  • Online Help for Oracle HRMS Self Service System

I am looking into developing context-sensitive online help for an Oracle HRMS Self Service application. There is currently no online help for the application; all help is provided in printed and online docs, so users are having trouble navigating to the info they need. Help is needed! My initial questions are:
Would I need to create OHJ or OHW?
Could I use RoboHelp to develop the content?
Is there a reference document you can point me to?
    Thanks
    Belinda

    Hi Belinda,
You would create Oracle Help, and then deploy it using OHJ or OHW.
The format of the help is the same. There is nothing specific that needs to be done for one or the other. If your system i s a Web application, you would use OHW and otherwise, you would use OHJ.
You can read more about Oracle Help on OTN at http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/help/index.html.
(Read the FAQ for more information about the choice between OHJ and OHW.)
Personally, I would not recommend RoboHelp to create Oracle Help. RoboHelp has a lot of nice features, but the Oracle Help output feature is fairly buggy, especially if you are creating a large helpset, or a helpset that has subhelpsets.
At Oracle, a lot of help development is done using DreamWeaver and an in-house build tool, called the Oracle Help Build Tool. This is available for free. Send me a mail ([email protected]) if you want a copy.

  • Web Self Service - CC&B 2.2.0 - Tomcat - Demo on Laptop

I'm trying to install Web Self Service with CC&B V2.2.0 on a laptop for a DEMO.
The problem I get to is when I try to register a user or I click on Forgot your password link, or when I input rubbish user id and password in the login page. What happens is I receive an error of 401 from the XAI server. I followed the installation procedure inside the installation document from cc&B 2.1.0 to configure tomcat.
The error I get is: Server returned HTTP response code: 401 for url http://localhost:6500/XAIApp/xaiserver

    clarkd wrote:
I am trying to do the same thing, and I can't get to the page. However, after experimenting I noticed a few interesting things. In general I am installing the same config (Tomcat 6.0.13 and CC&amp;B 2.2 on a laptop with the demo data). Now I can access cis.jsp (localhost:6500\cis.jsp) no problem, but once I install WSS I can't access the WSS app (<A class=jive-link-external href="http://localhost:6500/SelfService">http://localhost:6500/SelfService</A>). However, since this is 6.0 so there is no admin feature I have been playing around by moving war files around and etc to try to get this to work (I believe the admin functionality was discontinued with tomcat 5.5). I even installed probe and played with JMX/jconsole to see if I could get WSS to work, but nothing worked or at least made any kind of change.
Eventually, I figured out that I could get to the <A class=jive-link-external href="http://localhost:6500/SelfService/SSvcLogIn.jsp">http://localhost:6500/SelfService/SSvcLogIn.jsp</A> page but it doesn't work. If i try to log ( I am trying the SYSUSER/sysuser00 login) in I get "HTTP Status 404 - /SelfService/SSvcLogIn.jsp". Interestingly if I put in a bogus username and password it actually rejects me, so that tells me that there is some connectivity going on. Anyway, after playing around I decided to install another version of tomcat (using the <font face="tahoma,verdana,sans-serif" size="1" color="#000">windows</font> installer v. 6.0.20), and then I moved the SelfService.war file into webapps directory, and then tried this other server which was on a different port. This time I actually got images and etc (for some reason the images weren't working on port 6500). Unfortunately when I tried to log in I got the same error as the original post on this thread.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Otherwise I am going to try to do this install but with Weblogic since there are better instructions for that app server. It's good for reference, It is just the solution for my problem, Thanks for your analysis!

  • Good Model for Web Self-service User registration ?

Trying to build a web self-service user registration module.
9iAS documentation says 9iAS uses JAZNUserManager that uses jazn-data.xml.
I like jazn-data.xml because the password is encrypted and works with j_security_check with minimal coding, just need to make entries in web.xml.
Is this a good model, ie storing web users in jazn-data.xml ?
    Thanks in advance

You should have a kind of auto-enrollment feature on Sharepoint side where, based on a menu selection, the user will be able to enroll himself and his account will be moved to an OU or added to groups based on the provided details. The problem with this
is that this is usually the source of duplicated user accounts in AD and it is not easy to apply a kind of control on how users should enroll themselves only one time and also hard to manage and cleanup later.
You can ask them in Sharepoint forums for more details:

  • Web Self Service 2.1.0 configuration in CC&B

    Dear all,
I'm trying to configure Web Self Service 2.1 for CC&B 2.1.0 and I have followed the steps provided in the installation document. I got the login page.
When I try to register an user I get the following error:
"Unable to load request schema. java.io.FileNotFoundException: /u01/spl/PRODTEST/SSvcPersonSearchByID.xsd (No such file or directory)"
The above xsd file is available in the directory /u01/spl/PRODTEST/splapp/xai/schema.
Is there any configuration which need to be updated to pick the correct path for the schema files?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Srividhya

Is the SelfService application installed under +/u01/spl/PRODTEST+ ? If yes, can you try installing it under $SPLEBASE/splapp folder , i.e. +/u01/spl/PRODTEST/splapp+
Default 'Schema Directory' location is configured under XAI Options, default value is 'file:///@SPLEBASE@/splapp/xai/schemas/', which in your case would be +/u01/spl/PRODTEST/splapp/xai/schemas/+

    Hi HM,
There is no concept called Web Self service in Siebel On Demand. Siebel On deman provides Web Service Interface. Getting sessionid sample code is available in Web Service integrating guide.

