Org, structure defn can be different for different industries, but in general it can be defined as mentioned below.
Org. Structure is:
You use the organizational structure to represent and process
disciplinary assignments, remuneration flows and statistical aggregations.
As asked by you 1 example for this is:
In an insurance company, the organizational structure models the
hierarchical picture of an organization (generally sales and distribution), in particular for
the derivation of overriding commissions.
One more definition for Org. Structure which can throw more light in understanding this is:
"A hierarchy in which the organizational units in an enterprise are arranged according to tasks and functions.
The organizational structure differs from the administrative enterprise or personnel structure, whose
structural elements are relevant to payroll accounting and accounting."
Please mark thread as answered if you get satisfactory answer.

  • What is organizational structure?

    Hi All,
I searched in sap help, found the definition of "Organizational Structure"(such as company code, purchase organization and so on) is hard to understand. Could you provide answers to my questions below:
    1. what is org. structure in sap?
    2. difference between in sap and a real company( in a company we have a lot of departments, we also call them as organization structure).
    3. why not sap use departments as Org structure?
Thanks in advance! Point will be rewarded.
    Regards,
    Alex

    Dear Alex ,
The concept of an organizational structure has already been provided by you . In SAP we depict the organization in the way it is .
Depending on how you want to use Organizational Management, you must decide which units you want to include in your organizational structure. For a rough depiction, you can restrict the structure to the main departments. For a more detailed depiction, you can also include subsections and work groups, for example.
According to this organizational structure, you can execute evaluations data, or , in Workflow, you can search for the agent of a task.
You carry out assignments and restrictions in the representation of an organizational structure.

  • SAP MM Organization structure for the Utilities Industry

    Hi,
Please let me know how does the typlical org structutre should look like for the Utilities company.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Material management organizational structure includes
    1. Purchasing Organization,
    2. Plant,
    3. Storage Location &
    4. Purchasing Group.
    Note:
It depends how you project or design the purchasing group in the organization & purchase group can be created and represent as department .In general, company have many more departments & need to control & approval of all purchasing documents at department level & at the end to know cost incurred in each department with various activities( more then one& each GL represent one activity) .So in turn Purchasing group(department) is linked  to cost center and then different G/L accounts which represent various activities linked with the cost center.

    Organizational Units and Basic Settings
    Definition
Elements of the SAP System logical structure, important for Financial Accounting.
Organizational units are used to structure business functions and for reporting. The organizational units of Financial Accounting are used for external reporting purposes, that is, they fulfil requirements that your business is subject to from external parties, for example, legal regulations. The financial statements for example, are created based on the organizational units of Financial Accounting.
Basic settings in Financial Accounting are Customizing settings that you have to make in order to be able to carry out processes in Financial Accounting.
    Use
You create your company-specific organizational structure in the SAP System by defining the organizational units and making the basic settings. Defining organizational units for Financial Accounting is obligatory, that is, you have to define these units in order to be able to implement the Financial Accounting component.

    Integration
In the SAP System, you define the relevant organizational units for each component that you are implementing. For example, for Sales and Distribution, you define sales organizations, distribution channels, and divisions (product groups). Similarly, for Purchasing, you define purchasing organizations, evaluation levels, plants, and storage locations. The organizational units are independent of one another at this stage.

    Purchasing organization, ...
    Financial Accounting
    Company code, ...
    Controlling
    Controlling area, ...
    Human Resources
    Employee groups, ...
To transfer data between the individual components, you have to assign the organizational units to each other. You only need to make these assignments once in the system. Whenever you enter data subsequently, it is automatically transferred.
For example, invoices that are posted in SD are transferred to FI.

