me the location using the internal gps of the N95.

check if ME SDK is configured to MIDP 2.1. Also check whether N95 supports MIDP 2.1 or 2.0; if needed, change SDK build settings to MIDP 2.0. // this seem to be rather popular problem

Windows XP sp3 + iTunes 8 + New iPod Classic 120GB = Blue Screen Of Death

My PC has just upgraded itself with Windows XP Service Pack 3, I have downloaded iTunes 8, and just today bought a new iPod Classic 120GB so I could enjoy the new Genius facility (my old iPod was a 20GB model from 2005). However I keep getting the Blue Screen Of Death whenever I plug in the new iPod, even if I start-up the computer with the iPod connected.
I've read other threads about this topic, but I've only seen people reporting this issue with Vista, not XP.
- I'm thinking of uninstalling and re-downloading iTunes 8. Will it retain all playlists, album artwork etc.?
- I'm also thinking of trying to connect with the iPod manually set to disk mode. Will this help to begin with?
Anyone got a fix for this problem yet....Apple?

As a follow-up to my questions above, I've now tried uninstalling and then re-installing iTunes 8 direct from the Download link at Apple.com. I still get the BSOD. I also tried with the new iPod 120GB manually set to disk mode. Again, still I get the BSOD. I also unplugged a couple of other USB peripherals from my PC (writing tablet, card reader), checked for any more Windows XP Updates, but still get the BSOD.
Anyone got any more ideas?

Trouble syncing new ipod touch

I just got my new ipod touch. I started syncing it, but lost my internet connection in the middle of syncing (seems like a problem with the pc, just not sure why). The ipod seemed to stop syncing. It still said at the top of itunes that it was syncing but didn't seem to be doing anything at all. Do I have to have an internet connection to finish syncing? It loaded all my music I think, but never would do the photos or anything else. Thanks!

you dont need an internet connection to sync any of your music or photos. Sometimes my laptop freezes up because i guess syncing puts a load on the computer but it eventually finishes syncing. Im not sure why your photos didnt get synced unless you didnt check mark them to get synced or you unplugged it before it got to your photos. try re syncing your ipod. hope i helped

Cannot register new iPod due to registration screen incorrecltly populating

trying to register a new iPod, but the main start up screen isn't populating correcly in iTunes. It does not show the entire screen and does not give a scroll bar to be able to scroll to the far right of the screen to click the "register now" button; nor the "continue" button if I choose "register later". Can anyone help? I've never had this happen with iTunes and I have already tried repairing the installation to no avail.

PAL to NTSC... the VERY FIRST step to get off of disc?

I've got a PAL disc, and I need to transfer the movie to NTSC. Looked through the discussions and can follow the tutorial, but what is the very first step I should take to get the contents of the disc onto my desktop? Should I drag out the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders, or create a quicktime movie on desktop?

I posted this: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9229331#9229331 earlier today. Its a good idea to copy the VIDEO_TS folder to your computer first -speeds up the process quite a bit. You don't need the AUDIO_TS folder, its probably empty anyway.

They don't. They are called rumors. Apple has said nothing about a new iPod touch, but its very likely there will be a new iPod touch since the last model was released 2 years ago.
But other than that, we are not allowed to speculate on Apple's decisions or possibility of new products here.