Now we are trying to create payment event from CC&B Web Self Service, we are stuck in the authentication part, hopefully we will resolve it very soon. Manas Barua

  • Mass creation of Oracle HR Self Service Users (for access to all employees)

Mass creation of Oracle HR Self Service Users (for access to all employees)
    Hi all,
We have Oracle Human Resources 11.5.7 and recently implement Oracle HRMS (Self Service) for the purpose of Online Appraisal System.
Is there any fast way to create all employees as users of the Self Service instead of creating the users manually one by one in HR?
    I would appreciate any feedback.
    Thanking you in advance.

  • What is Oracle Web Services Manager  and where can i get more information ?

    Hi,
Can any one point me to some useful links to know abt
Oracle Web Services Manager and some example to play with it.
    Appreciate your help !!
    Regards,
    Vijay.B

    Vijay,
You can install Oracle Web Services Manager (OWSM) as a stand alone product, but the easiest way would be to use the OracleAS SOA Suite Developer Preview, that contains all the SOA components (OWSM, J2EE, BPEL, ESB, ...)

  • DB Connection in Oracle Self Service Modules

    Hi,
I have one question about oracle Self Service modules.
I am using Oracle Ebusiness Suite 11.5.10 on Oracle 10g database.
What database user it connects to when we login to Oracle Apps Self service modules?
Assuming that its 'APPS' db user, can I change this db user to some other user ?
We are planning to archive and purge the workflow tables to another database and want to access that
    data using db link.
So, we want to access archived data stored in other database using the db link.
Can somebody explain me how to achieve this?
    Thanks,
    DR

What database user it connects to when we login to Oracle Apps Self service modules?Apps user.
Assuming that its 'APPS' db user, can I change this db user to some other user ? You cannot change this user as it is not easy to do that, plus you would lose support (unless you have your own custom module).
We are planning to archive and purge the workflow tables to another database and want to access that data using db link.
So, we want to access archived data stored in other database using the db link.
Can somebody explain me how to achieve this?Is it OK for you to create a user like Apps user with read only privileges? If yes, have a look at the following link:

  • Architectural/design documentation required for Self Service Expenses application

I'm looking for architectural/design documentation on the Oracle Applications Self Service Expense Reporting application.
Specifically I'd like to know how it was designed & architected, what technologies were used to develop it (e.g. CABO, B24J, Oracle Workflow, AQ etc.) and how these technologies interact to form the final system.
We have a product called the Oracle Migration Workbench. It is a standalone java-based application that facilitates the migration of non-Oracle databases over to Oracle9i. We're investigating the possibility of developing a web-based migration capability. Of course we appreciate that moving from a tool-based, single user solution to a web based, multi user solution is not a trivial task.
Seeing that you guys would have already tackled many of the challenges we face I'd appreciate it if you can provide me with any pertinent information.
Any white papers/architectural collateral you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks in advance

  • Oracle Web Center Suite and Oracle Portal

1)What is Oracle Portal and why it is used?
2)What is Oracle Web Center Suite and why it is used?
3)What is the difference between Oracle Portal and Oracle Web Center Suite?

    1) Oracle Portal is the Portal product that was deployed together with the application server before weblogic server. It is still used a lot for corporate intra and extranets. It is mosly used for intranets and extranets. When you bought the licence for the application server you automaticly had the licence for Oracle Portal. That's why it is so popular.
Oracle portal is not realy standard based. You mostly will create portlets with PL/SQL or PDK and not realy use the JSR168 standard.
No with Oracle Portal 11g you can consume JSR168 portlets using WSRP.
    2) Oracle WebCenter suite is the next strategical choose of oracle in portal software. Webcenter is an enterprise 2.0 portal environment while oracle portal is more web 1.5 and has limited web 2.0 stuff. Oracle Portal comes with a complete UI for the user to use to create websites and groups but webcenter is more a framework to incoorporate enterprise 2.0 features into your own fusion web application. Webcenter suite comes with Webcenter spaces. THis is a complete UI to create collaborative websites.
Webcenter framework is a powerfull framework to create complete enterprise 2.0 sites.
    3) The difference... Oracle Portal is an old product and will not be developt anymore. I've heard portal 11g will be the last version meaning support will stop at 2014. Webcenter is a new product to create state of the art enterprise 2.0 websites.
Oracle portals is not build on standard and is not realy standardbased meaning is you develop portlets for portal you will not be able to use them in other portals.
Webcenter on the other hand is completly standard based. It is JSR168 compliant and in the near future it will also support JSR286.
Oracle portal is PL/SQL based while webcenter is completly java based, based upon the ADF framework from oracle.
Because WebCenter is based upon the ADF framework you can use the complete ADF framework for your application. For example consuming webservices are very easy in webcenter. If you are using a service oriented architecture you will have lots and lots of work to integrate it with portal. With webcenter this is peace of cake.
    Hope this helps you :)

  • Self service procurement

    Hi ,
I am sorry asking this qestion ..i know it is very basic question. but i don't know the exact meaning
What is menat by Self Service Procurmet?
I read SRM 210, but i am not understanding..Please explain me.
What's the flow of Self service Procurement??
    Thanks,

    Hi Viswanath,
You can ask any question irrespective of its criticality as far as it is SRM related.
Self Service Procurement : It is the basic P2P (Purchase to Pay) cycle which can be executed by the individual.
The person who can create the Shopping cart (like P.R in R/3) can confirm the goods and can post the invoice himself.
    The P2P cycle :
    1. Creation of Shopping cart (like P.R in R/3)
    2. Creation of P.O (after the approval of shopping cart through sourcing)
    3. Confirmation of goods (like G.R in R/3)
    4. Posting of Invoice
The approvals can be customized at each level using the work flow.
Hope this will make you more clear. Clarifications are welcome.
    Rgds,
    Teja