    Hi Friends,
we have problem with the organizational structure graphical view in OM. the system can not read the texts fonts, we don't use english characters. what should we do?
    Thanks

    Hi there!
Hope you both don't mind but I am piggy backing on your OM discussion. You both sound like have good experience in working with Turkey. I am trying to find a standard infotype to store a Turkish Identification no, SSN, and Local ID card numbers. I am leaning towards IT0185 but first want to check around to see if there are Turkish infotypes specifically for these types of documentation. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Great article.  I also had this probelm a year ago. My problems questions are:
Is it possible to select more then one entry in the tree?
What about selecting all childrens with one click?
In my solution I inserted this tree, into a table and the table had a checkbox, row, so the user can check the required org units, (more then one) and there was a separate button, for "select all children"

  • Sales organization structure changes in COPA

    Hi All,
My client like to change Sales organization structure like Distribution channel, division, sales office, sales group etc. and profit centers in sales orders.
from 01/01/2011 we like to post all open sales order's settlments to new sales organization, distribution channel, division, sales office, sales group and profit centers in COPA.
What is the best way to achieve this?
    Any help is appreciated.....
    Thanks,
    Anusha

    Hi,
I think COPA realignment should work for you.
If you can establish the exact relation ship between old Sales org structure  to new Sales org structure, you can design your realignment in such a way that the new sales data will reflect the new structure.
    For this,
1.You need to select the sales documents for which you want to change the sales org.
    2. If you want to derive them again, you can do so
    3. If you want the sales org structure elements to be replaced by new ones, you can do so.
Following a realignment, only the new assignment is known in the information system and in planning. The characteristic values valid at the time the original posting was made can only be analyzed in line item reports. Because the existing profitability segments are changed to adhere to the new assignment, all objects assigned to those profitability segments - such as sales orders or projects - and all existing SAP documents - such as billing documents or FI documents - reflect the new assignment as well.

    Hi there
Your question doesn't seem to have anything to do with OO ABAP.
I suggest you post this question in a more appropriate forum.
This Forum is for OO Abap.
Your question is much more likely to get answered if posted to the correct forum.
Not trying to be the proverbial "Grade A" but routing your posts to the most appropriate Forum will benefit everyone including you a lot.

  • Organizational structure creation

    [Organizational Structure creation using HRMD_ABA;
Appologies if you saw this message on Friday, because I did originally post it under the general area. I was hoping that if I re-posted it under this area I might get a few more responses. I have included the one response I  got, plus my reponse, which does contain more detail about how I ran PFAL - program RHALEINI, and re poses the question about what needs to be created in SRM re an organisational structure, prior to doing an initial load using transaction PFAL.
    Many Thanks
    Claire
I am trying to set up the organizational structure in our SRM 7.0 system using our ECC 6 organizational structure. I have created all the required distribution models for SRM and ECC 6, and have set up the switch settings in SRM. The number range settings have been set to external.
As per OSS Note 36317, which concentrates on the initial distribution, and I am working through, I have run PFAL in ECC 6 only for object type O. The HRMD_ABA idocs have been successfully transferred to our SRM system, but all are at status 52.
The message for all the idoc segments is:
'You tried to create a relationship from object 01O 50000333 to object 01S 50000846. However, object 01S 50000846 does not exist or is not active in the period from 19000101 to 99991231'.
One thing I haven't done, which might be incorrect, is create an Organizational Plan in SRM. I specifically haven't done this because I am wanting to use external numbering, and therefore thought the organizational plan would get automatically created as part of the initial distribution.
Does any one have any idea how to resolve my problem?
    Many Thanks
    Claire

    Hello Claire,
It looks like you are replicating "S". After the "O" replication you should run the "S".
Please refer to the OSS note 934372 u201CSRM/CRM: HR integration for business partner u2013 new featuresu201D & SAP Note # 550055 EBP/SRM: New integration for business partner as well.

    Hi Ashutosh
I intend to replicate 'S', as described in the note, but nothing has been created with my initial replication of 'O'. As per the note 363187 you are supposed to distribute type 'O' first before moving on to 'S'. Is there anything really fundamental I have missed that you are supposed to do in SRM either before or after the initial set of idocs for type 'O' are brought in?
I have also read the other 2 notes you mention.
    Note 363187 stated:
'Perform the following steps in the sequence given if the target system is a
    mySAP.com system (SEM, CRM, BBP/EBP):
    1. If you want to use the change pointers for later changes, activate
them at once. During initial transport, you should not maintain the
data in parallel in HR because the distribution takes the blocking
mechanism into account, which can cause an incomplete initial
    transport.
    2. All objects of object type O are distributed with program RHALEINI. As
a transfer mode, the update mode with infotype 1000 selection should
    be used.
This way you make sure that all objects of object type O are created
in the target system for existence checks.
    3. As previous step but for object type C.
    4. As previous step but for object type S.
So far all I have tried to do is up to step 2.
When running RHALEINI I have entered the following:
    Objects - Object Type = 'O'
Reporting Period - Today is selected
Transfer Mode - Insert is selected, with the Update Mode infotype set to 1000
I did think making a setting under the Update Mode Infotype seemed a little odd, as I was doing an insert, but is this not what point 2 from the OSS Note is telling me to do?
Any thoughts would be really helpful.
Am I supposed to create a skeleton Org structure before pulling in the ECC 6 structure when I am using external numbering?
    Thanks

  • Input for Organization Structure finilization.

    Hello Experts
I have to implement the organization structure of company for that I need some input from experts.
    In plant A
    Example
    Process 1 in plant A
    Raw Material = RM1
    Raw Material = RM2
    From this we produce
    Semi Finish Good = SFG1
    Process 2 in plant A
    Adding Raw Material = RM3
    & Semi Finish Good(of process1) = SFG1
    We produce
    Semi finish = SFG2
We sell some quantity of SFG1 and SFG2 from Plant A itself and transfer balance to Plant B for further processing
    In plant B
We receive SFG2 from plant A for further processing.
    SFG2(of plant A) + RM4 = FG1
And then we transfer part of FG1 to Plant C (Depot) for sale and balance we sale from plant B itself
    Client wants are:
    1.Plant wise balance sheet
2 Process wise cost (Process in each plant E.g Process A & Process B)
    3. Process wise Revenue if we sale SFG or FG form that plant itself
What i find the solution to above case
    1. 1 Company Code
    2. 3 Plants
    3. Plant will be equal to Segment
    4. Process in each plant equal to Profit Center
But in that case one problem will arise that which profit center will we assign in Which Material as material will move form one Profit center to another in one plant itself.
Kindly suggest me, We will implement Product Costing and we are on EHP5.
Kindly share if you have better idea for above issue.

  • Organization Structure level

    Hi All,
I know this is a fundamental question, so guide me if this is not the right place.
I am new to HCM and am trying to get my fundamentals right. I have been reading a lot about organization structure and organization plan. In real life scenarios when we create an organization structure, is it created at a company code level or enterprise (client) level. Bottom line, is there only one organization structure created per client or multiple?
    Thank you!
    Sudhir

    Hi Sudhir,
Vishru and Vikrant have given you an excellent start.  I believe you are confusing some terms here - Company Code is determined by the Financial organization and refers to a group having their own set of books - general ledger.  There will be at least one Company Code per country but there may be more than one in a country if you have subsidiaries or divisions that keep their own general ledgers.
In HR the Organizational Structure shows who reports to whom.  This may cut across several Company Codes as the CEO may manage the heads of several subsidiaries each of which has their own P&L responsibility.  The structure then continues down in each subsidiary again showing who reports to whom.
The Personnel Area and Personnel Subarea (Enterprise Structure) usually look at location and function - where a person works and their function in the company.  For example, all persons working at the Corporate Headquarters may be in the same Personnel Area if they are all at the same location.  But they may work in Fianance, HR, Purchasing, etc. which may be separate Subareas.  But each Personnel Area may be assigned to only one Company Code.
The Employee Group and Subgroup (Personnel Structure)determine the type of pay and benefits the employee may receive.  Example, Salaried Employee, Hourly, Union Worker, Part TIme, Full Time, etc.  These will cross Company Code lines if they have the same benefits, work schedules, pay structure, etc.
What you must remember is that every employee has an assignment in the Enterprise Structure, Personnel Structure and Organizational Structure and these are all assigned in IT0001-Organizational Assignment.
